I dined here last night as part of a bachelorette party trip we took for a friend for the weekend, and picked this place because the menu looked like it had a lot of options and the prices were still decent enough. When we got there, we were seated immediately, and the overall environment is pretty great. They have sparkling lights meant to represent the stars of Italy, and our server was very kind and respectful. I personally ordered the Caesar Salad, and the Spaghetti Carbonara. Both tasted amazing, however that came back to bite me in the butt. I woke up at 3:30am today and got sick with food poisoning. Not sure which of the items it was, dirty lettuce from the salad or uncooked egg from the pasta, but it was such a disappointment that a place with such great staff and amazing looking food can make you sick hours later. Will probably not be back again because of this, but hopefully a staff member sees this and makes sure those items are properly cleaned and prepared for future guests! read more

Went back to La Strada the other night with some friends and the experience, while still enjoyable, really isn't up to what I would consider the Eldorado's high standard. Service is always great; Tony was fantastic. The ambiance is quite pleasant. The mushroom ravioli delightful. But they dropped the ball on a couple items which really marred the overall enjoyment of the meal. The bistecca florentina wasn't exactly on point; I talked this dish up to my guests and what we received was a pleasant enough sliced ribeye with arugula, just not the meaty, melty steak with a mound of fresh citrusy salad heaped over it that I'd had in the past. It was good, just not what it used to be. The veal was still a tiny portion, albeit very good (not a complaint, just don't order it if you're hungry). The risotto and scallops was also nicely prepared, but $42 is a lot to pay for three scallops and some flavorful rice. Fried artichokes were a bit tinny (canned, perhaps) and not the wholesome lightly fried dish that we'd enjoyed in the past. But these are all mere quibbles as to what came next. The bruschetta ($15). Holy moly, I wish I had taken a picture of this to share with you all. Here comes a big white oval dish with two of the saddest looking little pieces of sourdough bread just sitting there, a thin smear of tomato puree coating each as if they were blushing in shame at having to be seen like this. No basil garnish. No olive oil. Not even a discernible bit of chunky tomato. There's four of us at the table and we all just kind of looked at each other. It seemed like a joke. We cut the pieces in half so we'd at least get one small bite each and at least the flavor was good. However, there's just no way a dish like this should ever come out of a professional kitchen. All I can say is that I really hope it was "Bring your kids to work" day in the kitchen and this was the effort of some young aspiring chef, because if this is what they present on a daily basis I'll be in no hurry to return. read more

It was our second time dining here in six years, but the experience this time was mixed, with a series of highs and lows. A Bread Basket and butter was a nice starter, but some included Garlic Bread was burned. A Caesar Salad featured Hearts of Romaine, anchovy-laced croutons, and small sheets of Mozzarella but was a little skimpy in volume. And requested anchovies had a dull sheen rather than a shiny appearance. On the other hand, Calamari Fritti presented with light golden rings and brown tentacles. This welcome app was accompanied by fine Pomodoro Sauce and excellent Lemon Pepper Aioli. And an appetizer-sized rendition of La Strada's signature dish, Mushroom Ravioli, lived up to its billing, with minced mushrooms on the inside and heavenly Mushroom Cream Sauce generously ladled on top. My entree of Veal Scaloppine Marsala included good light Marsala Sauce and mushrooms and barely fork-tender medallions of veal, with the unusual addition of Red Bell Peppers. Sides of Sauteed Spinach and Roasted Potatoes were very well prepared. But although my veal had a soft texture and tasted very good, Diane's Veal Parm Alfredo was unfortunately messed up in the kitchen. One of the tough medallions of veal appeared to be obviously burned once the cheesy coating of Alfredo Sauce covering it was pulled back. One would think that an alert chef would have caught and corrected this major error before sending this entree out. To the restaurant's credit, however, once this was shown to our server, he did offer to replace the entree, which Diane declined. Her main also had much parsley on top after she had distinctly said, "No parsley." Despite the errors noted that occurred in the kitchen, service by Chris and Santy was very good. We were placed in front of a colorful mural of a Tuscan countryside, and the half-booth seating was comfortable. Piped in songs by Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble added to the ambiance, but the music was real loud in the cavernous dining room. This time 3-1/2 stars overall! read more

We were celebrating my wife's birthday and made this annotation when reserving on Open Table. While the hostess was seating us she asked us if we were celebrating any special occasion. I was surprised but let her know that we were celebrating my wife's birthday. I had the Mushroom Ravioli and my wife had the Grilled Swordfish. Our sides were spinach and polenta. Unfortunately they were unable to provide a side of risotto. The ravioli was a perfect ten out of ten! The swordfish was grilled crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. The swordfish was served on two patties of polenta. The spinach was fresh and the polenta was creamy and nicely seasoned. We were full after the dinner and I asked our server if we could have the cake to go. He seemed puzzled asked if we were celebrating an occasion. I let him know that we were celebrating my wife's birthday. He apologized, wished my wife happy birthday and promptly went to the back and bagged up a slice of cake. The ambiance is very nice with faux marble columns, a starlight ceiling and beautiful paintings. read more

They didn't have any room in the dining room but offered full table service in the lounge. It was just lovely. We had excellent service and we both enjoyed our meal. We were given the pizza and our server was really nice and said he thought it would be better to have it after. We didn't want it that way, but we went with it. I said to my fiancee "I bet they're going to put the ceasar on two plates and charge a split fee". Guess what?! THEY DID! Ridiculous! The pizza was dry. We had to ask for a side of marinara sauce to help it. The ceasar was good but the split fee was a joke. We walked into the bar side and just sat at the bar. We sat on the bar side and ordered drinks first. Some of the cocktails have a huge cup and definitely worth your money. The bartender was nice, funny, and friendly. We got hungry and ordered food. The fettuccine alfredo pasta with shrimp was absolutely delicious. Last night was my first time to dine at La Strada. It was my birthday celebration and I chose La Strada based on the incredible reviews. We were promptly seated for our 5:30 reservation. Upon seating ourselves we were immediately met by our waiter. I let him know I brought my own bottle of wine from my cellar and could he have our sommelier come open and decant our 2006 Alpha Omega Cabernet Sauvignon. He informed me the corking fee for my wine was $35. I asked if they would waive the fee for my birthday but he "couldn't". This was a bit pricey and the only negative of the evening. Our sommelier MIKE was very cordial upon his introduction. He began with a history of the owners and their family. It was a great story of the entire family and I truly enjoyed the conversation. MIKE is a true professional!! Now how about the meal? We started with an appetizer: PROSCIUTTO-WRAPPED PRAWNS. $17.95 Tuscan Butter Bean Salad, Balsamic Drizzle. The appetizer came with four bacon wrapped prawn. This was probably on of the best appetizers I've ever had. The combination of the buttered beans, onions with the bacon wrapped prawns was AMAZING!! For our entrees we decided to go with our own version of family style. We ordered three entrees and shared each equally. First entree was: CAVATELLI & PRAWNS ALLA VODKA $27.95 Prawns -Creamy Tomato Vodka Sauce - Roasted Bell Peppers - Basil. This dish was very creamy with vodka sauce which is my favorite and large prawns. This dish ranked # 2 within our group rating. Second entree was: LAMB CHOPS SCOTTADITO. $58.95 Herbs & Garlic Marinated, Double Fried Calabian Potatoes, Artichoke Confit. This was my personal choice and the lamb chops were prepared medium rare per my request. There were three chops and they were prepared and tasted to PERFECTION!! WOW. Served with delicious Calabrian potato's soooo delicious. This entree scored #1 in our group rating. Third entree was: GRILLED SWORDFISH $41.95 Polenta Cake - Puttanesca Sauce. The swordfish was prepared medium rare. The swordfish was delicious smothered in puttanesca red sauce and olive oil. The polenta cakes were very soft and delicious as well. This entree was ranked #3 within our group. Finally I was offered a Tiramisu cake with a candle. I passed on the singing of Happy Birthday from our sommelier but I saw him perform for another table and he's quite good. This was my first time at this restaurant although I've enjoyed their mushroom ravioli at the Italian Festival every year. It's beautiful inside-opulent with lots of dark wood. We were there to celebrate my husbands birthday and somehow our reservation had been lost but we were accommodated at the bar, which was still nice. Love the complimentary bread basket they give you-my favorites were the bread sticks and garlic bread. We started with a caprese salad-fresh and flavorful. For entrees we had the cannelloni and of course the mushroom ravioli. Their mushroom ravioli is delicious but the cannelloni was also very good. This is a great spot for a special occasion! It's a nice fancy Italian restaurant in Reno! I would highly recommend starting with prosciutto wrapped prawns. They were tasty and cooked perfectly. The food was very good, but it could have had a little more seasoning. I got the Shrimp with penne ala vodka and was happy to find a lot of shrimp in the dish. Because my husband had gotten a risotto dish that came with an appetizer and dessert, we were lucky to be able to try the mushroom ravioli and the tiramisu. Both were excellent! Came out to La Strada for dinner with some old friends. Made the reservations via open table a few weeks back. When we got there, we were sat outside and not in the restaurant. I asked the kind lady who provided our wine to see if we can get a table inside due to the smoke. She stated it wasn't possible since all the tables were occupied. Having the lingering smoke smell hampered the experience. The option should be provided to sit in or out, and if it's outside, put it in the reservations! If I would have known that, would have canceled. Service was fine, our waiter was friendly. The focaccia app with the prosciutto was great and the baked ziti I ordered was tasty but the pasta was very over cooked. The cannoli for dessert was not worth it. Would have been a better experience sitting inside rather than outside with the casino smoke. read more

As soon as you walk in, you get greeted with a smile and notice the incredible ambiance. The service was top notch which is what you expect from a place like La Strada. The menu was also what you would expect from an American-Italian style restaurant. Since my daughter, who was with us, spent a year in Italy as an exchange student, she is somewhat of an expert in Italian cuisine. She ordered the carbonara as she claims that the way a restaurant creates a carbonara shows whether it is really Italian or not. She loved her dish. As or me, I ordered the Risotto Mare E Monti, shrimp in risotto with asparagus and parmigiano reggiano. It came with their signature mushroom ravioli along with a marvelous desert. My only beef with the main course was the lack of seasoning. It really could have used a touch more salt and pepper, but maybe, that's just me. Otherwise a nice evening with the family. read more

Christopher and Mikey were our servers Saturday night. They not only provided great service but also their sense of humor was amazing and added to our great dinner. We ordered the Seared Scallops with Risotto and their famous Mushroom Ravioli. The scallops were tender, sweet, and buttery. The risotto was so amazing we ordered another order to go so we could enjoy it again. The Mushroom Ravioli was also excellent. Their wine list is extensive, and we enjoyed a couple of glasses of Pinot Grigio. The restaurant has an old-school steakhouse ambiance with candlelight on each table. My family and I visited La Strada on 04/20/2024 after spending a weekend in Reno. We had been here previously and had a great experience the past three times we had been there. I'm unsure if they switched owners, chefs or staff in general as our experience this time was very much different than our previous ones. To start off, my drink was forgotten about until I mentioned it to our waitress (who was very sweet). It wasn't too much of a big deal and the waitress apologized and stated we wouldn't be charged for the drink was it had been forgotten about. I ordered the Viel Chop which I had gotten before and knew I had loved it. What I received was a porkchop (which was dumb of me to not notice since the beginning). I wouldn't have had an issue had the porkchop been good, but the sauce was very salty and the plate was not good overall. On top of it, there's a heavy price difference between the viel chop and a porkchop. My family had ordered the chicken parmesan and they stated it was dry and flavourless. Again, these were plates we have had and really enjoyed in the past. Going back to my drink, it was garnished with a cherry and an orange, the cherry was spoiled, which I noticed towards the end as I kept getting a very bad smell from my drink. When the spoiled cherry was mentioned to the waitress, she again apologized and stated she would verify in the back to make sure no one else would be getting a spoiled cherry. When it came time to pay (we were a family of 12), the kind waitress stated that because of the inconvenience, she had not charged for a few of our ordered items which we appreciated. Our mistake was not asking to review the charges prior to paying - we were charged for all of the items (except for a kids ravioli). We're not ones to really complain as we rather avoid confrontation, but it's very disappointing to go to a restaurant that is considered on the higher end, with 12 people and receive food that does not meet basic expectations. We could expect these issues from a restaurant like olive garden, but not one that's promoted like this one. When we left our table I was left with this really bad gut feeling and felt the need to bring this all up to the manager on duty. When I was explaining everything to her, she just kept nodding her head and at the end just said "I'll mention it to my kitchen staff" which to me was not the proper way to handle something like this. All in all, I can guarantee my family and I will not be dining here again. Our waitress was super sweet but the "manager" should have handled this whole situation better. At the end of the day we were a large family who spent close to $500 and who were seeking to have a nice family dinner, like we have had here before. read more

The service was also great. We got seated at a table where it was a bit noisy and the manager came up to us without us even asking and asked us if we would like to move somewhere quieter. I highly recommend La Strada whether you're celebrating an event or just a nice dinner out. We started with a cocktail in their cozy bar. Service was quick and the drinks were done to perfection (which isn't always the case at some places.) Our bartender was professional and personable. I love how their bar area is completely isolated away from the restaurant. For dinner we ordered the antipasto plate to share which had several types of meat and cheese. Very yummy. A basket of freshly baked bread sticks and garlic bread arrive about the same time. It was too good! I ordered the clams with linguini, one of my favorite dishes. They did not disappoint. My husband had the Orechiete in a pepper sauce. It too was delicious. We will be back! read more
