Came here for Valentines Day and left with a $200 bill and still hungry. I think the worst part was that the food came out cold. They had a prix fixe menu for $75 pp, an appetizer, entree and dessert. I got the scallop to start and it was cold and whatever breading was on the outside was mushy and fell right off. For the entree we both got the filet and it made me so sad at how small and cold it was. Now I can do a small steak if it tastes good but all I could taste was chocolate the whole time. For dessert I got the crime brûlée and it didn't have the sugar top, it was like a pudding cup with fruit. we waited nearly 20 minutes for our dessert to come out and reminded the waiter AND manager. We watched the two tables who sat after us pay and leave before we got our dessert. Then we waited a good 10 minutes for valet to get our car. Poor guys had to run up and down the street in dress shoes. Tonight, my husband surprised me with a do-over steak, asparagus, and a dollop of mashed potatoes for $40 total and tasted way better. The inside is appointed with an odd combination of French mixed with Italian but pleasant nonetheless. The menu is small, yet there are options available for a variety of diets. Perhaps you would have a different experience if you are a regular here as known guests received a different level of service. Nightly chef inspired specials feature local/seasonal ingredients. Staples on the menu are a French/Italian combination. Appetizers (especially salads) are not very sharable. For the price point per plate, I would have expected higher-quality service, larger portion size or items I can't make at home. Great food, great location and ambiance in historic downtown Long Beach. My wife and I were in town and went to La Traviata for dinner. We felt very taken care of and special as we sat down for an amazing dinner. The food was delicious from the Charcuterie Board to the Linguini Mare and the La Traviata Sea Bass. The Sea Bass was the most perfect and generous cut we've ever had. I also loved the Opus drink from the bar - which is the perfect spot for after-dinner drinks while enjoying the neighborhood views of the historic church and community outside. First off I just love the atmosphere here. It's like going back in time and the music is always a perfect match. Ok but I got their chocolate gelato and the bartender paired it with a rich glass of red vino. OMG it was divine! Found this gem in Long Beach while staying in the area for a staycation. The quality of food was excellent and the ambiance was lovely even though we were sitting outside on the sidewalk due to Covid restrictions. I would give this restaurant zero stars if I could. The one redeeming quality was the service. Our server was phenomenal and so gracious. I an not joking when I say the food here is inedible. I started with the Lobster bisque soup and it tasted like boiled sea water. My filet minion was disgusting and had no flavor and an odd texture, potatoes were cold instant mash potatoes (you could taste the graininess) and the asparagus was literally raw with no seasoning. Multiple people in our party sent our food back multiple times and two of us, including me, didn't end up eating meals at all. I am not picky with my food whatsoever. I will even eat mediocre food without complaint, but this was not even mediocre. The meal was a set Menu and was $105 person. I have no problems paying good money for a lovely meal, but this meal tasted like it should have costed $5. I literally felt like I was the in the twilight zone lol I have never experienced anything like this. I am urging them to get a new chef. The restaurant has such potential with a beautiful ambiance and such great service. Thankfully, the manager made it right in the end. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I feel like I have to worn people about this place especially because of the price point. Came here with a friend and had a great dinner. I didn't realize there was live entertainment until I met the pianist at the bar! He was so friendly and even took a request. The bartender (I can't remember his name but he was an Asian man) was super friendly and made great drinks! Had the calamari to start, followed by the lobster ravioli. Both were amazing and the calamari was crisp and fried to perfection. The lobster cream sauce was delectable and rich, just what I was craving. Our waitress was so attentive and so patient with us choosing what we wanted to eat. We ordered the brussel sprouts which were cooked to perfection and seasoned very well - the dish is a little spicy if you are sensitive to spice. I ordered the dinner special because the whole fish and the two sides were such a steal!! The fish was cooked perfectly and the top part was so crispy and delicious. My boyfriend ordered the fettuccine di Mario and it was delicious! I do wish the cilantro-jalapeño cream sauce was a little spicy, but otherwise, the pasta was perfectly cooked and the whole dish went together so well! The two desserts were really good. I'm a chocolate lover but the coppa pistachio was actually my favorite because it was a little more unique than the chocolate mousse cake. Both desserts were so rich and the perfect end to the meal. The servers were friendly and all smiles. I tried so many of their appetizers and they were all winners, crab cakes, mozzarella, and their best ahi tuna! Their salmon portion was huge and so well cooked. I was in heaven every minute of that meal. Their tiramisu dessert was a nice size portion and so moist. The only complaint I had was the alcohol was on the light side. I had 4 drinks and I felt nothing. When the alcohol is good, I am out by the second drink, here I would have had to drink an additional 4 just to get a buzz. They have valet for $5. I think I might come back for that ahi tuna!!! I have always walked by this place since moving to Long Beach and finally got around to trying it. Excellent Italian food! Everything from food to service is great here. My party had gotten a reservation, though I'm not entirely sure if it would always be necessary, but better to be safe than sorry. I ended up getting linguine and clams in a red sauce which wasn't on the menu, but they do mention that they can try to accommodate your favorite pasta if possible. It ended up being fantastic and exactly what I had hoped for. The waitresses here are super attentive and the manager stopped by to check on us as well. Mazi was very attentive and constantly checked on me to make sure I was okay and helped me make my decision on what to order, I went with the sausage Alfredo and when it came it was nice and hot and fresh! The pasta noodles taste as if they make them fresh from scratch in house, the sauce & sausage were amazing. I dipped the bread in the sauce and almost had a heart attack because it was so delicious. Fantastica! I have to hand it to Mario who despite the ups and downs of business and pandemics, keeps a most classy, warm inviting, fabulous and delicious restaurant going. I attended a Chic dinner last night and had the most wonderful experience with my former group. Staff was welcoming leading me to the private back room where about 20 of our group was congregated. service was great, attentive and they were happy to have separate bills. Now how often do you have a large group and they allow you separate bills?!? Food? i started with a caesar salad, dinner size and style complete with anchovies. Fresh and great starter, followed by some fried calamari in a generous portion, very fresh tasting with a marinara dipping sauce. So far so good but the entree, Chilean sea bass, perfectly cooked complimented with fresh garden veggies and creamy mashed potatoes. The fish was amazingly delicious and worth coming for. We were allowed party favors and entertainment provided by our group including the jello shots given after you took the CD test. Ha! The host pianest did three songs for us including an Elton John number followed by the show of the evening, an Elvis Presley impersonator delighting the crowd walking through all of Elvis best hits. Had an incredible date night here on a Friday night! Started with some well priced Prosecco, bread, and the Cesar salad. The salad was fresh so was the bread. However the real star were the entrées. My vegetable rotini with vodka sauce was prepared perfectly with some crispy vegetables and prosciutto. It all worked well together even when you might expect otherwise.
