Please note we paid for additional insurance to cover up to $15,000 worth of damage. I spent weeks trying to get in touch with someone. Jovelyn who was barely responsive. The company would screen my calls. Then finally the GM, Scott, took over my case. The company admitted fault and took responsibility, then the company agreed to replace our furniture that was damaged/broken (I have proof) and then Mike (whom till this day refuses to return my calls) decided I had to file a claim through this CSI company that investigates claims. After waiting almost 2 weeks for Jovelyn to get me the information I needed to file, I complete one. Then I contacted Moving Ahead Services MULTIPLE times because no one from this CSI claims ever reached out to me or answered my emails/calls after I filed. It's now August 22nd, I moved June 13, and I'm still sleeping on a bed on the floor because my bed frame was snapped in half. I waited to write a review because I wanted to give them the opportunity to rectify the situation. God speed if you choose this company.

Call his direct extension? No answer and the mailbox is full. Impossible to communicate with. - December 16, 25. My in-person experience was relatively good - good enough that I was posting about it to family and friends with high recommendation. But the day after the move I went to set up my TV and discovered that the screen was severely cracked, having been (it seems) pinched in the top two corners. The crack spread across the entire top half of the screen. The TV works, but is unusable. I had to buy a new one, which cost me almost $200. I submitted the damage complaint twice and was not even contacted. For a company that calls and emails every day for a week trying to GET my business in the first place, that is particularly gross. As it stands now, I can't imagine ever using or recommending College HUNKS again purely because of the lack of response to my complaints, let alone lack of resolution. If you don't have anything fragile, sure, go ahead. But maybe move the fragile things yourself (my TV was the only fragile thing I did not move myself, and I sorely regret it). I will add that it was a 3.5 hour job that involved moving down from a second floor in a house and then up to a third floor in another house, and the TV was the only thing damaged. It was not packed in a box and the movers assured me they could use their TV bag and it would be fine. It was not fine.

I would NOT recommend this moving company…read more The move started out well. They arrived on time and initially seemed professional. Unfortunately, things went downhill quickly. First, the movers started putting items on the truck that I had clearly set aside to throw away, including a dryer. After loading things that weren't supposed to be moved, they then told me they were running out of room on the truck. Once we arrived at the new place, the pace became extremely slow. There were four movers, but at times it seemed like only one person was actually going back and forth upstairs and putting furniture back together. I was told they were using a "chain line," but whatever system they were using was not efficient. The move ended up taking two hours longer than expected, which added approximately $500 to my bill. Even worse, they broke my daughter's TV, which she had only owned for about four months. When I tried to file a claim, I repeatedly called and was told that a manager would contact me. I kept speaking with the same person, John, who would act surprised each time that no manager had called me back. Eventually, they stopped answering my calls altogether. As we've continued unpacking, we've discovered another serious issue. The TV stand had been taped closed with belongings inside of it, but when it arrived at the new place, those items were missing and the TV stand was empty. My biggest problem isn't just that things went wrong during the move--it's the company's lack of accountability afterward. Items were damaged, other belongings appear to be missing, my bill increased by hundreds of dollars because of the additional time, and my attempts to resolve the issues have been ignored. Based on my experience, I would not use this company again and cannot recommend them. If something gets damaged or goes missing, don't expect them to make the claims process easy or to take responsibility.

It seemed a big headache and cost to think about trying to rent a truck and do it myself. I was going to just forego taking the items but my kids said I would regret it. So I did a lot of research. I chose U-Pack for cross-country shipping and couldn't be happier. It was so super easy and affordable. I don't hand out "amazing" compliments often , but the whole process was AMAZING! They helped from beginning to end and they were in contact step by step. Everyone was super nice, professional and prompt. The unit was securely built and arrived clean. My brother, the packing guru, used straps to secure items. When I opened the door upon arrival in California, not a thing was out of place or damaged. It truly could not have been easier. We emptied the unit at our leisure (3 day window) and they promptly picked it up. I'm so glad I arranged to have items shipped. My kids were right - I would gave regretted not having my dad's desk. They moved the unit from Ohio to MN and even stored it for us for a small fee until we could move in. They dropped the storage unit in front on our move day and had it picked up and out of the way the next day. Highly recommended!!!
