Stop it. This place is delicious. In Atascadero the Mexican food restaurant market is pretty saturated, but we come here time and time again. Counter service. Melt in your mouth chips. Awesome bevies. Please note there are a lot of TVs running any type of programming. I find them distracting, but if I pick the right seat, I won't be drawn in so easily. It's not a cozy restaurant with booths and low lighting-- it's more cafeteria style, but gracious the food is amazing. read more

One of our favorite places in town. I get the barbacoa tacos. Something I wouldn't have typically ordered but I saw a picture on here and thought hey that looks good. Now I crave them! Okay so I've been wanting to go here for a long time, and for some reason just never made it. I finally had been getting a lot of people telling me how good it is. So I finally did and boy, I'm actually upset I didn't go sooner! I've been missing out. We split the nachos (which may not look pretty, but they tasted delicious) and the super burrito which had fajita peppers in it and I just love that added touch. It's above and beyond the typical burrito you would get at any other restaurant. They also have a great selection of salsas which is one of my favorite things at any Mexican restaurant. First time trying any Mexican restaurant in Atascadero but glad I chose this spot because it was overall a good experience. Prices are really affordable for what you get. I ordered the menudo and it was spot on. They have a really good variety of salsas that were not only fresh but also spicy enough for my liking. Also the serve yourself chip idea is genius they automatically win at that! Husband ordered a michelada and really enjoyed it (and it was huge).. Chose this place based on the Yelp reviews. Checked out the website and the menu looked intriguing. Wanted a place to have a nice dinner before a play. Based on the website and pricing we thought it was a sit down restaurant. We were surprised when we got there and it was an 'order at the counter' , deli type of place. We ordered the whole fried fish and a combination plate. The fried fish was pretty dry ( $21) The combo plate was OK ($17). The chile rellano and sope were adequate, but the sides (beans and rice) weren't particularly tasty or seasoned. Our friends both opted for a bowl and were disappointed. It was pretty 'watery'. The people working there were very friendly and helpful. While we were there it became quite busy, so others seem to enjoy it. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. read more

I was out in this area today as I was a bit hungry. I decided to check this place out and it was good. There was no indoor seating due to COVID, but there were outdoor seating. This place is a walk up and you order your food and then eat outside or to go. I ordered the flour quesadilla with chips, a drink and churros. There is a soda machine next to the counter as you fill up your drink and it had refills. The quesadilla was so amazing as once you take a bite out of it, you can taste the cheese from the quesadilla. After I ate that, I had some chips and I enjoyed the flavors of the salt from the chips. After that and going to the soda machine and refilling my drink, I had the churros. The churros were so amazing that the flavor was sweet and I enjoyed the icing sauce. I felt happy eating at this place. They also have a few TV's as well inside. This place is right next door to Vons. There is also a Rite Aid, 99 cents store, Panda Express, a sandwich shop, Starbucks, and also a Carl's Jr. This is also next to the 101 freeway. If I would recommend to this to everyone because I would say that this is some good Mexican food in Atascadero for those who want to get some mexican food on the go. 1/13/2019 I can see why this place is popular, the food is fresh and great, the service is friendly and awesome and fun ambience. You order yourself at the order counter , they give you a little paper bowl where you can help yourself with chips. Nice selection of salsa at the salsa bar. The spicy one was really tasty with a kick to it. There's like 6 or 7 different kind of salsas. They all looked fresh and filled to the top. The salsa bar area was also kept clean. Shrimp burrito was huge!!!! Tightly wrapped in an aluminum foil. I took a bite and the first thought was Wow!!! Shrimp tasted really fresh!!! I love food joints that use fresh ingredients. The young man who took our orders was very friendly , at the same time very efficient. Knowledgeable about the menu and quick. Very impressed. Will stop again next time in Atascadero. read more

We had high hopes based on others reviews...we each ordered an individual tostada. One carnitas & one chicken. Sadly they were so greasy it looked as if they had dredged the tortillas in oil? Poured grease on the carnitas and chicken. Slathered on some refried beans. Threw it all in a styrofoam container... A sprinkle of iceberg lettuce out of bag & token amount of guacamole. Yuck! Came here with my co workers after work to try out some Mexican food. I already knew off top it's not gonna be anything like San Diego's Mexican food but it wasn't bad. I ordered a combination plate. 3 tacos ( 2 tripas, 1 carnita ) they were actually decent. I wasn't feeling the rice and beans tho, they were too dry. My sour cream and guacamole came smothered in lettuce. Not a fan of it but it wasn't bad. They also have a salsa bar with complimentary chips. Super cool, not many places have that. Just like any other "New Restaurant" they started out serving up healthy portions of food, but now that they have a steady clientele and people are aware of them the portions are dwindling into smaller bites. I recently ordered a Carnitas burrito, only to be met with a bean & rice burrito with tiny bits of carnitas meat sprinkled throughout. Do you remember the days of ordering a fat juicy crispy carnitas burrito with all the flavourful additions inside? Well, sorry...not here! So I was in Love with this place when it first opened but the last couple of times I've eaten there...today and about a month ago, my food has been really hard? My order was very old and cold not even warm and my chili relleño was still crunchy.
