    white rice and plantain

Nigerian here! I love trying new Nigerian restaurants so when I drove past Lagos Buka I knew I had to try it. I walked in and ordered. The food is served ala carte, with no wait as the food is already prepared. I appreciate this structure because many Nigerian restaurants I've been to feature a very long wait. In all fairness, I recognize not everyone will love the food being prepared, but in my opinion, the quality does not suffer from it. I paid nearly $49 and ordered Afang soup (not pictured) which came with a free swallow. I also ordered Iya's Desire (I'd never had anything like this before and wanted to try it) it came with white rice and I asked for plantain. Finally I ordered assorted meat stew-- for which I was charged double for wanting tripe and tendon. I thought it didn't make much sense but I still paid for it. The portion sizes were not bad, however the stews/ soups have a lot of oil but that tends to be the nature of Nigerian food. I loved everything I ate from here. I would recommend, and I would come back if I am in this area again.

Having never had Nigerian before, Tenyi M. was amazing about explaining each dish and its flavor profile. Before offering samples, she asked about any food allergies and what I liked. Everything I sampled was full of flavor but I decided on the Asun (spicy / peppered goat), Smokey Jollof Rice, and Zobo (hibiscus drink) . All items are à la carte. So glad I stepped out of my comfort zone today and tried the Nigerian / Naija cusine. Support local businesses like Lagos Buka!! 4031 FM 1463 #80, Katy, TX 77494 281-394-5244 lagosbuka.com

I came around 5pm and the selection of food was not good. I ordered Jollof rice and fried rice with assorted meat and goat meat. The meat I was given (goat) was all bones and the server even said it wasn't a good day. None of my food was hot or warm so I'm confused as to if I dined in would my food have been fresh or microwaved for me. Out of all the food I received the assorted meat was good in taste and so was the jollof rice. I could tell the fried rice was old and not made fresh at all. I did enjoy the taste of those 2 things but I had to go home and warm it to eat it because I attempt to eat it in my truck as soon as I got it.

I'm giving a 3 star because why in the world are you guys serving food that is not even warm. Serving food that is barley room temperature is wild to me. Everything is like buffet style so when you order you just pick from what is already there. I ordered asun which is spicy goat meat and it was flavorful and spicy, egusi soup was good too and I added tripe " they charge everything separately . The service also could have been better but I looked passed that part my only concern is the freshness of the food , if I wanted to eat my food there are you guys giving me cold food as well ? I seen other reviews say the same thing maybe you guys should work on getting better heat lamps .

To be fair I went here before and the food was better. I ordered Ayamase, Iya Desire Sauce, fried rice, with beef because that's all of the protein that was available at the time. These people charged me $77. It is insane the cost of food for lunch for two people. Food was cold and quality was worse than the time I was here last time. I hope they read this and realize that this is unacceptable. How do you buy designer stew for $12.49 and still pay for white rice $6.49? You call something Iya Desire sauce and charge someone $18.99 plus $6.49 for white rice again. If I went next door to the Vietnamese restaurant I could order 5 dishes and will not spend $77. If I go to Wazobia and the same rice you are charging $6.49, I'll get it for $1.50. How much is a bag of Rice self.

The exterior is just as beautifully decorated. It's clear that chef-owner Lori Pope poured a lot of time, heart, and soul into both the menu and the store's design. The hostess was super friendly. As soon as I walked in, she gave me a warm and smiling greeting. The menu was a feast for the eyes. It had a lot of lovely pictures of the different dishes. I was ecstatic to see that there were so many vegetarian and vegan friendly options. Also, most of the dishes can be requested to be made gluten-free. Big plus. You don't order at your table, instead you go to the counter in the back and make sure to bring the sheet with your table number on it. The gal at the counter who took our order wasn't as friendly as the hostess but she was polite enough to inform us about the 15% charge. The food came out very quickly. Hopefully it's because they had a ton of people working in the back. Hopefully. I ordered the Magic Mushroom Tacos and thought it was a beautiful plate. My favorite thing about the dish is the tortillas. It had a nice light crisp to it and kept all the fillings intact from start to finish. The "Magic Mushrooms" were good but could have been better if the batter were lighter and crispier. The batter was a little on the heavy and dense side for me. I also think the sauce could be even better if it had a bit less oil and a bit more flavor. I really enjoyed the potato slices and the fresh berries were a great way to cleanse the palate. My lunch date ordered the Biscuit and gravy dish and thought it was good. We also ordered a side of the Belgian waffle to share. I thought the waffle on its own was extremely sweet and way too dense for my liking. I am happy there's a locally owned and created brunch place like Harvest Kitchen and will definitely be back to try other dishes. Note: There's an automatic 15% service charge to every order.

This is done because of the ordering process and the requirement to pay at the top of the meal rather than at the end and service was actually performed. The fact that all was done was the delivery of our order and not one check on the table to see how the meal was. They did come by and ask for the dishes, but didn't ask how the meal was. The ahi tuna wasn't the best. It wasn't fresh and the feta cheese was a bit too overwhelming. As for the spinach and artichoke dip, I felt like it was okay. Didn't really like the tomatoes as it made the dip runny and hinder the taste from the star ingredients of the dish. The smoked gouda burger was the best. The meat was cooked perfectly and the amount for each ingredients were given generously. I also really loved how you really can taste the smokiness from the bite. As for the pasta, I thought that it was good but not the best. It was starting to get a bit heavy with the amount of cheese and I do wish the cajun flavor could be a bit stronger. The chicken was also on the dry side but it's still pretty decent. Overall, this place is okay. Service could've been a bit better since it took a while for us to find someone to help us on our water refill and check.
