Veneto Trattoria has become one of our regular favorites. My wife and I dine here about every three weeks--sometimes more--and it's one of the first places we bring friends when they're in town. We've been there often enough to know which dishes truly stand out, and that kind of familiarity says a lot. The veal Saltimbocca special is a top pick. The veal is always tender and the portion is just right--satisfying without being excessive. Another favorite is the tagliolini special with shrimp and artichokes in a garlic sauce. The Branzino, filleted tableside, is also an excellent choice. The meatball appetizer is a standout and absolutely worth ordering. Their eggplant parm is decent, though some dishes shine more than others. If there's no special that speaks to you that night, the veal Pizzaiola and brick chicken are both solid choices. The vegetables served with entrees are consistently excellent. I'd recommend the side pasta over the mashed potatoes, which are the one weak spot for me. Their bottle of Gavi at $43 is a terrific value, and they're also one of the few restaurants left that still brings generous complimentary bread before the meal. Most of all, we always leave talking about how good the meal was for days afterward. Warm staff, a welcoming owner, and the kind of place you're happy to keep returning to. read more

Went to Veneto Trattoria for the first time on Valentine's Day and tried their 3-course dinner. Unlike most coursed meals there were still options which we appreciated! The restaurant gives off a very authentic Italian feel, and the service was great! We started with the caprese and Gnocchi. The gnocchi was cooked perfect in the four cheese sauce, I wish I had a huge bowl of these to eat! We both loved the canelli, which was homemade pasta filled with veal and baked in the best red sauce. My favorite was the lobster served with large handmade ribbon pasta in a light lobster sauce, I was so happy with all of the food we had! read more

What a lovely surprise this was. I have driven by this strip mall for years, but had not stopped in to try Veneto Trattoria until last night. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot which is shared with Houston's and the rest of the strip mall. We were early - we had missed lunch -so we arrived around 5:30pm with no reservation and we were able to get seated without a reservation. This is the perfect time of year to enjoy their outdoor seating. They have plenty of heat lamps if it gets a little cool. Shortly after being seated our server, Wanda, was over to tell us about specials and to take our drink order. They have a lovely fair priced wine list and I chose a nice wine for $12.50 a glass. Even their bottle prices are affordable. For dinner I asked Wanda for her opinion of the dishes I was thinking of, and she said the Milanese di Pollo was amazing so I ordered it. It is a version of Chicken Parm without cheese and it was so delicious. A little crispy on the outside and perfectly done on the inside. This is my new favorite dish! The red sauce was a nice accompaniment, but did not over power the dish. My dinner mate ordered the Scaloppine Special and ate every last bite. This is a wonderful authentic Italian restaurant that I will return to,but I think we got lucky this time and next time I will make a reservation. read more

Ville piccata! Ville piccata! Ville piccata! I can't say enough about the veal piccata here! I just finished getting my hair done and was looking for a good meal. Then it dawned on me. I had some of the best veal piccata that I've ever had in my life at this place! I sat at the bar as usual and Felix the bartender was absolutely amazing! Anyway, I love love, love love, love the veal piccata here! Felix told me that the head chef had the day off, so the second chef in charge made the veal piccata! Baby, it was orgasmic! Food, service and ambience is great! They are consistent with their food. They don't rush you. Best lasagna, best lemon pasta when in season. Only negative is sometimes you have to ask for bread and if you do, don't ask anyone but your waiter. We mistakenly asked the "buslady" and she pointed to our waiter. This was my first time trying Veneto and the atmosphere felt like I was in a little part of Italy. A lot of pictures on the wall and statues you one came from Italy. We had the meatball to start which was amazing and pruchitta was great to. I had the chicken and the lasagna. The lasagna wasn't that flavorful but still good to me. Last Thursday we were looking for a nice dinner before a performance at Phoenix Theater. My husband searched and found Veneto Trattoria. Since it was 5:00pm we didn't have a reservation but when we arrived it was like coming into a friend's home. The smells, the smiles and the welcoming atmosphere told us we found a treasure. As more guests arrived we witnessed hugs and greetings like I see when family arrives at our home. Then, the food arrived and we were transported to our time in Italy and the freshness in every bite. I had fish of the day and my husband ordered orecchiette with sausage and broccoli. Sooo delish! We will be back soon. read more

My wife and I came across this place while looking for spaghetti for my two daughters. They squeezed us in and even though kids spaghetti wasn't on the menu they offered to make it happen for us. (Sign of true Italians.. "We make special for you!") Staff was very kind and attentive, the patio and interior were full of wonderful characters and the overall atmosphere was very charming. Food was on point and the menu was surprisingly priced well and a good value. I really enjoyed it and even though they obviously cater to an older crowd, my kids insisted that this place was 100 out of 100. Recommendation: I would keep the kids on the patio but friends and date night inside for cozy cocktails and more intimate conversations. Dress is dressy / respectfully casual. We went there with high hopes after seeing the positive reviews. The service was good but the food was very disappointing. It looks like we may have ordered the items on the menu that are dismal as I saw similar reviews on Google about their lasagna. Two big sheets of pasta slapped together with sauce, barely any meat and topped with sauce and cheese, served in a skillet- basically no layers and no meat. The chain restaurants and frozen lasagna I had definitely tasted better. The osso Bucco Milanese was the inexpensive cut of beef shank, not veal and the risotto was watery and not creamy. Brown watery liquid, not even sauce from the osso Bucco mixed with improperly cooked risotto. All for over $100+ with a glass of wine with salad and a side pasta with olive oil and garlic. Though the best dish was the side pasta, which was cooked correctly al dente. read more

We did not call to make a reservation so we got the small table right next to the bar that someone were sitting there. The food here is tasty and not too salty (I like it!). I got fettuccine with duck ragu sauce. The duck sauce is mild with a little bit of duck meat but it is delicious and goes well with the perfectly cooked fettuccine. We got tiramisu to go and this tiramisu is so delicious. I love the sauces on top. I enjoy this dessert and want to get some more. read more

we brought our family there for dinner tonight, including our three year old grandchild. the restaurant has no chidlren's menu. How hard is it to put a few small pasta items and small meatballs on a separate menu for children? Our granddaughter has a short fuse and somehting set her off. Our son in law was just standing up to take her away for a few minutes when the owner came over and insisted that he do so. When our son in law returned a few minutes later the owner told him that he was a bad parent. We left. We have been going there for many years but i think it will be a long time before we return. On ambiance alone it would get 4.5. I went on a Saturday afternoon which got busier and busier as time went by. Ordered a large pizza with several toppings along with cannolis for desert. No complaints, was it outstanding no, but it was good yes. I may go back to try their lasagna or other dish to make a final decision on whether this place keeps the 4 star. The server was nice but was absent for a long spell and I had to stop a different waiter to go fetch him. Then after we requested 2 cannolis we only got one. Nice service however the kitchen was in the weeds and the entrees were not well executed. The bread service was amazing- light and crispy Italian bread slices plus fingers of focaccia served with a whipped garlic butter that was not too strong - just enough garlic and the butter was perfectly salted and well whipped. It went a bit down in quality after that. The sausages with braised savoy cabbage were nearly inedible they were so salty - and I have been accused of being heavy handed with salt! The veal parmigiana had a solid block of cheese on top - as if they forgot to put it under the salamander (broiler) before service. Not sure we will return. read more

Just moved to Phoenix and came in night before Fiesta Bowl and needed a place to have New Years Eve dinner. Was struggling to find a place for 7 that was good. Got lucky unfortunately no luck withthe refs at the Fiesta Bowl and scored a table here. Set Menu, pricey but what do you expect for New Years Eve in Scottsdale. Food and service was great and owner was fun and generous giving us some free Limoncello as GA beat OSU. We still should have stomped the and won 9 out of 10 times over them Frogs but alas next year. read more

Neighbors invited me to join them for a special Monday night dinner of Dover sole, served table side. The fish was delicious and the showmanship of the presentation made it really fun. A very nice wine list and a thoughtfully curated array of sides added to the enjoyment. One of our party had saved room for the flourless chocolate dessert. It looked amazing! We originally had a reservation for our anniversary. Upon arrival the restaurant was in the middle of the fire alarm going off. Then they closed the restaurant. The short story is we found Veneto Trattoria 5:45pm on a Thursday. I explain what happened to the hostess who took very good care of us as well as the waiter. For starters, a basket of warm, dense bread. My husband chose a mixture of seafood with homemade pasta & a delicious sauce. I asked if they would make veal piccata - YES. Not many restaurants will make it. delicious. Served with mashed potatoes, spinach & capers. The place was packed inside and out by the time we left. My mom and I were unsure where we wanted to eat (we are very indecisive lol), so we drove to Oliver's which had zero parking, so then we went to another Italian place which was closed, tried to go to Houston's, but it had too long of a wait.. which is when we found Veneto Trattoria! We were warmly welcomed and sat quickly at the bar where we met Felix - what a freaking guy! Super fun to talk to, great service, and recommended some excellent dishes. I have known about this spot for years, but had never made it in. Well friends, I have been MISSING OUT! This local Italian gem is absolutely incredible (you know it's authentic when the servers are speaking to each other in Italian)! We sat at the bar because they were very busy on a Saturday (definitely make a reservation) and had the best experience! Everything we ate from the bread basket and simple (but oh so flavorful) salad, to the homemade pasta and entrees, my husband and I were in foodie heaven! We are already dreaming about our next date night here. I highly recommend sitting at the bar, chatting with their super friendly veteran bartender, and enjoying delicious eats.
