La Piazza has been an institution in Plainview and the surrounding areas for years. This place serves as both a fast casual pizza place, as well as a full fledged restaurant. The pizza at this place comes in two varieties, traditional NY Pizza by the slice, as well as Brick Oven Pizza. Both are done extremely well and come highly recommended, although I am partial to the regular (non brick oven) style. When seated at the restaurant, they always serve you a variety of fresh bread and pizza dough, which is always welcome. The menu is fairly large and has a good variety of choices. I've eaten here several times and the food is pretty good. I've had better Italian, but it is still decent. The only thing is, it's very expensive for what it is. One slice of pizza should not be $4.35. I do come in a lot for the lunch special though. It's a decent deal; you can pick 2 items from three different categories for $13. The portions are a good size too. However, when I came in today, the place wasn't any more crowded than usual and our server took over 40 minutes to bring out our food. I sometimes meet up with friends, coworkers, etc. here for lunch and our food is out in about 15-20 minutes tops. To take over 40 minutes to bring out two lunches when people who walked in after us were being served, is a bit ridiculous. The waitress said she told the people in the back to hurry up, but I believe the people in the back were hustling since everyone else's food was coming out except ours'. I believe that the waitress forgot to put our order in. She said the paninis were taking a long time to cook, however the only cooked items in my panini were two very thin slices of grilled chicken which shouldn't take longer than 6-8 minutes to cook. After waiting 45 minutes and taking up almost my entire lunch hour from work, I asked her to just wrap it up and I took it to go. I'm not against coming back here for lunch, but the service staff needs more training. read more

Ordered salads over the phone was told 20 minutes. I arrived after 20 minutes only to wait another 20 minutes inside. After which I find my dressings were put on the side not tossed into the salads. The last time I was here I ordered salads for pickup they did not chop my salads. Should I go back inside and ask them to correct my order? What will I experience if I do so? read more

I arrived at the restaurant a little before lunch time around 11:30am and ordered a buffalo chicken salad. The restaurant was empty yet I waited so long for this salad that I grew my first grey hair. I asked the employee behind the counter several times how my salad was coming along and he said salads take a while. I was convinced the chef went to the local farm to murder and filet the chicken himself. Without exaggeration it took 25-30 mins before the man who took my order went into the back to retrieve my salad. Great food especially pizza but if you want a salad I don't recommend going here for it. read more

The raging debate: Best buffalo slice in Plainview? La Piazza and Bella Vista are both notorious for their buffalo chicken slices. One cannot ever seem to agree, as they are both quite delicious, however, La Piazza is popular in other towns as well. Many come here solely for the buffalo chicken slice, but their regular pizza and chicken rolls are also great! *It is better to get takeout here than sit inside, it's simply not worth the hassle. read more

Gotta knock them down to one star for bad fish. Had the sole oregenata....as soon as I got home the stomach pains began. I was up for hours with food poisoning. The food here is nothing to write home about but the way you order the food is TERRIBLE. Right when you walk in you see all the workers behind the counter running around but nothing is getting done. I only gave 3 stars, not because of the food or the employees, because of the Mngr Maria. My office is nearby & we always order food here. So of course I thought it was perfect to have a co-worker's baby shower here. I originally booked the cafe w/Louis (Mngr) & he told me we can have the cafe area from 3:30-6:00. Great! A few wks later I call to confirm everything & I speak to Maria. She said she absolutely could not give us the room to 6:00 no matter what Louis told me. She was rude & basically annoyed that we were reserving the area at all!! She was NOT accommodating in any way!!! We asked about getting pitchers of soda & water to make it easier. The waiter Lee (wonderful!!) said Maria won't allow pitchers. My co-workers & I really felt very unwelcome by her!! She truly was a bitch. The owner should know this. I can't complain about the food, because it's always delicious! Especially the salad pizza! I wouldn't recommend to anyone to have any kind of special party/event there, because Maria will definitely put a damper on your plans!!!! read more

The Grandma pizza pie here never lets the family down.. and the grilled chicken Caesar salad is probably one of the best flavored dressings I've ever had..and it's packed with garlic and I don't even like garlic so that's saying a lot coming from me!..I always ask for extra croutons although I'm sure they aren't anything special..I can't get enough of them.. the only reason I'm taking off one star is bc the delivery service isn't so great in terms of time.. both when ordering at home and at work they've taken quite a bit of time regardless of it being before, during or after the normal rushes of lunch or dinner... still order in and take out quite often.. friendly staff as well.. read more

This has been the WORST customer service I have had in a long time. It's bad when you have to ask another waitress who your waitress is AND she gives you attitude. On two separate occasions I called to place large corporate lunch orders and was told that they were too busy to take my order and that I should call back. I guess that they are not concerned with my being at work and busy myself. Hands down the best pizza I've ever had. Buffalo chicken pizza is second to none. Not just the pizza but pasta dishes are excellent as well. Food quality is extremely consistent. I've been coming here for about 3 years and never once was the food bad. Guys working the quick order counter get pretty busy at lunch and it can get a little confusing who's next and which register to pay at but that's a small critique for an otherwise perfect restaurant. read more

The linguini di mare white was mediocre at best. Good size portion, but the shellfish was overcooked and rubbery, the sauce was bland. The baked ziti was good, nice gravy with crusty pasta and cheese on top and properly baked inner pasta. The Branzino was good. Hard to hurt a great fish. They didn't, but they didn't enhance it either. But here's the kicker. $13.50 for a glass of chianti AND, wait for it....they charged my 88 year old mom an extra $1.50 because she asked for marinara for her side pasta with the branzino. ($26.50 BTW). Picture this. She's blind. The waitress (who was great) told my mom the gravy choices for the pasta because my mom couldn't see the menu, but forgot to mention the marinara was an upcharge. When my mom questioned the upcharge, the waitress said no problem, I'll take it off you bill ($102!!!). Now the "manager", he was making pizzas in the front of the store, came over to argue with my mom that the menu clearly stated an upcharge for the marinara option. When my mom said she was blind and the waitress forgot to mention the upcharge, he said it was my mom's responsibility to know that. What the &*#@!!! How is the this guy working in the service industry, let alone the manager???? Don't think we'll be back. The cuisine wasn't even close to being good enough to give this place a second chance... read more

Often the go to local place in Plainview for pizza and Italian take out. Finally had enough with their arrogant counter service (specifically their head counter person) who thinks you should be lucky they are there for you. Final straw was waiting there an hour for a Sunday take out order promised in 15 minutes. Ok, so it took longer..much longer but I got to see their "attitude"at it's best! Telling a customer ahead of me who complained he was waiting over an hour that (quote) " it's not over an hour, it's been 56 minutes" is not the way to make you feel better. Telling me when my order finally comes out, "it's here" instead of apologizing for a massive delay, made me feel great! His attitude was that I was lucky to be served at this fine eatery! When I return 10 minutes later because my order was incorrect and they gave me the wrong thing, I get a lecture how not to act because I was so angry. No apology for the food order error, long prior wait, just a lecture on how to behave in their establishment. Their food is ok I grant you but combine that with a terrible counter attitude and high prices and you are better served elsewhere. On the way out, he calls me back, throws a $15 gift certificate at me and says I am lucky he decided to do something. Mind you the incorrect order was more than that. I said I did not ask for anything and I am not returning so I don't need it and I am told..."oh yes you will..you will be back." Not so. Right now business is good but some day it will mean something to retain customers, like when a new option opens up in the nearby Country Pointe Shopping Center. For now, decent food with an establishment that actually cares about their customers is a little longer ride away! Others should follow as well. For starters, on next Sunday when people are waiting for their orders for an hour, try handing them a tiny piece of pizza or half a garlic roll to at least help pass the time. The cost..nominal. The idea that you care about the customer...high value. I wanted neither but it would be nice to see. At least that would be a start! Good luck without me, though. read more

Normally love this place, but went here tonight and got a bad taste in my mouth. The owners are charging extremely over inflated prices and while the food is good, I've certainly had better. My mom and I usually go into the restaurant part and sit down for waiter/waitress service when we want a slice and a salad from the kitchen. It's just nicer than sitting at the tiny bar section, as a crowd of people ordering tends to accumulate in this area. For dinner, only the bar area is available for eating pizza you order at the counter.When we got our salad, it was fantastic as usual, but then we got our pizza. Mind you, we had two regular slices...and they were so small, they looked like half a slice. Though dissapointed, we ate them anyway, and they were decent. The real clincher came when the bill arrived...apparently, if you sit down for table service they charge you $3.25 for a regular slice of pizza. I'm sorry, but that's highway robbery especially considering that it was so tiny and it isn't a specialty slice. If you order from the pizza counter and eat at the tiny bar, it's only $2.25 plus tax (we asked). On principal I'm not going back anytime soon. That's actually pretty upsetting because it's one of the only decent places to get pizza and salad around here. Oh well...I'll let them have fun ripping people off. read more

But and it's a big but... All the servers, everyone from the guys by the pizza oven to the table service section have major attitude...it's like they are doing you a favor by working... I left Plainview 35 years ago when this place was "The Gallery" and served bad pizza, so when my parents suggested we come here on a recent visit I had zero expectations. Very pleasantly surprised. Excellent pizza, good clams casino (something we just don't get on the West Coast) and what was best was a surprisingly nice veal piccata with a tender piece of veal and a well balanced piccata sauce. My kids like the pizza, but there are lots of places in the area to get good pizza . . . and the other places at least have the courtesy to say "Thank you". I've been to La Piazza a handful of times, the last time (yes, it will be the last time) was on 6/2/14. As with my previous experiences at the take-out counter, the order gets handed to me and the server turns away without a word. It happens (or doesn't happen) every time. What a simple thing to say "Thank you" to a customer, but clearly the manager/owner doesn't feel it's important enough to tell the staff to say it. Yesterday was the last time I will do La Piazza the favor of giving them my money. read more

Just small complaints the online menu is out of date the prices are about $2.00 more than what is online. I ordered a pasta dish to pick up it seems as if the prices went up but the portions got smaller and when you order takeout I usually expect plastic utensils.
