Came here during crazy corona virus time. Husband and I were craving a burrito. Decided to give this place a try. I ordered a carne asada burrito. The meat was seasoned perfectly and was tender. Inside there was also rice and beans. Defiantly tasted authentic. My husband ordered the king burrito which had carne asada, big pieces of shrimp, rice, beans, and the whole works of salsa fresca, regular salsa, guacamole, cheese, and sour cream. Depending on how hungry you are, you could probably share a burrito because they are pretty big, especially the King burrito. Thick excellent quality burritos! We also ordered a large horchata. The best horchata we have ever had. Perfect amount of sweetness and lots of brown sugary cinnamon flavor. What makes this place stand out even more for me is that they make their own tortillas! I bought a pack of flour tortillas. They're thin, which I don't mind. They're soft and buttery. Taste a hundred times better than the basic Mission brand tortillas you can find at any grocery store. They are so big for not a lot of money and the service is good, when it's busy there is some wait but it's made up by the fact that the workers are so kind and are really fast. There is also a bakery with scrumptious bread like bolillo and conchas that are freshly made and hit the spot every time. The ambiance is very comfortable and welcoming. 1st time here, visiting the area but wanted Mexican food. Now the food was delicious. My kids, wife and myself each got different plates and everything was delicious without a doubt, that I can recommend 100%. UNFORTUNATELY the customer service was HORRIBLE and RUDE. We were ignored for about 5 minutes while standing in the order line, not even a good morning or be with you in a minute. Employee's were cleaning tables and coffee area. They have countless options but my favorite were the birria tacos and the asada. During my second visit I tried the birria burrito and HOLY MOLY it rocked my world. Then you pay for them and proceed to the salsa bar and fill those bad boys up with a few types of salsas or hot sauces, a bomb guacamole sauce and cilantro y onions!! Do not order delivery from this place. It's such a headache we were missing a burrito and an order of green chicken enchiladas was sent instead of the mole enchiladas I ordered. Called back and the girl who answered tried to say it was my fault because I put in to add green salsa on the side and that's why I got chicken enchiladas instead of mole. Just dumb never said sorry for forgetting a whole burrito in the order just said well you can come pick it up.. Awesome just what I want to do because of your mistake. Honestly, my FAVORITE taco place by far. The food here is so authentic. When I first got to California, someone invited me to go eat tacos and they took me to an Alberto's. Nothing's against Alberto's but that's not real Mexican food. La Perla definitely is real Mexican food. I've been coming here for a while now. It's almost shameful how often I eat here. They also have a bakery and I love sweet Spanish bread with my coffee (café con pan)! They also just opened up a smoothie bar and they make snacks like veggies with chile and chile powder, who doesn't like that? The staff is SUPER friendly and yes, they speak English as well for anyone who wants REAL tacos but is too scared they won't know how to order what they want. The inside is clean, they have tables and booths. On Tuesday's they obviously have Taco Tuesday, so swing by and get yourself some of the best tacos you'll ever have. Definitely the best tacos you'll get close to street tacos in oceanside! It's a little pricey $2-$3 I think per taco but worth every bite. I love that they have variety of meats for the tacos and the put the guacamole sauce which is a must. It's a market so you can also get Mexican desserts to take home. read more
