Always looking out for good ice cream, we ended up finding this cute little spot in DT Novato. Immediately upon entering, the shop is filled with vibrant colors, exuding that very bubbly vibe of an ice cream shop. I was surprised at the variety of flavors from tequila to strawberry to guava. I decided to go with the pina colada and key lime sorbet. I was beyond satisfied with my choice. Both flavors were refreshing and full of flavor but not overly sweet. What I liked the most was the diversity in flavors, flavors you normally do not see at an ice scream spot. On top of the ice cream, the offered drinks and specials such as fruit bowls, etc. I highly recommend this place for anyone having a sweet craving. I will definitely be coming back to try their other flavors and desserts! read more

Man do they serve refreshing ice cream! Yes, refreshing is the adjective best describe their ice cream here. They offer many different flavors with what taste like real fruits, no imitations. It not really creamy but it has a soft like texture somewhat yogurt like. If you prefer creamy ice cream, go somewhere else. Just have to try it to taste the difference. Regardless of what John V. has claimed, they do not serve bits of plastic in their ice cream! He was also telling people in his review to get their ice cream at Baskin Robins instead and was angry with me when i message him on these pieces of plastic he claim was consistent and accuse me of being the owner of La Michoacana as i accuse him as one for Baskin Robins as the conversation got heated :( Anyways, his review is now in the not recommended area on Yelp because it's just wasn't true. So do i have any gripes here? ...not on the ice cream. It would be the scoop of ice cream they put in the cups is not consistent in the amount. I don't get the cones so not sure if it's the same also. The size of the scoop would either be on the small side or more than normal which i have determine from observation that it depend on who is serving the ice cream as oppose to the same server being inconsistent when scooping. Granted, this is probably true at other places too but it's very noticeable here. One time i drove by and left cause that person who gives the smaller scoops was working that day but forgot which one it was now since i haven't gone there in awhile and got the small scoop again just recently LOL. Also, the employees who worked there are not too attentive and seem to be in their own world which is fine with me as long as the scoop size is somewhat consistent which is not! Tons of unique flavors and really nice service. They sell drinks, frozen yogurt, sorbet, and popsicles. The shop inside is brightly lit and colorful. We got the peach frozen yogurt and lime sorbet double scoop for $5. I loved the texture of the frozen yogurt. It was super fluffy and light. The sorbet was tangy and icy. Everyone is all excited about the new ice cream place in town. It's just too bad the new ice cream place isn't more excited to serve customers. I visited there today and experienced service that was rude, bordering on hostile. The three young women behind the counter could not even be bothered to acknowledge me, even though I was standing there for quite some time, and in fact didn't ever do so until another customer arrived and asked if I was in line. At that point, I was given the once over, and someone who had arrived after me was helped. Rude. Totally unnecessary and unprovoked. Treatment of other customers did not appear to be substantially better. I would suggest that management host a training session on the basic principles of customer service. The ice cream was pretty good. I had the strawberries and cream, and it was pleasant, serviceable ice cream. One small scoop is $2.75. Honestly, though, it's not good enough ice cream to make up for a totally unpleasant environment. Let's just say that I don't think Tuttimelon has anything to worry about. I've heard good things about this ice cream place, which opened in downtown Novato this past week (they have another location in Sonoma). Mexican-style ice cream and sorbets are delicious, decor is stylish and modern, and it's clean and nice. Unusual flavors include tequila, spicy pineapple, and pine nut. I'm knocking off one star because of the teensy tiny portions of ice cream we received. When my son got his single scoop of ice cream I looked at the server and wanted to say "seriously... that's it?" but I didn't because she seemed a bit flustered. None of our other three scoops were any larger. I'm going to be nice and chalk it up to opening weekend jitters, because the staff, though friendly, seemed a little overwhelmed. Next time we'll skip the sugar cones, which seemed to be the source of the problems. Actually, try the paletas, which are a bargain at $2 a pop (no pun intended), and come in most of the ice cream and sorbet flavors. We'll definitely be back! read more

Ok. So the service was ....there...I the impression two girls were looking forward to being off work on a Saturday night and not answering questions...especially mine. The place was quiet. The inside is SUPER bright and cheery. I got three palates and a chocolate dipped frozen banana. Everything tasted greeted except the strawberry cream. There were LOTS of lovely bright red sliced berries but there were not ripe so I could not finish it. They should call them "date bars". I sure puckered up. read more

I discovered this place today by accident while walking around and boy am I glad I did. If you are looking for fresh, unique, local and absolutely delicious ice cream/sorbet this is the place. First I learned that all the ice creams etc are made in Sonoma, Go Local! You can choose between the bars (regular or chocolate covered), ice cream (cone, cup, or chocolate waffle cone) or sorbet and they have loads of options for each. Some flavors are really unique for the more adventurous foodies. They even have refreshing drinks (aqua frescas) that looked great with fruit etc. I will have to try those next time. This time around I got the strawberry sorbet and it was like heaven. It was cold, freshly made and tasted like the ripest strawberries you have ever eaten (small, $2.75). It was a recommendation by the girl working at the counter and I am glad I listened. It wasn't busy really so the service was quick and the lady helped me narrow down my choice and was very friendly. There was a huge selection of fresh fruity flavors to choose from, as well as some dessert variations and some Mexican classics like chongos (custard) , guava sorbet and sour sop. They even had an elote flavor which I didn't get to try but it looked tempting. I ordered a single scoop of the classic strawberry and another scoop of the Oreo/cookies and cream. Both flavors lived up to my expectations; the Oreo was a perfect merriment of both sweet and creamy textures and flavors. The strawberry flavor tasted very fresh and was very smooth with little strawberry chunks that only enhanced the flavor of this delicious treat. I would definitely come again, the staff were very patient as we had a larger group and they were more than happy to assist us and offer us samples to try any flavors that peaked our interest. Lived in Novato for almost a year & never got around to trying this place. I'm glad I finally did. The standard flavors are better than the generic ice cream shops and the unique flavors (some of which I'd never heard of) are what sets it apart. Tried the gunabana & nance paletas & loved both. Not particularly sweet, but very interesting flavor and very refreshing. I look forward to going back and trying all the other flavors. NOTE - Saw a big line at Baskin Robins on the same day! The ice cream and other treats here are good, better than average. But, the 2 stars are for the service. It is hard to enjoy the ice cream when the service is so bad. We've gone twice, and both times the girls behind the counter were disorganized and almost rude. The last visit I checked the receipt and we were mischarged twice, once for an item we didn't even get, and once overcharged for an item. When I went back to the register and pointed it out, the girl basically threw the money back at me and gave me a look to kill. This place is very clean and big. They have a lot of different yummy flavors and also some non ice cream stuff. The only thing I really don't like is the teenage girls who seem to know nothing about customer service. Some days they have a good attitude and other times they suck. But whatever I guess I'll deal with the poopy service since they have bomb ice cream. Hopefully they get better...... read more
