This is my family's go to dim sum place in Orlando. I would recommend going right at lunch time because the dim sum does taste more fresh. Or it could be a hit or miss, usually I really enjoy the food but today I went around 2pm and the dumplings tasted a little too chewy for my liking and had a weird after taste to it. I am still giving it a 4 Star because all of the other times I have gone everything tasted amazing. It was just this once that we went a little after lunch time that I was not as satisfied. Tonight I wanted Chinese and they are open late for a Sunday night. This place services authentic Chinese food (not that typical fast food Chinese food). We ordered the Pork with Clear noodle soup (the #7) to start. It's one of my favorite things there. The soup is a lightly salted broth with pieces of tender sliced pork, pickled vegetables, cabbage and the clear noodles. Mmm, I could eat a whole bowl all by myself (the bowls serves 2-4 people). We also ordered the Chicken Egg Foo Yung. One of my husband's favorites (he usually gets the House Special one). It is basically like a chicken omelet with onions and bean sprouts topped with the Egg Foo Yung sauce (similar to gravy). It's good and simple, nothing adventurous. Another dish we ordered tonight was the Beef Pan Fried noodles. It's thin egg noodles fried and topped with super super tender pieces of beef in a brown sauce with vegetables (carrots, onions, and Chinese broccoli). Oh, the crispy parts of the noodle not doused in the sauce is so yummy. I hate when my husband mixes it all up because I like the different textures as I chew. Hehe. My son is a picky eater but he will eat the pieces of beef from this dish with rice. If you've never been here, the front of the restaurant displays the fresh seafood they have and yes, they do really use to cook. They have plenty of dishes if you want to try to be adventurous. The decor and furniture look as if they first opened in the 80's, complete with the traditional Dragon and Phoenix art piece. Come early on Saturdays or Sundays as the serve Dim Sum and it will be packed during peak lunch time. read more

We're visitors from North California, our last dinner decided to spend in this place with our friends. Each of us ordered separate meals despite the fact that waiter said a meal is for two people. Probably the best dim sum place in Orlando for the price, service, and I'm adding an extra star for the owner lady's lychees. The wait at all these asian dim sum places is infuriating because they refuse to set up an online wait and require someone of your party to physically be there for the table to be called. We were so annoyed we shopped around for places until the owner here promised us only 20 min. The service was standard and the prices are a bit on the high side but I think all of the dim sum places around here are priced the same. Additionally for those who want soup dumplings with dimsum, look somewhere else cuz this is not your place. read more

Dim Sum isn't fresh. Shrimp dumplings taste like sticky seafood. Found plastic from one of the dumplings that they took the cost of the bill. Best dim sum restaurant we've found so far in Orlando. The Beef short ribs were loved by my guest, and the Ha Gao (my apologies if my spelling is off), and pork (and the shrimp) Shu Mai were both excellent. Sticky rice on lotus leaf good, shrimp crepes MOST excellent! Full disclosure here- my friend is an Asian who used to run a restaurant, and this is what we like the most in Orlando area so far. Can we get dim sum? This is a constant question from my husband who craves dim sum any time of day. This is one of the places in Orlando we visit to satisfy his craving. I don't mind it because it's a quick place for lunch and there is a lot of variety. The restaurant is located in a plaza on Colonial Drive that wouldn't catch your eye normally driving by. Recently we came here on a Saturday when it was reasonably busy but we were seated right away. Immediately after arriving, the carts come by with all sorts of steamed dumplings, fish balls, and custards. My favorites are the fried shrimp balls and turnip cake. We also enjoy the Chinese broccoli with our meal but it is quite an expensive add-on. They also have a full menu to order from. We've dined here for dinner before, but this review is only for dim sum. We watched the table of three next to us grab just about one of everything off the cart. They also ordered off the menu as well and took home to-go boxes. Be careful! It's easy to get carried away and end up with a table full of food (and a huge bill) at this place because you're hungry and the food is easy to grab. My biggest piece of advice is to start out slow and you can always request items off the cart later...Or be like my husband - eat everything and end up a happy camper. read more

Tea is free if requested. Came here for Dim Sum and the steam carts were actually steaming! As far as the food itself - The shrimp siu mai was okay the wrapping was too thick. The pork siu mai was not tender and I can taste grizzly fat upon chewing. The dumplings imo were hard and not tender and also not as flavorful as what Im used to. The shrimp rice paste was okay the noodle was not tender soft and the sauce was not thick and sweet / flavorful as what im used to. Egg tarts were small they had a flaky crust but the egg custard I think was jello-ish. Ming Bistro still takes the cake as far as dim sum goes but with the egg tarts and freshness of the shrimp - Golden Lotus has this. read more

I have been to Lam's Garden for seafood dinners but today is my first time coming in for dim sum since now they serve Hong Kong style dim sum. It's Sunday noon and the place is packed. I walk thru the line and proceed to the table where my friend and her family have gotten for us. The table is already full of tapas such as siu mai, ha cao, shrimp rice cake, calamari, cai lan, phung chao and shrimp eggplant. I take a little bit of everything into my plate and a bit of sautéed chili. When I take the bites, it was so good and yummy. When we almost done with all the dishes, the cart loaded with food come to us. We take some more phung chao, fried shrimp ball, chive dumpling, beef rice cake, pork xa xiu rice cake and half roast duck. Everything is so fresh and tasty. I was told the pork XA xiu rice cake is not good as the pork was too dry. We also get some egg custard for dessert; and that is good too. Overall the food is as good as Chan's but the service is not as good. They don't clear out our table until the end so empty dishes are everywhere. Hence the 4 stars. read more

To all of my GailFriends This is my go to for anything vegetarian! I absolutely love their Singapore Noodles (Mei Fun). I don't eat meat but I've found that many of their dishes can be prepared without meat so I don't feel like I'm missing anything. Great flavor and taste with just the right spices. The portions are a healthy size which allows for leftovers...yum...and who doesn't appreciate leftovers? Authentic feel when I walked in. The place is known for Dim Sum which is good had it before. So I ordered whole roasted duck, beef pan fried noodles, shrimp chow fun and pork fried rice for take out totaled $75. Here's my review 1. The duck was excellent although they didn't give me any dipping sauce. 2. The beef with pan fried noodles was ok. The beef sliced too think and narrow, minimal chinese brócoli 3. The shrimp chow fun had plenty of jumbo shrimp but the noodle was a little dry which tells me they are rehydrated noodles and not from fresh noodles. Finally the pork fried rice. It was pretty good. We ordered some usuals, BBQ pork buns, beef rice paste, pork ribs in black bean sauce, congee with pork and preserved eggs. Overall,something was off with all the dishes we ordered. We love Dim Sum but everything tasted weird. My kid typically don't say anything but I think she is becoming a foodie. She even commented on the taste. I am very confused why this place does not have a solid 5 stars. Last weekend was my third time coming here. It is absolutely delicious. My favorite dim sum is the fried taro puff and they make THE best I've ever had. The steamed or fried dumplings, green beans, ribs, steamed rice noodle with shrimp, fried shrimp balls...all yummy. This place is family owned and they are so nice. Great service and everything I want in a dim sum restaurant: enjoying a great meal with friends. I lived in NYC for the past 12 years and getting Chinatown dim sum was a regular thing. Had egg foo young to go. This is the first time I've ever seen EFY with the sauce already on it, and that made the EFY patties very soggy. In addition, the sauce was awful and bland... tasted like flour and oil w/o even any salt. Very light color, unlike any other EFY sauces I've had or made before. I managed to salvage it by scraping/wiping off all sauce, putting it in an air fryer at high for 4 mins, and that gave it a bit of crispness to counter the sogginess. Added a bit of soy and sriracha and managed to salvage it. The actual EFY under the horrid sauce was actually quite decent. I might try it again with the request of no sauce, then roll my own. read more

That should of been the sign for us to leave. It's dingy in there! All they wanted was to rush us to order right away when we first sat down!! Atleast give us a chance to look at the menu and help us. We didn't even know who our real server was either!! They're just all over the place!! I saw this lady pushing a steam table cart with dim sum and other plates of open food on top of more food and more food Piles. We should've just left after seeing that!! I should've took pictures..But it was so gross!! She asked us if we want any and I was like no thanks!! We ended up ordering different dishes from there Chinese/American menu. That house fried rice was so oily and tasted nasty..garlic chicken was soggy bad..Lo mein had no flavor and super greasy. Food taste really old and not fresh at all!!!! Long story short!!! The next day we all got sick..coming from both ends!!!! We should've left when we saw those nasty tanks and mildew everywhere outside of it near that little bench next to it. We were told of this place by a person who emigrated here from China 10 years ago. We had some time before a flight out of Orlando, so we stopped here for lunch. It was on a Saturday and they had the dim sum carts in full gear. We decided to order off the menu and the food was delicious. It was okay. It did not blow my mind away. The server was not too helpful and tended to leave us for long periods of time. Took me three tries to get our server to bring us hot oil. The restaurant was not full at all it was just our table and two other tables, so there was no reason for it. Once I got the hot oil is was just.. mehh... The dumplings were pretty stuffed but were also lacking flavor. I cannot see myself going back here. Now the location is nice, clean and spacious. Ever since New Year's Day several years ago, when we stopped in for Dim Sum, Lam's has been our favorite Dim Sum place. The last two times, my wife and I split the Peking Duck; but, on this visit, our daughter was in charge; and, we ordered almost a dozen small plates to share, including a pot of Green Tea; and, Shui Mai, Shrimp Noodle, Crispy Taro Dumpling, Green Beans with Sausage, Pan Fried Turnip Cake, Sweet Buns, Sesame Balls, and others. These are our standard fare for dim sum and Lam's does it right. The servers are friendly and helpful; and, we always tip 20%. The owners are usually there; and, tally up our bill. Came here wanting to try another dim sum place in Orlando since I've only ever been to Ming's Bistro. Lam's Garden is one of the few places that I've heard about that serves dim sum the whole day so I knew I had to check it out and compare. On a Wednesday afternoon, we were lucky to be seated without any wait and got our order in before the lunch rush came after we arrived. There was a couple of tables filled already soI knew that this place was popular amongst people living in this area. There's plenty of seating in booths or medium and larger tables, I kept on imagining how busy this place gets when they have their a la carte dimsum. The staff was very helpful in any small requests needed. If your server isn't in sight, there's many other members of their staff walking around that would be more than welcome to help you. Our food came out pretty quick. Everything was fresh and steaming hot. Overall, the food was okay/good. When comparing it to Ming's, Ming's is definitely better in terms of quality. The dumpling in the shrimp dumplings were a little undercooked which made it quite chewy, and the shui mai was just missing that taste that would usually satisfy my craving. The service was probably the best part about the experience, but other than that I don't see myself coming back here. I think I will continue my search in finding the best dim sum in Orlando. read more
