I love La Madeline. I have loved them since their store first opened in Highland Village in Houston. I deeply miss the savory lemony rosemary chicken a la carte. I order the ceasar salad because it is topped with the delicious chicken. Best chicken ceasar in town! The manager is awesome at this location. There was an error with the delivery and it has to do with the zip code population and correction from a master data system down to payment procedures. I usually catch it when placing orders with various businesses- because it fails on all sorts of delivery and logistics systems. This time I missed it. When the wrong zip code passed through Olo.com incorrectly the third party driver services app was misreporting location to the driver for delivery. Olo.com probably needs to evaluate where the zip code population came from and update it. When my delivery was botched the manager got into her own car and made the delivery for me. I appreciate you! I will not be using free gift certificates (thank you) as I love your business and this error is a data cascading issue that effects many businesses not just yours. You already went the extra mile today (literally got in her car and drove the extra mile)! read more

Located at the Huebner Oaks shopping center, this location is easy to access, especially for a quick trip. I didn't realize they have pastries and bakery items available for pick up. I always thought it was more restaurant. So I decided to stop in one evening to look for a baguette. I was happy to find that I can drop in and pick up a variety of baked goods. Tonight, all I needed was the bread. $3 a baguette is a lovely deal but of course the tip culture... What do I tip on a loaf that I'm paying for and I picked out myself? Anyway, it definitely beats going into HEB, navigating the parking lot, finding a spot, finding the bakery at the back, waiting on line to pay, and remembering where I parked. read more

I had the French toast breakfast which came with French toast, eggs, and sausage. The French toast was very rich and buttery. The eggs were also buttery but tasted phenomenal. The sausage was good as well. I love the large portions here. I had the hot chocolate as my drink. It was rich and creamy. My husband had the fruit and Nutella crepe. The crepe was light and the fillings were hearty. He also had the coffee. There was complimentary bread by the drink station. I loved the fresh bread with freshly made butter and preserves. This is always a nice, affordable French-style café to visit when you're craving that authentic taste of French cuisine. The quaint ambience feels wonderfully cozy and inviting. That said, it's always better to come during off-peak hours otherwise, it can feel like a madhouse packed into a sardine can. You can't beat the cheap mimosas for brunch. My go-to dish is the Croque Madame, an excellent, generous portion of the classic French hot sandwich, made with ham and Gruyère cheese on bread, topped with a creamy béchamel or Mornay sauce and a fried or sunny-side-up egg. It makes me want one just talking about it. The desserts in their display case look far more tempting than they actually taste. But no matter, I don't come here for the pastries and treats. Kind of depressing. I went in there to get a croissant and the outdoor windows were filthy and one of the doors look like it had been pried, and that was my first indication of what it was going to be like inside. The restroom was not in great shape and when you went to use the faucet it pretty much pulled out of the sink. The whole place was just sort of dirty and grimy and clearly had seen better days -- if they ever had been better. I found the croissant I wanted to order for me and my husband, but it was five bucks for a tiny one and it didn't look particularly tasty. It was OK but nothing great. In the meantime, they're selling bran muffins and pretty generic breakfast things. I definitely would not have wanted to eat here as a restaurant. The whole thing just seemed grubby and like I was lucky to get out of there. Will not be back. That other one at The Rim, Bakery Lorraine, is pretentious with an absurdly long wait, but at least it delivers. San Antonio is so second-rate sometimes. Delicious as always. It's been awhile since we've been to this la Madeleine but lunch was just as fantastic as we were hoping it would be. The server who helped us was quick with our order and let me pick out which Friand I'd like for my meal as we went in during a slow period. The place was clean, the pastry shelf was stocked with delicious sweet and savory treats, and, as is the norm for this restaurant chain, we were greeted and thanked by the staff in French and heard French lessons being played overhead in the bathrooms. This time around, we ordered a Bowl of Tomato Basil Soupe and the Chicken Friand. The Tomato Basil Soupe was delicious, creamy, and savory, and though I am typically not a fan of tomato soups, this one has always been the exception. Since the self-serve bread bar was not available at this location, we made sure to ask the staff for some bread to eat with it and enjoy it to the fullest. It is incredibly delicious and I love that they sell it in jars to take home. My Chicken Friand was to die for. The flaky pastry was crunchy with just the right amount of softness and didn't overpower the spices of the tender chicken and sautéed mushrooms. I always ask for extra sauce as it is one of my favorite parts to this dish and they delivered. It was creamy, hot, and spiced deliciously with even more mushrooms to top off the pastry. I'd definitely recommend this location for la Madeleine fans and those who've never tried this chain before. The French comfort food and overall chateau aesthetic of the restaurant is always so enjoyable, especially for meal with friends. Make sure to pick up a Lemon Tarte while you're there! read more

Me and my friend came here to get work done and the ambiance is great. It did get a bit busy (was here around 6:40 pm - 8:30 pm) but it did not get too loud and was a perfect feel to get in the 'mood to get work done.' The wifi is great as well. The French country decor including a real fire place makes this place unique. I recommend taking dates and people from out of town here. Or mom on Mothers Day. The decor & theme is complete even in the restrooms- weird to say, I know, but do visit if only to see the old style floor hexagonal tiles and artwork. Everyone was busy - clerks, cooks, servers. Efficient and helpful. Food = good! We had a custom order omelette made of Swiss cheese, mushrooms and tomatoes, which I'd order again, and the French country breakfast with bacon and sausage. The potato cake is an eye catcher. They have a separate area at the front upon entering for grab n go orders with baked goods on display. The coffee/drink bar is nifty. Yes, nifty because you can grab an assortment of things like honey, salsa, and a variety of sugars. I really enjoyed the French coffee. I'm not French but after visiting here, I'm a little envious. My mom took me for lunch here the other day to have lunch together. We went around 12pm and luckily we did because we missed the lunch rush! My daughter and I always share food so we had a turkey bistro with fruit on the side and it was enough for us! We actually had left overs to take home which we ate a day later and it was still good. Customer service was great we were greeted right when we walked in and we were thanked for coming when we were leaving. Tried something new here and it was not my favorite. I tried their grilled cheese for the first time. It didn't really have a cheesy flavor but as always, the tomato soup was amazing. The La Madeline brand isn't what it used to be. I've stopped at this location before and this experience has left me without any interest in returning. The service was more like neglect as I tried to get my order. At 0930 am, the quiche was cold and the crust was undercooked. The coffee was barely warm enough to drink. To top it off, a customer was carrying her lap dog and allowed it to rest on the coffee/utensil bar as she gathered her utensils followed by placing the dog on the table as she settled in to eat. I know people tend to bring their dogs everywhere these days but they and the employees that watched this show should exercise some degree of control in public spaces.
