LaPorta's deserves five stars on all counts -quality of pizza and other menu items, service, prices, location, etc. I used to live around the corner so I grew up coming here and once I went to college and joined clubs, I convinced my clubs to use LaPorta's for club events on campus. They were reliable and we always were told by club members how great the pizza and wings were. Now that I'm a working gal, I come here pretty often to grab a slice of pizza or a salad on my way home from work. Personal favorites: any of the veggie slices that they have on display -they are always fresh and when heated up, they don't stand a chance against other fast food places. Just delicious. Also personal pan pizzas are so great -you can get any topping you want! Their chef salads are also a good menu choice -very big and full of the freshest lettuce and topped off with tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots and cheese. The wait time is always reasonable at LaPorta's, too. For a personal pan pizza, your average wait time is ~25 minutes. To get a slice heated up to go is ~5 minutes. Pat, the owner, is friendly, accommodating and quick to strike a deal with you if you become a regular for catering to a club or event (i.e. tax break). Scott is always great, too. Quick to know your name and greet you when you walk in. If you come here to sit down and eat, service is again exceptional. I don't expect there to be waiter service at neighborhood pizza joint, but they insist on coming over with your food and bussing the table afterwards. They do a great job keeping an eye on your table, too, in case you're looking for a fork or napkins. read more

I can never figure out why some people are absolutely in love with Buffalo's pizza, myself growing up with New York THIN crust. La Portas I think combines what most people consider to be good pie in this town with a touch of NYC. All their pizzas are good and I also think their chicken wings are some of the best in town! So this goes only for the pizza. This place probably my favorite pizza place in Buffalo. The thin crust pizza is really good. Good acidity in the sauce without being overwhelming and a good balance of flavors. The pie is not waiting to be heated.. .it is made from scratch when you order it. The pepperoni can be a bit salty but overall... it's really good. Be prepared to wait a bit; as mentioned, their pies are just waiting around to be ordered. read more

I absolutely love LaPorta's. The food is wonderful (Minus the soup, although I may have just gotten an off batch. It was a tad watery and tasted like Cup o' Soup.) and the portions are huge. They're 5 minutes away from my work, so we often order from them for lunch, dinner and parties. They always deliver within the specified/acceptable time. They accept all the major credit cards. I've never had a bad experience when going into the restaurant or with a delivery driver. They've also donated gift certificates for our fundraisers that are near and dear to our hearts and also help support local organizations; i.e. The WNY Alzheimer's Association Chapter. They're pepp and cheese pizza is great. I love they're dough. Not too sweet or salty and not too thick or thin, just right in the middle. They're sauce isn't super sweet or chunky and they always load it with cheese. And I'm a huge cheese lover, so major bonus points. They serve Coke products, but I'm willing to look past this because Pat LaPorta is very nice and his restaurant serves incredibly good food. read more

I go here at lunchtime for slices regularly. I've been developing more of a preference for thin crust pizzas in the last couple of years, and while this isn't really a New York City style thin crust, it is thinner than a typical Buffalo pizza. They reheat the slices in the pizza oven which give the crust that slight crispyness. The flavors of the sauce and cheese blend perfectly. I'm a fan. There is a small but comfortable sit-down area and you can even order bottled beer here. And as another reviewer stated, the owners always seem to be on premises which is great. To me, this is how it should be done. The presence of the owner will usually ensure a good experience. Leaving the business to be run by a bunch of 17 year old kids with no supervision (Ahem ... LT's) will almost always result in a chaotic headache of an experience. So kudos to the owners of La Portas for being hands-on. Also, the subs at La Portas are very good. read more

Pizza perfection, in my humble opinion. I would drive for miles to get a LaPorta's pizza. Luckily, growing up, i didn't have to. LaPorta's pies aren't for everyone... very cheesey, very powder-y dough, not too much sauce.... but I was practically raised on them. They have your standard pizzeria fare on the menu... wings, fingers, fries, sandwiches, calzones. I've had pretty much everything in my thirty years, and i've never had a complaint. Was excited to try their deep dish pizza and ordered tonight via grub hub. I ordered 2 hours in advance it it was immediately delayed 30 minutes. I love this place. The food is good and I go often, several times a month. This is an owner operated place and they have a good, consistently helpful staff, and lots of drivers who come and go. Pizza delivery is a part-time job. I have eaten the pizza, fish dinners and subs. The portions are good and the price reflects their work. Table service is OK when you are a frequent flyer, for sure, but when BOB is waiting tables you have the happy attitude and funny stories! I have never ordered for home delivery before today and I was pleased with the guy who showed up in a reasonable amount of time on another COLD day during SPRINGTER here in Buffalo! When you have a chance - give them a chance. I was unhappy to see these reviews and I have not had that experience that the other reviewers had. read more

Worst service ever !!! I've used them and had food delivered 3 times now the first time the food came 3 hours after I ordered and it was freezing cold .. The second time I ordered it took 2 hours and the forgot the wings so when I did get them they were freezing and nasty . And now tonight I ordered again ... Stupid me !!! I ordered a large pizza with double cheese and pepperoni that ended up coming with the crust full of air bubbles and hardly any cheese , a buffalo chicken Stromboli which wasn't too bad but I've had better and a salad that was forgotten ... The delivery guy went back to get it and came back 45 minutes later with a salad that looked like it was picked out off the trash !!! It was lettuce and croutons !! I then called up and asked for my card to be credited since it wasn't what I ordered and the manager said that the only way I would get a credit is if he sent someone back to retrieve his crap salad ... I said are you kidding me ... And he said why would I give you a free salad ... I have never complained about a business before and I am a chef myself ... But I will never ever buy food from this poorly run establishment with below average food again !! I hope this helps people and you call a business that the food isn't overpriced wanna be Italian !! Second time ordering...Food is overpriced and very small portions. Costs $2.50 extra if you want fries with your chicken fingers. Chicken fingers without fries. 9.99 which is ridiculous! They are very stingy on not only lettuce when it comes to salads, but with every other item that makes up the salad. No onion or cucumbers in any of the salads, grated Parmesan instead of fresh Parmesan. Overall, very disappointed in this place. Will never order from again. read more

It's nearly the end of January, my family of four has been consciously watching our diets since the New Year with lbs loss success. After a long week of school and work in the grey dismal atmosphere of sleeting rain wintery snow mix and wintertime blues, we desperately longed for a regular Buffalo food cheat day. The warm cozy comfort that only comes from a bucket of wings and pizza. Salad wasn't going to cut it today! We all needed a break. The mgr on duty customized the order exactly to our tastes and desires. He took the time to care about our food and how delicious our dinner would taste. A+! Excellent! The wings and pizza were perfect. Hot, crispy, cheesy and flavorful. Just what we wanted. Great customer service and good food. Just picked up a Large Cheese and Pepperoni, order was ready on time fresh and hot...it looked fantastic! Tasted like crap, crust was dry and tasteless, the sauce was just so so and the cheese although abundant was horrible, it tastes like plastic. The only thing good about this pie was the temperature and the pepperoni. I think the problem is that they use very cheap ingredients...did I mention that the cheese was awful?
