I have to say we both had a wonderful time last night at La Strada. Thanks to all the staff especially Colton he made our entire evening very enjoyable and he accommodated us with everything that we desired. As locals I don't know why we haven't been more often but we will now. The grilled octopus appetizer was just as I expected, tender and full of flavor as was everything else. The gnocchi was light as a feather and the bolognese that accompanied it was rich and flavorful. I love ossobuco and this was as authentic as it gets, the kitchen substituted polenta for me which was creamy and delicious. We finished dinner with tiramisu and cappuccino, yum. Food was amazing definitely hit the spot and the bread basket was delicious. Only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars was because unfortunately I got the worst server. My table was next to the order up counter and I can see my food ready for almost 10 mins. But the server didn't check on me and I can see him just counting his money and just chillin. My wife and I were staying at the Eldorado and gave this place a try. I have a mixed review. The food was excellent. I had grilled octopus for my antipasto. Very good! It was cooked perfectly. My main dish was seafood with linguini. This also was excellent. There was a ton of clams, mussels, shrimp and octopus. The food was worth the price. The service on the other hand...was poor. The waiter forgot my octopus and it didn't show up until my main course was already served. The waiter was very apologetic but his mistakes continued. He disappeared for about 10 minutes when we were done and wanting to order desert. He took so long to come back we just asked for the check. He did take the octopus off the ticket which was nice but the damage has been done. I doubt this is normal but it still soured a great meal. I hat to say it but all these delicious pictures on here are very deceitful,, we came here last night 11/14/20 I got the infamous mushroom ravioli and my shit was cold in the middle. My fiancé had veal osso buco with risotto and his meat Tate's like it came out a bag and the risotto tate like Mac and cheese with dish soap. On my most recent trip to Reno, I was craving Italian food and decided to give La Strada a try. The reviews on Yelp were promising as well as everything I'd heard from people who had dined here. I came on a Monday night right when they opened. Needless to say, no reservation was required and over the course of my meal, only three other tables were seated. But I've heard this restaurant can get quite busy, so if you're coming on a weekend for dinner I would suggest a reservation. Our server was extremely friendly and very attentive, keeping our water glasses full and making sure everything was to our liking. We ordered bruschetta to start as well as a Caesar salad to split. For our entrées, I ordered the veal piccata and my friend ordered the lasagna. They brought us a basket of bread that had a wonderful variety of warm, fresh bread. I could've eaten the entire basket if I knew wonderful food wasn't coming my way! The bruschetta was unremarkable but the tomatoes were fresh and the EVOO was high quality. The Caesar salad was good as well. But what really blew me away was the tenderness of the veal piccata and the wonderful sauce that was developed over top of it. I also had the chance to try the lasagna and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's not your traditional overwhelmingly tomato-flavored lasagna, but had a rich, hearty meat sauce with a more rustic flavor. Background - My wife set up the date, she has our even year anniversaries. This is our second. She talked with Ivano's fiancée to make sure he was working and to let him know that we would be taking the Chef's Choice. Atmosphere - Tucked away on the second floor of casino. You would never know after entering the place. I love mural on the one room. We sat so my wife could see the open kitchen and even watch Ivano and his chef's work hard. It was a Monday night and the place was full. Food Drinks - I had water as we had a drink before dinner at Cin Cin. Chef's Choice courses 1st Course - Beet salad, I hate beets, okay until now. Two slices of golden and regular beets topped with pine nuts and greens. 2nd Course - It was like getting two plates at once. The pesto gnocchi with green beans with pesto sauce on the left with the right being a sausage Bolognese. I love gnocchi this was probably my favorite part of the night. I probably have said this a lot but these little things really melt in your mouth. The sausage was like a meat crumble. Oh let me eat more please. 3rd Course - Left side of the plate had seared tuna on a bed of arugula and olives. On the other side of the place was pancetta wrapped around pork medallions. I went with the pork first and it did not disappoint. The crispy edges of the pork were heavenly. Tuna is my favorite fish and served seared is the best, and Ivano executed it to perfection. Dessert - Mocha panna cotta, mmmm coffee flavored dessert. What more can you ask for? Service - Chris was our waiter; great, professional and funny. And you cannot forget our chef Ivano, the food was amazing. Future - Yeah we will back! So stuffed, do they have $20 version of the Chef's Choice. Took my wife and her friends here for her birthday. I ordered the lamb chops (medium rare). Took a bite and it was close to beef jerky style. Yes I should have complained but didn't want to ruin the birthday dinner party and tried to make the best out of it by finishing my plate. Later on the evening, it turns out my wife and her friend had food poisoning. My wife later told me she found a hair in her pasta as well. We were sat right across the kitchen delivering an authentic ambiance. Had Robert as our server and was impressed with such family style phenomenal of service. My date and I were escorted by the maitre d, Nichole herself and was very professional, giving a thorough understanding of menu. Head chef Massimo made us a to die for focaccia paired with prosciutto wrapped prawns as appetizers. Robert recommend a delicious white wine that also paired well with my new favorite Boneless Half Chicken Mattone. Overall, food was great so was hospitality. The cocktail menu was definitely a flavorful delight. Glad to say I will be returning. Personally recommend trying the Rum Runner., just the right touch to sweet citrus and rum, not too overwhelming. My mom and I dined here Thanksgiving weekend, and we had a seriously fun time! Of course you're having fun because you're in a casino and likely have a booze buzz, but the staff and chefs of La Strada treated us to a fun evening thanks to friendly demeanors and an adventurous menu! My Open Table reservation for 6:30 on a Friday night was honored no problem, and we were seated at a small but cozy table. I unfortunately can't remember our server's name but he was charming and all smiles, and seemed a bit nervous. I've dined at enough fine dining places to know that the servers here could use a bit more training on the menu, but it did add a more casual vibe to this place. And since the ambience is pretty while the prices are fair, a relaxed atmosphere is fine. It didn't take much persuading for us to order the Chef's Tasting Menu. The catch is that all options are a surprise for the diner - as the menu says, Trust Us. Your server won't spill the beans either no matter how much you bat your eyelashes - trust ME. But only $40 for four courses is a well-priced adventure! We also opted for our waiter's suggestion of the accompanying wine flight. FIRST COURSE - APPETIZER: Arugula and roasted beet salad, with pepitas and gorgonzola with balsamic. You couldn't pay me to order this off a menu, but I'm genuinely glad I had the chance to try it. Light, fresh and tangy! SECOND COURSE - PASTA: It was no big surprise that this course was the best of the 4, after doing my Yelp pre-research and hearing about these mushroom ravioli. Luckily our primi included the ravioli, and also Black olive pasta with duck and mascarpone. Something else I would never have ordered (you lost me at olive), but both pastas were mindblowing!! I wish we could have had larger helpings of both pastas and just ended the meal there. Just amazingly delicious and savory - the black olive pasta with duck and mascarpone was umami galore!! THIRD COURSE - PROTEIN: And here's where we stubbed our toe. The secondi was another duo - beautifully presented but immediately viewable as over-portioned for a tasting menu. I preferred the Salmon with parsnip puree, roasted tomatoes and broccolini over the Boar with creamy polenta, although both were fairly average. In fairness, anything would have been a letdown after the amazing pasta except MORE pasta, but lackluster flavors AND way too much on the plate brought my happiness down a couple notches. FOURTH COURSE - DESSERT: Redemption was found here con dolci, with their holiday-friendly egg nog panna cotta with lingonberries and a gingerbread crumble. I thought I was stuffed to the gills but they presented a light and well-portioned dessert, and we both absolutely loved it. WINE: We were a tad misled, the wine flight was suggested as an accompaniment but it really was merely a four-wine flight. No explanation was given about the wines short of the varietal, and the pairings were off the mark to my palate. It was I believe an additional $15, which is a reasonable price for a generous four-wine flight, but servers need to be clear about what they are offering. Overall, I left very happy and was delighted to be part of the culinary adventure La Strada offered at a reasonable price. I would definitely be up for their tasting menu again, but I may never get past the memories of their exquisite pastas. A great choice for a nice dinner in this casino town! read more

Having been to La Strada multiple times, I have been fortunate to experience this delightful restaurant with friends and solo. I felt very comfortable either way. Surprisingly, my doll of a server, Tony, quickly remembered me after just one previous visit to his section. He was flawless. Not only was Tony a pleasure, the busser was warm and welcoming, and the hostess was outgoing and made friendly chit chat. The setting was not intimate, but was very comfortable. It would be great for dates, families, celebrations and business. One group was celebrating a birthday, and servers skillfully sang in Italian while bringing candle lit desserts. There were tablecloths and candles at each table. The overall feel was rustic Italian. There was a lovely selection of wines. The menu is varied, with delicious sounding pastas, seafood and meat. I tend to stick with seafood--which was yummy. Apparently, Chef Ivano Centemeri has been with La Strada for a long time and I sure I hope he stays. read more

We enjoyed a very nice dinner at La Strada in the El Dorado Casino tonight with our Reno Groupon coupon. We found it very nice that they offer an early bird dinner special from 5 to 6 PM and it's also good with our Groupon. My husband enjoyed their famous mushroom raviolis and I had the chicken Parmesan dinner. I had their Caesar salad with great shaved Parmesan on on it and my husband enjoyed the minestrone soup which came with our earlybird dinner.y Maybe one of the best things about this dinner was their basket of bread they bring out for you,the greatest rolled up breadsticks delicious and also tons of awesome garlic bread, could hardly stop eating it. We did enjoy the Ferrari Carano Merlot at a reasonable price. Our waiter Christopher was most helpful and attentive and took care of all of our needs. The atmosphere in there is very beautiful an Italian and if you look up at the ceiling it's dark black with little stars that light up with awesome lights, that was very impressive for our dinner. We had the house special for an appetizer and wished I had gotten it for my meal - the mushroom ravioli. The sauce is like silk. It is superb. I did have the scallops and risotto. Not an amazing presentation but the scallops were delicate, melt-in-your-mouth in texture...just perfectly cooked. We had a large table and everyone loved their choice. The one star is for the waitress Esmeralda who was absolutely amazing and tried everything to make it all better. Unfortunately, it was totally out of her control cause she is a server and not the chef. After camping for 9 days I was super excited to finally have what I thought would be a spectacular meal. First I ordered the calamari and fried artichokes. They were both bland and flavorless. The sauces were disgusting and when I asked for tarter and ranch just to make the food palatable I was told they didn't have them?!?!? When I asked for vinegar (for the calamari) they gave me balsamic..........at that point I gave up and just left the food for dead. My main course was the veal parmigiana . The meat was paper thin with once again the nastiest marinara and some form of potatoes that wasn't recognizable or edible. When I am was asked how the food was I couldn't hide the fact that I was very disappointed. Esmeralda asked if I wanted to talk to management and I said no cause honestly I wanted to just get onto the next place to eat. I'm so glad I got a chance to finally check out La Strada! My dining experience was so amazing. La Strada is located inside El Dorado casino (next to Silver Legacy & Circus Circus). As soon as you walk in, customers will notice the great decor and atmosphere inside. You are greeted by everyone while you walk to your table. We were given menus right away. Our server also came by immediately to introduce himself and tell us all the specials. There were so many delicious sounding dishes to choose from. I decided to go with the Ceasar salad & Parppardella Bolognese. After we ordered, we were given a bread basket. This bread basket was filled with warm slices of garlic bread! The garlic bread was very tasty, too. Our Ceasar salad came out next. I loved how the salad was not drenched with the dressing. There were thin slices of Parmesan cheese mixed with the lettuce. I would definitely order this again. My Parppardella Bolognese came out after a few minutes. The portion size was definitely huge! The Parppardella was cooked to perfection, and the noodles was nice and chewy. The Bolognese sauce had a lot of meat and flavor. I really enjoyed this dish. Overall, La Strada is a great place for amazing Italian food. Its great how they treat all their customers very special. The customer service is really good here. Grilled octopus: could have skipped it. Octopus is hard to get right. I love grilled Mediterranean style octopus, but this had a slightly slimy layer and a bit rubbery. Seemed to be precooked and then grilled. Sea scallops with risotto, beet dust and uni. Scallops perfect. Risotto slightly undercooked but still wonderful flavor. Little bites of uni took this over the top. Uni is such a unique flavor. Husband had Chicken Parmi. I don't know why he orders that in a high-end Italian place. It was okay. The veal dishes next to us looked amazing, as did the tasting menu. If we went back, I'd probably do the tasting menu with wine compliment. Stellar service. read more

One of the high-end spots in "The Row." It's very good. We had tasty salads; an excellent and hefty dish with pasta shells, peas and prosciutto in a cream sauce; and a half-chicken cooked under a brick and slathered in delicious gravy. No room for dessert. The bread service was a nice surprise - breadsticks, several slices of olive bread, and pretty much an entire loaf of fresh-made garlic bread. If you're a wine drinker there's an impressive selection, much of it on open display in the dining room. The service was sharp and fast. Not sure what all the hype is about. Dinner on a Friday night for 2 and service was very poor, food was ok. I love Italian food - love it! This was not great .... maybe the chef was having an off night? Maybe they were busy and that is why our waiter kept disappearing? I like to give places the benefit of the doubt. It's hard when it's known to be upscale and not inexpensive. Fettuccine Alfredo and ministrone - both ok but we certainly did not have the same experience as others reviewing. The entree, the appetizer, the cocktails, the server and his assistant (Jack and Cameron) were amazing! The meal itself was possibly (don't tell my nana) the best Italian meal I've ever had. Dessert however was as disappointing as everything before was great. I made a 3 hour trip and rented a hotel room specifically to try the cannoli unfortunately I think the cannoli was having a bad night. The ricotta was chunky, watery and sour. We had two waiters which was a little overbearing but nice at times. Café Diablo- Coffee was very good, extravagant. cinnamon, whipped cream, etc. Caesar salad- Somewhat boring, but nothing wrong with it necessarily. minestrone soup- adequate, puréed, but I do prefer chunkier. So to each his own. Fettuccine Alfredo- one word: ok. I've had much better at places that aren't Italian so this place should have its pasta be on top! Salmon(fish of the day)- Very nice. Went to dinner here because everyone seemed to really like it.....it was ok but not somewhere I want to go back when there are so many places to visit in Reno. First of all the decor needs a refresh, but it wasn't horrible, just kind of dark but lacking personality. Our server seemed distracted and had to come back for my wine order twice because he forgot what he ordered. We started with the Caprese salad and it was not good. The tomatoes were not ripe enough and it was missing something. It wasn't disgusting but it just didn't have a great taste. I ordered the Mushroom Ravioli and it was very good as everyone has commented on. It tasted fresh and it was very flavorful. My husband ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and only ate half of it, we both kind of bleh. It took a long time to get our entrees and our waiter kept disappearing. The restaurant was not overly crowded so we can't figure out why it took over 40 minutes to get our meal. Overall probably not someplace we will go back to unless there is a change.....sorry we really wanted to like it. read more

Went there for happy hour and dinner. The calamari which was outstanding! For dinner we had ravioli and the fish. The ravioli was great but the fish was the reason you have three stars. The fish was over cooked and old since bass should not be fishy tasting! I would have given two stars but the service raised it to three. I will be back but only for the happy hour food. read more

Last night my husband and I dined at La Strada in Reno. We were celebrating our 51st Wedding anniversary. The food was very good; the service was great. Why I only gave it three stars is that we were asked when booking if we were celebrating an occasion. I indicated it was our anniversary. When we were seated I mentioned to the hostess and to the waiter it was our anniversary. If La Strada is such a 5 star restaurant would you not think we might have gotten a dessert in honor of our anniversary or at least an acknowledgement of the occasion before I mentioned it. No dessert; no special attention to the occasion. Why did they even bother to ask if we were dining because of a special occasion. In every other restaurant in any city that we went out on our anniversary, we were gifted with a dessert and even a decorated plate to honor the occasion. If this restaurant wants to compare themselves to other nicer restaurants, they need to do more customer appreciation. read more

This restaurant is absolutely gorgeous with it's twinkling stars ceiling and it's just a great and romantic environment. If you want somewhere fancy to dine at, this restaurant has that fancy feel! Our waitor was absolutely great! They brought us out a basket of bread and OMG the bread was dipped in garlic butter and it was so delicious! I probably could have just eaten the bread and be super satisfied! The other food was terrible for the price. The risottos that we ordered were all extremely salty. I was expecting more from a high end restaurant but I was very disappointed. They comped us dessert to try to make up for the food so that was a really nice gesture. Creme brûlée was delicious. Where to begin with this most disappointing of all dining experiences. Reservation made months ago for much anticipated event: my husband's birthday dinner followed by concert. The restaurant mgr/wine expert, Gary, gave our group wonderful recommendations on wine, promising start. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. Antonio, our server, failed completely to provide timely or efficient service to our table. At numerous and various points during our meal we were forced to flag down other servers to help us, it was increasingly frustrating. No mention of a bday was ever made, even though I called the night before and asked them to acknowledge it. I was assured it was noted in my reservation. Finally, two hours and several hundred dollars later, we asked to see the dessert menu and instead got our check, plopped down on our table in an almost rude manner. To add even more insult, it took Antonio THREE times, count it, THREE attempts, to get our check correct. And, we had to return to the restaurant yet again with questions about multiple charges on my friend's credit card which had alerted him to strange activity. While the food was fine, sadly it was overwhelmed by the inept service. This completely ruined what should have been a wonderful dinner. I will NEVER dine here again. To cap it off, I phoned Gary the next night to talk with him about our experience and they said he was in a staff meeting and took my name & number.
