I took my mom here this weekend for her birthday. I believe it will be the first of many visits! We walked in and we're immediately greeted and taken to our seats. The servers were very nice, respectful, and quick. There was a little mix up with the food, but they definitely came up with a quick resolution and made up for it. The ended the dinner with a nice slice of Tiramisu cake with a candle in it! Also the restaurant and facilities were clean!! I feel this place has been Yelp-bombed (and Yelp-bombed up, not down!). It is definitely not 4 stars, and *definitely* not 4 stars in Napa. It's 2.5, and honestly I'm rounding down because of where we are. I had the calamari, which was plentiful if not particularly good, and a gamberi linguine pasta which was much the same. It was like the pasta had a few stray shrimp thrown in and was bathed in a very wet garlic sauce as an afterthought. Perhaps the ratings are a function of the bar as opposed to the food. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this was. Our waiter was so nice and patient with us, 4 ladies gabbing--a lot! He left us alone but circled back to see if we were ready to order. Started with the calamari. Not my favorite, but not the worse I've had. A little too chewy for my taste. The foccia bread was delicious with the oil dip. For dinner I had the chicken cordon blu. It. Seriously???? This place has been given false positivity in these other reviews! Matter of fact I recognize one of them as one of their employees! I'm 6 months pregnant and I'm hungry... There is not much at this point that I do not enjoy... Other then this wretched restaurant!! The service was horrible. The first contact we had was when the waiter asked if we were ready to order, no greeting, no would u like to hear our specials? Just straight up ready to order? The calamari was chewy and rubbery and fishy. The chicken Alfredo had what tasted like a very obvious previously flash frozen piece of chicken that was defrosted in the microwave and then thrown in a pan with nothing to flavor in order to fully cook in attempt to avoid salmonella poisoning. The Alfredo sauce was like slimy watery butter and cream mixed and heated up .... Nasty! The spaghetti was so watered down and runny it was like noodles in soup. I was excited about the reviews and the happy hour but was so disappointed. We came in, sat at the bar. The employee behind the bar never greeted us. Rick finally came around after 15 mins and asked us if we had been helped. We said No. He asked What he could get us started with. We ordered a dirty martini and a vodka soda with a lime. He said I'm not working the bar tonight but I will be glad to get your drinks. He made our drinks and then the bartender came in I asked for extra lime right after she clocked in. She never wash her hands and then proceeded to squeeze lime into my drink. When you cut the limes a 1/2" thick to save money, I will just ask for 4 times the amount. Not good business sense. There were no cocktail napkins available. They had been out for over a week. Another Red flag! Why can you not afford cocktail napkins for a week? We cashed out and left. I do not recommend. This is one of my go to places for good Ilatian flare! The food is always consistent, the service is alwyas good and of course, the company I bring makes it just grand! I had dinner here last Friday night with a few friends. I ordered my usual (Fettecini con pesto) but changed up how I get my salad (usually bleu cheese but this time oil and vinegar). We all enjoyed the food, time and convo. We ordered a bottle of wine but no dessert. As usual, everything was perfecto. We ate here at 7pm on a Tuesday, no reservation seated immediately. Pleasant atmosphere dim lighting for a great sunset sit by the window. We chose; Antipasto Della Casa, Caesar salad, Sausage Ravioli, Prawn Linguini, New York Cheesecake, and chocolate Fondant. Was so disappointed in my lunch today. Ordered the shrimp scampi, sauce looked like dishwater. Grayish brown. Yuck? My friend had the veal the polenta looked like cottage cheese. This in not the first time visiting this restaurant. As far as the food is concerned, I have yet to be disappointed. The ambiance on the other hand is, for a lack of a better word, is dark and dusty. Around the restaurant there are plastic vines with plastic grapes. Even at a glance you can literally see layers of dust just sitting there. The draped are also dark and dusty. The saving grace is the staff; they are very polite and smiled from the time we were seated at the table till the time we left, 3 hours later. We had a very good experience at this restaurant. I can't remember the name of my dish, but it was veal stuffed with kalamata olives, mozzarella, and prosciutto, with a mushroom sauce. It was an amazing dish - I think my husband was envious of what I got. The veal was tender and the sides were perfect. Chris got a fettuccine dish which was also very good. The tiramisu is probably the best I have had. The ladyfingers were not overpowered with espresso or brandy, and the cream was light and fluffy. It had the perfect combination of flavor and texture. I also had the custard with berries, and the custard was surprisingly good. It was thick, creamy and had a strong vanilla flavor. Perfect with the blueberries and strawberries. The bread and oil here are super good, possibly the best free bread I have had at a restaurant. Go ahead and fill up on it before your meal and take leftovers home (yes I'm cheap). Service here was great, and they had no problem letting me choose two different sauces for my gnocchi, which was delicious the first time I had it and the reason I came back a second time. Unfortunately the second time I came back, the gnocchi was not made nearly as well and a disappointment. My second time back, we also ordered the seafood/mushroom risotto, which was a special that night. It honestly wasn't very good. The rice was a little under cooked and not creamy at all like I would expect from a risotto. In fact it was kind of watery. 3.5 stars, rounded down because I'm not sure I would come back anytime soon due to the price/quality ratio. If I do come back it would be for the bread and the hope that I could get gnocchi as good as it was the first time. read more

This place is somewhat of an enigma. The wait staff is fantastic and Mike the Bartender is a nice "neighborhood" kind of guy. What I can't figure out is why they are not busier. Is it management? Is it location, is the fact that they have one of only a couple of full bars in the American Canyon/South Napa County area and do not advertise it? This place should be turning tables at least on Friday and Saturday nights. The menu has a bit too many choices on it and I think that some folks would like to have an option of mashed or smashed potatoes instead of the white polenta, which is very good. It could use a bit more cream but none-the-less it is GOOD! Sometimes a nice garlic-y smashed potato goes well with veal. On Friday I had the seafood linguine with a tangy, and a hint of garlic marinara sauce. I did get one bad mussel and didn't realize it until I had swallowed, but you can't blame the restaurant for that. It was prepared perfectly. One odd note and I have never had this experience with pasta before but when it came to the table, it was so hot that I could not put it in my mouth. PLEASE don't tell me that it made a trip to the microwave oven before it came to the table. But that is the only thing I can think of. I highly recommend a visit. I recommend any of the veal dishes, the veal oso bucco or the calamari steak. All are very good. This place is 5 star in my heart but 3 star until they figure out how to get so busy as to flip a few tables on the weekends. read more

You really can't beat this place. Food is ALWAYS good. Service is ALWAYS good. Yeah, it's a little wierd that it's never full, but personally, I'm glad. I'd hate if this place got crowded. They have a cute little bar area where we start with a Campari and soda. We then move into their dining room. Cute little table for 2 near the fireplace if you ask for it. And that dipping sauce....oh my! Wonderfully garlicky!!! Can't get enough! And I've never been disappointed by a menu item. Hit their Father's Day brunch this year and was not dissappointed. Perfect birthday dinner. We went without reservations and our party of 7 was immediately seated in the private room no less. We ordered the meat antipasto platter and calamari, both were the right size and very tasty. Our waiter was super nice and on point. The food was all divine, I had the veal scallopine with polenta and veggies. The sauce I wanted to lick off my plate, I am a sucker for capers! The prices are a bit high but the quality is good and the portions are very nice. I would definitely come back again and more often. P.S.
