I've been going to this place for years and I have to say has changed a lot. Went to have a good lunch with my family (3 people) the tables were empty and our food took forever and on top of that was cold when got to the table, ordered a chorizo con huevo plate and had no flavor! It was time to pay and noticed a 20% gratuity was added to my check but that is not all.... I paid someone else's check!!! I asked the guy wearing hugh rings why the tip was included if we were only 3 people.. isn't the tip up to the customer?? Anyhow, a lady came and told me that there was a mistake a I had paid another table's check and had to cancel everything. I then asked again why the 20% gratuity was included if we were only 3 people and said that is part of the policy. I know the gratuity will go to the waitress which I must say was really nice but again.. itsnt that up to the customer?? I spent over 125 dlrs will no go to this place again, sad bc family likes it. We couldn't be happier with the new ownership of Lancers. So friendly! Stuart greets us at our table every time we eat there. He really cares about his customers. Thank goodness he took over he is giving the place an amazing makeover. It went from falling apart to fabulous!! The portions are even larger and the menu hasn't changed a bit. You can still get all your favorites. I suggest the pancakes, the best in town. The tortillas soup is so delicious. The Omelettes are huge. The menu is so vast there's something for everyone. After Sunday mass some parishioners and I went to Lancer's for lunch. We were a party of 5 and 3 separate checks. My check (for 2) was $45 but the waiter added a $10.24 tip making my bill $55.24. I disputed this at the register and the cashier said she could not change it. I told the waiter I would not give him a $10 tip but $5 maximum. He removed the tip after a lot of haggling with both him and the cashier and the cashier accused me of trying to get away free. My wife and I have been customers of Lancers for more than 54 years and will not return until this very rude cashier is gone. Beware! Lancer's new generation of servers will cheat you. read more

I received horrible service from the waitress named key, my food was cold and not to mention how rude my server was. I've never experienced this service here before, when I notified my server that my food was cold she goes up to the chef and they'll him to put it in the heater because it's cold. We have been coming here for years and always enjoyed the food and service. However, we were there a few days ago and had no real complaints with the food or service, I've never seen the place look so dirty. A table near us was never cleared of dirty dishes and I had an insect visitor crawling on the floor that I had to chase away several times. I'm not sure how our server didn't see the insect visitor but I suspect there are more we didn't see. I'd hate to see a Burbank institution go away but it's obvious that it is suffering from neglect. read more

This place is an absolute delight. It takes you back to the diner fair of years before. The menu is quiet impressive and nostalgic, and the execution of the dishes are satisfactory. Plus how can you beat $5 mimosa all day!? I will say service is a little slow, but I think that comes with the charm. If you're in the area definitely give this one a try for a trip down memory lane. I've gotta hand it to this restaurant. Having driven by it a zillion times for so many years, I never went there for some reason. A friend took me there the other day and I was very impressed with our food and service. I had the fried chicken because she raved about it many times. I loved it! A huge portion Then we had some carrot cake for dessert. It was beyond belief. So good! I sure hope they don't close as that's what she told me and that's what made me go there. I figured I had to try it at least once before it's gone. I've got a few more items on the menu that I'd like to try before it goes away. Omg had my tennis club luncheon here today for 27 girls. Everything was wonderful. Good food. We loved the appitizers ( onion rings , mozzarella sticks and fried zuchinni ). Came for brunch on a Saturday. Place was clean, got seated quickly. Food took forever. I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich for my cousin and I to share and we were both very disappointed. It was just a very expensive turkey and ham sandwich that I could have made at home. There wasn't even a cranberry glazed sauce served with it, which their menu claimed. Do they even know what a Monte Cristo sandwich is? I told waitress that the sandwich was missing even the sauce that it should come with. She mentioned that they have told owner numerous times about that but nothing is fixed. I wish she would have giving me a heads up about the "MonteCristo" sandwich not offered at their restaurant, just a plain turkey and ham sandwich. read more

Zero stars! My friend highly recommended this place. For friendly family atmosphere and a good meal. First uh oh for me was the restaurant was pretty empty and the host went straight for the rear by restrooms! That's a NO for me. Next, we were seated and it took 15/20 mins to BE ACKNOWLEDGED BY SERVER! He finally came quickly and was instantly pissy acting, after walking passed us 20 times with no acknowledgement he was then in engaging and very short with words also very rude acting! He was a tiny frame man with a baseball cap! Silver ware was dirty, he went away brought food 20 mins later and left. Never checked on us brought a napkin refreshed drinks nothing!!!!!! Friend ordered dessert he brought the WORST LOOKING BANANA CREAM PIE- melted and she asked for it to go cater he served it he brought a box and told her- put it in there! He was ridiculously rude! Nasty and highly disrespectful! Not to mention what the food looked like! I was upset I had went there.. NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!! The waitress in the back and the bus bit in back WERE AMAZING!!!! The newer owner is GREEDY and the good old days of Lancers are over. I have been coming here for years for the quality and VALUE of their food. No longer. Sandwiches used to be around $10-$11 and came with a cup of soup - now you have to separately order a cup of soup and it's $3.00. Today's chicken sandwich was $18.00 !!!!!!! WTF ?? This is a COFFEE SHOP! I just took my mom to lunch here - we shared the chicken sandwich and both had soup and an ice tea - with tip it cost me $50.00 - that is outrageous. There used to be a large amount of seniors eating here because they had lunch specials and early bird dinner specials - what happened to those?????? I feel bad for the elderly that counted on Lancers for daily meals, I'm sure they can't afford to eat here often any longer with these prices. I too will not be eating here any longer. My wife and I discovered this bar after many trips to Aldi, which is in the same lot. Very old-school and most people middle-aged or older. That's us. Everyone is super friendly, the bartenders are fantastic (shout out to Mel and Lori), and other custoners/regulars make us feel welcomed. It seems everyone knows each other, and they want to include you! Such a refreshing change! Drinks are inexpensive and don't be fooled by the exterior - the bar is cool. read more

It's inappropriate for a MANAGER to talk about her employees. It's unacceptable when she does this in front of customers. And, it's UNPROFESSIONAL when she bad mouths employees against each other. I won't be returning. The nail in the coffin was when my server showed me a pie as if it were still edible. It was MELTED!
