Don't judge a book by its cover. And that It's not a compliment. Today we walked in close to 11:30, waiter greet us cool no problem, brought us water. Place was empty only a couple was eating when me and my husband arrived. Like 5-10 minutes later a family of 4 comes in and sits on the booth behind us and the waiter greets them and right away goes up to them to take their order, when me and my husband were their first. So they need to put a system in place to know how to take orders In order. But who am I to tell them how to do their job. Or maybe just have common courtesy. We finally order and get our food and the filet minon meat was thick to chewey and added to much noodles on my opinion for a regular size pho. Broth lacked seasoning. Food was ok. Took food to-go. So delicious even at home! Spring rolls, vegan egg rolls (just like my grandma used to make!), Bo kho with noodles (day after still so delicious and flavorful), and crab fried rice. This is a very cute restaurant. We went for lunch on a weekday so the dining room was empty but it was a brisk takeout business. The server was friendly and quick. I had the spicy beef noodle soup and my husband had bahn mi. The beef noodle soup came filled with all different kinds of meat but it was the broth and the noodles which stood out. The soup was clean and flavorful and the noodles were bouncy and chewy. The sandwich came with jalapeños and a delicious dipping sauce. The food was great and the service wonderful. Ordered a pho combo along with spring rolls. Brought it to go and then noticed when I cut open the spring rolls to remove the cucumbers, I noticed a long strand of hair inside one of the rolls. Immediately I was appalled and lost my appetite. I called the restaurant to let them know, they said they would replace the spring rolls, but now I cannot eat comfortably without double checking inside each of the spring rolls or just decide to no longer order spring rolls from here. Really happy we stopped here! Cannot recommend the egg coffee enough, it's SO good. Iced Thai tea, Vietnamese steak & eggs, and the pho broth are also super good. Now this appetizer isn't for everyone but really enjoyed everything about it. Next I messed around with a couple of their bowls. First up was their Pho which came with a couple of different meats swimming in savory bone broth. It was good but I really liked the next bowl which was the banh canh. Now the one came with udon noodles, pork and shrimp in a rich savory broth. As you know I can't take spicy but I still enjoyed it. To end this filling adventure that left me kinda girthy! LoL! I had the mango with sticky rice to complete the trip. The service was on point and the aesthetics are really eye pleasing. The parking is a bit challenging but other than that it's all good. Im a picky person, take my review with a grain of salt. Eaten here 3 separate times. It's an okay pho spot. I don't believe it's worth the prices they charge. My favorite thing was the pork bahn mi, but they served it on this super small tray (below). Like, why serve a sandwich on this little side tray? Because it's cute? Who cares, just wrap it in paper like Lee's, I dont like making a mess on the table. The bo kho was actually quite nice, the baguette was probably the best bread I've had in a while and the soup was pretty good. Only complaint on bo kho was it got cold kinda fast, I dunno, guess it just wasn't very hot coming out or maybe I'm a slow eater, could be on me. And the actual pho is just alright. The pho feels lacking in some way, like it leaves you wanting more, somethings missing in it. Also, is this place trying to cater to everyone but asians? Wheres the tray that has the hoisin sauce? The sriracha? The chili paste? The napkins? The soup spoons? Why aren't these on the table already? Why do I gotta ask for chopsticks at a Vietnamese restaurant? I'm just saying, every viet spot I've been to, chopsticks right there. Also not a fan of this whole "modern" ambiance, but thats subjective. I give 3/5 but out of 10 I'd say 6.5/10. I was wondering why there wasn't the pork roll in the BBH but it was listed as a meat on the menu. The owner said she had a new cook and they forgot it. I truly don't think they forgot it cause how you forgot one of the main meats for BBH, they definitely tried to skimp and save money until I pointed it out and they brought it out after. The eggrolls were good though but pricey ($8.5 for 3 rolls so each one was $2.80 which is overpriced) Typically, eggroll comes with fish sauce to dip it in but they served it with sweet chili dipping sauce... that's when I knew this place was catered for white people. Ain't no viet place serves it with sweet chili dipping sauce.... For all of these high reviews, they must be on something or they got bad taste buds lol. Food Good, service as expected, ambiance nice. The down fall was when I observed a worker possibly manager ( middle aged, all other workers were young adults.) Used a towel that is used to wipe down the tables,accidently dropped it on the floor, picked it up and proceeded to use that same towel wiping down the table.
