    Croque Madame
    Ryan W.

This is always a nice, affordable French-style café to visit when you're craving that authentic taste of French cuisine. The quaint ambience feels wonderfully cozy and inviting. That said, it's always better to come during off-peak hours otherwise, it can feel like a madhouse packed into a sardine can. You can't beat the cheap mimosas for brunch. My go-to dish is the Croque Madame, an excellent, generous portion of the classic French hot sandwich, made with ham and Gruyère cheese on bread, topped with a creamy béchamel or Mornay sauce and a fried or sunny-side-up egg. It makes me want one just talking about it. The desserts in their display case look far more tempting than they actually taste. But no matter, I don't come here for the pastries and treats. The kids always seem to enjoy coming here as well. Will continue to pop in for brunch!

Haven't been here in awhile. I still get a feel of coziness when I come here. Came here for lunch after church and was glad they had a new option of Pick 3. Get a half sandwich, side and drink for as low as $8.99 depending on your sandwich and side. I ordered the Turkey bistro sandwich with a cup of their wonderful tomato soup and a glass of ice tea. Everything was delicious and my stomach was satisfied without being stuffed. I have nere had a bad experience here and the food and employees are always great.

    Country French Breakfast!

Excellent breakfast! We were in the neighborhood and had not been here in a really long time. It was great! Excellent food, excellent coffee, and nice people - right down to the "merci" we heard over and over. Bravo to the perfect "over hard" eggs! Very good!

The food, service and ambience is where it's at here. We had the omelet and the French toast breakfast and everything was quite delightful. We will be back again real soon! Thanks!

Salad and chicken. Very little salad.

Last night I picked up food and I was pleasantly surprised that my pesto chicken pasta was really good. Thank you guys for making my dinner so yummy!!!! The coconut cream cake was delicious as well.

All in all this location is very nice very clean. Looks weird from the outside for sure but inside you definitely get that French Café fuel. The employees are absolutely wonderful. You have a great cook in the back. His name is Jerry such a good guy so sweet just all in all amazing customer service and then the management is also fabulous Mike is very kind and efficient. The food was delicious everything came out great as you can tell hardly anything is left I will definitely be back to support my fellow Kings.

Great for brunch. It is a quick service, therefore can be slow and have a line. Try their coffee they have American and French options and decaf. The breakfast sandwich tasted average and very simple. It does come with an option of fruit salad side, which tasted delicious. We did get the regular size fruit tart, delicious. Overall quick and easy, average food. Slow service, though, took about 30 minutes for our food to come out. Spacious seating though find your seat fast as it fills up. They have self-serve coffee, so can keep refilling your own coffee. On a good note, they do have great condiments which included gray poupon Dijon mustard!

Delicious as always. It's been awhile since we've been to this la Madeleine but lunch was just as fantastic as we were hoping it would be. The server who helped us was quick with our order and let me pick out which Friand I'd like for my meal as we went in during a slow period. The place was clean, the pastry shelf was stocked with delicious sweet and savory treats, and, as is the norm for this restaurant chain, we were greeted and thanked by the staff in French and heard French lessons being played overhead in the bathrooms. This time around, we ordered a Bowl of Tomato Basil Soupe and the Chicken Friand. The Tomato Basil Soupe was delicious, creamy, and savory, and though I am typically not a fan of tomato soups, this one has always been the exception. Since the self-serve bread bar was not available at this location, we made sure to ask the staff for some bread to eat with it and enjoy it to the fullest. It is incredibly delicious and I love that they sell it in jars to take home. My Chicken Friand was to die for. The flaky pastry was crunchy with just the right amount of softness and didn't overpower the spices of the tender chicken and sautéed mushrooms. I always ask for extra sauce as it is one of my favorite parts to this dish and they delivered. It was creamy, hot, and spiced deliciously with even more mushrooms to top off the pastry. I'd definitely recommend this location for la Madeleine fans and those who've never tried this chain before. The French comfort food and overall chateau aesthetic of the restaurant is always so enjoyable, especially for meal with friends. Make sure to pick up a Lemon Tarte while you're there!

Wish there were more locations of La Madeline, especially in Austin. Their food / meals are always good! When you join their "club" on the app, you get a free pastry birthday gift. I got the chocolate torte, and I couldn't resist and bought my favorite Linzer cookie that they offer

    My view.

As soon as you walk in you are greeted! I got the Turkey Bistro and the Classic French toast, which were delicious and was very satisfied with my choice. It was a simple and classic taste. Me and my friend came here to get work done and the ambiance is great. It did get a bit busy (was here around 6:40 pm - 8:30 pm) but it did not get too loud and was a perfect feel to get in the 'mood to get work done.' The wifi is great as well. I am looking forward to coming here again! (The only bad thing I can think of is that there are not many outlets available by the tables.)

The French country decor including a real fire place makes this place unique. I recommend taking dates and people from out of town here. Or mom on Mothers Day. Our family likes this place and we have eaten here a handful of times. Never had a bad meal here. The decor & theme is complete even in the restrooms- weird to say, I know, but do visit if only to see the old style floor hexagonal tiles and artwork. Everyone was busy - clerks, cooks, servers. Efficient and helpful. Food = good! We had a custom order omelette made of Swiss cheese, mushrooms and tomatoes, which I'd order again, and the French country breakfast with bacon and sausage. The potato cake is an eye catcher. They have a separate area at the front upon entering for grab n go orders with baked goods on display. The coffee/drink bar is nifty. Yes, nifty because you can grab an assortment of things like honey, salsa, and a variety of sugars. I really enjoyed the French coffee. I'm not French but after visiting here, I'm a little envious. It makes for a memorable visit.

My mom took me for lunch here the other day to have lunch together. We went around 12pm and luckily we did because we missed the lunch rush! My daughter and I always share food so we had a turkey bistro with fruit on the side and it was enough for us! We actually had left overs to take home which we ate a day later and it was still good. Customer service was great we were greeted right when we walked in and we were thanked for coming when we were leaving. The inside of the place was so nice they had a little fire place inside which was perfect because it was slightly chilly in there so we sat next to it.

Thankfully the hosts found me and my party a table. Our server was bright, communicative, and genuinely attentive. The grits blew my mind with it's rich butter and creamy texture while still have the grain texture. The fried tomatoes were met with a cornmeal fried crispy crunch and a juicy almost like it was marinated in lemon juice for a bit. The bacon was pretty good like a thick chunky sweet bacon strip. I personally like it a bit thinner and more crispy. I like that they offer orange juice and mango juice. My 2nd visit I knew better to get a reservation but it was completely booked when I looked to make a reservation the morning of. It was a Saturday morning. I walked in hoping anyways at 11am. They surprisingly had seats available outside this Texas summer lol. The meat pies were okay a little too greasy. I may be biased on Irish pub style meat pies. The nachos with boudin sauce and a lemon sour cream was out of this world with flavor. It what bean dip wishes it could be. I was so full I couldn't finish it, but I went for that dip. Our server cést comme ci comme ca this time. It like she was just there to get through the day that barely started. I was served a dirty water glass with a lipstick stain on it. My server rarely came by and I had to ask another server to help. Honestly I only tipped the girl server out of manners. I would not accept her as my server ever again.

I had my family join me for brunch, and unfortunately, it left us with questions. The biggest question was, "Where was the favor?" I knew I wouldn't like the chicory coffee, yet there was another option available that I enjoyed more that was a decaf. The child's plate was one of the worst kid's meal values I've seen in a while. It was $10 for one tender and a beignet. The tender was small and left my child wanting more, so I paid $7 for an extra tender. Please consider a plate that has two tenders and fruit or potatoes for older kids since this was sized for a toddler. The $10 Doggy Meal looked like it could have provided that option since it came with grilled chicken, sweet potato, and steamed rice. The adult plates had enough food for an actual meal, so we shared our plates with my child who only wanted more chicken and potatoes at that point. The Bayou BLT was okay, yet nothing to rave about. My husband wasn't impressed with the Blue Crab Omelette, and my aunt said her Catfish St. Charles was very bland. We all had an order of beignets that were tough and chewy. My husband and I have had freshly baked and powdered beignets at Cafe Du Moude, so these tiny versions were a tough sell. What did have flavor? The Bananas Foster pancakes, which was the better dessert option. While the restaurant itself was cute, expect table service to be long. We constantly waited for waitstaff to return to refill coffee, bring napkins, or furnish a needed utensil. Also, the parking will be tight. We were lucky to get spots adjacent to the restaurant rather than offsite, yet you will be watched like a hawk when you attempt to leave. People want those spots. If you want the feel of brunch with okay-ish food at expensive prices, come to NOLA the restaurant. If you're expecting to relive the actual taste of NOLA the city, start booking your next getaway for the real deal.

As part of our wedding package, they were incredibly generous and included two complimentary nights at the hotel and dinner at Dorrego's for us to celebrate. They are truly the absolute best at what they do and really know how to celebrate their guests! Returning to the very place where we said "I do" was already emotional enough, but Hotel Valencia somehow made the experience even more memorable than our first stay. From the moment we arrived, the staff was exactly as we remembered them: kind, attentive, professional, thoughtful, and genuinely wonderful. Our room was absolutely gorgeous, and when we walked in on our first day, we found the sweetest surprise waiting for us: a bottle of champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a congratulations message written in chocolate on the plate. I actually teared up a little! It was such a thoughtful and adorable gesture that truly made us feel seen, celebrated, and cared for. There is something so special about Hotel Valencia. The environment is exceptional, the service is always outstanding, and even their gorgeous signature scent instantly brings us back to memories of love, celebration, and adventure. Every little detail feels intentional and memorable. I am so incredibly thankful that we chose Hotel Valencia as the place to celebrate both our wedding and our first anniversary. It will forever hold such a special place in our hearts, and we cannot wait to return again and make even more memories there. The location is perfect step out the front door and you're right in downtown San Antonio. From the hotel restaurant, you can take the stairs or elevator directly down to the River Walk, which makes getting around so easy and convenient. What we especially loved is that this hotel has so much character and charm. It doesn't feel like one of those cookie-cutter chain hotels. We had a balcony, although it was simply too hot during our visit to sit outside and enjoy it. I'm sure it would be wonderful on a cooler evening! The bar and restaurant were both excellent, and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. A special shout-out to the valet guys they provided wonderful service and were always so helpful. Great location, beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and drinks, and exceptional service. We would definitely stay here again when we're back in San Antonio!
