3 stars. The staff has always been nice and helpful, so no complaints there. But the gym etiquette from a lot of the members is honestly terrible. The crowd is very young and there seems to be zero respect for re-racking weights or wiping down equipment after using it. I can count on one hand the number of people I've actually seen clean equipment when they're done. Maybe management should put up more signs reminding people to wipe things down and re-rack their weights, because it's gotten pretty gross at times. The gym itself has potential, but the lack of basic gym etiquette makes it frustrating to work out there. read more

So the Kent location is closer to me. That being said, the Covington location opened up reformer Pilates and my husband and I decided to join LA Fitness just for the reformers. We started June 2025, we go to this location 3 days a week. As soon as you walk up to check in, every single person who has worked the desk has been cordial and friendly to us. I mean it's 730am class and it's so early. But they always say welcome in, with a smile. The juice gal greets me every morning I'm there, then says goodbye with a smile on her face on our way out. Now as far as the Pilates instructors, so far everyone has been wonderful. We've learned a lot. We've had one grumpy instructor in the beginning, but she was gone after a few classes. Not sure what happened to her, but she wasn't a happy camper. I'll spare mentioning her name. But our favorites have been Elizabeth, Kelly, and now Jolene. Our other two fave either had to go back to a regular 9 to 5, which is Cathy, and Josh moved to another center. All have been fantastic including the subs. We joined through our health insurance which was a great deal, and to join reformer Pilates it's an extra 99.00 a month per person unlimited. We were grandfathered in so not sure how much it is now but I'm sure it's still a better price than other Pilates studios out there. So much less in price than Club Pilates for sure, and most of the time you are on a wait list, and can't get the class you want. Only reason I didn't give this location a 5 star is because the pool area. 1. The water gnats I would see were out in abundance on the walls. Means they were coming from the pipes, and something needed to be cleaned. Then the whirlpool looked rusty and needed cleaning. Which they finally did but it took a while to clean up. So we haven't used it for a while now. It's not LA fitness fault but more like the members when in the whirlpool. Sometimes I enter the whirlpool and it smells like really strong perfume/Cologne ugh...so off pudding!!! But I do Have to say that this LA Fitness is much more cleaner than the one by my house where my family found mushrooms growing in the shower ugh! I would definitely avoid this organization totally. The representative and management lie consistently about their policies and do anything to keep you tied to a contract that you specifically did not ask for. Then they lie about what they said they told you. This goes for how long the contract is, medical reasons to put the membership on hold and that they contacted you to explain and discuss the policy.Very unprofessional behavior by the so called trainers and management. Playing cards during work hours, ignoring clients hen they come in and not being available since they have 2 hour lunches. No wonder there is a lawsuit filed by the FTC against the organization. This is not and upstanding hones company. Avoid them at all costs. This facility always has something out of order and doesn't work plus don't have the programs they say they do. read more

The jets on the hot tub have been broken for months. Each time I ask about it the staff says they have no ETA on repairs. Not that it's the fault of the company, but there is a bit of a culture problem among a number of the most vocal members at this location. To me, it doesn't seem very welcoming to people of color or members of the LGBTQ+ community. The staff is always friendly and other than the pool, hot tub, and showers, the rest of the facility is well maintained. read more

Raquetball courts are blasting heat for months. So hot no one can enjoy themselves. Operations manager just states the problem is hvac and so she can't do anything. Sauna was broken for months before finally getting fixed. Otherwise a good gym but this issue is a serious problem and the manager's response is terrible. read more

Coming across someone else's steaming pile of feces packed into a toilet bowl with half a roll of toilet paper is a tale as old as time. This review is more of my way of criticizing, condemning, showing disgust and disappointment, and slamming as hard as I can, the fellow gym member who decided to destroy the toilet and force some poor, underpaid, under appreciated LA fitness gym member to have to clean up their disgusting mess. Low and behold I pressed the button and it all went away, so the re[dac]ted gorilla that left it there in the first place clearly left it there on purpose or just didn't possess enough neurons to press a button. Gym has great WiFi, (unlike Kent Kangley). I'd expect the staff to do a better job of cleaning up the toilets, but then you'd need staff to do that. You can't just abandon the front desk, so maybe I'm not blaming the staff but maybe the corporate side of LA fitness for not compensating it's "grunts" enough to scoop up and clean up someone else's massive load of feces. No staff should have to clean that up for the current wage they make. read more

When first enrolled I wasn't pleased with how the staff attended to my attention. They should be more professional and have proprietary knowledge of how to give their patrons the best service possible. Upon returning to actually use the facility, they were better and actually guided me on how and where the Aerobics class works. Raphael made my experience a pleasant one. Came here for a workout on a weekday in the morning, around 0745. The place was very CLEAN and not a lot of ppl working out.. The lady at the front desk was friendly. When I left around 0900, there were a bit more people, but still not that busy. Plenty of machines and equipment! This is my first time here, so I don't know how the cleanliness is later on in the day.. BUT.. I'm from San Diego and just here visiting, and this location is great in comparison. The LA fitness back home is ALWAYS busy and full of people, ALWAYS in need of a little cleaning.. I've also gone to a location in Glendale, Az that was the same decent quality as this location... So in conclusion, no complaints (based on this one visit, so far).. And a decent place to work out... read more

I come here about 4 times a week because of convenience. The gym itself is nit bad, but dinner time is too packed ... I can work with that just come a different time. But my biggest issue is CLEWN THE MENS BATHROOM ... it's smells like it hasn't been bleached in months and it really affects the entire experience. I can't imagine you would let the restroom go a day , let alone a week to a month without mopping the floors with bleach or some other cleaner. If they start doing that I would have had them at a 4 star but if the bathrooms are that dirty, I imagine the machines and weights are never cleaned either read more

Wow this place was disappointing. I went in for the 3 day trial and got there at 8am since that's when the kids club opens. I signed up for the trial ahead of time and had a printed certificate. The front desk person tells me that he can't scan the certificate and let us in until a salesperson shows up in about 15-20 minutes and to come back later. I have a 2 year old with me and leaving and coming back isn't a great option. He says we can wait. I ended up waiting in the front lobby for 40 minutes with an ever restless toddler getting fussier and fussier. No one ever showed up so we left. What a waste of time. No where on the trial certificate or during sign up did it say I have to come at certain hours. Also I'm mostly just interested in using the pool but it was completely full when we were there. The front desk person said it's usually like that and that it's less busy earlier in the morning, but the kids club isn't open then. I also saw a lady wearing regular sneakers IN the pool. So gross and no one said anything to her. On a separate occasion I took a tour and there was only one little girl (maybe 4 years old) in the kids club at the time. The person working the kids club was completely ignoring the little girl and was just staring at her phone. There also weren't any toys for the kids. It was pretty sad. We'll be checking out other gyms instead. read more

I would give this center a negative star if that was possible. I've got absolutely worst treatment possible. I don't believe that anywhere in the US I got such an unprofessional service. I pretty much spent about $300 and was unable to use the facility not even once. In early July, before going on vacation I spoke to Derek W., the sales manager, who sold me the most expensive membership. I left for vacation thinking that I will be able to use the facility with my 3 years old daughter. Imagine my frustration when, returning there in August I was told that my daughter should actually be at least 12 years old to use it. After I expressed my disappointment I was told by the lady at the reception that the manager will contact me. Which they didn't. I ended writing to the LA Fitness Customer Service, and they gave me the phone number of the office of the operations manager Sydney. And noted that they also sent the note to her to reach me. She never did in the whole 10 days she had after my email exchange with the Customer Service. As I had the phone number I tried to reach Sydney myself. At my fifth attempt I was able to reach her. Not only didn't she apologize, but also she made it sound like that was my fault, as I had whole 3 days to cancel the membership getting all the money back. And since I was out o country that was probably my problem. Will never use LA Fitness and will advice my friends not to use it either. read more

I started a gym membership here about a month ago. It was rocky getting started. The fitness assessment first, then getting used to the weights and so forth. I've only taken one class. But what I really enjoyed was being able to find a fitness center near me. No matter where I was in Washington. I'll be continuing with the location near my house. If I'm in another area it's fun to see what the differences are. I'd recommend La fitness if you are a traveler or your job requires you to be in different parts of a state. A very poorly maintained gym. Machines are often scheduled for maintenance for weeks or even months. Once I complained and the manager tried to convince me I should be using a different machine anyway. I know my way around a gym and wasn't interested in a coaching session as a replacement for properly maintaining the equipment my fees pay for. I've been a member here since it opened. However in spite of the convenience of the location I am seriously considering my options. I'm tired of this crap. read more

If I could give this place less than one star I would, I canceled my account with them because their service and management is horrible, yet they kept on charging me for training that I had not been receiving for over a year and a half. When I asked the manager Sydney she blamed that on me because I "should've known to cancel my training along with my membership" and hung up on me. They kept charging me $65 a month for training that I had not been receiving. This place makes it so easy to sign up for anything you want at any point yet when you need to cancel anything you have to call corporate and jump through all these loops and hoops! Planet fitness just open right across the street, I highly recommend them! read more

They do not reinforce the wearing of mask in the facility, including the trainers and staff. When I asked one of the staff about this and reminded him that he also was not wearing the mask, he said "oh yea..." and half-heartily went to a couple of members to put their mask on. If a management member is reading this, I would encourage that you reinforce this mandate or you are part of the problem in spreading the virus. read more

Super clean gym but thats it, gone there for a few months now going elsewhere. No one even where there are two behind desk ever even looks up to welcome, however I am almost ok with this. But, maybe I am crazy but for 4 - 5 months they can not get their weigh scale working, its always off by a few pounds, I ask almost daily. There are four LA Fitness locations that I regularly work out in, but Covington is a stand out. Not in a good way. There are currently six broken treadmills of the nineteen (for two weeks now) and two fully functioning Precor machines out of the six. The two lower level Stairmasters are both broken. The last pull down pin is broken off. On Saturday, there were no ten pound dumbells available. The sauna appears to be working, but it hardly matters since the whole gym is unbearably humid with no moving air. Weight machine clients seem to lift their phones more than the weights, and again I had to lift 180 pounds of weight off a machine, as nobody seems to rerack their weights. Staff...just is. Sorry all. But I'd suggest a visit to Auburn or Fairwood or Kent Update 2/28/20: Kudos, LA Fitness! Remodeled, new machines, and a HUGE music change this week! Very well done. I rotate between the Covington, Kent, and the Fairwood locations nowadays. For my training needs, this location has mostly everything I prefer to have. Here's how I think Covington's location fares against the other two locations I go to: The typical black tri-fold mats that people use for stretching appear to be more accessible than in Fairwood. Cardio machine availability is about the same in all locations. Around the same amount of machines are down for maintenance. They have a variety of biking, elliptical, and treadmill machines. AT&T customers are not likely to get reception at all in this location. This makes it hard for me to listen to my music at the gym. So I just end up wearing my headphones and pretend like I'm listening to something. Sauna has been accessible and working regularly. I mention this because many times I've visited Kent and Fairwood and I guess the clients there pour water over the heaters, which leads to people having no access to sauna while it gets repaired. Other members seem to be a bit more considerate of personal space in the weights area than at other locations. I don't feel like I'm being eyed, people mind their own business, and people are usually considerate about cleaning and using equipment. When I can make it, I love going to Cyndee's Body Works Plus Abs class on Saturday mornings. Her class is popular so be sure to come early and snag a spot if you want to attend. I think she might be one of my favorite instructors that teaches this class out of all the other locations. She will give you a great workout! I feel like this location doesn't get as busy as other locations during prime time hours. And although you should still secure your belongings, but I feel safer about not getting my stuff get jacked than at the Kent location. I am not expecting amazing customer service since this is a facility where you kinda serve yourself and just respect others and the equipment. Staff doesn't badger me to pay for personal training here and I am happy with a courteous greeting as I sign-in. The facility seems clean enough. Therefore, I am content with what I'm paying for. read more
