Blah, I wish Terminal 5 had some better options. La Vie looked better than some of the other options and is located in JetBlue's terminal after you pass security. The food here is AOK/decent, as long as you're ready to overpay :). I didn't want to drop 20 dollars on a mediocre burger, so I was intrigued to try their french onion soup and I was so glad they had one on their menu. For $10, it was pretty satisfying. The onions were sweet and delicious and the melted cheese over the bread in the soup was a comforting delicious bowl of awesomeness. I would definitely recommend the onion gratin if you're a fan of french onion soup and looking for a little something to hold you over while you're in the terminal. read more

I'm giving it five stars to bring the average up. Pretty much as good "Italian" food. We're gonna find an airport close to Jamaica Queens. I had the rigatoni Bolognese, the salad with chicken breast, and a margarita pizza. Nothing tastes bad. it was honestly just as good as some of those hipster restaurants with Instagram videos. The airport can be a challenging place to find good food but La Vie is a great pick! They are a branch of a bigger restaurant located in the terminal so the menu is limited. The worker was a little rude when we didn't want to order an alcoholic beverage and said he didn't have a regular lemonade so we opted for water. The pizza was delicious though!! read more

Cold home fries, omelette was ok (not fresh ingredients), and they were out of good coffee. Don't use the scan thing to order because you won't know if they have their famous coffee or not when you order (it's prepay). What's the deal with airport food? Can't it be decent? This one in particular could be a gem of a restaurant if they cared about the customers instead of making money! I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. The waitress and she recognized me from the other restaurants in the JetBlue terminal which means they are owned by JFK or JetBlue so that explains the lack of quality at all of these airport pseudo eateries. I was working up an appetite getting my steps in so I ordered mussels. They were bland and flavorless even after I added salt and lemon. Waitress asked if I wanted to send them back but there wasn't anything else that was standing out. I ate them anyway and got the bill which was supposed to be 20% off if you use your JetBlue credit card. Well, it wasn't and the total was $25 including tax. She disappeared for a solid 10 minutes and I waited for her to come back. I was the only person there. I waited longer then when she finally appeared, I asked her to take off the 20%' which took an extra 15 minutes. She had to get the manager to adjust it. Honestly, it is a restaurant in an airport. Stick with french fries & alcohol & you will be fine. (The french fries are only OK) They have 7 drinks on the menu and of course not all of the ingredients to make the one I want! I have had much worse experiences eating at T5. La Vie is a little oasis away from the craziness of the food court at T5. A French bistro menu, good coffee and great service. I usually get the monte cristo for breakfast or croque monsieur for lunch. Yes I like how they do their ham and cheese. All their food is good. Real maple syrup. Dijon mustard. Fresh salad and fruit. You could forget you're at the airport. The waitress behind the counter hustles and has a great personality. There is service at the counter and a few tables. It's very popular, and for good reason. In a bid to try to get something to eat before a flight, I wandered closer to the center of the action at the hub of the gates to order a breakfast sandwich. Prices are what you might expect in an airport and if there's any shiny moment, it's the service from the gentleman behind the bar. When asked if he could serve up a spicy Bloody Mary, he replied that they use a mix and that he would try to spice it up. He was pleasant and entered my order straight away and promised it would be a few minutes before it was ready. As promised, he did spice up an otherwise uneventful drink while I waited for my breakfast and we both agreed that it least the vodka worked well. All told, the experience was decent with bonus points for giving good service and making a pretty good Sammy to go with a bagel with butter. You won't go wrong coming here, but it won't top your list of all time favorites either. A good experience and I wouldn't shy from coming back in the future. read more

Really impressed with the service and quality of food we had at La Vie while waiting for our departure. Our waitress was kind and greeted us with a smile, quick to give us our menus and offer her recommendations, and as we were pressed for time offered to package our entrees to go. I started with the farro and beet salad (refreshing with three different colored beets and balsamic drizzle) as well as the roasted salmon (perfectly cooked with a tomato and pine nut salsa mix served on lettuce and string beans). I had several food court options at Terminal 5 at JFK. I selected La Vie because it had highest Yelp score. What a mistake! The place was awful. I ordered the chicken sandwich for $17. It had stale bread, hardly any chicken, no sauce. Dreadful. The women next to us ordered the steak sandwich for $32! Her sandwich looked even worse than ours. She left the whole thing on her plate and said it was inedible. I also had ordered the 3 beet and farro salad which was delicious. If you go there, be careful what you order. The food comes out of a kitchen across the hall and so is not very hot. The manager was nice and took the sandwich off our bill. However, I won't be stopping there again. read more

I was an hour early, thought I would stop here. I ordered soup because this is an airport and we're all on a tight timetable. Soup took 25mins to come out and only after I asked where it was. Then I tried to order a drink but the server was out of the building for another 15mins. Long enough for me to wonder if I was going to have to pull a dine and dash because there was no one to pay. When she came back, I ordered the drink and the check. 5 minutes passed before she reached for the glass and I waved my credit card at her and said "and the check." Do you still want this? well first of all it's kinda overpriced. there's absolutely no reason any sane person should charge me five WHOLE hard earned dollars for a bagel that could've come out of a my easy bake oven. the texture is similar to my sisters yellow crocs. actually the crocs probably have more flavor. and can we talk about the women who appears to own the place that comes out of another store with my "food." we asked for toasted bagels with toppings such as butter and cream cheese. lady couldn't fulfill either of those requests. one bagel was toasted. we got crappy containers of only cream cheese on the side and we were expected to spread it ourselves. for an airport terminal restaurant this place is one of the better places to visit while awaiting a flight, we try to arrive at T5 early in order to make a stop here. the negatives are that it is quite small, the service from the central kitchen can be slow and you are paying airport premium prices. read more
