I use to go to this place after school while in high school. It's been 22+ years and the food is still amazing. The service is fast and very friendly, always coming back asking is everything ok. Food was very greasy. Ordered a plantain soup and you could see the yellow oil on the rim of the bowl. Not a good flavor. Very very busy during lunch. Get ready to wait, continue waiting, and then wait a little more. It's unfortunate but that's how it is. The food in my opinion not worth the wait or the bad service. Their waitress are super nice and are always interested in knowing about you, like they genuinely care. As far as food. First this first, 1.PAN CON BISTEC. This thing is D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S. This is one of my favorite Cuban food restaurants in town. They never fail to impress me with their quality plates and service. Today I had the bistec de pollo ( chicken breast steak ) with pure de malanga, and it was delicious!!! The chicken was well seasoned and juicy, which is not an easy thing to find when when eating out. The mashed malanga purée was very smooth and its consistency was on point; and of course very tasty. Finally tried this little restaurant in a hidden strip mall and glad I did. We placed an order to go, bisects empanizado rice and beans. First off, the steak is the size of a small dog seriously. I mean it went across the container and was sticking out on both ends. Breaded to perfection, gooey maduros and thick flavorful black beans. What a gem this little place. They must have about 8 tables or so but the service was great and the food even better. This restaurant is a hole in the wall, where you can barely walk, they don't take credit cards, no one speaks English and yet, I can do nothing but recommend this place to everyone. I love these hidden treasures in Hialeah (near my work) where I can satisfy my fix for Cuban coffee and breakfast. I have been going here for a few years. I usually come here for breakfast in the early mornings before work. Let me run you through the typical experience: First, I drive in to the parking lot where I like to find a secluded spot since people park kind of crazier the larger the automobile in this lot. As I walk up to the door I notice the little supermarket and the check cashing store in the tiny mall. There are people at the walk up window and sitting at the counter inside but there usually is no one sitting at the tables that early (around 7:15). I sit at the table where there is a large metal water pitcher and a big bottle of some special sauce you can use for your food that resembles an olive oil with peppers in it. When I sit down I order some breakfast and some cuban coffee. I notice many people working behind the counter talking loudly to each other and watching news from telemundo on the tiny flat screen tv. I sit facing the door so I can people watch while I eat my food. The food is very good and inexpensive and served in pretty large amounts. Your eggs can be prepared any way and with vegetables and meats like chorizo, bacon mixed in. The sides are the usual french fries or hash browns. They offer omelettes, breakfast sandwiches like the pan con tortilla and other non egg options for breakfast. They also serve a mean croqueta preparada. The place slowly gets packed with customers getting some take-out or dining in. One time when I was eating with a friend we discussed the cuban coffee there and how there are many places scattered all throughout the city that have coffee but the quality is very different. Their cuban coffee is really good. It tends to be on the bitter side and really does not retain its taste if you let it sit for more than a couple of minutes. They sweeten it well, nothing too spectacular in flavor but it does pack a punch. I am going to rate the cuban coffee 3.5 tasitas (cups). This will be my 1-5 tasita rating scale for my cuban coffee reviews, LOL. I have to say that this place has inspired me and I really look forward to eating there. This was the breakfast spot I would go to back in my Pace days when I was living in Hialeah back in the day. I can almost taste their tostada if I close my eyes and transport back into time. It's right on the edge where Miami lakes meets Hialeah but the industrial feel of the area lets you know that you haven't passed that bridge just yet. Their steak is seasoned so well and has a lot of garlic. It's really tender and a good size. Their croquetas are also really good. One of my favorite dishes here are their chicken strips... wait, what? Really? *stops reading review* But, no. These chicken strips come in a huuuuge portion and are sooo good with a lot of lime on them. They're pretty much just smaller pieces of pollo empanizado. This review is by an out-of-towner and is based solely on 1 breakfast which I just ordered and ate. The cuban toast was perfect and buttery, the eggs were scrambled exactly to my liking, the fries I didn't really need but ate each one of them anyway, and the milky, sugary, hot cuban coffee was just what I needed. And all this for just $3.90! What a way to start off my lucky Friday the 13th just right. The place is home-y, a flurry of activity behind the counter and in the "kitchen", a walk up ordering station is perfect for a quick sandwich which I was eyeing and will definitely be going back for at lunch time. And if you're feeling weird about the neighborhood because you're not familiar with Miami, I was happy to see 3 law enforcement officers enjoying empanadas and coffee at the bar...I also knew I could speed back to work since the cops were obviously busy. ;-) read more

We ordered platano soup, vaca frita with boiled yuca, en la plancha (grilled grouper) with tostones with garlic sauce all with rice and beans and closed with cortadito (Cuban coffee). Honestly I can't remember the last time I had a meal where EVERYTHING was good. For me the grouper and boiled yuca were the best but it was all PERFECT. Haven't been here since high school and I don't know why. I love this place so much. The palomilla is outstanding! It's juicy, tender and perfect. One of the best I've had. The maraquitas are not as good as Romeus, but they're still delicious. Romeus makes theirs thinner which is what I like. Vina Aragon makes theirs a little thicker, but it's just a matter of preference. I actually think Vina Aragon makes a better garlic sauce for the maraquitas. It's filled with minced garlic you can scoop out from the bottom. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water beyond belief. I recently had their Pan con Vaca Frita and it was so freaking delicious. The perfect sandwich. I definitely need to go back more often. It's a very small establishment. They don't have very many tables so try and go during off hours.
