I called Lakeland because I had already tried to troubleshoot my 10 year old fridge that died myself. I was at the limit of what I could figure out, and hoped that they might be able to help me either fix it or advise me on whether I should get a new one. Tom called me back a few hours later, and patiently spent 20 minutes on the phone with me. Ultimately, he determined that I HAD actually fixed it myself, and that the issue I was identifying related to it not working when I plugged it back in after unplugging it while running was normal. He explained in detail, and provided information that will help me going forward. The conversation cost him his time (and money) but was free for me. I haven't had to work with anyone else in the area, but I can assure you that Tom will be the first person I call for any appliance issues going forward. The willingness to spend his time without suggesting for a fee bearing appointment demonstrates his care for his trade and his customers, even though I wasn't one yet. While I don't wish for any appliance repairs in the future, I know there will be a need. I only hope that Tom won't be retired by then. read more

I live in the Squaw Valley area and have a refrigerator leaking water inside the lower tray of the unit. I just called and spoke with Tom the owner of Lakeland abs I just had to write a quick review because of how impressed I was with him through and through! He's super nice, and very knowledgeable about oven repairs! I called to see if I could hire him to come out and fix my oven that seems to be having issues. While on the phone, he was able to diagnose what is initially wrong and offer me a few options. He was also up front about the costs associated with having him come out to check things out and he didn't hesitate to tell me that I should think on the options before proceeding. I find that super classy!! Instead of charging me money fir him to come out he advised that I think about the associated costs and weigh them. I appreciate his honesty and industry knowledge. We have a vacation home in Kingswood Village. After putting our oven into self-cleaning, the oven stopped working completely (with oven door locked). We got a hold of Lakeland the next business day. They are available in the morning/evening via phone before/after they go out for service calls. Tom was very familiar the model and exact problem with our KitchenAid oven (blown thermal fuse). He took extra time on the phone, and was patient while explaining the exact cause of the issue, the result, the repair process and all our options. He was even nice enough to go into our unit and write-down the serial number of the oven so that we could call KitchenAid to report the issue. When it comes to having a vacation home, time is critical and having an honest company like this, who have superb communication and are masters at what they do is a diamond in the rough. read more

If necessary he will come out or he will give advice over the phone rather than charging a bunch of money and wasting time to physically come out. Wow what a company! My experience with Tom, the owner, was refreshingly honest. This is a VERY honest and knowledgeable company and I want to commend him for that. I called Tom today because I have an Kitchen Aid large refer that has been leaking water and causing my floor to buckle. He took the time to explain, in detail, that Kitchen Aid had a design flaw in these refers which is causing my problem. Rather than wasting my money he explained that most likely Kitchen Aid would fix it for free since they are aware of the flaw. I explained that his honesty and time that he spent with me on the phone to explain my problem is rare. I will use only this company for now on. By the way, I picked this company from YELP because of Tom's response to the person who left him 1 star. I thought his response was well written and honestly expressed. Tom did an inspection and rather than charge me for an unnecessary repair, he instructed me on the issue and offered multiple options for repair. We had a dryer issue recently that could have been a faulty thermistor, or a faulty main board, or a blocked duct, or an improperly routed duct... A couple other people had looked at it, and between an appliance repair company that could hardly be bothered to solve anything that was not plain vanilla, a handyman who despite assurances that he could solve it found himself out of his depth, and a contractor who could do little more than clear some of the line I was at a loss. Finally, I decided to give it another try (after all, the dryer would work on low temperature, so it wasn't a totally inoperable dryer), so I called Lakeland. Tom came out when he said he would, looked at the dryer, checked around under the condo (where the dryer vented), ordered and replaced the thermistor, and got the dryer sorted out! We will be sure to use Lakeland in the future. read more

Guy was a great help to me trying to figure out my L.P. conversion on my GE Space saver washer dryer.

I paid 90 bucks of a lesson on how to open my washer and fix it myself! I had a horendouse banging while on high spin, his thought and I quote "when I fix a broken machine and it sounds like this there's nothing else I do!" he should of said that over the phone after i told him it was a noise issue! And after researching a bit I found that the spring although intact, can loose there boing, that which keeps the tub from banging.. Cost for those parts, less than three dollars a piece. The time to fix? Less than thirty minutes. About the same amount of time it takes to "level and wd40" my washer, cause that's all he did. It also took him over a week to find the time to come over. Seems like he's only willing to "work" if he's gonna make a high percentage off parts and labor, the fact that he looked me in the eyes while I paid 90 for commuting almost takes away from his morality. I'm sure he's a nice person, but very unhelpfull. read more

Lakeland is now my go-to appliance repair business. My fridge had been growing steadily warmer for a few months, I didn't know if it was something that could be fixed, or if I was looking at a huge replacement expense. If you've ever tried to schedule labor in this area you know what a miracle it is just to get a business to return your call, so I was thrilled that Tom at Lakeland not only answered the phone (on the third ring!), he also scheduled me for an appointment the next morning. All fees and labor rates were explained in advance so there would be no surprises, and the rates are reasonable and fair. Tom arrived exactly when he said he would, calling from the road to confirm he was on the way. He had everything he needed to get right to work, and he explained exactly what he was doing to diagnose and repair my ailing fridge. He had the needed replacement part in his van, so an hour later my fridge was back in business -- and honestly, it's running better now than it has in years, saving me hundreds of dollars.
