So very sad about this experience because when Tlived in San Antonio it was my go to place. The chicken Caesar was not as good as it used to be. The bread and jam are different. The strawberries Romaniff off was watery and brown. They first have us rotten mushy strawberries. Then the Romanoff cream was runny and gross. I was so excited to eat there and my husband surprised me after we went to fiesta Texas, but it ended up being a let down. The restaurant is dirty. The bathrooms are dirty. I come to this location very often and never had issues. Today, I'm shocked at how unprofessional and unhelpful the manager and crew was. First, I order a coffee. Came to me so cold, asked if there were any microwaves, there were none. I had to pick another coffee and remake it myself. Since I never had issues here, i didn't thought much of it. I the received my order of sandwich, the sandwich looked like it had a bite, it was missing a significant part of the sandwich, I went to explain to the crew that my sandwich was off this time. They took the sandwich and told me that they were going to remake it. I waited and the crew came back to give me the order again. I received the same sandwich, but with a lo bit more chicken. These locations are always extremely busy when I've visited, usually on the weekends and this was no different, so it was a bit wall-to-wall people ... and that's obviously a good sign -- other people really like La Madeleine, too. But it can be dicy in the lobby area. It's a bit chaotic as people dining in pile up to await seating while people trying to order sweets to go also pile up. I've grown accustomed to and comfortable with the 6-foot COVID distancing, and this was not being observed. Yes, people were masked, customers and staff both. Ok on my two recent visits, both in the evening, I have disappointed. Employees working on Friday night appear to be unsupervised. Literally will ignore people until you speak up. One of them literally rolled his eyes. The chef kept going with a styrofoam cup to get soda and was drinking it behind the counter. Why if we ordered the same plate one of them had almost a whole filet of chicken and the other one less. Are you guys also snagging bites from our food? What really upset me is how they closed an entire section so we were only allowed acces to certain sections that had so many dirty tables. The hardest working person I saw was the poor bus boy who you can tell is really trying. He was very courteous. This location has the highest number of stars on Yelp and after dining there I can see why. First of all, the employees are really good at their job. They were all attentive, there was even a lady who was watching people in the dining room just so she could anticipate their needs. She saw me looking around and asked me if I needed anything. I saw her offer to take a tray to the table for an elderly man with a cane who was trying to fo it by himself. I came here on a weekday around 8:40pm. I got the Pesto Pasta and Potato Galette because I wasn't too hungry for a big meal. I love their pesto pasta, it is very flavorful and they give a generous portion. I also like the potato galette, but I wish they include some sauce with it as it was a little dry. I love that they still provide free bread, and homemade jam. We didn't know they close at 9pm, but they were still taking orders from customers and they let us finish our meal. I usually come for their desserts in the bakery area. I love their fruit tarts and coconut cream cake! They always sell out when I go later in the evening, so you know it's popular. read more

This place was not too busy when I came here, and it had plenty of seating available. I went in hoping to get a breakfast plate, but went with a crepe with chicken and veggies. The staff were ok in friendliness. One worker there didn't seem too friendly, but others did. First off, we love coming here for breakfast and lunch because the food is delicious and the service is usually good. However, we came in today (July 4th around 12:30) and had a horrible experience with the service. All the employees in the black shirts were friendly, but the mood was definitely a lot lower than usual. Then, we see why, a taller white lady in a red shirt (maybe a manager) started very loudly talking badly about other employees throughout the entire course of us eating there (about 30-45 minutes). We even witnessed her yell at one employee for simply being in her way. Customers and employees were all uncomfortable with how she was acting, especially since she was not even trying to hide her rudeness and was speaking and yelling loudly. I normally love La Madeleine but today was not a very good experience. We ordered our food at 12:25 they said they had run out of blocks to bring to our table but that the person would still be able to find us so we said okay and sat down. Finally 45 minutes later we received our food. I've never waited that long for food here before especially considering the type of restaurant it is. But still I understood they were busy so I didn't mind. Except EVERYTHING was cold by the time they finally found us. Apparently the woman had been walking around for 20 mins looking for us. Le Madeleine as a brand is consistently sold out of the thing that I like to eat they keep telling me it's gonna come in on one day and then it's available on another day but it's never there. The caramel apple tart is very good. I've been able to try it luckily one time, but it seems that it's consistently not available at any location in San Antonio. She also failed to say 'thank you" to the customer. After wifey and I finished eating, I brought it to the attention of Marcus, the manager. He apologized and said there was a way to redo the bill, but she didn't know how to do it. Marcus was able to correct the employee and the bill.
