Pros: great delicious food. Really friendly, customer focused hard working, attention to refills staff that work amazingly as a team. Cons: their margaritas. It's not good. I have never seen a staff shake their margaritas so they aren't mixed correctly. When we left, there were 3 staff at the host stand, one was sitting down engrossed in her phone, which left a bad taste in my mouth. The restaurant was busy and there was no need for that many people at the front, especially for some girl to be on her phone and not even notice us as we are leaving. It wasn't even like she was sending a quick text, it looked liked she had been on it for quite some time... Will I be coming back? Absolutely, but there are some areas for improvement. read more

Good good and quick service. We were sat right away without the reservation, and given chips and salsa. The brought waters right to the table and took out drink order, Horchata! After some chips they refilled the salsa and took out orders, which were out about 10-15 minutes later. My friend and pretty much licked out plates clean. We are sitting in the bar area for lunch (no problems!) they have a frozen margarita machine and a batch margarita cooler for margaritas on the rocks. Unless you order a specific tequila, then you will get a batch. That is also fine with me. What bothered me was the staff timing. They seemed to be fully staffed for lunch, it we spent over an hour for lunch. This is not the neighborhood that is a three martini lunch. Most want a great meal, quick service, and in and out in 30 minutes. Maybe I misread the ambiance. If so, that is on me. I had the chicken mole enchiladas. Honestly, they were spectacular! I judge a Mexican restaurant by their mole. What I have learned is that mole is just like grandma's chicken soup. They are all different. Some are great and some...well... It's been several months since I've been to Miguel's, so I was due for a visit. With the Holiday Season in full swing, I was craving Pozole. Absolutely fantastic with every visit. It's always very clean. It is spacious and I've always been a fan of the decor. The lighting fixtures especially are beautiful and seem to be handmade. The service is excellent and everyone is so nice and accommodating. Every item that I have ever had here has always been exceptional and perfectly cooked and seasoned. I have been too attached to the small chimichanga plate lately. I'm obsessed with the shredded beef and how flavorful it is. And I really appreciate the dollop of fresh guacamole on top of the chimichanga that, mixed with some of the salsa makes for an outstanding bite. I'm also a huge fan of places that offer carafes of coffee for the table. It's really nice to be able to fill my mug as often as I need to. Much love to the Miguel's crew! I was really disappointed with my experience here tonight. I ordered an entrée that I genuinely did not enjoy. After only trying a small portion, I politely asked if I could order something different. I did not continue eating the dish, nor did I take it home, yet I was still charged for the original entrée. I work in the restaurant industry myself, so I completely understand that every restaurant has different policies regarding returned food. I wasn't expecting anything unreasonable--I simply hoped for a respectful conversation and a solution that prioritized good customer service. Instead, the interaction with the manager, Alba, was the most disappointing part of the evening. She approached our table aggressively and spoke to us in a rude, dismissive manner. Rather than trying to de-escalate the situation or show any empathy, her attitude made us feel like our concerns didn't matter. I understand businesses have policies, but the way those policies are communicated is just as important. I left feeling frustrated, disrespected, and disappointed. Customer service can turn a negative dining experience into a positive one, but unfortunately that didn't happen here. Based on this experience, I won't be returning and can't recommend this restaurant. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this restaurant before. I've been here a number of times too. Regardless, we really like Miguel's. The service is always great, the food is tasty, and the space at the summit has lots of room in the dining and bar area. Plus they have a private room for parties which is pretty spacious. I usually order the pozole which I think is delicious. But honestly, all the dishes I've tried (and family have tried) are quite tasty. They have great drink selections too. Had lunch with some former coworkers. Parking is plentiful. Was seated at and once and drinks ordered within 3 minutes. I got the Chili Verde and the meat was soft and flavorful and overall yummilicious! Got the skinny tequila with tajin on the rim and though I'm not into the skinny and more for the tajin, the drink was gooood! Place had a Mexican feel and cozy! Restrooms were cleaned and stocked. Typically love this location but the last couple of times we've gotten the carne asada burritos there hasn't been much carne asada. The burritos are mostly rice these days with what seems like a couple tablespoons of meat. We also pay extra for sauce on our burritos and have been shorted on that as well. This *little* spot was bustling tonight when we came around 6. People waiting outside in the frigid temps, and the waiting area only accommodates 7 avg size people. We were told wait time for party of 3 is 20 minutes. Highlights were the shredded beef enchiladas for me. Great flavor. The guac was excellent too- fresh and delish. Our server was a hard worker; he stayed on top of several tables around us. Very attentive and kind. Prices were better than expected for a sit down meal. The Meh- Hubby didn't love his carne asada burrito. It's just average, the meat wasn't seasoned too well. We ordered churro sopapillas. While the OG owner was from New Mexico, these were not NM's sopapillas. They had good flavor but lacking the fluffiness. Overall, I'd come back to Miguel's if I visit Reno again and wanted a decent Mexican restaurant for a reasonable price. And. I'd skip sopapillas. read more

One bus boy, made sure that we got plenty of chips and salsa, and that may be the reason for giving them at least one more star. We ordered the Carne Asada. Don't get the ceviche. There was bacteria in my ceviche that gave me headaches and syncope for days. I'm getting better but still don't feel well. I'm also a healthcare worker so I know how to self diagnose and treat. But for other people who are not healthcare workers, you'll for sure think you're dying and will go to the ER. So don't eat the ceviche. I was hesitant to make this review but I saw someone else talk about how a restaurant made them sick with mold in their food. I don't like leaving one star reviews but this place really deserves it. I have eaten Mexican food all over town and this was the worst. I went here when they first opened and it was bad and it is still bad but I wanted to give them another try. My friend and I went there on 4/14 around noon for lunch. That was going to be our main meal for the day. We were not happy with the food or the service. First of all, we asked the hostess for a booth in a quiet spot so we could chat without disturbing those around us. She laughed and told us the only thing she could do was put us in a high top at the bar and we said no. We had lots of catching up to do and wanted a private spot that was not so busy. I was quite surprised when the menu came and the prices were more than their site online. Don't raise the prices without changing your website. That's a bad practice. Next the food came quick that was the only plus except we wanted to chat a bit before the meal. We felt RUSHED the whole time and that was not our plan since we had not seen each other in awhile. The presentation of the food was not good plus my taco salad was quite small. In the photo it looks big because I took a close up but it was about 7" diameter. I am used to large taco salads that have lots of good stuff on top. This was was PLAIN. Tiny amount of chicken, tiny amount of beans and all lettuce. Nothing else. Go to most Mexican Restaurants for a taco salad and they add olives, tomatoes, cheese and sometimes avocado. But what is a taco salad without the CHEESE, its tasteless and hard to eat. My friend had a combination and she said her enchilada was not made right and it had a brown sauce instead of enchilada sauce. Her rice was plain and just slightly colored with no taste. We were really upset with the way we were RUSHED. The server kept coming back disturbing us so it was difficult to relax. He brought the meal quick, brought the drinks without straws and seemed out-of-sorts that we wanted straws. We were still eating when he brought the bill. Then he kept coming back to pick it up. We finally put our cards out and he rushed to charge them. And I have never had this happen before, he came back immediately to pick them up while we were still eating, like he wanted his tip right now. Usually, you sign and add the tip and they wait until your are done with your food or you are on your way out. Time to visit, well that didn't happen we were there less than an hour. They wanted us in and out as quickly as possible and they were not that busy. I will never go here again and I will not even go to their Mid-Town location and we have been there several times. I have other Mexican Restaurants where I can spend my money and enjoy my lunch or dinner. We eat out often and are always looking for good spots. If you value your money and a restful meal that is tasty, DON'T go here. read more

I forgot Miguel's was even there with all of other restaurants and shopping choices up at Summit but realized it was time to give it a shot. The vibe inside was good and about half full and certainly perked up my nose. We were seated immediately with a basket of chips and salsa dropped off within seconds. Ok, not bad. The chips were thicker, and not my personal preference, although it does make it easier for dipping, and the salsa itself was tasty. My wife ordered chicken tacos, and I had the Enchiladas Rancheras. Both came out super quick and hot! The taco was good, as were the enchiladas, although there was a little too much shredded lettuce on top...maybe that's how it's supposed to be but wasn't sure. Once uncovered, the taste was solid, and I ate it all up. That being said, I wasn't excited about it as it wasn't a "must have again" type of meal. Additionally, the restroom could have used a once over at the very least. I know that's not really part of the dining experience, but it's nice to know the house is kept clean. I will say though that our server, Cynthia, was spot on and was very attentive, polite and genuine. read more

Visited Miguel's for the first time; I kept saying I was going to and finally did it. It's a nice place with a good atmosphere, and friendly servers. Pros: had a Cadillac margarita that tasted good, I also had the bean and chorizo appetizer, I really liked the flavor of the beans, it would have been better with a little bit more chorizo, but that's more of a preference. For my main course I had the Carnitas Plato and again I enjoyed it. Cons: overall I don't have anything too negative, if I was to pick on something it would be the the carnitas meeting wasn't fresh, it was a tad on the dry side lacked juices, probably yesterday's leftover would be my guess. But the flavors were good. I'll return again and try something different, but overall I would recommend Miguel's. read more

Miguel's used to be my go-to, but this last experience has REALLY changed my opinion. I ordered the pozole and it was honestly really bland. I was expecting some tripe, but there was just beef, which is fine too. What had really upset me was my side plate of toppings. The toppings MUST HAVE BEEN FROM ANOTHER PLATE. It had remnants of salsa and beans all over the cabbage and limes, which we did not have beans on our table, so my side plate arrived to my table with other food on it, which grossed me out. We are frequent guests at Miguel's Restaurant at The Summit in Reno and have always enjoyed the food and staff - until tonight. We came in to celebrate my birthday dinner. After ordering drinks, my husband tried a frozen Cadillac margarita for the first time. After one sip, he realized it wasn't for him and politely asked our server if he could switch it for his usual Cadillac margarita on the rocks--something he orders regularly and has never had an issue with. He has never complained, returned a drink, or asked for a change before. Instead of handling this quietly and professionally, one of the managers came to our table and began grilling him in a rude, confrontational tone, asking what was "wrong" with the drink. She then loudly announced--within earshot of nearby guests--that she would make an exception "this ONE time" but it would never happen again, embarrassing my husband in front of the entire area. She grabbed the drink and stormed off to the bar. I was absolutely horrified. My husband was left speechless. This could have been handled with basic hospitality and discretion. Instead, what should have been a simple drink swap turned into a public lecture on my birthday. Sometimes people have bad days--but not at the expense of your guests, and certainly not in a way that humiliates them. We didn't even eat our food. We paid the bill in full, left a tip, and walked out. Unfortunately, they didn't just lose a drink order--they lost two loyal customers who will never return. What a shame, because until tonight, we genuinely liked this restaurant. read more

I have been missing the bbq salad at BJs so I ended up ordering the chicken bbq salad here (a surprising choice for a Mexican Restaurant). The bbq chicken salad was fantastic but very small, I was still so hungry after (perhaps it's meant to be like a small side salad kind of thing?). It had a very bright, vibrant, and fresh flavor. Bbq sauce on it was delicious and the added cilantro throughout was a nice touch. The rice and beans tasted nothing like any Mexican food I've ever had-- and I don't mean that as a compliment. The refried beans literally tasted like Campbells cream of chicken soup was used instead of lard or something. The rice was different too, had a strong mild pepper taste throughout it but I didn't see any pieces of bell pepper. Very strange. Maybe next time I'll ask for the pinto beans as my sides instead (hopefully those are better). I took a bite of my husband's enchilada. It was good. The cheese had that traditional thick chewy, spongy, texture. The sauce was a familiar taste, nothing to write home about. The kids enjoyed their grilled shrimp plate (from the standard menu, not the kid's menu). Overall I would consider returning. The prices were not bad and I loved the atmosphere (spacious, clean, well lit, and decorated). Our server was also fantastic. He kept our waters filled, was cautious with the hot plates given the toddlers at our table, etc. We got the not churros churro things for dessert. They were a good value. Flavor was reminiscent of sour dough bread and they were very sugary (and messy!), could have used more cinnamon for our tastes though. read more
