But that place is HELLA DIRTY, with gristle and nastiness, so I go elsewhere to places in San Mateo ( work) and Alameda ( live) I patiently drove south on El Camino looking for some place new, and quickly pulled, not even noticing this place before. I walked in, was the only white person among diners ( 30 others) which typically is a good sign. My expectiations for a bowl of Vietnamese Rice Noodles with meat on top are not HIGH. I simply want the added shrimp to NEVER be breaded, That's gross. They got that down here. I want my chicken , pork, or beef, NOT be a bunch of fat on top of noodles.... it's disgusting, and a consistent feature at numerous other Vietnamese spots. Who do you think you're fooling? I liked our late night meal here. I ordered light - shrimp spring rolls minus bean sprouts. It was nicely plated and was quite tasty. Bestie ordered beef pho and I tried a little of the soup. It was quite decent - it wasn't too salty and I liked that they had a little bit more of the star anise in their soup than other places. Service was super fast so no complaints there. The food was fine. I didn't think it's any better than a typical Vietnamese restaurant. What I had an issue with was when we went around 3pm, they told us to hurry up with ordering because they are going to take their lunch break. While I understand they need a lunch break, why is the restaurant open if they don't want to serve customers during their break? They should close for their break instead of seating us, rushing us and deserting us so they can take their break. I also found some bugs on a lettuce leaf and they didn't seem to care when I told them. They did bring me a few more leaves but there was no apology. La Petit is another decent viet restaurant. They have their own private lot. The decor is better than your average pho restaurant with glass table tops and table cloth. They serve more traditional and authentic viet food than your typical pho place. I wouldn't recommend getting their pho or bun bo hue. There's plenty of better restaurants to get those. They do have the hot and sour catfish soup which isn't commonly served. I thought it was alright, but definitely doesn't beat something that was homemade. I always order their bun rieu. I thought it had a lot of flavor. One of the best I've had so far. I've also had their combo plates which has a lot of food for the price you pay. It includes BBQ meat with imperial rolls and comes with veggies, rice and a small bowl of their hot and sour catfish soup. Service was average for a vietnamese place. I came here for lunch after my arrival at San Francisco airport. I had the garlic chicken rice plate. Before the main dish came out, I was served a seafood vegetable sour soup. The soup itself was good. But I am not used to this type of pairing. The usual soup that came with every Vietnamese rice plate I had before is pork broth. The chicken was flavorful and moist. Well cooked. The nuoc mam (dipping sauce) is not watered down as at other restaurants. Service is fast & efficient. The table where I sat looked directly into the bathroom of the restaurant. Not good. I urge the management of this restaurant to install a half door, or a screen or something, to correct this situation. There is a set of saloon doors at the walkway to the kitchen. I was with my girlfriend and we were in a rush to get to a friend's house on new year's eve. We were 15 minutes away from the restaurant and asked if we could order on the phone so they could have the food ready for us by the time we got there, because we didn't want to eat take-out pho. (Who does, right?) As soon as we got there, they asked us our name, and promptly sat us down and brought out the food they kept heated for us! The table even already had the condiments (bean sprouts and basil leaves) on it. The staff was very forgiving for our rush and handled it professionally. We paid promptly as well. The pho was great too. (I don't say this lightly, I'm a pho fanatic, but this review's already so long) The soup is perfect, the noodles are well done, the meat is delicious, and the atmosphere is very homely and cozy. read more

For a Vietnamese restaurant trying to add a French twist, not bad in price. My Daughter wanted pho so I Yelped the nearest and got to this place. This place is nor big on pho so there aren't a lot of varieties.. I ordered the beef balls and I gave her pretty much 90% of it. I also ordered imperial eggrolls.. the presentation was nice.. came w/ vermicelli noodles, lettuce, cilantro, and spicy fish sauce.. they are mini eggrolls though. Service was friendly and rather quick. If you want to try a variety of Vietnamese dishes, perhaps this place could be it.. +/- THE FOOD Picture this: it's a cold, gloomy Sunday afternoon in the Bay. You are soaked form the sideways rain, and your hair is crazy from the strong winds. All you want is a large, hot bowl of noodle soup. Enter La Petite Camille. You hope that your craving is satisfied....and it's not... really. We ordered a special combo pho and a bun rieu. Both dishes came out rather quickly but it wasn't very hot. The pho broth was pretty bland and watered down. The bun rieu broth was extremely tomato-y, lacking in any seafood taste. The crab paste and shrimp was very tasty however, but I wish that reflected in their soup as well. Both bowls of noodle soups came in large bowls, but there wasn't a lot of noodles/meat in them. Overall, I wish everything was more flavorful and there was a better ratio of noodles/meat to soup. - THE PRICES A bit steeper pricing for the food here. It was about $9 for each bowl, which is pretty high for the kind of food we're ordering. I noticed that banh mi's were $7 each, which is way more than what I would normally pay for. read more

The Fairfield desk staff recommended I check out LPC rather than returning to another popular Vietnamese restaurant across the street because it was better. Better than the place I already liked? Sign me up! I walked from the hotel (and was only a teeny bit nervous on my walk back in the dark), but noticed this restaurant has a private parking lot (vs street at the place across the road). It was also more of an older, family kind of crowd (vs the hipper crowd at BT). They were packed when I was there, a Thursday night around 8pm, but I was seated immediately and treated well. I ordered the Young Coconut drink, thinking it would be similar to the Fresh Coconut Water I had at another Vietnamese place in Florida BUT this was such fun! A whole young coconut came out with the top cracked off like a hinge and a straw and spoon inside. Yummy! I didn't see anyone else drinking this so maybe it's a tourist-y gimmick? In any case, I didn't care because I loved it. Their Shrimp Roll appetizer had way, way too much lettuce in it. Even after removing the lettuce, I didn't taste much of anything. By far the worst Vietnamese food I have had. If you are looking for a greasy spoon and a heart attack, you might just enjoy this place. Service is decent if you're looking for someone who will bring your food to the table. Other than that, nothing out of the ordinary. The five spice chicken was dipped in oil and you can still taste the grease all over your mouth after downing 3 cups of hot tea. I was not a fan of their crepe. There was no flavor to the batter and the amount of meat was minimal. The garlic noodle was recommended by a friend but after trying it, I realized why this place had such poor reviews. The noodles were also overly greasy and the shrimp tasted old. My only reason for giving it a two star instead of a one star is because the crispy fish fillet was not as horrendous as the rest of the meal. We went here for a family dinner and the parents said it is so hard to find a place to eat on a Friday night with no wait. I responded with, "There is a reason why no one is here... Tasty food, I love the pork chops and rice dish, but everything I've had here is good. They usually have our order ready in 20 minutes and packaged well. I've never eaten inside. They wear masks and distance during Covid, even had their doors open on a windy day to be the most careful. The combination lunch meals include a sour and spicy soup (with tomato, pineapples, and bean sprouts in a broth), fried vegetable spring rolls (which are especially crispy and delicious), rice, and your choice of BBQ pork, five spice chicken (another favorite), or fried shrimp. Most of the lunch meals cost less than $9, so I'd say it's a pretty darn good deal! But my favorite part of this restaurant is the owner. This man is so friendly and so kind. He recognizes me and my family, and he is always sure to strike a conversation with us. The same goes for everybody that comes through here, since he tries to be personal with the diners. It's hard to find that sincere, personal touch between management and customer, but La Petite Camille hasn't lost it. Downsides? Probably the other staff. Not all of them... Just a few. Some of the waiters can be a little crass and impatient. I've caught one waiter use his/her thumb to make sure the pitcher was filled with water while he/she was looking elsewhere. Gross and unsanitary. Another downside would probably be the pho. It's not bad, don't get me wrong. It's just that there are other, more delicious places to get pho. Lastly, cleanliness is a bit of an issue. While they have made improvements on restroom cleanliness and aesthetics, the rest of the restaurant looks a little messy, cluttered, and dusty. If I had come here for the first time, I'd probably give this place a 3.5. My boyfriend brought me here for the first time yesterday for lunch and this place was packed! He said this was his moms favorite Vietnamese restaurant and that they are known for their escargots. The service was amazing, very attentive. We both got bun, cold vermicelli. My boyfriend had the sautéed beef and I had bbq beef and shrimp. Their portions were very generous and their food presentation is really nice. My only complaint was they my bbq beef was a little dry and had that very Metallic-y look to it like you see sometimes on roast beef. This spot right here is a 5 star in my book every time! I didn't know too much about this place till a month or 2 ago and ever since I am here once a week. The proteins and fresh they give you nice size portions and clean cuts. The noodles and perfect, the sauces are on point. If you want spice they got it for you! I just flew in from Dalat yesterday and this place was between my hotel and BART, so I walked back for dinner, WOW! I loved their food, only downside was the HUGE portion sizes. We come here all the time because this restaurant doesn't fail. My husband started coming here 25 years ago and he said the food has been consistently delicious. Good food, reasonably priced esp during lunch. We always get the grilled BBQ pork with rice set meal, the shrimp and BBQ pork with vermicelli noodles and spring rolls- fresh and fried. The best for me is the Canh chui soup. I ask to add vermicelli noodles and it can be a meal on its own. It is sooo flavorful, not just your regular Pho soup. It is always full of non- Caucasian customers ( a good sign) We know if the Asian restaurants is authentic if the customers are their own nationals. It's a good indication that the food is delicious. This was my first trying this place out, yet was very disappointed with my order. I got the five spice chicken sandwich and the papaya salad..but the sandwich has no sauce leaving it so dry nor was it cut in half. The salad was so-so but the dressing leaked all over the bag. I'm very picky about my pho broth and can tell when restaurants use instant or fillers for their broth vs actually boiling down beef bones for broth. One easy and for sure way to tell if a restaurant is using enough beef bones in their broth is when you take home the leftover broth and put it in the fridge, the leftover broth will congeal like gelatin. La Petit Camille is the only Vietnamese restaurant in the peninsula who's pho broth has congealed so far - neither Ben tre's or Mama's pho broth have passed my gelatin test. I was craving pho and so my friends brought me here. They have a mini parking lot and street parking. It was lunch hour on a three-day weekend, so it wasn't busy at all. We started off with some fresh spring rolls. Not bad, they were wrapped nicely and tight, the food inside doesn't fall out with just one bite. Almost all of us ordered Bun Bo Hue except one; he ordered this combo rice plate thing that came with soup, rice, salad, spring rolls, and meat. Looks way better than our Bun Bo Hue! First of all, the color of the soup was off. Tasted it, too bland. It wasn't spicy nor rich in flavor as it was supposed to be. The noodles was alright but the portion was too small, I felt ripped off. The meat...there were only the cha lua (the beige sausage slices) and slices of overcooked flank (I think). The last time I had a real Bun Bo Hue, it had more ingredients than that! Onto the service. As I was saying, it wasn't even busy. One of the guys had time to eat a popsicle while serving food or preparing the table settings. For some reason, he doesn't like to clear our tables when we have a stash of dishes needed to be taken away. He would bring us our food, and ignore the dish stack. There was barely space left after our entrees came, really now? Not only that, we waited very long for our noodles. Generally at other pho places, I get my pho within 5 minutes. I waited like 10-15 minutes here. And for our friend with the combo plate: they brought out the soup but totally forgot about the rice plate. He waited even longer. The place was not too tidy either.
