I like mice and rats, I really do, but they just can't live in my house or garage or under my house. I ask them nicely to please leave, they refuse, they multiply. I hate killing living things. I have tried the ethical traps were you trap and re-home, but where I live there is no place to really re-home these guys. I would never use poison, that is just cruel and the traps worried me, but I found myself with little choice. I called a few companies and got outrageous pricing and one even told me to have them put garlic all over the place once a month for a fee. I found La Cucaracha, and called them. They were out when I wanted, the next day, saw what needed to be done, told me what it would cost that day. I asked them to come out the next week and they did. They got everything done and in place in a day. They were great and understanding of my issues having to kill these guys. Long ago, I used another pest control company for rats - in addition to constantly encouraging me to use poison (nope) they roped me into a monthly contract in which they spread some sort of garlic paste in the backyard. Didn't do anything for the rats, and my yard smelled terrible. Got rid of them. Then got a quote from another company that is very popular. They quoted me 3K to secure the house and set traps. Do you remember how muggy and disgusting it was in L.A. a couple months back? Well, I guess when the weather gets all east coast like that, the roaches come out to play. Matt B. and I have a storage space/laundry room in our garage, right under our place, and for a few weeks, every time we went inside and turned on the light, we'd see a disgusting brown roach scurry off into some corner. I eventually prevailed on Matt to kill it in an epic bug spray battle, but unfortunately, we were optimistic in thinking there was only the one. We were worried about roach eggs getting into our laundry and coming upstairs to where we actually live, so I called La Cucaracha. I'd never dealt with pest control before, so I don't have any basis for comparison, but the whole process struck me as very smooth and easy. I made an appointment for I think that day or the next over the phone, and the woman I talked to was very nice and helpful. The exterminator showed up on time and was totally great, friendly and knowledgeable about roaches. He explained that what we had were water bugs (which sound better than roaches but are equally gross), and that they probably came up from our drain when things got humid. He also told me that water bugs don't lay eggs--they have fucking live births, which is making me want to throw up even as I type, but at least that meant we didn't have to worry about them infiltrating our house all sneaky. He went downstairs to the infested space and pretty much just sprayed the whole thing along the bottom edges of the walls. It took him maybe five minutes and cost like $140 but you know what, absolutely worth it. He assured me that it would be effective for at least six months and that if I saw any live water bugs after five days, to call them back and they'd do follow-up work. It's been over a month and we haven't seen anything. La Cucaracha cleared out our pests and put our minds at ease. I hope I never have to call them again, but I will if the need arises. read more

I had a pest problem a couple of months ago. I tried my best to handle them myself and picked up pesticides at Home Depot which weren't as effective as I needed them to be. The theme song for La Cucaracha should be Megadeth's 'Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!' Yes, these guys are not just good, they're pretty awesome. I've used them on two separate occasions for rat problems at a couple of residential rental properties that I manage. The technicians that come onto the premise can look at an area and identify the point of intrusion and set traps to effectively catch any of those nasty critters that are in the dwelling. However, before doing that, they will make recommendations on how you can close off the access points either by yourself or, for a charge, they will close it off before setting the traps to catch the rat finks that are now trapped in the house. Their rates are very reasonable. Yes there is a $60 inspection charge, but when added to the fee for the actual work, it's competitively priced when compared to other pest control companies. Trust me, I did a lot of checking around before making the leap with them and there's a reason why they have as many positive Yelp reviews as they have. I think some of it may be for their friendly service but I bet most of it is for getting the job done by eradicating the pest problem and making sure that you know why the problem started in the first place and that you now know how to make sure that the problem won't become a problem again. read more

I can't say enough how they've dealt so well with all the the pesky issues we've had come along - ants, mice, rats, etc. We originally called Armando because a previous exterminator kept telling us we were making up that we heard mice. That exterminator set traps and "didn't find anything" yet my toddler and I started getting rat mites (looks like chicken pox) and had to see a dermatologist who basically told us what we had and to get rid of the vermin immediately. SO...Armando showed up as a second opinion, FOUND and trapped the mice and all was solved! From there on (since 2015), we've been working with him since and honestly call him a part of the family. I'm disappointed after reading all the great reviews. They said they'd come at 3:00 and showed up at 5:00. Then they promised to be back the next day to check traps and seal up my house so no more rats could come in, but they never showed and didn't call, either. When I called to check on the situation, the tech didn't answer. I called the office, and they didn't answer, either. I wanted to love these guys like everyone else, but...my house is still ratty and now I have to start over trying to find someone who will show up. ****update The guy did finally show up. He did a lot of work around the property, which made me feel better. But then he said he'd come back the next day and didn't show at all. I called him twice, and he never answered. My landlord called the office and didn't get a call back. Four days later, I still haven't seen or heard from him or from the office. I called again just now and nobody answered. Armando and his team are the best. Recently, we have heard little feet in our attic, scratching, fighting, annoying!!!! I was referred to Armando by someone in our neighborhood, and I called him. A very nice lady called me right away and arranged a time for him to come and inspect our home. By the same afternoon, Armando was at our house, assessing the situation and placing traps in the attic and in the crawl space beneath our house. He came by every day to check for mice and to remove them. He helped us catch a total of 7 mice! And he also hand-crafted new trap doors and removed any possible way for the mice to get back in. The man who picked up the phone had a horrible attitude, showed absolutely no interest in my ants problem. He told me that he will give me a call back. Never called me back. They're quick, thorough, friendly, and skilled! I highly recommend La Cucaracha! We were getting bites from rat mites (which we didn't know was rat mites until we found 2 of them crawling on our bathroom wall... yuck!), and that was a living hell for all of us. We tried everything to get rid of this nuisance, from catching rats with traps and even cleaning attics and placing a new insulation (which cost us a fortune) to no avail...! In desperation we called La Cucaracha. Tommy showed up the same day and did a thorough inspection the next day; he was able to find the entry point right then, and sealed it up. Tommy came back several times more to make sure the seal was working and helped us with traps. Within a few days of the seal-up, rats were gone. We asked this gentleman to come and help us deal with a cockroach problem we were having in our kitchen. He was pleasant, personable, and uses an incredible sort of gel paste that he injected with a syringe in hidden spots. We did not have to pull furniture from the walls, or empty our cabinets, or worry about poisons, powders, or sprays in our food or near our dogs. For good measure, we did ask him to come back one more time, which he did gladly. It has been over 18 months since, and I have not seen a single roach in that time. I tried to get a quote from La Cucaracha Pest Control. They are located very near to where I live. When I scheduled the appointment I was told that They required a $60 payment for an estimate. I said that would be fine if once I hired them this $60 was applied toward the work and was told no. This makes me very suspicious of how effective they are.
