This salon is one of my favorites. No matter which nail tech I see, my nails always come out clean, glossy, and "who did your nails?" good. They're quick without rushing, super skilled, and genuinely kind. They'll offer you a drink, the massage chairs are super comfortable, and the whole visit feels like a reset. I usually do a gel mani and gel pedi and I'm out in about 2 hours, which is impressive for how meticulous they are. The massage is so good I come more often than I even need to. I don't usually write reviews, and I'm generally very understanding, but this experience was less than enjoyable. First, my friend had a chunk of skin cut out of her finger during cuticle cleanup, and instead of an apology or acknowledgment, it was brushed off completely. The towels they used had visible crusty residue, the salon had a slight smell of urine, and overall the space felt unsanitary. What really disappointed me was how unaccommodating they were when another friend, who is on the spectrum and feeling anxious, decided she actually did want her nails done after all. Rather than being kind or flexible, they said they didn't have time, even though three employees were sitting around on their phones, folding towels, and watching Fox News. The service was great, the ladies were super nice and cracking me up with their jokes while giving me a gel manicure. Although, my appointment was at 2 pm and I didn't get seen until 2:35 pm. Finally when I did get seen, she did a good job making sure the gel manicure was a quick one as I was in a rush. Nails came out real cute, period. A popular salon located on Fillmore! I booked my gelX manicure via ClassPass. There were a lot of availabilities, so I was able to make an appointment with short notice. I opted for something a bit neutral and went for an orange-ish mauve color. I don't often get manicures, so I was blown away by the amount of time and detail they spent on my nails. They were thorough about caring for my sensitive cuticles and meticulously shaped each nail. The staff was friendly, and the place was very clean. The entire appointment took around 1.5 hours and they even gave me a bottle of water. I was in love with this manicure!! It held up really well, looking great for around a month - I think it could have stayed for even longer had I not peeled at it. I've read that booking through ClassPass isn't advantageous for the business, so I'll opt to call the salon directly next time to make an appointment. I'll definitely revisit when I'm looking to get my nails done again. read more

Attached are photos of the absolutely abysmal ombre job I got done at L&T Nails. The nail tech (male) didn't seem to know how to do ombre with sponges, after being told by another nail tech (female) that sponges could be used to do ombre, who handed him a pack to use. I've had very nice ombre nails done with sponges before, so I know it can be done, and done well. But, if he didn't know how to do it, I would have gladly gotten something else done. But instead he botched the job, AFTER he did one nail pretty well and showed it to me and I was ok with it; idk why he didn't stick with the method he used for the first nail. I didn't realize how bad it was; he didn't show me any other nails. After the first hand was cured I felt like there was no going back; I didn't want to make a scene or ask to leave with one hand done because I would not have wanted to play anything for the service that was done at that point. This was my second trip to this salon, and during the first I paid $45, $54 with a tip (proof attached) for a fill with gel color, no designs. This trip was also a fill with gel color, and he entered the amount at $55 (proof attached; notice the screenshot shows "custom amount"); based on how much I paid before, he either changed for the ombre anyway or gave himself a tip, knowing he was not going to get one after doing this to my nails. This experience is why I'm now doing my own Gel-X nails in my living room; the straw that broke the camel's back. I was done paying "professionals" when I literally had to run home after this and fix my nails myself before plans I had that evening. And after filing off this mess to polish the nails myself, multiple nails lifted, and at least one cracked. Worst experience I've ever had getting my nails done in this city, after 7 years. read more

Pretty displeased w my experience here. I got a gel manicure which I had to go back to the salon twice to fix since it kept peeling. The nail tech offered to do the same exact manicure again (why would I agree to that after 2 rounds of peeling?) and then chose a color that wasn't anything like my original color to replace my set. When I asked her to add a French tip to help make it look better, she said she would charge me! There are many many better salons in SF so I would avoid this one for quality and poor service. read more
