Walking buy myself Sunday morning looking for a place to enjoy a brunch and came upon this place. I opened yelp and saw that it was the place to be for brunch. Manger greeted me at the door and welcomed me to the bar area by my request. Sat down and my delicious adventure began. I ordered a beverage " bloody Maria" yum and at a special price. Then a small plate of chips and salsa was placed in front of me to enjoy while I scanned the menu. I ordered the Heuvos Rancheros. A personal favorite for a Mexican brunch. Ate every bit of it including the chips and salsa. Chef also welcomed me. Charming and lovely to talk with. The staff was wonderfuland very attentive. I finished off with a few delicious cups of coffee while I waited for the rain to let up. I will go back again next time in the city. But will call for reservations just in case. read more

Revisited the place on Monday, and am happy to report that the place is as awesome as the LES location. I think two locations aim to provide a little bit different experience for the diner - the other location has the charm of a hole-in-the-wall feel that gets you ready for authentic, Mexican fare, while this location, with its lit up wall full of various tequilas, makes you expect trendy, quality food items. In the end, both locations deliver on the authentic and quality for sure. The mayan is always my go-to cocktail here and it was done perfectly, as usual. Michelada classic is another awesome choice (wouldn't recommend for those who don't like spicy/sour notes in their drinks) for summer time. Perfectly, yet weirdly, refreshing and addicting. Fresh guac and perfectly fried fish tacos should be on your table to start, with your next moves being some of their classics like the crab tostadas, chicken mole, or the chile relleno. Waited patiently for an hour since we were told we were second on the waitlist, only to watch the hostess seat every party except us. At one point, after a two person group left, she sat a three party walk in and told us she couldn't sit us there because it wasn't a two person table. after a two person group got up? Came to this place for a group dinner and I would say this place is overpriced. The portion on the enchilada was good but the portion for tacos was way too little. I would say the flavor was a bit more bland to me thinking that Mexican food usually blast you with all different kind of flavors and senses. Fantastic food, and one of the best happy hours I've found so far in the city. We stopped into La Contenta Oeste on a Friday afternoon for drinks and small bites. It's a nice vibe: well-lit, laid-back, festive. I had two cocktails, the Mexican Firing Squad and the Mayan, both of which were excellent. We then shared the queso fundido, which could've been spicier or more distinctively flavorful but, comfort food-wise, really hit the spot. The scallops a la plancha were incredible - not 'Mexican,' really, but all the flavors of fall in a plate. AKA, just right for a cool autumn evening. At $20-25 for most large plates, the value-for-quality ratio is absolutely on-point. And so much other stuff on the menu looked great that we're looking forward to circling back soon. La Contenta Oeste is a great option for the 'happy-hour-into-dinner' evening out. Highly recommend, and will be returning again. read more

I stand by my last review that the location is still too cramped to comfortably accommodate large groups, however I came back with a girl friend and had a much better experience. The drinks here continue to impress so I highly recommend grabbing a cocktail with dinner. For entrees - this time around, I ordered the chicken enchiladas and felt that they were much more generously portioned than when I had ordered scallops last time. Overall, service was much better as well. My friend and I both had a lovely dinner so I'm glad I gave this location another chance. read more

If you want a strong drink try el mixteco if you're looking for a refreshing one try el moctezuma both were really good drinks. The service was great. I was not a fan of the regular nachos, they were a bit dry from what I'm Used to eating but the tacos were really good. Everyone was very friendly. I love this place. It's not a super fancy place but the food is delicious and the staff are friendly and extremely helpful with what to order from the menu. The hanger steak was tender, juicy and well seasoned. The tacos of course are excellent and make sure you try the house nachos. We were making strange moaning noises with each bite of the nachos. Went here with a few friends to grab a bite to eat on a busy Thursday night. We made a reservation and were able to be seated in the back room right away. To start off, we went with an order of the guacamole. The guacamole was decent--as were the chips--but nothing to write home about. For my main meal, I went with the chicken mole. For some reason, my dish came out 10 minutes after the rest of my table, but the wait was worth it. The chicken was so tender--though the mole sauce did not add as much flavor as I was hoping. The added risotto was also super flavorful and really elevated the dish. I also had the opportunity to try some of the shrimp enchiladas and was very impressed with the flavor--not only of the shrimp, but the tortilla as well. Throughout the night, we were sampling several of their drinks and actually really enjoyed all of them--they definitely have a great selection of cocktails. Me and my friend decided to try this restaurant out after perusing the restaurants that were participating in restaurant week. It was INCREDIBLE. The service was so friendly, welcoming and attentive! They didn't rush us and let us talk for long after we had finished (I promise we weren't holding up a table, when they started to fill up we obviously paid and left) the food is delicious and so fresh. We were greeted with a smile and they quickly find seats for us. The cocktails were on target. Great proportion and you knew you were drinking the drink you ordered. The food was amazing! I changed the configuration of my fish dish and they complied with a smile. 15 mins later I ask for more rice and there was no problem either. Now, let's talk about the service. Smiles describes Sasha our waiter. She knew her menu and made recommendations for us. She realized we were observing Lent and we're looking at no meat dishes.
