The level of service has regressed CONSIDERABLY in the last 6-9 months. I've noticed a lot of turnover regarding their personnel in the service department. As a result, they have "rookies" in there and it shows. ...they don't call back their customers ...they don't answer their phones or return VM's ...they don't have insight into when your car will be ready. Use "should be" "might be" or "could be" ready a lot ...they bang on keyboards a lot but never have answers ...poor service from the second you drop off to pick-up I had to actually drive into the dealer to get an update on my vehicle for what was quoted as a 1 day service. After being told my car would be ready that day (it wasn't) I could not even get an update the following day. Will consider taking my car to another dealer... read more

Wow, what a great experience! To tell you the truth, I was dreading the car buying experience. But everyone at the dealership was so friendly, knowledgable, and honest. My salesperson was named Zabi and he didn't pressure me at all throughout the process. Was very helpful and even took me on an AWESOME test drive in the LR4 over a rock obstacle course they had set up. Most importantly, I was with my girlfriend and she was happy with the respect they showed both of us and we both feel like we got a good deal! It was also a pleasure meeting the GM, Nick, who was kind enough to give us a full tour of the store and invited us to all the events the dealership has including an off roading event which you can BET I'll be attending. I don't do a lot of these Yelp reviews, but I HIGHLY recommend this dealership if you are looking for a honest and fun car experience! I gave them 2 stars because they are an average place now. I have been going there for year, and since I can remember Fred Beatty has been my service advisor. Always friendly and honest I never had to worry about anything. Made me feel like I was his only client. But last time I went in they said "he is no longer here, moved to South America" I thought sounded strange, known him forever and he didn't even say goodbye? Does not sound right. So I called him a few days later. Turns out he's still around, right up the street at Corte Madera British,his own place! my car was still in the shop but my wife's BMW had an air conditioning problem and I asked him if he would take a look at that. Took it in, was fixed right away (for a fair amount less than dealer quote) and got is back same day, even gave her a loaner. read more

Just bought a car from Josh. The best experience purchasing and follow up. This is exactly how a car sale should go with any brand let alone a luxury one. I can compare since I originally went to a BMC in SF. Luckily didn't fall for all the old school tricks there. Emailed Josh over at Marin the next day and had a REASONABLE and TRANSPARENT offer within an hour. Josh took care of everything prior to our arrival and we were in and out in under 1.5 hours. My partner decided to buy a pre-owned 2011 Land Rover right before our trip to Yosemite. In fact, I believe he called it a 'slight detour'. Of course, I didn't jump for joy at this sudden shift in plans since ya know, time constraints, friends waiting for us, etc. Although it put a damper in my expectations initially, I did find the buying experience surprisingly pleasant, considering. I'll be honest - I'm not a huge fan of the auto buying process. In fact, it's something that I feel I need to mentally and emotionally prepare for. I prefer to walk into a dealership armed with well-researched data. It let's auto dealers know that I am an *informed* consumer ya know? However, my partner was less worried about being unprepared and more excited about the features and SHINY! For walking in unprepared on a Friday and out a few hours later, I'll admit, I happily stand corrected that you don't always get taken for a ride if you're not a weary consumer, ready for price battles and vehicle history queries. The title is clean. The car is pretty and runs with hiccups, and at 25,000 below the average odometer reading and for less than the blue book value, I'm a happy Glamper. The care Tom and David put into ensuring that we were clear about the value & financing did not feel like a forced death march into a money pit. In fact, they were impressively laid back about the whole thing. Anthony and Oscar also had their hand in making our buying experience congenial, 0 pressure, and just very comfortable. In less than 24 hours after we drove it off the lot, we piled in 6 people, 250 pounds worth of gear, and took the Black Beauty from Marin to Yosemite and then traversed through some dirt roads towards hidden hot springs in Mammoth. In the dark. She handled the entire escapade expertly. We even slept in it that night, next to a cave and opened all (3!) moon roofs to fall asleep gazing at a very bright moonlit sky. It felt like the right way to break in a New to Us Land Rover. I'm sure it's most likely the best camping accessory he's ever invested in thus far. HORRIBLE SERVICE EXPERIENCE! Before I get to the 1 star part of this review, 5 STARS to Rick Wheeler, our sales consultant for the purchase of our most recent Range Rover 2019. His professionalism and expert insight helped make the purchase process an easy, seamless one. If you want a positive experience, Rick is your man! Now to the 1 star rating: this is a lengthy review, but feel other Range Rover owners should be aware of our latest service experience. August 2019: our driver's side air bag warning light malfunctioned (our car is still under warranty). Took car in 8/19/19 and met with Nick (nice guy), a service advisor who told us the whole air bag module needed to be replaced + special ordered from the U.K. (not a stock item). He wasn't sure how long it would take to receive, maybe weeks. No loaner car available, so had no choice but to drive my car with the driver's side airbag totally inoperable until the module arrived. Fast forward to 3 weeks later: no word from Nick. Called Land Rover Marin (LRM), was told Nick no longer worked there but the module was already in (was anyone going to call us and follow up on our ongoing air bag issue?) Scheduled service appt. to bring the car in. Asked for a loaner, but told no loaner cars available now until 10/18/19, WOW! * DAY 1 - Mon 9/16/19. Car in for repairs in the a.m. Later in the day, we called Lori, Service Mgr. She tells us the module was installed, but they now needed to order a harness for it. * DAY 2 - Lori said besides the harness, now they needed to order a couple more parts: and was not sure when the car would be ready. * DAY 3 - Spoke to Lori, told her I need a loaner car ASAP since this is taking so long and they don't know when our car will be fixed. She tells me a loaner car was just returned a bit ago, one that they have on hand for these types of urgent needs. Hmmmmm. * DAY 4 - Lori said the car is still not ready as now the horn is not working. Told my husband over the phone she would call the next day (Fri) with an update. * DAY 5- Not only did Lori not call on Fri 9/20/19, she did not call Sat (LRM closed on Sun) nor the following Mon or Tues. * DAY 9- My husband calls Lori Tues 9/24/19 at around 4:30. Asked why we hadn't heard from her and she reiterated, they were very busy!! Said our car was being "put back together" and hoped it would be ready the next day, late morning. She would let us know. * DAY 10 - No call from Lori. * DAY 11 - Still no call from Lori. At 2:30 pm, I call and ask for Lori. Put on hold and then told she is busy but will call back in 30 mins. Lori does not call back until 4:25 pm. She tells my husband our car is ready to go! (if we hadn't called earlier, would she have even called us on this day?) And now we can come pick it up and by the way, it's been washed too! Like she did something special by having it washed for us? (it's a standard courtesy after servicing). I then got on the phone and had a very unpleasant conversation with Lori. Told her I could not believe it took 11 days of jumping through hoops, to try and find out the status of our car and that her inconsistent communication has contributed greatly to our frustrations with LRM. That she was also supposed to call us back 90 mins ago and she said ... well I'm sorry someone told you that, because that wasn't the case, that she had been very busy. Seriously? I then reminded her we didn't hear from her for 5 days, after she had promised to call with an update. So she mutters a half-hearted apology for not hearing from her because ... SHE JUST PLAIN FORGOT TO CALL US!! OMG, are you kidding me? Needless to say, I told Lori LRM just lost us as a customer due to her lack of concern and lack of both consistent communication & customer service skills, period. Lori's response: I believe I've apologized to you enough already! (re: the forgotten phone calls 5 days in a row) As if that should make everything all better? We've purchased 4 different Range Rovers from LRM since 2006, but suffice to say, we won't be going back anytime soon, thanks to Lori. As inconvenient as it is, think we'll head over to Land Rover San Francisco next time for any servicing issues. In the past, when we still lived in SF, we always had a positive experience there. A final "thumbs up" note. DAY 12: Contacted Rick Wheeler earlier in the day, told him I preferred not to interact with Lori when I came in to pick up my car. More kudos to Rick, for making sure Operations Director, Dominic Mancina took care of me personally that day. Dominic took the time to explain everything they had to do repair-wise and wanted to know if I had any questions or concerns. Kudos to Dominic for his time and attention to detail. read more

We bought a Discovery Sport late last year in this Marin dealership. Chris Thomas was the agent who helped us, very accommodating and patient. "Uncle" Oscar, in financing, was also straight forward with the prices and on going deals. The only hurdle we had was when we purchased the roof rail racks, and they installed it incorrectly. We noticed the roof leaking during heavy rain, and finally discovered the cause during the 10k service. We called Chris back, and he instantly helped us contact the service department to schedule an appointment. We give 5 stars for Chris' services! But 4 stars for the inconvenience of bringing the car back to have this fixed. Other than that, we love the car and the experience of purchasing here. read more

This is a long one but worth the knowledge! Think before you use the service department here. I've been a Land Rover owner for over 15 years, have dealt with other LR dealers (San Jose, Redwood City) and have never experienced the lack of Customer Service as I have here. I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned LR4 in Feb 15. I had my eye on another but got talked into getting one that was still under the "warranty". I was overall happy with my purchase and the people in the sales department. Fast forward to a few months later and I had to have it in to fix a few minor things that were not functional (top back sunroof cover latch, etc). Was told if it was because of wear and tear, it would not be covered. Needless to say, it was because I only had the car a few months at this point. How much wear and tear could possibly happen in that short amount of time. They blamed the clip and sent me on my way, a couple of miles down the street and over a little bump in the road and slam, it opens again. Gave up on that one. Another key disappointment on this service (first time) was I scheduled a loaner car, they didn't have any so drove me down to Enterprise Car Rental and dropped me off. I arrived in the office and was told they did not have any cars available. Called back to service to tell them and they acted like I was an inconvenience. Waited 30+ minutes to be picked up and was told no loaners were available. Had to take my car back and reschedule this visit, which ended in them doing nothing to fix the issue. A couple of months later I kept getting low battery alerts on the dash when I would be loading groceries, kids, etc. Anytime the door was open for longer than a minute or two, I would get that alert. Finally after dealing with it for a few months we went out and purchased a new battery (same battery type that came with the car originally). I still to this day have that alert come on. It has been happening since we purchased the car, new battery and still happens. Something is wrong here. They don't care. October comes around 8 MONTHS after I purchase and I find I have 2+ FEET of water sitting on the passenger floor after the first heavy rain since ownership. I clean out as much as I can and call service. Was told I couldn't get in for 9 days (even though I told the girl scheduling on the phone my car had sitting water). I couldn't take this for an answer so found another local shop that works strictly on LRs. Was told there was a kink in the sunroof drain, he repaired that and did as much cleanup as possible. My husband called to find out what we need to do to get this fixed, he was told to call Land Rover North America to see if they would "participate" in the repair. Oh the warranty, it doesn't cover "clogged" sunroof drains but would cover kinked. We were told to bring it in to get diagnosed and depending on the results it was possible to be fixed under warranty. After a week of being in the shop I heard that they will not cover because they said there was no evidence of any kinking or repairs and said the other side was clogged. There is no way in the short amount of time I had ownership that had happened. I fully believe that it was clogged (and KINKED) when I purchased the car. Sales manager called, said he would talk the GM. Never received any other call. When picking up "stinky" I continue to get the low battery alerts and was told it was due to the water damage! These issues have been happening since the car was new to me and now I feel like everything that might happen down the road is going to be blamed on water damage, like that was my fault to begin with! Come to find out the other local LR shop I went to is an ex employee of LR Marin and they have bad blood. The key takeaways are this: Horrible customer service. Unapologetic for anything!! They act like we "customers" are inconveniencing them with our "problems". Rude comments, accused me of lying, made snarky remarks when I would ask questions. I would just like to have my 30K+ car not smell like a toilet and not have my children get sick from black mold!!!!! For a dealership that sells top of the line cars, the service department are as bad as you can get. Pick wisely! read more

We came up all the way from San Jose with an appointment with An P. to look and buy a Range sport and he was no where to be found. My bf was the to be purchaser and conversed with An during the week so this appointment didn't come by surprise. No phone call or anything to let us know he wouldn't be available let alone the range we wanted to buy was sold "2 minutes" before we got there. Another sales associate helped us and he was extremely courteous however we were disappointed and left. We will not be heading back to this location. We have been to Land Rover in Walnut Creek in which we purchased our last Range Sport and had a very pleasant experience there. read more

WORST service dept ever!!! I called in early morning on Saturday to check and see if they have my tire available because I got a flat tire the day before. I didn't want to drive my car around with spare tire when it's raining. The person who picked up the phone was helpful and told me the size of my tire is available; and I can bring the car in to get it changed. I brought my car in around 11 and waited about 15 minutes to get helped. Because I have a tire warranty, I told the service advisor to contact the warranty and see if it will cover. He told me I can wait for about a hour to get the tire change, but I ask for shuttle ride to nearby to have a lunch while waiting. NO shuttle on Saturday!!! I Uber to nearby and received a call a hour later and said my warranty will cover my tire and they are going to replace it now. 45 minutes later, he called back again and told me they don't have the brand of tire my car used... almost 2 hours wait, and they told me to go back and get my car back and waited for three days for the tire to arrive. I asked for a loaner car because I can't drive with spare tire when i know it will rain in the next few days. NO loaner car!! Wtf..... I waited almost 2 hours and all I got is to ask me to go home with my spare tire and wait.. what kind of dealership when my car is a very common car they sell in their shop with no tire in stock?!!! Bad and rude service and I have to cross the bridge to bring my car over when they said they have my tire in stock. BAD BAD BAD service I ever been to!! read more

The service at Marin Landrover has never been great. It's been hit and miss over my many years of Landrover ownership. This time however they tried to overcharge me and lied. After leaving my car for service I got the inevitable call that there was a problem. "Worn bushings on the front lower control arm". Need to replace the control arms and bushings $2750. I decided to call around to educate myself on this repair and discovered via the other Official Landrover Dealers that in fact my 2015 model you can change out only the bushings not the very expensive control arms they are serviceable. When I reported this back and asked for a new price I was told they don't recommend doing that, the cost for labor would be higher even though the parts were less so thats the way they do it. I asked for the price and it was higher $2950. Each of the bay area dealers gave me a price that was lower from $1600 - 2200all including alignment . Landrover Marin y told me they would match any official landrover dealer pricing so I sent them the quote from Coles in Walnut Creek. They then refused to do that. They are not to be trusted they tried to up charge the repair I don't even know if the bushings are truly worn there was no knocking and no sign they were not performing - they are not to be trusted and their promise to match dealer pricing is a lie. How incredibly short sighted. I have had 5 Landrovers - definitely not buying my next one from them. Perhaps they are too busy to care but this will catch up on them and given the many negative reviews I have now read about them I guess it has already started. No doubt the I'll get the usual response from the service manager or general manager which looks like a cut and paste on each poor review. If you don't care about customer service and how much money you spend this is the group for you. Embarrassing for Landrover. read more

Got totally ripped off by this dealer. Brake sensor came on indicating pads had to be replaced. Dealer replaced rotors also which was not necessary than charged almost $3000 for the brake repair which should have been at the most $1200 just to replace the pads. the dealer also performed a wheel alignment after mounting new tires which had never been requested. Overcharged for the mounting and the wheel alignment. Take your vehicle somewhere else! In addition we were charged for a rental car after waiting a month for an appointment. I have had many expensive vehicles from Mercedes, Porsche, and Audi and have never never never been charged for a rental car. read more

I purchased 2 Land Rovers from this group in the spring of 2017 and had an easy and courteous experience with the sales team. In 2018 we took our RR Sport in for service at another Land Rover dealer. They informed us, the front skid plate was missing. I then recalled, The vehicle was on display in Marin on their 4x4 hill and they must have removed it to avoid scratching it. I have tried since December to contact Brett Seasel the GM to get this resolved. HE REFUSES to return my phone calls. He did after approximately 45 days and 3 calls have another team member contact me, apologize and say she would resolve it. It's been 30 days and now she won't call me back either. Still not resolved. Clear there is an endemic problem within this organization and their failure to manage the needs of the customers. read more

They keep listing a car on craigslist and autotrader that they supposedly SOLD a week ago. Called ahead and was told the car IS there, then get there to find out its sold 2 days earlier. That was a week ago and they're still listing it on craigslist everyday. They're lying to people to get them to come into their dealership. Not a good way to do business! read more

Land Rover Marin, or Marin Luxury Cars as the group is called (Located in the San Francisco Bay Area) are to be avoided. I think the guys in service are compensated based on services sales. I can't think of other reasons for the very questionable activities I've experienced and witnessed. Service aside issues aside, with the price of gas these days, at 8mpg actual mileage and an engine that blows up after 54,000 miles, DON'T but one of these trucks!! My Story: I brought my Land Rover Discovery in for an engine check light at 54,000 miles - days later I'm told I need a new engine and they won't cover it under warranty. 10K they want for it. Kicker is, I later find out that they never did the original oil change I brought it in for at 6000 miles. They still won't take any responsibility. Never mind that after paying top money for a top quality brand I would expect the engine to last at least as long as every other competitve product out there. BMW, Infinity, even Hyundai offer better warranties on their SUVs and stand behind their products. And here's the most disturbing part of the story. As I sat in the service area of Land Rover of Marin a lady pulled up in a beautiful, new, blue Aston Martin with complaints of some engine noise. The service guy and the service manager I was dealing with looked at each other, smiled, said to each other "it might need a new motor, ka-ching", looking all smug and happy. I couldn't believe it. I was horrified. Now I can't know for sure if the Land Rover Marin guys did the same thing to me..... but I certainly don't trust them. And It's disturbing to know that after only 54,000 miles a perfectly running car with an engine check light all of a sudden turns into needing an entire new engine! This was my second Land Rover, but between the 8 miles to the gallon it gets, the quality issues I've had with my second Land Rover, and all of the horror stories I've heard about other owners with simillar engine replacements just over the warranty 50,000 mile with no help from Land Rover Marin or Land Rover North America, I'll never own one of these again. Land Rover and Jaguar are now owned by Tata I believe, an Indian company. With all the turnover in ownership these brands have had over the past 10 years it's no wonder the quality is so bad. read more

I'm a big fan of Land Rover vehicles, having driven them now for the better part of 20 years, with no notable problems with any of the vehicles I have owned. I have been to 4 different Northern CA dealers for sales and service experiences, and have had mixed experiences. After two purchases at SF's British Motors, I was shown little respect as a return customer, and have moved on to Land Rover Marin for my purchase needs. The dealer is farther from my home (but not far), and I have had very positive and painless sales experiences in Marin. I will continue to use their sales team down the road if more Land Rovers are in our future. 4 stars for sales. I'm less impressed with the service side of the operation, however. My recent experience was uninspiring, starting with the designated staff I was to check-in with being on a personal call for 8min or so while I waited to drop my car off for my appointment. After the staff quoted me a price, and I signed the documents, he claimed something was omitted and tried raising the price upon my return for the vehicle. This was an equipment install, not a repair, so there was no 'unexpected' problem that showed up. Communication was lacking when I expected to hear about the status of my vehicle, never got a returned call, etc. I gave L R Marin's service team a chance, but back to British Motors I will go for service ONLY, as their team has never been anything but spot-on perfect over the course of my many visits over the years. L R Marin service gets 2 stars in my book, and its unlikely I will be back for service or equipment installs. read more

Terrible service department. Been trying to get in for 2 months due to a gearbox failure on my 2017 Range Rover Sport. They never call me back and every time I connect with someone there they never have a loner car available for warranty work. The vehicle is riddled with problems too. Random warning lights for ABS, the gearbox failure (that I had to tear apart the car and do a full system reset with their techs on the phone), and the cup holders pop out anytime you put a drink in them and pick it up. For $73,000 they sure treat you like bottom of the barrel. I'd never recommend this dealership to anyone based on their service department. read more
