We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday and I found the place lace to be warm and welcoming. The food is a blend of Mexican, Korean, and other cultures. I order the Kobe Beef Ravioli which came with herb salad. I substituted the citrus vinaigrette with the key lime vinaigrette. I was surprised by the salad being placed directly on top of the raviolis. But I really enjoyed the raviolis, which were light but very filling. I didn't care for the salad, finding the greens to be too bitter for me. My son ordered the Black Angus Rib tacos, which turned out to be three corn tortillas the size of small street tacos. They were filled generously with beef, pico de gallo, and cilantro. They came with guacamole also. My son said they were the right amount of spice and filled him up nicely. My daughter ordered the Grilled beef short rib fried rice. It was a very generous portion and she ended up sharing with my son. She told me that rice was done perfectly and the matcha salsa had a unique but enjoyable flavor. The restaurant also has a well curated wine and cocktail menu but we did not try anything off it. I forgot about this sweet little spot and I'm glad the ladies at Wylde Market Collective suggested La Condesa which is located right behind the market. My mom and I ordered margaritas. I have been here twice once with coworkers and once with my mother in law and had a great time each time. Early on it's pretty quiet but I can see how it might get louder as the evening progresses. I choose to come here for my birthday dinner this year after visiting a few times previously. An important note- Parking is extremely tough. There are probably 8 parking spots in front, otherwise you will need to park in the area. It was much busier than expected and although we made reservations we had to wait for our table still. For the birthday guest (myself) they play a drum sound while bringing the cake out which is so fun. Our waiter was exceptionally nice and catered to our party of seven. I left them my birthday cake that I made as part of a thank you for serving us, and he was so excited it made my night. I wish they had more vegetarian options as I love the drinks and atmosphere, but don't have many choices. On previous menus they show vegetarian chicken wings, which would be incredible but I never got to try. I usually get the pear and prosciutto pizza with no prosciutto, which ironically used to be on the menu as a pear and arugula pizza. Although I have to make this change, the pizza is absolutely fantastic. It's an incredible flavor and I fall in love with it every time, even getting the same item. Their potato taquitos are also to die for. They are one of the best appetizers on any menu in town, which says a lot for foodies like us, especially when I don't often like deep fried items. The shell is not thick and hard like most fried items, it's simply a means to hold the deliciously soft potato inside. The best part of all is the many toppings, garnishes, and sauces on top. It is so flavorful it is mind blowing. For a taquito there is truly nothing like it. They outdo themselves on this one. Overall we have come here quite a few times and will keep returning. We had been meaning to visit La Condesa Eatery for quite a while now and the perfect date night opportunity presented itself. We made a reservation online for indoor seating and were given plenty of time options for a Tuesday evening. We found free street parking close by and as we walked through the outdoor patio area, we imagined how wonderful it would be to sit outside during the warmer months. We were pleasantly greeted by the hostess and our waiter and were informed of the Tuesday happy hour specials - $5 draft beers and 3 for $12 street tacos (either Al pastor or carne asada). Parking is pretty limited, but there is street parking and other parking lots available nearby. What really earns La Condesa this five star review is the high quality of their food and the variety of their menu. The feature cuisine from everywhere: Italian-inspired pasta, American-style burgers, Latin style tacos, European tapas, and some great fresh salads. I highly recommend the octopus! I love how they put a spin on a lot of different dishes however, I feel like they went a bit to far on some and they didn't understand the assignment. The calamari was over cooked but the presentation looked good but I've had better. Everyone talks about this hidden gem in the Wells District and my first visit was not until the Yelp Top 100 Food Crawl! After visiting, I knew I had to go back and try it for real ASAP! I made a reservation for 4 on a Friday night and it's a good thing I did! For before the dinner rush, the place was still relatively busy with customers even seated in the patio area. The parking is a challenge but it must have been our lucky day because I was able to snag one of the three spots available right in front of the gate. I'm not a huge fan of fusion cuisine which is probably why it took me so long to visit but surprisingly everything came together really well! We started with cocktails and ordered the Blackberry Hibiscus Margarita, the Guava Margarita, the LCE Mojito with prickly pear, and the Mambo Italiano. While all the drinks were fun and refreshing my favorite of the group was the Mambo Italiano. I was so surprised! For a bourbon based cocktail it was fruity, refreshing and not heavy at all and complimented our food. We ordered a bunch of things to try and shared everything family style and had everything come out as it was ready. From the appetizers we got the Spanish Octopus, the Pork Belly Bao Buns, the Lamb Kafta-Bao Buns. For the main dishes we ordered the Tako Meshi, the La Condesa Carbonara, the Exotic Mushroom Al Pastor Tacos, and the Fish Tacos. The Baos were both soft and fluffy on the outside and generously stuffed with meat. The pork belly was tender and flavorful and the lamb tasted like well seasoned kabobs. The Spanish Octopus and the Tako Meshi had to be my top dishes of the night. Visually, the Spanish Octopus was the showstopper. You have to get a bite of octopus, sausage, and potato all together! The Tako Meshi we almost didn't order since we already had an octopus dish but I'm so glad we got it because it was super flavorful with the salsa, leeks, and pork belly coming together for a very good fried rice. The fish tacos and the carbonara were both solid but the mushroom al pastor was very interesting. I'd never considered mushrooms for al pastor but the flavor paired very well with the texture of the mushrooms. Overall, we had a great experience. The staff was friendly and food was a bit pricey but very tasty and so unique! My favorite part had to be that everything on the menu was so interesting and truly original. They also usually have a cocktail on special. Last night it was a pomegranate margarita and it was sweet and tart! Entrees were grilled short rib fried rice which I thought was great. Tasty and a variety of flavors. I'm not typically a fan of pork belly but it was well seasoned and mixed with the peppers, onions and rice. Overall it was a great meal. My GF got gnocchi al cilantro and she sadly didn't finish her meal. It was very greasy and seemed to have too much added oil so she was not particularly a fan of it and would not order it again. I remember as a kid it was a laundry, then a small engine repair shop. Later it was a foreign auto repair shop. The roll-up doors are still part of the building. I can't emphasize enough how amazing the pork bao buns are, they are one of my favorite appetizers! The evening of this review, my husband got the rib eye tacos, and they were delicious! Each order of tacos and additionally the bao buns, come in an order of three each. But the servings are hefty and you'll definitely enjoy each dish! The staff were so helpful, they were able to squeeze us in without a reservation, but I highly emphasize how important it is to have a reservation. Especially during peak days. One item to note is the small parking spaces, you may have to park elsewhere, but the food makes it worth it. I absolutely LOVE the vibe of this spot. La Condesa's decor has an edgy, pop Spanish theme, and it's been a go-to for me in the past month. Last week I got the Chilaquiles dish, and my gf got their seafood paella which just so happened to be the Thursday dish special! The Prickly Pear Mojito is my favorite drink there, but they have a nice menu of other speciality cocktails to choose from, along with wines and beer. My scoop on the chilaquiles: I liked it, but it could be better. I wish there was more than one egg, because with the amount of chips in the dish, you run out of egg quickly. The dish consisted of tortilla chips, salsa and lettuce, with some red onion, and the one egg. The side of bread that came with it was actually quite nice (it tasted homemade) and I used it to scoop up some of the salsa in the dish - yum! I didn't love that the chips were soggy once I received the dish, but perhaps that was by design? I personally wish they were still crisp. I also wish it had come with either the rice or beans (or both) that this dish is traditionally made with. It felt empty without these. My girlfriend loved the paella. I can't speak on the taste because I'm not a seafood gal, but I'll just say that the serving size was enough for two people and she took her leftovers home. I had always seen the bistro lights from the roundabout on Wells, and after 6 years of living in Reno, finally got to visit for our anniversary! I was blown away by the menu and flavors.
