The salad while it is a house salad it is crisp fresh and green. You will see no brown so many restaurants these days serve brown salad. The main course cooked perfectly with all the sides. First of all service and servers are good, worth three stars but food worth zero. Stopped in for breakfast and was served absolutely awful food. May explain why the restaurant was mostly empty. The hash browns were limp and coated in grease, the scrambled eggs were on top of a lot of oil. My companion had a similar experience, an omelette than was also very greasy. I was a bit wary of the place as hadn't been in many years but understand new ownership and thought we would try it. Stopped by to Lancers Lounge section for Tuesday $17.99 Prime Rib dinner. Comes with soft buttered dinner roll, soup, salad. Ordered prime rib medium rare with baked potato and corn. Great portions for the price. Salad was watery at the bottom bowl, needed to be drained more thoroughly. Enjoyed the baked potato with sour cream and chopped green onions. Overall very good. Went to try and have a late night dinner with my daughter and her boyfriend. We checked what time they close and it says 11pm. Got there at 10:11pm and were told that they are closed. When we went out to Burbank on vacation, we went out to breakfast a couple of times. Lancers was definitely one of my favorites! The service was quick, it was nice and quiet inside, and the food was great. I ordered the Belgium Waffle with Strawberry topping. We were given a gift card bought from your own website yet your front people have struggled to accept it. Attached are the email from the original gifting (July 2022) and it's subsequent uses. You've accepted each time yet still don't get the concept of how your own cards worked! The attitude was unnecessary. Don't tell me it's comped this time but never again ,when you've ALREADY been paid , hence the gift card! If you've identified the gift cards as a scam, you should have taken the issue up with your site developer, or the company selling the cards. Why punish the people who bought or gifted the card to begin with as then they've been scammed as well? The service and food have really degraded. The outside has a unique turquoise/teal rooftop paint job that gives a retro-style vibe or some kind of old-style, slightly (or more than slightly) unkept vibe. The inside is clean and diner vibe-y. The overall taste of the food is where they take the biggest hit from my POV. Again, this is from my own palate & has a huge chance of being different from someone else's. I've had machaca from many different restaurants so I have a good handful of experience to compare from. Their version is the worst I've had. And that's not even to say it was THAT bad. I mean, ate it. I even cleared my plate (I was hungry and I don't, by habit, waste food). However, the meat was weirdly sticky and the onions and veggies sauteed with it had a mushy texture. And it wasn't adequately seasoned for my taste. I had to sprinkle a generous amount of salt and pepper on it along with pouring some salsa onto it (and that only helped a little bit)...and the beans and rice that came with it was also bland for my taste. I took a bite of their pancake--and again it was less than delicious which was weird because I don't think I've ever had "bad" pancakes before. And their breakfast burrito was okay, but the potatoes in it weren't seasoned which affected the overall taste of the burrito even though it had ham and bacon in it. The service was friendly and I have nothing negative to say about that. Overall, I hesitate to give a full recommendation, but I also just wanna say, if you're in the area and just want to try it for yourself to support a small business that's been a part of the city for a long time, please do. I saw the deal with the huge signs on the side of the building which say $18.99 prime rib special for Tuesdays along with their other specials for other days. I said that looks like a good price why not try it out. First time i went there already I could tell the customer service was complete garbage. Greeted in a very nasty rude way by the woman up front. i waited about 20.minutes for a server to come to the table. I had to flag someone down or they never would have come to our table. I gave this place the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe the woman up front had a bad day and the servers were overwhelmed, even though it didn't look like they were. I call them up on Monday which was the day before Christmas Eve to ask if they would have the Prime Rib Special the next day for $18.99 which was Tuesday and they assure me that they will have it from 8 am to 3 pm . I go back for Christmas eve which was on a Tuesday. Once again the woman up front greets us in a very rude and nasty way for literally no reason at all. She must really hate her life. We then eat the prime rib. Both were cold and not fully cooked. Then I look at the bill and its more than double the price at $30 each, not the $18.99 they told me it would be over the phone the day before. Now I don't mind paying $30 bucks, $50 bucks, or $150 bucks for a meal, but they told us the day before it would be $18.99 so we were told the wrong information. Then when we mentioned that they told us the wrong info the lady up front argued with us and said there was a sign outside. This was a lie because the sign only say Christmas day special prime rib with no price and the big sign on the side of the building still said $18.99 prime rib special Tuesdays. That woman is very very nasty and rude and should not be working there. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! on top of that the food was under cooked and cold. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. convenience is not worth being treated like an animal, neglected, argued with, lied to, and given under cooked food. I would rather eat at home or literally eat anywhere else. This is a perfect example of how to lose customers by hiring nasty rude people who know nothing about customer service. I've been here a few times recently and sat in various sections and served by various servers at various times of day. My experience can be hit or miss. Basic breakfast so far has been just ok. However, the Extraordinary French Toast is fantastic and I do recommend that as a stand out dish. Chicken strips are ehhh and I didn't like the peppers in the hashed browns. I haven't tried the prime rib, so I'll make sure to try that another time, but it looked good when I saw others order it. read more

Really wanted to like this place, since I drive by it all the time, but unfortunately it was one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. The beef stroganoff was absolutely horrible and inedible, seemed like it was reheated multiple times (the sauce) and it was completely bland and had an odd texture (like gelatin??). The beef was bland and rubbery. Mostly just a huge plate of noodles and in a weird sauce. The salad it came with didn't taste fresh. I usually don't send food back just because I don't like it but with this dish I really had to. It sucked to still have to pay for that dish after telling them that I honestly could not eat it. My girlfriend and I went in for a late breakfast. First off, it took a while to even order. We saw people seated after us order and get their food before us. Secondly, the hash browns were burned so they were sent back and in return we received almost raw hash browns. Next, the omelette was flavorless and cold. I have dined at Lancers since 1989: having enjoyrd breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also serve cocktails in their bar, which has its own entrance, should you 'just need a drink' and don't want to cut thru the restaurant lobby. Lancers underwent a massive 're -do' of the interior over the last couple of years, which was very much needed. Especially the restrooms, which appear to have been entirely new. As of March, 2022, they have almost finished: an employee told me the bar area is what is being completed now. They will also extend their closing time to 11PM when the remodel is finished. Lancers serves good food at an excellent value. The staff are pleasant, efficient and prompt. This is a type of eatery that is disappearing: and I recommend it. read more

I was eager to see the newly remodeled bar area and the ambiance didn't disappoint. Really nice feel...except one f the two large tv's was tuned to Fox News...best to keep politics out of a bar in my opinion. I ordered a Bloody Mary to start and it was absolutely horrible. Horse radish dominated the really weak tasting mix. I couldn't get more than a few sips into it before I gave up and ordered a beer. Unfortunately the newly remodeled bar only has two beers on tap. The bartender offered to make me another Bloody Mary with just tomato juice showing her complete ignorance about the drink... My egg's Benedict had perfectly done eggs, and decent sauce, but the English muffins seemed to be completely un toasted. Yuck. I asked for hash browns well done and got a huge lump of mushy potatoes. I tried to get through them with some Chalula, but was grossed out by how filthy and crusty the top of the bottle was. My wife got the breakfast burrito with a side of salsa. She got pico instead of salsa. She said the burrito was gross. Bland, dry, and it made her lose her appetite. This complete waste of a Sunday morning cost me $72. Never going back. read more

The french fries are crispy, the soup is piping hot. The food is excellent tasting however tonight just turned my smile into a frown. after a long day at work, you've expect to come into a diner and relax and feel at home because you're looking for that home-cooked meal and it's just not the same. I used to really enjoy this restaurant, especially after the interior was refurbished. We are (were) loyal local patrons. Fast forward to two Sundays ago. About 6:30pm. Hardly anybody in the restaurant. We sat in the back near the TV's. 10 minutes to take our drink order. 15 minutes to take our food order. 45 minutes to get our cold food. We got up to walk out when they finally brought the food. We explained to the girl at the register it was unacceptable. We were not blaming the waitress but the way the restaurant was being run. They apologized politely, saying they understood. But the damage had been done. We supported this place during the rough times. Not returning. read more
