While most cemeteries are devoid of inhabitants as celebrated as Bruce Lee, each one of them contains innumerable stories, each one like a thread that links us, in the present, to the grief and loss of those that have gone before us, and those that mourn them still, woven together like fabric. Life and death collide here, on holy ground, along with their constant companions: memory, introspection, and contemplation. "Don't neglect life by worrying about Death. - I don't know what is the meaning of death, but I am not afraid to die - and I go on, non-stop, going forward [with life]. Even though, I, Bruce Lee, may die some day without fulfilling all of my ambitions, I will have no regrets. I did what I wanted to do and what I've done, I've done with sincerity and to the best of my ability. You can't expect much more from life." The man summed it up himself, in the best way possible. You know you came here to visit and honor the shrine to the man who inspired many of us to greatness, but that is not the only reason to visit Lake View. Not only are the grounds sculpted and maintained with precision and care, the view of the surrounding countryside, particularly at sunrise or sunset (the birth and death of each day) is a breathtaking thing to behold. Even so, the true beauty here is the stories told, and untold, in the names, the dates, and the memorials erected for the fallen and beloved. When you're finished paying respect to celebrity, take a moment to walk amongst the triumphs and tragedies around you. Were their stories any less dramatic, meaningful, or inspiring? Is yours? Were these folks similarly content with life? Are you? Did they have regrets? Do you? Did they face death as fearlessly? Will you? Maybe you'll find the answers here.

Let's face it. 99% of you come here for one reason only. And his name rhymes with Luce Bree. I happened to be in the area visiting a friend and former San Diego Yelper Melissa M., who now resides in Capitol Hill. During downtime in the trip while my girlfriend was getting her hair did, I went ahead and WALKED directly to his tomb. Admittedly, it wasn't exactly a close walk, but for some, it's completely do-able. It's open to the public, and there is no admission fee. It's not like it's an attraction or anything like that. It's a normal cemetery, after all. What is the best way to get there once entering the cemetery? Head straight ahead. Once the road starts to turn, keep going straight ahead through the grass towards the flag pole. Before you reach the road up there, you will likely see a crowd of people gravitating towards it. We organically formed a line in order to get a good position in plain view of the tombstones. Many even took pictures with them. I personally wanted no pictures of them with my face, smiling like a fool. We're talking about the greatest who ever lived with his son by his side for eternity. As for the rest of the place, the tombstones and graves are actually very nice, depending on what the loved ones have decided to purchase and decorate the plot. The grass gets fairly dry because of the weather, but it's not a problem. Is there any place to park? I personally didn't see any, as there are only roads that sift through the cemetery. I would personally park outside the cemetery and just walk in.

So want to hear a story? I book marked this place because I was going to be in Seattle and I'm a big fan of Bruce and Brandon Lee. Then upon entering, I realized I didn't know where to go. Crapola. So I asked myself, if Brandon and Bruce was here, where would they be buried? I was thinking maybe somewhere highup. Guess what? I was right. So you stay on the right side and you go up. Their grave sight is not at the very top but very close to it. If you do this and get close to the top, it would be on the left. Lucky for me, I did see two guys that didn't fit the norm. The Lee's headstone does stand out a bit more than others. It was my turn to say Hi to the Lee's after the two guys took an mid air roundhouse kick picture (I'm not shitting you) in front of the tombstone. Getting here is mostly by residential. You would never know you are by a cemetary. Glad I stopped by.

A few years ago, my best friend and his family came to this cemetery to pay their respects to Bruce Lee and his son. Since then I've been meaning to visit and give the same condolence. One of my friend's that I was with visited their grave site so it wasn't too much trouble to find their location. Venture to the middle of the cemetery and find the flagpole. Once you have done that you pretty much have hit the touchdown mark. Spend as little or as much time to grace the beauty and calm serenity. My friend placed flowers and we said a silent prayer. A unique collection of items has been placed over the years. One of them was one of the first ever Nintendo Gameboys lying by Brandon Lee's tomb. Other tombstones are worth taking a look. Many groups of families are buried together and they stand out on their own. I'm not much of a big fan of cemeteries, but this is definitely one of the few that it is worth checking out.

First of all: PLEASE PEOPLE! I know most of us go there for Bruce Lee, but please remember there's other graves here and who knows if someone is visiting their family or friend at that time.. It would be very impolite to talk loud or laugh!! Someone here for a sad reason so please do respect and keep quiet. It's not a regular park! :( Anyways... Yes me and my hubby went to visit Bruce Lee and his son's graves. We live pretty close to this place but today is the first day we finally went there. It was quite a trip... Bruce Lee is one of the greatest Asian artists! I'm glad we went there today. Parking: Idk why people worry about parking... You can drive inside the place and stop for a while. So don't worry about parking unless you want to stay there for more than 30 minutes. Then maybe you want to park somewhere in Volunteer park. Direction inside the cemetery to Bruce Lee: Google map will tell you exactly where! Really, google it and you will see. Otherwise: Go straight until 2 separate roads, go left. Then when you see there's another path on the right, go right! Then keep going until you see a grave with big "LOGAN" on, it's opposite to Bruce Lee's. Tips: look for a big white Heart shape grave. Bruce's is right behind the white heart shape grave! Good luck and... Keep quiet!

Respect. Beautiful cemetary and peaceful place. A lot of people come here to see the grave site for Bruce & Brandon Lee..... the grave site is up the hill, under a big tree, or you can just look where all the cars/crowd are gathering about. Maybe its just me, but I dont think its respectful to be all leaning, arms all over on the head stones, putting their heads in between the head stones, all touching it, being all loud and obnoxious just to take a photo. Have a little more respect people! Anyways, stop by for a visit when you are in Seattle and pay some respect to Bruce & Brandon Lee.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE sites that are off the beaten path. Lake View Cemetery is one of the sites that you must visit when you're in Seattle... I know, I know. I just recommended a cemetery! I'm assuming all these reviews are for Bruce and Brandon Lee's graves! Their burial sites are kind of hard to find but a hint is to look for the big ass gravestone that has a heart shape, and then nearby you'll see the graves where the father and son are buried. Or---you can just follow the crowd because every time I have a out-of-town friend come visit and take them there, there is always a bunch of people! But hey what can you expect for an international superstar who is kind of local because he went to UW? I just feel bad for Bruce and Brandon Lee's neighbors. They are getting trampled on by strangers and people who aren't even there to pay their respects to them!

I came here to visit Bruce and this was my favorite part of going to Seattle. This is the nicest cemetery I have been to. As you enter and look around, you will see impressive tombstones all throughout. It's pretty amazing. If you are looking to pay your respects to Bruce, look to the top where the flag pole is. He will be just steps away from there (TIP: you will also see a beautiful stone bench right in front ). So bring flowers and make sure not to come too late as the cemetery hours don't appear to be the same year round. PARKING You can park outside and walk in or drive in and find a spot that has enough room for you to stop.

My wife and I stopped here to pay our respects to the late Bruce Lee and his son Brandon Lee. Entrance is free and one can walk the grounds on their own without a tour guide like in New Orleans, LA. Free shoulder parking can be found on-site. The grave sites are located on top of the hill. Follow the paved road to the circular area and US flag. The sites are also located behind a beautiful heart shaped head stone. The grounds are well manicured and the cemetery is expansive, peaceful and gorgeous. Came here to pay my respects to the master Bruce Lee and his son Brandon Lee. The cemetery is really beautiful. A great peaceful place to be laid to rest. But probably not peaceful to the residents here since all of us tourist come. The headstones were pretty simple but nice. It was pretty empty when I went. Easy to find. Rest in Paradise!

While the rest of the world was out hunting for eggs amid the living, we decided to spend Easter hunting for gravestones amongst the dead. Despite being one of the smaller cemeteries I've been to, Lakeview Cemetery had plenty of charm. Desolate, wet grass, and fresh air with a burnished view of the Seattle skyline. If you're coming to find the Lees, follow the geographical coordinates with a grain of salt: (lat/lon): 47.6333, -122.3158 This will get you to the general vicinity. Once you're there, park in the circle lot on top of the hill. If you start walking downhill, look for a white headstone in the shape of a heart. Right behind it lay a cluster of bushes, to which you will find Mr. Bruce and Brandon Lee hidden within! Don't forget to bring some flowers and a few pennies!

My boyfriend was determined to visit Bruce and Brandon Lee's graves so we took the #10 bus all the way to the last stop and walked into the Cemetery to realize it was: raining, no one was around and we didn't know where their graves were.. lol We started walking up the hill towards the second left fork in the road and figured that it would be somewhere near the top. Luckily we were able to find it! Their tomb stones are easier to spot compared to others but just look for a stone bench near two tombstones to help spot their graves. We were surprised to see that there were lots of flowers & fruits already on their graves from people from around the world, they were truly loved my many. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Just stopped in here to visit Bruce & Brandon Lee's grave sites, which apparently is the reason most people come here. The grave sites are very easy to find, even if you don't have a GPS or Goggle map. When you enter the cemetery just walk straight thru the cemetery to the top of the hill & you'll find them (or just look for the cars & tour vans probably parked there). Of the 2, I like Brandon's headstone most because it is more sculpturally artistic. Otherwise, the grave sites are not particularly noteworthy other than the fact that Bruce & Brandon are buried there. But if you are or ever were a fan of these men it is a pilgrimage that you must make if you're in the area. I was a fan of both of them & am glad that I had the opportunity to visit their burial site. read more

I'm not a fan of cemeteries but my bf wanted to visit Bruce Lee's grave because: 1) he's Asian, 2) he has the same last name. You have to make sure that you know where to go because Bruce and Brandon Lee's graves are not specially marked. Thank goodness for smart phones. Anyway, there's a nice bench nearby where you can sit and pay your respects and take in the moment. I was rude and on a work conference call the whole time but my bf said he felt something special right there. Good for him. read more

Another review by BAM While in Seattle, a must do! Visit Bruce Lee and Brandon Lee's grave sites at Lake View Cemetery. The space proves to be a very serene, peaceful and contemplative setting. The location is set on a high spot in Lake View Cemetery, look for the flagpole where the American flag is proudly displayed. The grave sites of Bruce and his son Brandon are very close to the family grave sites of one of the early pioneers of Seattle, John Leary, successful businessman and former Mayor of Seattle. Bruce Lee was one of my first role models, as a young Chinese American man growing up in the United States. We all admired Bruce Lee's skill, determination and dedication to his lifestyle of martial arts and his development of JKD - Jeet Kune Do. I admired his contemplative state and poetry. If you can, definitely want to visit the ID - International District to visit the Bruce Lee exhibition at the Wing Luke - http://www.wingluke.org/ And people...the Master had SWAG. We flew in to Seattle to visit some friends and decided to take a short trip out to pay our respects to Bruce and Brandon Lee. Since it was our first time, none of us knew where to find the gravestones so we parked outside the cemetery. Big mistake!!! It was not only raining but the gravesite is also pretty far in and quite hidden. I would say a good 5-10min walk from the gates and the back of the tombstones are facing a small road. You can actually drive in and get pretty close to the gravesite before you have to walk. read more

Yes-- it was part of our Seattle agenda to visit a cemetery. Why? To pay our respects to Bruce and Brandon Lee who have been laid to rest here. Enter the cemetery and head towards the flag pole. You'll probably see a few people gathered around the site. The place was peaceful and well kept. There are benches there for you to sit and reflect. Everyone visiting was very respectful and did not make it seem like a tourist spot which was really appreciated. read more

Whenever I have visitors out of town, I take them to pay homage to Bruce Lee. I guess it's not well known that he was buried in Seattle. After the visit, they feel inspired and their trip was well worth it. The cemetery have beautiful views and well taken care of too. read more

Great views at the top, and it was awesome catching up on the history here. What drew us there was Bruce and Brandon Lee, but really enjoyed many of the other mausoleums, gravestones, and markers around. Really enjoyed our time there, and it brought up interesting topics to talk about as we wandered around. Glad we got to spend time there. read more

Visited Bruce and Brandon's grave. I had tried to make it a few years prior, but didn't make it due to difficulties getting out there. I am so glad I made it this time and when we looked for the heart, we found their grave behind it. It's a humble grave and very modest for someone who changed the world forever. I was deeply touched. It's in a beautiful area overlooking the sound. Highly recommended to pay respects. read more

Came here to pay our respect to Mr. Bruce Lee and his son! Difficult to find, luckily the people that I was with knew where it was. however, they made us play the guessing game. The only clue that was given to us were "center aisle, trees, bushes, standing tombstone"! Took us a while to find it but once we got it, it was a very surreal atmosphere. Other people were there also and while we were leaving, people where asking us where Bruce Lee's grave was. It seems like alot of people come to this graveyard to pay thier respects to the infamous, Bruce Lee. If you have the time to do it, I highly sugges you do this! read more

This was an.. interesting stop. My partner being a big Bruce Lee fan needed to see this. It was a typical cemetery and not a "tourist attraction" it was very quiet and respectful. A couple of cars pulled up after us but waited till we were done. There was also an intriguing tombstone way below the hill dedicated to the confederate army. It was really a lovely short visit, clean & very pretty surrounded by cherry trees and a good view of the city. read more

This is an amazing cemetery. I love laying next to head stones and trying to communicate with the dead. I usually get weird looks or get asked to leave but all of the workers treated me like a piece of art. I really felt welcomed here!! read more

This was one of our last stops when visiting Seattle. Very impromptu visit as we only had about an hour of spare time before leaving the city. Very beautiful and peaceful. Came here to visit the gravestones for Bruce and Brandon Lee. Can be tricky to find but with the help of other yelpers reviews, we were able to find it quickly after entering the cemetery. When entering, look for the flag pole and gravestone with the heart. The father and son will be behind a large bush near the heartstone. I wish I had more time to experience this historic park and see all the beauty that it had to offer. read more

We specifically visited Lake View Cemetery to visit the graves of Bruce and Brandon Lee. It was a little hard to find since we were only going off of a couple pages online (we didn't have great reception) but eventually I got out of the car and just started walking and found the two graves. It was a bittersweet feeling to pay homage to the two men. All in all, this is a beautiful cemetery. read more

Although Lakeview Cemetery is serene and peaceful like most cemeteries, this place is truly unique in its historical relevance. I belonged to a historical society in 2004 and we came here one cold December day to pay our respects to the Denny clan. It was rather, and still is, awe inspiring to have the perspective that this family helped to create the city that we know and love (maybe) today. Of course Lakeview is the final resting place for Bruce Lee and his son Brandon, and I will admit dear reader that my stomach turned a little when I saw a tour bus parked near the grave sites on a recent visit. read more

Came here to visit the final resting place of Bruce and Brandon Lee. The location is near the top of the hill between a large heart shaped grave and a large cross. There is also a bush to provide the markers with some privacy. It's a very scenic spot and a good place to remember a pioneer of the martial arts. read more

It's a beautiful cemetery and one of Seattle's oldest. I have personal history here. My family was one of the first Chinese families in Washington state. My Great Grandparents, Grandparents, Great Aunts and Uncles are laid to rest here. When I come to pay my respects I take time to look for other graves such as Bruce and Brandon's as well as Seattle's founding families. It's easy to loose track of time here as well as Volunteer Park next door. read more

If you're in Capitol Hill it's worth a walk here to check out Bruce and Brandon Lee's graves. Look for the flag pole, the Lees' graves are surrounded by a low wall of hedges. There are other famous folks here and it's sort of an interesting thing to see and say you did on your trip to Seattle. read more

We walked all over the place before finding the famous headstones. But it was truly a moving experience when we did. On a side note we saw a random caucasian couple taking pictures next to another tombstone that said "Lee" on it and that was yards and yards away from Bruce and Brandon's... but that's none of my business. read more

Came here to visit Bruce and Brandon Lee's gravestones. Very peaceful beautiful cemetary that's nestled in an older neighborhood. If you need help finding their gravestones, once you pull into the cemetery, you will see a very large white heart shaped gravestone up on a hill pretty much straight ahead. Their gravestones are RIGHT BEHIND that one. Funny story is my friends and I were having trouble finding it at first and I was looking through Yelp reviews for some kind of direction. A friend said, why can't it be easy to find like that GIANT WHITE HEART SHAPED GRAVE STONE?! When we finally found their grave site, we realized they sat right behind that GIANT WHITE HEART SHAPED GRAVE STONE. Hope that helps! read more

I have never considered cemeteries morbid, as dwelling places for the bugbears of our imagination, but rather as monuments of the past where the genealogies of the famous and forgotten can be perused. Established in 1872, this is one of the more important cemeteries in Seattle and the resting place for numerous notable individuals. Perhaps most popularly, the graves of Bruce and Brandon Lee are honored by thousands each year, who leave their respect in the form of colorful mementos. Receiving less attention, but certainly more significant to the history of Seattle, are the pioneers and innovators. This is a lovely cemetery. Like everyone, we made the pilgrimage to Bruce Lee's grave on a sunny afternoon. There are many other things to see: memorials, tombs, graves, and statuary. Bring your camera and some spare time. read more

I unfortunately had to bury my son. The silver lining was that he can be at Lakeview cemetery. He liked to visit there when he was young because of the Bruce Lee fame. It is a beautiful place to visit and well maintained. The staff is from a family business and they know how to be with people in grief. I live in the neighborhood so it is a good location to visit frequently. It feels very peaceful there and for the worst case scenario, this is the best option. read more

f Thomas Mercer found his Eden on Queen Anne Hill, imagine how ten of Seattle's leading citizens felt when they acquired the land that was to become their beloved cemetery. Situated atop Capitol Hill, this beautiful hillcrest property was incorporated on October 16, 1872, only seven years after the Civil War. The Seattle Masonic Cemetery was set with surrounding views of Lake Union, the Cascades, Lake Washington and the Olympic Mountains. In 1890, while Seattle's land and population were expanding, the cemetery officially changed its name to Lake View and soon found itself amidst a prosperous Capitol Hill neighborhood. It's here we're reminded of Seattle's first families overcoming many adversities and their crucial pioneering efforts in urban development and renewal. I thank Kendra for remaining calm and collected while chaos ensued between family members. While Kendra is a newer member of Butterworth, her years of experience in this industry was demonstrated through her professionalism and I'm grateful to have worked with her throughout this very challenging time in my life. Every step along the way, Kendra checked in to ensure no mistakes were made and always accommodated to my family's ever-changing requests. On the day of, she was fantastic about making sure all our needs were met. Even when I gave her the nod to close the casket and my grandmother ran over because she didn't want the casket to close, Kendra immediately knew what to do and kept it open so my grandmother could truly have her final moment with my grandfather. I knew we were on a time crunch and honestly none of us wanted to say goodbye, but eventually it had to be done. Kendra was incredibly respectful when everyone was so emotional. I want to groom them, do their hair and make-up, dress them, give them one last spray of their favorite perfume or cologne, sing them their favorite song, just be with them before they're either presented in casket at their funeral service or before they're cremated. I want to make sure their favorite music can be played, their favorite flowers can be around, etc. There aren't many people now-a-days who feel the way I do or who want to do the things that I do for the dead. And there aren't many funeral homes that are sensitive or receptive to this -- they want to do their thing their way. Barbara is different so Butterworth is different. If you want to prepare your deceased, Barbara will make sure you have a private room to do it in. If you don't have your own, she'll bring you their assortment of cosmetics, hair brushes, etc. and she'll even help you with the dressing (you'd never know it but this woman is strong.) Barbara understands. She's interested in burial traditions in other other countries, in other cultures, etc. Arthur A. Wright Chapel (which is attached to the funeral home) is a sweet old-feeling chapel with a serene vibe. There's plenty of room for any type of service you'd like to have. They accommodate everything: Visitation, Memorial Service, Graveside Service, Chapel Service, Church Service, Committal Service, Special Gatherings. I wouldn't care if Butterworth were a few bucks more for burials or cremations, I'm a loyal customer regardless. Service extraordinaire. And they understand.

I had not requested a steaming since I didn't have plans to use the dress again anytime soon, but they did one complimentary for me which made the dress look absolutely stunning and like it was brand new. Tjru don't reach into your vehicle as far as I've noticed to help unload in that way which is fine with me. They do offer a tax receipt if you'd like one.

I have been there probably 15 times and it is really neat. The cemetery is so pretty and a great view of Husky Stadium and Lake Washington. On a blue sky day you will be able to see Mount Rainier also. The tombstones and grave sites are interesting and tasteful. Fans and people leave strange items ie. flowers, fruit, jewelry, coins, notes, pictures, clothing and many more items over the years. The cemetery is next to Seattle' famous Volunteer park in the Capital Hill neighborhood. Most of the founding father' families are resting there as well. As far as cemetery's go I think this one is the best I have ever been to and suggest you do as well. read more

went with my son who paid for the trip as a birthday gift (12/02/2016)(5000 miles from the UK) AS A LIFELONG FAN OF BRUCE LEE a father and son paid their respects to another father and son. it's a well kept and nice grave plot with bushes to 2 sides,and gifts are left(i left a little dragon for bruce,and a crow figure for brandon)this will stay with me forever and an experience beyond what i'd thought it would be. may both rest in peace read more

This isn't a typical Yelp review obviously. I came across this place because I paid my respect to Bruce Lee and his son. It's a very peaceful garden. Accessible to buses too even if you don't rent a car here. From my online research, I easily found Bruce's. The quote on it could be very meaningful.
