We arrived at about 10am (opening time) and we were able to find a good spot in the private parking lot. There were at least 10 other people that must've had the same idea and show up early to beat the traffic. We opted for the grilled halibut and seabass dishes with garlic bread, rice, salad, and ceviche. Even though it was a little cool from the rainy weather, it was still nice enough to eat outside in an enclosed patio with electric heaters. They also have two restroom facilities for any bathroom needs. The main area where we ordered was also where we picked up our orders. We also had the option to call ahead and place orders for pick up/to go. Those were processed in the Seafood Market section (where they had different fresh fish and seafood options). The food was pretty good--opted for garlic butter sauce for the fish and it was the perfect complement to the halibut, but the sea bass was honestly so tender that it needed no sauce. The salad and dressing were as expected. Same with the rice. All of these portions were pretty big. The garlic bread was also pretty tasty and a juge portion, but the ceviche, although good, was a smaller portion than expected. It was fresh and quite flavorful and came with a side of chips. The food was delicious, environment was nice, and we came across others that made the trek out early to enjoy the food at this spot. Will definitely visit again in the future.

There are security guards at the entrance so there are no transients loitering. I got the shrimp and scallops plate and a clam chowder. I thought the plate was ok. Fries were cold .but everything else was fresh but again, nothing stood out. The clam chowder was not salty enough. But it had so much clam pieces! The garlic bread was amazing. I love garlic and this alone was their saving grace. You can taste the fresh garlic and butter! Overall I wouldn't come back but I do see that there are A LOT of loyal patrons. So I would suggest to give them a try.

The shop has been open for 103 years and is certainly impressive! We got there about 10 minutes before open and were the first ones in line. The mochi was fresh, they had a huge selection, and at a good price. They also have tons of other snacks and the staff was so nice and friendly. By the time we left, there was already about a dozen people in line behind us, so definitely recommend to get there early. Ultimately, I went with a six piece with two red bean mochi, two blueberry mochi, and two strawberry mochi. All of them were very delicious, the mochi was perfectly chewy, and a good amount of filling. We will definitely be back if we're in the area!

While the owners have long considered remodeling, the store is kept as is to preserve its history and to be a concrete connection to the past. At around 3:30pm, the line was long but it moved quickly. I purchased a six pack with strawberry, LA & walnut/red bean confections, PB/strawberry mochi, fruit mochi & a packet of apple tea. The young employee who assisted me was friendly and helpful. We loved the strawberry & LA mochi treats the best out of the fresh ones. The walnut red bean was okay, but it was a bit dry. The peanut butter mochi were surprisingly good as well! Overall, this shop is a great place to come for freshly made mochi & manju treats as well as a host of other packaged snacks and delicacies. Support Little Tokyo's continued success and growth by stopping by this very special store that has been in the same family since 1903! Store Hours: 8am-6pm daily Arigato!

I was honestly expecting this would be the best tamal of my life, but it was just OK. I ordered the pork, chicken, and cheese. I did order them toward the end of the day but I reheated some the next day and while freshly reheated was better, I still would not rank this in my top 5 tamales. The pork was the best of the three. The meat was very saucy and spicy, very good flavor. I did not like their masa at all. It is on the hard side for me and had a weird sweet taste. I thought maybe it was the sweetness of the corn but it tastes like they put sugar in their prepared masa. I also do not that it is short and thick. There is not a lot of filling. It's like 85-90% masa. The chicken was very dry, no sauce, and had vegetables in it (corn, tomatoes, chili, peas, lima bean). The cheese tamal had almost no cheese and was mostly veggie and chili. If I came back, I would just get the pork tamales. The pricing is good, with tax, it is about $3/tamal.
