Vaca Frita topped with fried onions and garlic.
    Pedro S.

This no frills dive of a Cuban restaurant in Hialeah has a truly talented cooking staff turning out the classic Cuban dishes with consistent quality. Order the Vaca Frita (fried flank steak) with fried onions, the shrimp enchilada, or the Ropa Vieja as great initial choices. If you want a sandwich, you can't go wrong with the Pan con bistec (steak sandwich), or Cubano. The portions here are larger than most places. If you order to-go, they do a great job of packing the dishes separately and giving you buttered toasted bread with each entree in a bag. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall with some parking. It's an older restaurant that has seen a lot of volume. I like that they open at 5 AM and do the early morning Ventanita Service.

Taken at 3:45pm on Saturday. Several hours before closing

Showed up around 3:30pm on Saturday. The restaurant was almost full but the door was closed with the closed sign on. They closed several hours early because they just felt like it. Very unprofessionally. Several people tried to go in but no one opened even just to give an explanation. Avoid this place

    Perfect Cuban sandwich

If you want to have a perfect Cuban sandwich, then come here. This is a no frills, no fancy decor, mom and pop local old school, old style Cuban hole in the wall. I tried their Cuban sandwich and it was authentic and just what the doctor ordered. They only accept cash. I will be back with my Cuban husband to no doubt sample some other Cuban delights.

One of the few cuban restaurants that still give out free bread! Delicious at that! Heads up, CASH ONLY. Prices are great in comparison to similar restaurants. Chicharrones are an absolute must, so delicious! We got the bistec empanizado and pollo empanizado. Good spot for typical cuban food.

My husband and I went here yesterday for his birthday lunch and it was outstanding. Definitely some of the best Cuban I have had besides my mother's house! Highly recommend the vaca frita!

I eat at this place almost every week, and the food is awesome. Seasoned to perfection, whomever the cook has to be someone's abuela.

My opinion, don't hate me cause I'm going against the grain here. The place itself is great. The covered patio seating area in the rear is wonderful. The service was good. The food...eh. At least my plate (Bistec En Palomilla) did not live up to the reputation. It wasn't flavorful and it definitely wasn't accompanied by enough onions...c'mon it should be drowning in onions. The mojitos on the other hand were excellent. From a price point perspective it's good as well. Will I go back?? No, I wouldn't.

I had the enchilada de camaron and it was just like I remember it from my childhood. So flavorful and a big portion of shrimps. There's parking behind the restaurant but the spaces are a little tight. The inside is spacious with lots of seating and great for large parties. Everything was great except for the service. He was not attentive whatsoever, was just standing around talking to the other waiters instead of checking on our table. We had to call him over a few times for things we needed because he would not pass by our table unless we called him over. This is a great restaurant for Cuban food and I always recommend it to people. It's a shame the customer service is lacking.

Having had a quick workday lunch and walked around the mall, I had worked up an appetite. I was seated in a corner table for two and my order was taken. The restaurant did not seem that crowded even for a Friday night but it felt like a long wait. Unlike many Cuban places, they don't offer complimentary bread. I ordered their "platanos a tentacion" (bacon wrapped sweet plantains), grilled chicken and moros. The rice was a little hard and the chicken breast on the small side and barely seasoned other than the onions garnishing it. Service didn't feel very attentive for me as a solo diner. Between finishing my dinner and waiting to order either dessert or cafecito, I also sat and waited until a waitress finally came by. At that point, I just got the coffee and my check. I don't believe I was offered a printed receipt, just the card terminal. I asked if the tip was included and pretty much in time when I was putting the usual tip (trying to be generous with 20 percent) I was told that it was a service charge, and that the tip was extra, but had full amounts starting with 18%. So basically I paid 30% tip for a small portion of food and inattentive service. Looking back, I see that this restaurant had a different name and I had enjoyed dinner at their other location six years back. It's disappointing to see how it has fallen off. As it were, a lot of the original creative items on the menu are no longer being offered.
