Years ago, back when one of our family friends put Le Petite Camille on my radar for the very first time, I remember hearing pretty good things about this place. Nothing to the level that would suggest the food was amazing, but certainly that it was pretty good. In the years since, though? I haven't heard much of anything, other than those same relatives mentioning that the food here isn't as impressive as it used to be. Which, oddly, isn't the worst thing because now that I've been here myself, I might have started to question their tastebuds! Even though my go-to spot for pho in Millbrae, Ben Tre, is right across the street, we opted to come here instead both of curiosity and sheer convenience (love that they have their own parking lot). Inside, the restaurant is surprisingly big and even have a couple of long tables for larger groups. As for the menu, it's family-style, with a lot of dishes to be shared, but it didn't see as extensive as I would've guessed. That said, it could be just because they only have a few types of pho to choose from, as it actually has a wide variety of offerings - appetizers, spring rolls, salads, wraps, banh mi, soups/noodle soups, vermicelli bowls, rice plates, stir fried noodles, and a bunch of claypots, entrees, and vegetarian dishes. -- (#1) IMPERIAL ROLLS (Cha Gio) - Deep Fried Rolls with Minced Pork, Carrots, Taro, and Onion...$11 This looked fantastic on the plate, but the imperial rolls were a little uneven. On the plus side, the overall dish is generous in size and the filling was decently flavorful. However, the rolls were barely crisp, let alone crispy, and were actually quite oily. -- (#5) MINCED SHRIMP ON SUGARCANE (Banh Hoi Chao Tom) Served with Lettuce, Vermicelli Noodles, Pickles, Cilantro, and Peanut Sauce or Fish Sauce...$18 To be fair, I've probably been spoiled by the one that my friend's mom makes, but this fell short for me. While I appreciated all of the sides to make lettuce wraps, the shrimp itself was underwhelming - not all that hot, not much char/crispiness to it, and not all that flavorful. -- (#24-C) SPECIAL COMBINATION BEEF NOODLE SOUP (Pho Xe Lua) with Beef Slices, Beef Balls, Tendon, and Tripe...$17 Not bad, but hardly special. I liked that the noodles had a nice bite and that the noodle-to-meat ratio favored the latter. However, despite how it had a decent body to it, the broth didn't have as strong of a beefy flavor as I would've liked. -- (#73) SPECIAL COMBINATION CLAYPOT (Com Tay Cam) - Stir-fried Green Onions, Ginger, Shrimp, Chicken, and Chinese Sausage with Special House Sauce on Jasmine Rice...$16 I was pretty excited for this one, but it was a disappointment. Mainly, it's not a true claypot - it's closer to a rice bowl, as the rice wasn't infused with flavors nor did it develop a crust. The portion also felt a bit light, particularly on chicken, but it did have a lot of sausage. With regards to service, a few of my fellow Yelpers have mentioned that it can move a little slow, but I can't say we ran into the same problem. Almost as soon as we walked in, a worker greeted us, walked us to our table, and then came back about five minutes later to take our order. In fact, we actually had the opposite problem, as our dishes came out suspiciously fast. It makes perfect sense that our pho came out so quickly, but there's no way our claypot would've arrived right after that if they had cooked everything together. However, it would if they just scooped in pre-cooked white rice into a heated claypot and then topped it off. Given how the majority of what they have to offer are family-style dishes, it's entirely possible, if not likely, that we just didn't order the best that Le Petite Camile is known for. In time, perhaps I'll end up coming back again to find out but until then, I can't say anything that I've tried thus far sparks an overwhelming desire to do so.
Always love coming here. Mom and pop shops are my absolute favorite! They are sweet and diligent. Service is kind and clean. The food always hits home and the imperial rolls are definitely like home. Crunchy and flavorful. Wrap them the traditional way with the lettuce and noodles and its delicious got the pho today but always love the Bo Kho and Bun bo hue!
We had originally intended to eat at a different restaurant nearby, however the many diners both exiting & entering Le Petite Camille lured us to see what the fuss was about. We started with a Combination Appetizer which, among other things, included minced shrimp on sugarcane, but I was only after the imperial rolls. Tasty pork filling in a sufficiently-bubbly wrapping. The soup in my Pho Ga had as much flavor as you'd expect from a clear broth. It had a hint of garlic & onion, I added an obscene amount of lime & sriracha to enhance the taste. A solid bowl with white chicken breast & slightly al dente noodles but the pho restaurants I frequent have more complexity to its broth. La Petite Camille is a small, bustling spot with staff who get parties in & out. Their regulars will be pleased to know I won't be taking up one of their tables in the future.
Parking? Easy. Seated and served right away--zero stress. Ordered the Special Pho and Pho Tai for my husband. Generous portions and a perfectly balanced broth--clean, savory, with a touch of sweetness. Comfort food, done right. Ambiance: You know you're in the right spot when the Vietnamese community is dining in too. That's the real stamp of approval.
This restaurant has sadly gone downhill. The food is mediocre at best. My chicken pho broth lacked any real flavor, and the chicken was pretty tough. The stir fry vegetables were standard. Meanwhile, prices are above average and definitely more than I would pay for what I'm getting. To top it off, our server was sullen and bordered on rude. The setting is old and dingy. There are plenty of other far better Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Go there instead.
Haven't been to La Petite Camille in a while. Every time we used to come, it was always crowded. Was close by and wanted my friend to try good authentic Vietnamese food. We ordered: Combination Appetizer to share. Yummy. Authentic .. had to learn to roll fast otherwise the rolls would still be stuck on the plate. We also each ordered:marinated pork clay pot, Vietnamese Bbq pork and beef noodle soup. It turned out to be a lot of food. All was yummy. Would definitely come back again.
The BBW beef banh mi was disappointing. The bread was dried out and the beef was tough and crewy. The shredded pickled daikon didn't provide the typical crunch needed in a typical banh mi sandwich. (They should have been julienned for better texture.)
Ambiance: 0/5 Not clean, not friendly. Table not wiped between guests. Water glass with lipstick on it. Food: 2/5 Vegetarian broth is literally hot water. Zero flavor. Basil for soup was not fresh, slimy. Vegetarian imperial rolls were good. No mint, only cilantro. Service: 1/5: quick but not friendly. I tried to get her attention and when we made eye contact she yelled, "what?" Across the room. I just needed some more napkins after using one to clean my cup.
Came here on a Wednesday at about 6:30pm for dinner with some Friends. Place was rather empty with only two other tables, but it was still early. By 7pm, the place was almost full. Eating area was clean and tidy. There are only two restrooms but they were clean. Service was quick, servers were helpful and friendly. This was our first time there and we had plenty of questions. Food was on par with other Vietnamese restaurants we've tried. Everything was fresh and delicious. The fish sauce was tasty with the right amount of sweetness and tartness. The crepe was nice and crunchy, and it was filled with veggies. Loved it. Do recommend and will be back.

My family has been coming here for years. It is always a solid choice but lately, i would say it is going downhill. The menu has changed a little bit over the years but I think their banh xeo is great. I also like their vermicelli noodles. I also think they offer dishes that other places usually don't have. Their beef stew was something I really enjoyed but this most recent visit, it was not good. The portion was small and it lacked a lot of flavor. Also, their hot/sour soup is not as good as Ben Tre's so I would avoid these two items. I would say there's some solid choices here and they will always be in the rotation for my family. read more

My family and I have been loyal customers to this restaurant since 2002, but that loyalty ends today. After a long and exhausting day of work, I was expecting to get the usual 5-star meal experience that me and my family have consistently received for the past two decades. Even though the staff welcomed me when I arrived and efficiently took my order, the quality of their service quickly deteriorated when my order was complete. As I was paying for my order, I casually asked for a receipt listing all of the items for my big order. Instead of handing me my itemized receipt, the waiter yelled "Here!" and rudely thrusted a ticket stub towards my face, as if I was at the dry cleaners (image attached below). I tried to clarify that I wanted to see the itemized breakdown of my order, but the waiter insisted, without trying to understand my request, "You paid cash!!" I tried to clarify my request again, saying, "I know I paid in cash! You don't have to tell me twice. I just want to know the price of the items I paid for." Sensing that our conversation was going nowhere, I decided to grab a menu on my way out to see the prices. The waiter noticed, and shouted, "The price isn't the same. The price may be a dollar or two more than on the menu." Disappointed with his hostile tone, I said, "You're not very nice, my friend." and walked myself out of this establishment. Sorry, no takeout order from this place. This was the first and also last time I ordered from here. Very disappointed about the food quality. Went to Milbrae today around noon, decided to do a Vietnamese food takeout order due to time constraint. You can't really mess up with Vietnamese food because the food preparation is relatively easier (except the pho soup base) and faster comparing to other cuisine and food is yummy. So did a quick search around the area and decided to do a takeout today at La Petite Camille since I never try it before. I was wrong and made a bad decision, probably it was a takeout order. The shrimp spring rolls were not wrapped properly, both ends were widely open and one of the rolls is completely broken. I never see a spring roll in my life in such disastrous condition. The rice vermicelli noodles in the grilled BBQ pork TN Cha Gio were all short pieces, it was extremely hard to eat with chopsticks, you basically have to eat it with a freaking spoon. Can you believe that you have to eat noodles with a spoon?! Probably the food quality when you sit in is good, but definitely not for takeout - since you won't see the actual items until you open the takeout boxes. read more

Very quick service and decent quality food. I also enjoyed their fresh spring rolls. I just wish the broth was more flavorful. Besides that, this is a great spot for a quick bite with many options to choose from the menu, even if you're not craving pho and want something else! read more
FUXS GIVEN = 3.3 ******************* Food = 4 My go to Saigon pork chop was perfectly cooked and tasty. I also got the beef stew with French bread. Smaller portion than expected but I was glad it was since I ordered two meals. UX = 2 Basic, standard Vietnamese restaurant, simple and efficient. Been going here for years. Never disappoints. Until this trip, never tried the garlic noodles. RIDICULOUSLY GOOD. I've tried them everywhere, even the place that's known to have started the garlic noodle craze. These are even better than theirs! Food came out just minutes after ordering. We only had time to drink one serving of our hot tea. There weren't many people, as we were there during the last hour of service, but was still pretty fast. Staff is always friendly & attentive. BBQ chicken is usually my go-to, but these noodles may have just changed the game. I was told by my girlfriend that the crab & shrimp noodle soup was very good as well, but I didn't even bother to try it, as I was so focused on my own plate. read more
This place is like visiting your extended family's house: comfortable & relaxed environment, delicious, homemade tasting food and somewhat dated decor. While there are lots of yummy options, we often order the appetizers: Banh Xeo (Crispy Crepe) is a must! Mung beans are used for this fluffy, crispy dish. It typically comes with chicken and shrimp (we get shrimp only) and with the combo of fish sauce on top, its savory sweetness is a perfect balance! The Minced Sugarcane Shrimp is also a treat. The shrimp is seasoned well and wrapped around a grilled sugarcane stick. After eating the shrimp, take a bite of the sugar cane for a blast of sweetness. The Banh Khot (Shrimp Cupcakes) are another good dish made from mung beans. Prepared a bit differently than the crepe (baked instead of fried we think), this cupcake is more savory than sweet, and a little heavier than the crepe. Good but not as delicious as the Banh Xeo. Recommended spot for lunch for those who want to get good, no-fuss Vietnamese food. read more

One of the best tasting broths. I could tell it was going to be good before I tried the soup. Chicken is soft and good amount of noodle. The 5 spice chicken sandwich was big and the bread was very good. Would have like my bread a bit toasted but I was satisfied. read more

This is a must try place. Food is Excellent. They have dungeness crab fresh rools and dyi bbq chicken with rice paper wraps. Also fresh young coconut. Everyrhing was DELICIOUS. All very clean. Owners are super nice. Well worth our drive from walnut creek. read more
When I crave for Vietnamese food, this is my go-to spot. The #3 appetizer banh xheo (Vietnamese crepe) is my favorite and the imperial rolls are spot on as well. If you love vermicelli bowls, the five spice chicken and/or bbq pork & imperial rolls combo won't disappoint too. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with how flavorful the food was! I ordered delivery through GrubHub. I got the vegetarian pan fried noodles and the tofu with green beans. Both dishes were really flavorful! I'm happy that La Petite has several vegetarian options. The tofu was so crispy and delicious! The noodles had a good variety of different vegetables, and was very flavorful (maybe because it had a lot of fish sauce, Idk). I always pass by this restaurant but have not tried it until now. Will definitely order from here again! read more

Stopped by for takeout last night - got the bun bo hue, imperial rolls and five spice chicken. The imperial rolls were really good (flavorful and nicely fried, not too oily and came with fresh lettuce, etc.) and the five spice chicken was HUGE and juicy (for only $10 too). The bun bo hue was very satisfying as well - I wish the broth had a bit more complexity, especially more lemongrass, but I was still happy with it. Probably would have given it 5 stars if the bun bo hue was even better. The prices are pretty reasonable for the portion sizes - we could barely make much progress on the chicken after eating the rolls and the bun bo hue (and my husband eats a lot), so looking forward to eating the chicken for lunch today. Food was ready pretty fast - 12-13 mins after calling. Really liked everything, would definitely come back again. Nice COVID pick-up situation. Table right at the door so you dont have to go inside, accepted apple pay so minimal touching and they had hand sanitizer for us. read more

Met up with a friend here for dinner on a Tuesday night at 6:30 and it was (surprisingly) pretty crowded! Had to wait a hot second for a table to clear up and be cleaned. To start, we shared the #1 imperial rolls ($9), which are deep fried rolls stuffed with minced pork, carrots, taro, and onions. They came with lettuce wraps and some vermicelli that I think you're supposed to wrap them in, but we ate the rolls by themselves. They were fried perfectly and not as pepper-y as the rolls I've had at other places, which I really appreciated. I chose #33 bo luc lac ($13), tender beef cubes stir fried with garlic, for my entree. My friend, who frequents this spot a lot more than I do, told me they're pretty hit or miss depending on the chef, but I think I got lucky as my dish was delicious! The beef was super tender and flavorful, but the portion was pretty big and I had a hard time finishing the dish. It comes with rice but I also ate it with the vermicelli that came with the rolls and that also complemented it well. I would definitely recommend taking a chance and ordering this dish :) The service was your standard Asian service, where you have to flag down someone anytime you want something. The food came out pretty quickly. There's a small private parking lot here, which is really nice as parking along El Camino itself isn't always the easiest. read more

Ordered the Bu Luc Lac, each berf cube is about 1x1inch and the quantity is very pathetic, average $1.25 per piece. The sauce outside has decent flavor but once you bite into the beef it is flavorless. Not worth the money at all. read more

Went here for Valentines Day. Having their own parking lot is a plus. We were surprised that it wasn't that busy. Staff was friendly and sat us right away. We ordered a bunch of food. The kids was hungry. The food came fast and fresh. The portion was ok. All the food that we ordered was delicious. Specially the ground chicken. The bbq chicken was also delicious. The chicken noodle soup was ok. The imperial roll was delicious also. We would definitely come back. read more
After driving to our favorite pho spot and finding out it was closed, we took to Yelp to help us find a close pho spot that can help with our cold weather, cozy feet curling, big bowl craving. We came across this place. After walking in you are immediately in the dining area, tables along side the walls and in the center. The place was rather quite and picked up around the time we left,6:30pm. We got here at a good time. Service was fast and food was...... well it was okay. The soups are in the smaller size. I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup and my wife got the chicken noodle soup. Both soup were really bland and boring, we usually don't dress up our soups but I found myself heavy pouring hoisin sauce and sriracha. We also got imperial rolls which were really good. Parking is nice, plenty of space and price is affordable. Would I come back?. Probably not. But I'm glad I came. read more

We have always ordered from here through DoorDash and everything has always been delicious so we decided to dine in last night. I love their chicken noodle pho! It's so simple and clean! The broth is not oily at all and the noodles are just the right chewy consistency. Such a simple dish but so delicious. We also ordered the Dungeness crab spring rolls and the beef cubes with ate rice. The beef cubes were tender and juicy. We've also tried the ground chicken, that's also one of my favorite dishes. They're located right on El Camino, plenty of street parking and they have a little parking lot as well. Super friendly and fast service. Either DoorDashing or dining in, you won't be disappointed. read more

Imperial rolls are fantastic here, it's one of my favorites and my preferred place to order them. I usually get the imperial rolls over bun/rice vermicelli. It comes with lots of veggies (bean sprout, lettuce) pickled daikon & carrot, green onion, and peanuts. The portion is pretty big too, it's a filling meal for sure. Their five spice chicken is also amazing. The chicken is tender and so flavorful. You must order it! The pho is great as well. Hot, comforting beef broth with noodles that are cooked just right. Tender rare beef slices and the beef balls are the items I usually enjoy most. I also like their chicken pho. The chicken they use is kind of tough, but the broth is delicious, especially on a cold day. read more

Is it Authentic Vietnamese food?
As far as I know, it is. I have never been to Vietnam for comparison but it is consistent with other "authentic" Vietnamese restaurants I have frequented. The food quality here is excellent in my opinion.
