We finally made it on our staycation to try La Strada for the first time. The ambience was amazing I really enjoyed the twinkling lights up above and all the marble pillars were a nice touch. We had Christopher as our waiter and he was so nice and accommodating, he came by often to ask if we needed anything and made sure we we're enjoying our meal. I've always wanted to try La Strada, but just never have. I think this visit was a little underwhelming, but I would really like to come back and give it another shot. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and intended on going to Ruth's Chris, we ended up walking around the casino and saw La Strada and figured we would give it a try. Around 4:00 I walked up to the host podium because a employee, I think she might have been a manager, was there answering phones. I asked if there was availability for 2 when they opened, she was pretty rude and we almost left, but I was able to get our names in for 5pm when they opened. When we came back we were quickly seated. We had what I would expect was the worst table in the restaurant. It was right near the expo line and VERY noisy. We ordered a couple glasses of wine and the calamari fritti. The calamari was very good, it came out hot, very light and crispy. We then ordered the signature mushroom ravioli and lobster fra diavolo. The mushroom ravioli was amazing, tender pasta and a really creamy delicious porcini cream sauce. The lobster spaghetti was good, a lot of lobster - 2 whole tails, but the lobster was very overcooked and rubbery. I was impressed by the quantity, but it is such a waste to over cook it that much. The spaghetti had god flavor, and the sauce was a little spicy which was nice. The service the whole time was pretty lacking. There were 2 people helping our table yet after the initial ordering no one came by to see how we were doing. my husband wanted another glass of wine and I wanted to order dessert, but it was hard to get anyone's attention even though they appeared pretty slow. Everything besides the service was pretty good. I would like to go back and try them again. I think next time I will make reservations ahead of time, and ask to be away from the expo if possible. read more

After hearing that La Strada had some of the best pasta in country, we decided to give them a try! We made a reservation for 7:30PM on Open Table and was seated immediately. The inside was dimly lit with candles placed at every table, making it extra cozy. Our waiter was super friendly but sometimes a little hard to flag down. We decided to try their sparkling wine flight, mushroom ravioli, and orecchiette. They offer each table garlic bread to start. I loved our wine flight and getting to sample some sweeter and less sweet wines. Their mushroom ravioli was creamy and so tasty. I requested something special for our anniversary maybe glass of complimentary drink or dessert like most other restaurants but that didn't happen. The food was decent. I ordered lamb medium well but it was over cooked and burnt. Really burnt ends and it tasted bitter. Not sure how the chefs are able to serve burnt food. Salmon was good. Drinks are over priced. $18.95 for a cocktail. We also ordered dessert pistachio creme brulee and my husband loved it. I did not like it. The top was extra hard and could tell it wasn't freshly made. BEST server I have ever encountered - KEITH !!! Personality, attentive, spot on with food recommendations - PERSONALITY !!! Awkward was cutting our first bites and feeding us BUT, it was amusing as all get up. He kept us on our toes with his banter back and forth with us. My pasta came out al-dente, but way way under cooked. Literally 10 minutes later I had a whole new dish in front of me, he picked what I would be eating and got it right ! Every time we visit The Row, we always return to La Strata for dinner. We loved the toasted garlic bread they are hot and garlicky! The Caesars salad was v fresh this time AND not salty. My seafood linguine was great. The linguine was cooked just right (I had pasta here that was extremely el dente that it was hard to chew!) this time pasta was great! My husband has their special turf and surf. The filet was good but the fish (black cod) was an extremely thin slice! Otherwise the dinner was remarkable. I must say, we were highly impressed with the quality and taste of our meal on our last night in Reno. We were downtown having a cocktail and the bartender recommended La Strada for some excellent Italian food. We made our reservation by Open Table which guaranteed us a table for our time slot. The restaurant is easily located on the upper floor of the El Dorado Casino/Hotel. We started our meal, as recommended, by ordering the mushroom raviolis. What an amazing treat. The flavor was unbeatable. Could have settled for these along with the excellent tasting fresh bread they served. Moving on, we had the Baked Caniloni and the Chicken Parmesan. Both dishes were well prepared and had excellent palette pleasing tastes. Paired with a very nice Red, the dinner was a success. We ended with the Tiramisu and the Crème Brûlée and left completely full and satisfied. The staff was also excellent. My water glass was never empty for long and everyone was very aware of all the diners needs. Would definitely return here for dinner if craving Italian in Reno. read more

La Strada was delightful last night. Our first time there. Had a 1/2 order of mushroom ravioli for an app, their house salad. Enteees were cannelloni and risotto with scallops. I felt the risotto was a tad too Al dente but my wife really enjoyed it. All in all it was a really nice experience from service to food. Will go back and sit in the lovely bar next time. Once the restaurant starts to fill up it gets LOUD. Here's the deets on the eats Mushroom Rav- WORTH THE HYPE! Amazing porcini packed pockets of homemade pasta on an amazing shroomy goodness cream sauce. It's sex and a nap good. House salad- I love a Gorgonzola balsamic combo but their olive bread crouton crumbs were out of sight. Risotto with Scallops- A tad too Al dente on the rice (for me) but a beautiful creamy dish with gorgeous seared scallops. Cannelloni- what can I say, it was love at first bite. Mmmmmm, what a fun and delicious spot. The esteemed mushroom ravioli lived up to the hype, rich and deep. The veal stole the show with the vegetables on top and on the side perfect. My cannelloni was more lasagna than the solid rolls I expected but still great flavor. the pizza was more flatbread to me but again tasty. The caesar needed more anchovy but the dressing was tangy and delicious. Many bonus points for garlic bread and bread sticks right out of the oven and perfect to scrape every ounce of sauce off the plate. And what a wine list!!!! Molto Delicioso!!! My wife and I just finished an amazing and delicious dinner. I wholly recommend the Veal Parm. The flavor of the sauce was homemade and the cheese was just enough to give some texture without overwhelming the delicate veal. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the filet with polenta. She nearly ate every bite which is something to say for a such a tiny lady! And don't even get me started on the cannoli!!!! Just like my mama made! As for ambience and service - 5 stars there as well. La Strada feels intimate and welcoming while also being open and spacious. We never felt crowded. Our server was attentive without being bothersome. We never asked for anything, it was always there when we needed it. They read our minds! The staff is super friendly, friendly, flexible and willing to accommodate customers wishes. I had my usual mushroom ravioli. They are a dream and to die for. The filling is very flavorful and delicious. The sauce is creamy, velvety and almost like a cloud. The tortellini shells are just perfection. My boyfriend had the meat ravioli. Not bad either but mine took the gold prize. Fabulous food accompanied by great wine and enjoyed with even greater company. Its been a few years since I have been to La Strada. I believe the first time was because I won a giveaway and received a gift certificate. This time was also unplanned, but so glad it happened! My friend and I were downtown because we were going to a concert at the Silver Legacy. We had tried to other restaurants , but they were too busy and we didn't have enough time to wait for long lists. La Strada was the next one I was hoping was available ! And we got there just in time! We arrived about 5:30pm. The dinner rush started in the next half hour! It was a busy Saturday night downtown! This restaurant can be causal or formal dress. I saw both there. Prices are on the slight higher end, but if you choose something in your budget, you should be okay. There is an extensive wine list, if you love wine. The atmosphere is pleasant. The host told us that "La Strada" means "the Street". That the owner wanted you to feel like you were walking down the streets of Italy. I ordered the Antipasto Misto for an appetizer. It was delicious! Various meats and olives with some pickled onions & celery. There was a few blocks of different cheeses. I was hoping for more cheese. But everything on the platter was great! You get a complimentary bread basket with parmesan twists, garlic bread, sourdough bread, and one more type. My friend ordered a veal dish that included a good portion of meat and spinach with some potatoes. He was satisfied! I got their signature mushroom ravioli ! It was very good! And filling! Went here to celebrate a Spring graduation and it was reasonably busy at the bar, but the restaurant staff were still attentive and provided great service throughout the night. My first time in Reno and I was surprised how busy it was. We decided to try and eat at La Strada but it was a two hour wait. That was our fault for not making a reservation. But that's ok we decided to wait. Two hours later we returned and were told we still wait. As we were waiting a group of 9 men walked up and begged for a table because they were celebrating a birthday/bachelor party. The manage Nichole said "happy birthday " and sat them right away. When we inquired about our table she said we needed to wait because we just checked and it would still be some time. We proceeded to tell her that we had been waiting for two hours and To our surprise, Nichole became defensive and rude. All we wanted was to talk to a manager to ask why we were continuing to be set aside when they clearly had tables ready. Nichole needs a bit more de escalation training. We calmly asked to speak to a manager and she said no and we could call for her manager. She is the manager!!! She then decided to escalate the situation further by saying "we have sat you so you can either sit or leave".... When they did seat us the polite gentleman apologized and took us to our table that was not ready. So, we left. Very disgusting but she clearly won't care and that's fine! We told are waitress we were hungry, she brought out some garlic bread for us to munch on. 7:30 they had our table. The ambiance was romantic,, upscale. The service impeccable. Most of all, the food was amazing. The mushroom ravioli, veal saltibuca, stuff ricotta. All fantastic. We couldn't finish any of it. We're old and the portions were robust. Only issue. 02/13/2014 The reason for writing this review and our disappointment in La Strada is, on January 25 we made a reservation for an early Valentines dinner and to late attend concert. Yesterday we received not only one confirmation request from La Strada but 2 in which we confirmed our reservation. Late last evening after returning home from an event my wife had a voicemail from La Strada cancelling our reservation. It turns out they are supposed to be closed on the 13th. If this is the case they had 2 weeks to let us know they would be closed but instead we are notified at the last minute making it difficult to make other arrangements. I called the Eldorado, where they are located several times today to verify whether or not La Strada was open today. The operator's response confirmed they were open today on 02/13/2024. It is obvious that there is some sort of communication or management issue. read more

My entire family (normally 8 people) have been coming to La Strada for 30+ years. We always start the Great Italian Festival by dining here--over the years, it has been one of our favorite restaurants. It saddens me to post this review, but I feel like I need to do so. First, the garlic bread was cold and soggy. We pretty much left the entire basket there (this is really unusual because all of my family loves bread)!!! Next, we always start our meal with the calamari, but this time it was actually inedible. We told our server and she offered to refire another one, but we said we did not want one. Instead, we ordered the fried artichokes. Sadly, there were also terrible-they tasted burnt and unseasoned. Since we've always been fans of La Strada we didn't want to complain again. I ordered the pappardelle bolognese...the pasta was not Al dente and there were drenched in way too much sauce. On a positive note, our server Esmeralda was fantastic (and our longtime server Jack came by to say "Hi" because he was working a special event) and the mushroom raviolis that my mom ordered were still quite good. After dinner, three out of the four of us had upset stomach issues. Because we wanted to make sure this was just an anomaly and not a trend, I went back to talk to a general manager the next night. Nicole came out and I explained our entire situation to her...that we've been coming here for 30 years and we have never had a bad meal. She seemed perturbed with my constructive criticism and kept repeating that she could call security to report our illnesses... She was almost to the point of being rude. I said I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a continuing trend because we were going to eat there the following night... Her response was I understand if you want to cancel. She did not offer to make any type of amends or to offer any apologizes. Being a longtime customers, this did not sit very well with us. It was very disappointing.... And it saddened us. We made reservations the first night we got to Reno as this place was highly recommended by our friends. We noticed it was packed and made reservations for the second night. Let me just say the food and service was an A+++!!! We checked in and were seated within 5 minutes. Our server Tony was great and made recommendations for dinner and drinks. Our food took a bit long but it was definitely worth it as you could tell everything was made fresh and with love. We had an appetizer and of course their bread basket. All delicious!! We wanted a decadent anniversary meal and La Strada was the perfect choice!! We had a reservation and were seated right away, and our server Antonio was super helpful the whole night! He helped us pick a nice bottle of wine and was very attentive the whole evening. I've seen a few reviews that comment on the length of time a meal here takes, but what I experienced was the staff allowing me to take time to enjoy each of my courses which I really appreciated! I think total we were seated for an hour and a half, and it was so wonderful to not feel rushed at any point during the meal. The garlic bread they place at the table is dangerous- I could definitely see myself eating the whole basket!! We started with the calamari and were astounded at the portion size- look at how much is on this plate!! Similarly the mushroom ravioli said it came with 8, and I ended up with 12 on my plate which was such a joy. There's a reason the mushroom ravioli is so highly celebrated- it's just incredible, the pasta itself is so delicate and the sauce is so creamy and packed with flavor. I almost passed on this dish like a fool, thinking I'd want something 'heartier'- If you're reading this review and feeling the same way take this as a sign to get the ravioli! The baked ziti was also delicious and packed with flavor, a great choice too! We ended up taking home some of the ravioli and some of the baked ziti, the portion sizes here are so generous. We ended the night with the tiramisu and I got the oh Danny boy coffee cocktail, both were the the perfect balance of sweet enough but not overpowering. I was personally really delighted by the icecream served with the tiramisu! The mushroom ravioli was excellent and very well executed. The fritto misto had the calmari and shrimp cooked just right. The best part was the dessert. The ricotta pistachio cake melted in the mouth, subtly sweet and nutty, creamy with sugar powder dusting. The accompanying whipped cream and orange marmalade did not go well with the cake as the orange flavor overshadowed the subtle pistachio. But when used as palate cleanser, enhanced the next bite of cake! Excellent service with cooperation between our server and the busser. Reasonable prices for the quality. We went last night and the service was horrible, and our waiter is rude. We have been here before, and it was great, but last night was horrible. The wait staff never came back to fill our drinks. I asked for a refill when I got my dinner, and the waiter waited until I was nearly done with my food before coming to the table and saying he would bring my drink in a minute. High marks all way around - and it's even a better deal if you have show tickets because they give you 50% of all entrees - three entrees, a salad, a side of spinach, a wine flight and two desserts for just over $90 is a steal. You'll understand once you read below... As a nice touch, there is a server that walks each party back to its table. Decor is dark (a little too much for Yelpers trying to get good foodie pics) adorned with nebuchanezzer sized wine bottles and Italian decor - all done intimate and cozy. Even the ceilings look like a romantic star-lit night. We informed our sever of the need to finish before the show - they are used to this and are sensitive to timing if necessary. On to the food: Beet and root vegetable salad: Volume was a little low here and there are hardly any greens but it remains interesting - beets couscous that looks like caviar, parsnips, red & yellow beets - I would have liked to see more artichokes though. Pappardelle Bolognese: One of their signature dishes. It is quickly obvious how the handmade noodles are the highlight even with an excellent beef sauce. If you've had fresh handmade noodles, you'll know - you can eat a ton just with a little butter. Spaghetti and Meatballs - had a chance to eat the veal based balls and it was moist, tender and so flavorful. La Strada Signature Ravioli - Green pasta and mushrooms in the middle - this was really good too, a tad on the salty side if anything. Affogato - really a must order - vanilla gelato fresh and creamy. The espresso is served in a separate glass so you can pour and record slo-mo for great memories! I also ordered the Cab flight which paired very well with the heavier Papparadelle dish. They could have more Italian red selections by the glass - that would be bonus points. I've been to La Strada a number of times and the food and service have always been outstanding but recently hosted a milestone birthday for my wife here with 22 additional guests They prepared a special multi course meal for us including Garlic bread Meat ravioli Mushroom ravioli Shrimp and asparagus risotto Salmon Picatta Grilled chicken Yukon gold potatoes Ny strip Steak with mushrooms Tiramisu Each course was phenomenal. The mushroom ravioli was out of this world and the New York strips were an absolutely perfect medium rare My Old Fashioned cocktail never ran empty and the attentiveness of the service staff was second to none. Brought the lil Chick here for dinner prior to chaperoning prom. It was her first fine dining experience. The beaver age service started out great but we didn't get refills until after we paid our bill. I didn't knock off any points for that as they were busy with large parties of teens. I ordered the mushroom raviolis and the lil one ordered the meat raviolis. I also added the Cesear salad. The salad is one of my favorite. I love a good homemade dressing where you can taste the anchovies. The raviolis were spot on like always. We made reservations during a busy weekend (Italian Food Festival) recommended by the concierge at Silver Legacy. Upon arriving (a bit early), we were seated immediately thanks to the great hostess. He assisted with the pairings of wine, offered great recommendations, and was throughly attentive. We had high expectations given the price of dining. The service was fair & appreciated. No complaints. We were craving a meal that would be full of flavor & texture. Little flavor & not the texture we wanted. From the top: * The bread was baked garlic bread, a bit too much too soon. They over served the bread, it was probably an entire baguette they cut up & put in our basket. * We tried their soup special: cream of broccoli. Tasted like chopped up broccoli. Lacked depth & needed more of a kick of flavor. We added salt & pepper. * My better half ordered spaghetti & meatballs. Simple, yeah? We waited maybe 25-35 minutes for our main entree for his noodles to be a little too al dente. Craving meatballs -- they served veal meatballs which were overly gamey. Worst meatballs I've ever had & I grew up eating venison if that tells you anything. * I ordered their traditional ravioli with meat sauce -- it was highlighted on their menu as a proud original entree of their establishment. Honestly don't have much to say about the noodles because the meat was so gamey & tough it distracted us from the entire dining experience. We survived by one glass of their pinot noir (to start), two tropical jubilee (fantastic, btw, excellent cocktail) & two shots of their Louis cognac (paired much nicer than you'd expect & served us well to endure the rest of our meal).
