I really liked the Cajun Style crawfish restaurants when I lived in Southern California and the best of them was Broiling Crab. But I couldn't find anything close in San Antonio when I moved here. Therefore, I am so glad to see LA Crawfish open here even its a bit far from my house. Even this is no Broiling Crab, but at least it gets close enough, it will satisfy my occasional craving for Cajun. My favorite is the broiled shrimp with Cajun style and garlic butter. The Pho is surprisingly good and everything else I tried here are pretty tasty also. Food quality is pretty consistent and they tell you if the crawfish used is frozen ones during off season. The only thing holding me off from a 5 star are that it does not offer the whole shebang sauce recipe and they are a bit skimpy on everything else besides food, like not giving you any utensils, gloves, etc. for your togo order unless you ask them. And it's still not Broiling Crab but I am glad we have LA Crawfish in SA. read more

This place was worth the drive. I came out here with co-workers. I got the crawfish tail combo with fries. I also got 2 sausages (I know that's a lot) I was just interested in trying it all. The food was very well seasoned and crunchy (fries). My co-worker got the gumbo which had crawfish, shrimp, turkey, and other things But I could tell that it was good just by the smell. Always the perfect amount of crunch to my liking with jumbo fried shrimp, and I'm one to make sure and grab some crawfish any time I get a chance. I add in some corn and potatoes with a sausage piece or two and it's off to the races. All this makes me sound like a glutton, but I'd wear that badge with honor and over eat to my hearts content. This place is probably my families favorite place to go. It has something for everyone in the family. For me and the Mrs. we love the fact that it's BYOB. The last "B" isn't only beer but you can bring wine or anything else. We love and have tried all flavors of their wings. When we need a lot of wings we use to go to Wing Stop. Well not anymore now it's LA Crawfish. The Magic rice is amazing we get it with crawfish in it. My daughters love the snow crab, they both have different spicy levels and we can get it either way. Also the relax fun environment just makes it a great place for us. Great part is....it's reasonably priced. This place is pretty good for a 'transplant' cajun restaurant. Really the food is Cajun & Vietnamese, so my favorit has become the crawfish pho. Next would be the boiled crawfish...when it's in season. Which is one of the reasons I gave them a 4. Coming from a Louisiana heritage, I know crawfish. So when I saw that LA Crawfish had crawfish available out of season I was skeptical about the size. And I was right. The weight was the same, but the crawfish were small which makes it not worth peeling. Also, don't expect a traditional Louisiana seasoned crawfish. I still can't figure out what they add but there is a sweetness that comes with the spice (maybe orange juice). But I actually LOVE the flavor. Although I do like the shrimp, LA Crawifsh makes them a little overcooked. But again, the flavors are always really good. The wings are also tasty but they can be a little heavy handed on the seasoning. So I make sure to order mine with light seasoning. Bottom line. We ordered 6 pounds of the mild garlic butter crawfish, spicy garlic wings, and desert beignets. The beignets are a definite must to add that cherry on top of a good meal. It was sweet but not too sweet. UPDATE: I went back with my boyfriend on Sunday to get some more finger licking good crawfish, but to my dismay they were sold out. We drove about 30 mins to get there so we figured we would try something new off the menu. We ended up getting the shrimp in the garlic butter flavor, the raw oysters with all three flavors, and the cheesy crawfish rolls. The shrimp was pretty freaking good and that's a lot coming from me since I normally don't like eating shrimp. It was bursting with flavor. The oysters were ehh for me. I wasn't really digging the unique flavors they had since I usually like mine just raw with lemon and tobasco. My boyfriend however loved them. The cheesy crawfish rolls were quite interesting. They were basically eggrolls with cheese and crawfish bits inside. It was weird to look at, but super yummy in my tummy. Overall the food is pretty good and flavorful. Being Vietnamese, I'm pretty picky with how I like the Vietnamese Cajun flavor, but this place got it down. The floors were sticky and visibly dirty. The bathroom was very dirty (see photos) as well. We asked for them to clean it and they acknowledged. However it remained dirty the entire time we were there. That experience certainly took away from the overall rating but I can't take away how amazing the food tastes. Ok so my husband and I came here on a recommendation from a friend. But I was not satisfied. We got two lbs of king crab legs with garlic butter and Cajun sauce, two corns, and a basket of seasoned waffle fries. The waffle fries were not horrid but they weren't good either. The crabs were horrid. They tasted fishy and were chewy as well. I was only able to eat one crab leg. I started on a second but it was so chewy and fishy that I could not go any further. I gave it to my husband but he tasted the fishyness as well. That marked the end of our meal even though we had a few flaws left. The corn was good but that's hard to ruin. This place use to have higher standards. Now, sides portion size are smaller. $6.95 for a side is pretty steep especially to only receive a hand full of fries. The protein size and quality has decreased in their Baskets as well. Calamari was good in flavor but small in size as well. I had maybe 6-8 small bites of them. For the people who don't like to read entire reviews the food was ok but I've been to many Cajun style restaurants and never left hungry. Now for my full review the restaurant is clean which is good the staff was nice also a plus. My complaint with the place is I always make the same order no matter what Cajun place I eat at, and never leave hungry. This place was by far the most expensive one but for some reason I left hungry. Which leads me to believe the "pound" of shrimp I ordered wasn't a pound. The shrimp I did get was over cooked some of it would come apart as I try to peel it.
