I love Mariscos!!! I'm unsure if I spelled that correctly but Mexican style sea food is some of my favorite food for sure! I've lived in Santa Barbara and really haven't found a good place for mariscos but my friend recommended I drive to Ventura and give Lagos a try and I'm so happy I did!!! The shrimp was cooked perfectly not burned like I've had at a place in Santa Barbara! The fish was cooked to perfection and the avocado was very fresh! You can raise your prices, I get it, inflation, wages, rent, overhead etc, but don't skimp on your product. We like ours with the mixed seafood (shrimp, abalone, and more) and all the fixings on top (onion, cilantro, etc.) They give you all the options to customize them just to your liking right down to selecting crackers or chips. Delish! Everything we've had here has been great. Only reason for 4 stars is parking... it can be a mess and the shared lot with Car Wash and house behind make it quite a cluster to get in and out of most of the time. read more

I came here for lunch. This has always been a great place for Mexican food. The parking is really horrible . It is hard to find a parking. It is an outside eatery. They have a little patio, It was super packed. I got 2 buche tacos and a torta de carnitas. It was good wish the meat was warmed up more also the torta had cheese inside never had it with american sliced cheese. The salsa is really delicious and the tacos are really huge. 3 dollars for a taco though it is quite expensive. Total with all my food ordered and drink came out to 17 dollars. It was really made fast did not have to wait long. The customer service was really nice. The outside was super clean. The other times I tried it , the food was awesome . I have been looking for the best breakfast burrito in the Ventura/Oxnard area and so far this has set the bar. I had the carne asada with flour tortilla, 3 eggs, potatoes, cheese, and their hot sauce. Their burrito is large, hot, well-wrapped, and very tasty. The meat was chopped nice and excellent tasting. The eggs were fresh. Just enough cheese, anymore would be too much. And, the potatoes were piping hot. The hot sauce could be a little hotter, but that's a side item and next time I will bring my own. Overall, it will be hard to beat such a competent burrito. I intend to try again with a different meat choice to see which is best. Parking is limited, so find a place on the street if you can't find one in their lot. read more

I went here because I was on a mission (no pun intended) to find Mexico city style Tacos el Pastor. Every taco shop in Ventura advertises them but so far nobody has gotten close (spoiler alert - Taqueria Cuernavaca is the only one close). Most of these tacos el pastor joints sell big vats of pork floating in chili paste infused oil and pass it off as Tacos el Pastor. This couldn't be further from the truth. Lalo's also has an extensive menu of grilled cheese, hamburgers, chili cheese fries, onion rings and even patty melts. You probably know where I'm going with this. I've read a lot of the other reviews here and chuckle at the mentions of authentic. What authentic means to most people is that it's "what you'd expect". If this jives with what people expect then they think it's authentic. Lalo's seems to focus on large vats of stuff like refried beans and rice. You can buy a 16 lbs vat of meat for $130 plus tax. A giant pan of rice is $42 dollars and a giant pan of beans is oddly only $35. Considering rice costs about half to make as beans I would expected the opposite. We ordered one set of three Tacos el Pastor which came in a Styrofoam container. They came in double tortillas which is customary and had pork in some chili paste sauce covered with cilantro and white onions. On top was a ketchupy sauce that was supposed to be who knows what. On the side was a nice roasted onion and radishes. The best part of this meal. The onion. No seriously it was tasty. Followed by the radishes. If there wasn't any other taco joints around I'd eat there. Does it warrant the 4.5 star average on Yelp? Not in a million years, specially since Taqueria Cuernavaca is just down the street. read more

When we got it, we literally had about 6-8 shrimps and to top it off, the rice inside our burritos was pretty dry and seemed old.
