    Brazilian chicken soup
    Alex D.

It's the fast food of soup & salads! If you ever find yourself in the Embarcadero hungry and cold, do yourself a favor and come visit LADLE & LEAF. That is exactly what happened to me, and man was I thankful for finding this Gem. I ordered the Brazilian chicken soup, it was so good. Shredded chicken, yuka and other stuff chilling in a rich and creamy coconut broth. It was so good. It also comes with fresh sourdough bread. I would definitely come back and take a look at other items on the menu. Be aware parking is atrocious.

There was nothing on the board that said this was a TOMATO Based soup. GROSS I would have never ordered it. I feel taken advantage of

I went here today because its very close to the job and I'm busy. Don't follow the ingredients on the board - they aren't correct. I ordered (this is the board description): "GRILLED CHICKEN & RAINBOW CHARD: Grilled chicken, flageolet beans, rainbow chard, carrots & white wine with shredded Parmigiano Reggiano & croutons." Imagine my surprise when I got back to the office and found I had purchased a TOMATO BASED SOUP. I HATE TOMATO. Why did they not list that on the board since that's a MAIN ingredient? It even has TOMATO PIECES CUT UP TOO. YUCK!!!

Sometimes looking for a good breakfast in the Financial District that isn't overpriced can be a challenge, but this place has it all! The set up of the business is very nice, welcoming, and super clean! The people that work here are extremely pleasant, greeting you with a smile and friendly convo throughout the conversation. They do have meat free options and I highly recommend the Veggie Cheddar Burrito! It's delicious!

    Customized salad for pickup

I usually order online while I am working so that I can quickly go pick it up. It is always ready on time, and quickly. I customized my own salad and it is very reasonably priced for the amount they give you. Their dressings are really good.

Tidy interior. Aligned with their motto. Well done.

The truth is I have never been into a Ladle & Leaf before. I liked the large choice of healthy food. Interior is also nice, fresh and clean. So I went for the Korean Chicken Salad out of curiosity. Luckily I came after the rush hour because my salad took a long time to be prepared. Obviously the man didn't knew which ingredients composed my salad and had to regularly check his notes. For the rest everything went fine. The salad was fresh and tasty, I had a Bai pomegranate infusion as drink. For a first time with Ladle & Leaf, I can say I was happy with the experience and will be returning if I'm in a mood for a salad or a soup.

I got a chipotle chicken half salad, and I am just appaled by the lengths this place goes to cheat its customers. This is my 3rd time getting a salad and my experience has always been the same. The half salad costs $10.92 (including tax) which I don't mind. What I do mind, however, is the servers here don't even fill up the serving spoons for all the ingredients. They put less than half of each spoonful. The tortilla chips in my salad are less than 4. And the servers drop part of the salad carelessly while transferring it to a box. You can see the quantity and the empty spaces in my salad box. It is okay if you charge almost $11 for your salad, but atleast be honest about the quantity and your service. Don't try to cut costs by giving less than the customer paid for. Very bad value for money, and I am not going here again

What a disappointment the oatmeal was. It was not hot nor was it steel cut. What a mushy mess. Avoid this option. Never tried their other items so not sure this place is a total loss

$10 for a small cup of soup that didn't taste as good as a can of campbells. How is this place in business?!??

Today me and my wife stopped in for lunch as we have a few times before. It was a warm day in the Bay Area today and we were out walking so I wore a nice sleeveless shirt. It was nice, new and clean. The hostess asked me to cover my shoulders but I said I didn't have anything with me. She sent the manager over. The manager told me no sleeveless shirts for men are allowed in her restaurant. Mind you this is lunch. Not dinner. This is not a super fancy place. Me and my wife were both properly and nicely dressed. I politely told her that I identify as a woman. She said it didn't matter. I said so you misspoke a moment ago and male or female cannot wear sleeveless shirts? She said correct. I looked around and there was a woman behind us wearing a sleeveless shirt. Not nearly as nice as mine or dressed as nice as me. I said ok I will wait here while you turn her away too. The manager then became very rude and said she isn't going to serve me no matter what. I told her are you sure about this and she said yes and asked me to leave. How embarrassing. I have never been turned away from any establishment in my life. Is this not discremenation due to my gender? Businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone unless it is for race, gender or age. I will be contacting an attorney this week. This is not ok. This is not right and I will stand up for my rights and the rights of others.

If you haven't tried their gluten-free pizza, I recommend giving it a shot. It is a "Detroit-style" crust and it is amazing (if you like that sort of thing). It's a mix of crunch and airiness. It's the closest thing to Portland's Boxcar Pizza, and IMHO is the best pizza in the Bay Area. Service is always good, and tonight Jordan took care of us and he did a fine job. It's a great place for a casual date or to bring the family. The place is clean, there's a chatty energy, and it seems a place where everyone is welcome.

CORN RIBLETS! 4.3…read more North Beach, a happy, vibrant neighborhood, sits in a hilly pocket of sunshine in San Francisco. During our weekend stay, we ventured out in search of pizza. In North Beach, aka "Little Italy," pizza spots abound. We decided to give Flour + Water a try and made reservations ahead of our visit. The restaurant was bustling, lively, and packed with patrons. We ordered: Corn Riblets ~ crema, ricotta salata, cilantro, Calabrian chili. This is corn-kernel crack! Hawaiian Pizza ~ capicola, pineapple, fresh mozzarella, pickled Fresno, chili crisp. A playful twist on the traditional pineapple pizza, with the addition of Fresno chiles, which bring a fruity, smoky flavor. I especially loved the texture of the mildly spicy chili crisp. A few things that make their pizzas special: * The dough: They use naturally leavened dough made from locally sourced organic wheat. The wild yeast and beneficial bacteria ferment for at least three days, creating a crust that is light, airy, and easier to digest. * The layering process: First, a little aged Parmesan is sprinkled over the flattened dough, followed by a layer of sauce, then the toppings and cheese. The dough was good. I could taste a little more salt in their crust compared with some other pizzerias, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It definitely enhances a pizza with lighter toppings. Service was good and efficient. As busy as they were, there wasn't much opportunity for chitchat, but everything moved along smoothly. We scored a good pizza, but even better was the discovery of the corn riblets. Those alone are worth a return visit! We'll definitely be back!

It's clean, spacious, and service is fast. For me, it's a perfect stop for lunch while walking down the wharf area. Of course with how big they've gotten, there's plenty of branded merch if you're looking for some souvenirs. The cons, no on-site restrooms available if you're doing café or casual dining. They direct you outside to the not so clean public restrooms. If you park behind the building, they'll validate parking for 1 hour. For food/drinks, they have a café, fast casual open-seating, and also an upstairs restaurant dining area. We opted for the fast casual for multiple visits here. Ordering is easy in person. Staff is helpful if you're not sure what to get. Other than that, they're fine, don't expect exceptional service. We tried their clam chowder, crab chowder, beef dip and also their pizza over the course of the weekend. Price is what you'd pretty much expect around the area For two of us, I think the perfect items are to share a clam chowder and a beef dip. The chowder is creamy and has a unique flavor that we enjoy. The beef dip while simple, is delicious. The bread really absorbs the au jus so it's not dry at all. You have to get the chowder in a bread bowl. While at some point, there's only so much sourdough you can eat, it's really how you should eat chowder isn't it? We'll pass on the crab chowder in the future. The flavors just didn't hit right with us. The spiciness was off and it just wasn't our favorite dish. The pizza is good, seeing more and more places do the hot honey on pizza thing nowadays. It's good and a big portion. If there were more of us, it's a nice pizza to share. Overall, this is our favorite Boudin location to visit.
