Well there I was, at the Copper Skillet, thinking "You know this place is okay, but not worth standing in line for." So I went a little further away from downtown, and there I found La Primavera also serving breakfast. AND this can be breakfast with a difference. Now if you want the standard "American (ie ham and eggs)" breakfast, they will serve it to you. But if you want an authentic Mexican flavor to your breakfast, real fresh salsa and tender tortillas, this is the place. They are low on the salt in their cooking and chips, but there are salt-shakers there if you are trying to keep your blood pressure up. The service is as quick as one friendly little woman can make it. And their ain't an ounce of that Taco Time feel to this place. But it is welcoming. Although the food is home-cooked, you don't feel like you came uninvited to someone else's home. The place is also clean, not Windex shiny clean, but definitely clean. I will be going back. Came here with a few friends for a late lunch. The place was not too full and the vibe was very traditional Mexican. It took a while to get someone to get our order and refill our cups but our waitress was very nice. The food come in huge portions so the price wasn't bad for how much food we got. I come here more often than not and the food is always great and the place is always clean. For the most part I come during breakfast and get huevos rancheros, still have yet to be let down. Their breakfast burrito is very good along with their huevos con chorizo. This is a very good spot if you're in the area and are craving some Mexican food. Staff is friendly food is tasty and authentic. Only complaints I have would be the parking lot is very small and proves to be a problem when really busy and that it takes a long while to get the bill. My dad personally loves this spot, however, I don't not so much. You can seriously find better Mexican restaurants with more delicious food elsewhere. I had the chilaquiles verdes with chicken and they tasted like plastic. The chicken tasted like if it was 5 days old. I was not impressed. And their carne asada is a let down. Lots of rustic Mexican specials you won't find elsewhere. I don't think a single item on their menu comes from a can. It's all fresh. Burritos actually have meat in them, unlike all of the places that give you rice burritos with a light sprinkling of meat. Lots of meat, too! One normal sized human cannot consume a full burrito by themselves. Don't even try it. Save it for lunch or breakfast the next day and enjoy the wonderfullness a second time! read more

the go-to spot for mexican food in martinez. the Corn tortillas are made By hand, fresh to order. they come out soft and warm- awesome and delicious. this spot serves "home made" food. it takes a little time to make the food, it doesn't come out super fast, but oh-boy is it good. everything is tasty and the menu contains more exotic items such as Mole chicken, flautas and chorizo. good table service from friendly staff and nice clean restaurant. the restaurant is priced higher than a taco truck, but lower than other, quality sit-down restaurants. i dont care if this place is corporate or family owned, but i am sure this is the best mexican food in martinez, and as long as it stays that way, this place will continue to receive my money. read more

My wife and I have lived in Martinez for five years. We eat a Primavera and at the Primavera truck on an all too regular basis. We've also hit almost every other Mexican joint in the area. Finding this fine little gem of a neighborhood restaurant is a perfect example of the power of Yelp - two out of town couples, wanting to meet for dinner somewhere near the halfway point chose Martinez, looked on Yelp, and found La Primavera! The food, salsa, and service were all excellent (as was the ambiance and vibe) and when we get together again we'll make a return visit to La Primavera. However, that being said, I am 100% convinced that without Yelp we would not have found this place - it is in a neighborhood a bit off the beaten path, to say the least. Judging by the other clientele that came and went during our 2+ hours of beer, dinner, conversation and coffee, this serves mainly as a neighborhood eatery. People seemed to be "regulars" by the way they greeted one another and the staff. Maybe some day, we'll advance to that position in the eyes of the other regulars! ps: if you are looking for a romantic or fancy or high-faluting place to impress a date or in-law or customer, you better look elsewhere. I've been looking for a place close by that has breakfast burritos. Little did I know this little gem is right down the street. I called early on a Sunday morning for a pick up.
