on Google and on Yelp, it states that walk-ins are welcomed however, when I went to the salon at 11 AM, no one was there and there's a phone number on the door stating to call to book an appointment. I called the number twice and no one answered. Don't waste your time coming here. UPDATE -- Response to the owner: I'm updating my review after seeing the owner's response because unfortunately, I think it further reflects the customer service experience I had. To clarify, my issue was never that I expected to walk in and be guaranteed an immediate appointment. I completely understand that "walk-ins welcome" does not mean immediate availability. My issue is that your posted hours stated that the salon opened at 10 AM. I arrived at approximately 11 AM, an hour after the listed opening time, and the door was locked with no one inside. There was a phone number posted on the door instructing customers to call, so I called twice and received no answer. Additionally, contrary to your response, the number I called did not provide me with a voicemail option or instructions that allowed me to get assistance. When a business advertises that it is open beginning at 10 AM and welcomes walk-ins, I don't think it is unreasonable for a customer arriving at 11 AM to expect the business to at least be open or for someone to answer the posted contact number. I did not expect to be serviced immediately; I expected to be able to speak with someone. I also found the tone of the owner's response -- particularly "It's very easy!" -- unnecessarily dismissive rather than an attempt to understand why a potential customer was frustrated. A simple explanation that the salon operates primarily by appointment, or an acknowledgment that the posted hours did not reflect staffing that day, would have gone a long way. Reviews are meant to reflect a customer's experience, and this was mine. Found this place after looking for a place near by, i got a pedicure from Erica and i truly enjoyed it and really liked her! she took her time doing my nails and she had such calm and friendly energy as well. My appointment was pretty early so the salon was empty and it was just her an I, she still managed to make the ambiance comfortable :) prices are really affordable too! There was another lady working on a client, she told the lady who was supposed to do my eyebrows (Jennifer) twice that I was waiting. Jennifer told her twice I'll be right there. By 5:10 I decided to leave. Jennifer was just standing around talking to another employee like my time wasn't important. When I said I would be leaving and I wanted my deposit back Jennifer said ok I'll return it to you online. It will take 2 days. As if she didn't need the money. New to the neighborhood and i had to find a new place to get my nails done STAT! I went on Yelp and found this cute place just around the corner from where i live! The appointment scheduling is easy and done online. You choose what service and other add ons. You do have to pay a deposit that goes towards your final payment. I had gotten a pedicure prior to getting my nails done ( just to see if i liked it) and i loved it! Kathy has been my tech for both services and she is super sweet! I also met the owner who also works there and she offered me water! Little things like that are a major plus! I went in for a gel manicure/fill (nail builder). When I walked in it seemed pretty quiet/chill. The person was there alone. The lady was very sweet/nice however I asked for a gel manicure but all that was done was a fill w/ gel builder & then she just added color. I ended up paying $90 with tip. I guess it sorta was my fault for not paying too much attention to the work that was being done on me as well as not looking at the final look. I had to make another trip to my old salon to get them redone.... I just couldn't walk around town with those nails.... I was looking for a place to get a last minute pedicure today and I found this place. I called and got an appointment a couple hours later. Parking was pretty much non existent. There were a few spots next to the store but they were taken so I had to park down the street in a resident area. The color selection was pretty decent, And all of the colors seemed pretty new and not watered down. Tata did my pedicure and she was funny. She gave me some pointers on spas to go to and I can't wait to try them out. She did a pretty job, my only complaint is that they had the roll up pedicure stools where the manicurist sits on the stool and you put feet against their weight of the stool? I felt like the pedicure chairs were too low for this and I've previously injured my knee so it wasn't the most comfortable. First time here I loved the place. Second time in attempting to go here, I had messaged ahead to let them know I'd be 10 minutes past my appointment time as it was likely parking would be hard to find. 12:09, when looking for parking I get a call asking if I was on my way. Only slightly annoying that they could call but not double check if I had messaged earlier. 12:10 I go inside and not only was the hand sanitizer or hand washing before not suggested, the temp gun lay next to the hand sanitizer unused. All good as I am 10 min behind and I test every 48 hrs for work but it made me hesitant to just sit down. The tech informs me that the $20 deposit wouldn't be put toward my services due to my 10 min tardiness. I ask her to repeat herself because that is ludicrous for a place that doesn't have parking. Even as a business owner I give a 15 minute grace period because stuff happens. Yeah, that policy has me irate. She says she is uncomfortable because I was saying that the policy was bull shit. The young lady that helped me was friendly and knew what she was doing. Second time, I had Raquel try a new design. Raquel was detailed with my nails and careful. My nails look chunky too, and I feel like it's because it wasn't filed down very evenly. I really wanted to like my nails and the place, but now I don't think I can bring myself to go back. The ambience is really chill and relaxing. LA Cutie's is a small hidden gem. I'm not sure who the owner is but the establishment is nicely kept and the staff is very friendly. Parking is absolutely a hassle (although the shop is on a busy Main Street ADAMS BLVD) it is also in a residential neighborhood. Parking is scarce and either you park across the street or drive around, if you're lucky you may find parking right infront of the shop. I have been serviced for gel manicure, regular, and gel pedicure. Gel manicures are decent but I wouldn't do it again. Their pedicures are well worth it with regular polish. I will update in a week or two as I tried their gel polish pedicure. Also, ask about their star rewards program. read more

Man, this was an unfortunate visit... I just moved to the neighborhood and wanted to try a new nail spot. Whoever I spoke to on the phone said she was the owner and seemed super sweet, made an appointment for me for 5:30 pm and she told me there's only a 5 minutes grace period. I arrived a few minutes early to find an employee surprised I was there -- she called the owner and was on the phone for 5 minutes and then hung up, didn't tell me anything. I had to ask what was going on and she said the owner was just across the street and had to see if she could take me because she might have to take care of someone else first... 20 minutes later I asked again and she said again "she'll be here any second to take care of you"... 30 min later She never showed up and the employee didn't care to communicate much to me. For a first time customer, this is so off putting. Also, they told me a plain (no design) gel-x manicure and regular pedicure would take 2-3 hours. HOW?! This is something you should disclose to your customers before they come in. I am heading to my best friends wedding tomorrow and will have to get my nails done in another country... West Adams has a gem. Local owned and operated. To quote Biz Markie, "Damnit feels good to see people up on it" I researched a new nail extension but most of the salons that do it aren't close or charge $80-$100 for a full set ( but don't have parking near their shops & super inconvenient appointment schedules) I called Cuties and after an initial mix up regarding the Apres Gel X nail system, she not only had it but was able to take me the same day. It's a small shop and it's growing so expect some growing pains ( be patient it's a small team). The staff was very pleasant and I love love my nails so far. No drill, no stinking powder... So I'm in the hood/mid-city wondering where I can get my nails done. Somewhere local I surmised but without the characters. A place that isn't reminiscent of that scene in Baby Boy... I hop on Yelp and I filter for what's open at 11am on a Sunday- and lo and behold LA Cuties is open. I walk in and I'm impressed the vibe is modern reminiscent of Laque and I'm sold. Except there aren't any spa chairs and I'm sitting in this oversized white chair with my feet in those portable spa trays filled with lukewarm water. ok. But there's 10% off on your first check-in so I roll with the punches. Except my hot towel isn't hot. And the technician walks away and leaves a cold towel on my feet for a few minutes. Ok. Except my pedicure looks pretty fucking good. And I haven't been this satisfied in awhile. And then the technician walks away to leave my pedi to air dry. Only disappointed due to Jacqueline cutting into my cuticles. I was hoping she'd only push them back but she went in and cut two of them which STILL burn really bad. Not to mention, she didn't make me feel comfortable, she was very rude & made me feel unwelcome (which is fine maybe she was having a bad day??) It seemed like she was having troubling cutting my cuticles since she was going in so aggressively but in my opinion they looked fine before she went in and cut them. I am aware that it's apart of the manicure but I personally feel like it's not beneficial whatsoever since they protect from infections and bacteria... Overall the salon is very clean and beautiful, and the young lady who greeted me and the one who charged me was very nice and professional. However I was disappointed at how i'm left with painful cuts and uneven nails, and at her attitude. She asked if I wanted to cut them or just have them filed down and I agreed to cutting them and she continued to file them leaving them uneven. I ended up with short nails on my left hand and long nails on my right?? Overall the job was messy for the price ($33 classic mani + acrylic removal)....
