Bones were limited as they do a nice job of removing the main parts. Very much reminds me of a similar dish we had in Barcelona 2 years ago. Checked via Yelp and got a free desert. Food is very good. However, the service is very difficult to accept. I have been there a couple of times, and I have noticed that even though I tell the cashier we are eating in, we are told that we have to order, pay, and pick up the food from the cashier. Meanwhile, everyone else in the restaurant orders from their table, receives food at their table, and pays at their table. I don't know why this is; it feels increasingly racially motivated. However, the food is delicious. If this happens again, I will take serious issue with it. read more

This was a nice lunch spot within walking distance from our hotel and looked like they had a good selection of chicken & rice dishes as well as some seafood. Staff doesn't speak much english; we asked for forks and they brought a salt shaker out, but we managed to mime our way through lunch like a game of charades. A group of five of us ended up at La Granja after exercising. When we arrived, it was pretty packed, but we somehow managed to get the last available tables. No big deal. We ordered relatively quickly, although food did take its time to arrive. A friend even tried timing it, as he claims that they always take awhile. We all got distracted and eventually forgot this. I had the half chicken plate with rice and beans. This was my first time at this chain and it wasn't half bad, but I still much prefer Pollo Tropical. Call it habit if you will. Prices are economical, but it's still a pain when they refuse point blank to split a check. They had a group of around ten people in the table over, so I can understand why, but then they left. It makes no sense to me as to why they couldn't just split the check when things got calmer, but oh well. The waitress was nice enough and honored our Yelp check-in offers. Needless to say, quite a variety of free desserts. While it didn't make up for the check debacle, at least that was pleasant and the food was decent. Very generous portions, too. Not sure if all of this chain are like this or if it was just my particular experience. Would return to see if there is a difference. Would probably not go out of my way to return though. read more

Garlic fish 10/10, sauce was very creamy and bursting with flavor! It was very rich and the fish was cooked to perfection. Macho fish 10/10, this sauce was just as creamy , but it definitely had more of a kick if you like some spice in your life lol. The fish was also cooked to perfection! This Peruvian gem gets me every time I am in Florida, though this was my first visit to this more, date I say, upscale location. The menu definitely differs from location to location (for example, this one does NOT have the delicious yellow rice available in North Lauderdale), but variety is the spice of life, right? I was dining solo on a business trip this time, so when I saw my familiar guilty pleasure La Granja was just a block from my hotel, I just couldn't resist. However, on this visit I committed to NOT ordering my "usual" chicken dinner which turned out in my favor, big time. I went with the Macho Fish (requested mine grilled as opposed to fried), which is essentially a Peruvian spicy seafood stew slathered over top of a generous piece of white fish. Gotta admit that every single bite was delicious. In addition to the submerged, grilled fillet, there were shrimp, mussels, calamari and scallops swimming in the tastiest of saffron broths (all it need for perfection was some yellow rice!). I also ordered a side of the sweet plantains, which were every bit as good as they are in North Lauderdale. I've been a fan of this place for years now and the quality never seems to dwindle so it's certainly reliable and consistent. The fluffy white rice is a perfect accompaniment for the juicy chicken when you're looking for a "no frills" dinner that's big in taste. Parking is easiest by meter and taking it to go is a breeze when you call ahead to place your order. They take advantage of the fact most people don't check their bill. It'll have one price on the menus but you may be charged higher for certain when the bill is finalized. After a long day at a conference I was looking for a place Downtown that was different. My brother came across this restaurant and I thought the menu looked good so we tried it. When we walked into the restaurant there was a good amount of people eating there so I took that as a good sign. The server was very courteous and even recommended some dishes. This is a kind of neighborhood place I could drop in once a week. Not expensive and a unique menu that is parts roasted chicken, parts Peruvian and parts New Orleans Cajun. I had a meal that included a salad with house vinegar dressing, steak, shrimp, tiny scallops and grilled onions and tomatoes. I selected the fried plantains (banana family) as a side. Food came up fast. Service was friendly and the manager stopped over to check on me too. I washed it down with a golden Inca cola (diet). The menu has so many items, I was not sure what to order. I finally deccided to go with the lomo saltado when I got my dish I was quite impressed with the presentation. It looked great but looks something like. This was the wworst lomo saltado I have ever had. The meat was so tough and the rice under cooked. Perhaps I order the wrong dish for this restaurant, I've heard it's best to go with chicken but I was not pleased at all. However, I did enjoy the green and orange sauces they have.
