Just when I had the chance to personally come to Sausalito, I came with the entire group from the ARC for an excursion. Whenever we came inside, I saw few tiki masks on the right hand side of the wall. Made me think I came here after a long hot day, but in a breezy springtime in Sausalito? Perhaps I should've go for a warm cup of Kona coffee, but ice cream was what I came here for. Alot of flavors to choose from; there's never a need to sample since I know which ones are familiar. I had the Cookies and Cream (blue colored which I personally like, mix of cookie dough and oreo) and the Kauai Pie (coffee, macadamia). Both were yummy andthe scooos were big, maybe more than enough, for one person. I didnt find any other flavors that were particularly exciting to get, but the Kauai was their popular according to the staff. Lappert's Ice Cream is THE ice cream hot spot in Sausalito as they are located right by the bustling waterfront with many tourists lining up for their scoops. It's hard to pass up getting ice cream at Lappert's on a nice sunny day in Sausalito, and you definitely won't walk very far without seeing someone eating an ice cream from Lappert's. Each time I have come here, there is a line and a lot of people around. I came here last weekend, and even during social distancing times, it was hard to get much space because there were so many people around. Luckily, most people were wearing masks. I ordered The Mayor's (Tom Theodore's) Creation, which was espresso ice cream, salted caramel, and chocolate chunks. The ice cream was pretty good overall, but the espresso ice cream really lacked coffee or espresso flavor. It tasted like regular ice cream with caramel and chocolate chunks. Also, I wanted a sugar cone, but the worker put my scoop on a regular cone. I just wish the espresso ice cream would have more espresso flavor and that the worker would clarify what type of cone the customer wants. I tried sitting at one of their outdoor tables, however, there were so many people standing too close, so I got up and left and went to eat by the waterfront. While visiting San Francisco on a day tour boat we made a stop in Sausalito. The area is very small, quaint full of life with enjoyable places such as Lappert's Ice Cream. I hadn't eaten my dinner yet but I saw long line out front so why not? It must be worth it? Considering the length of the line everything moved quickly as they were quite a few staff members working to expedite the line. The inside was clean and brightly decorated. When it came to the ice cream there were so many choices. By the time I waited in line I could narrow down the possibilities then ask about the ice cream once I reach the counter. I thought my mind was made up however when I reached the counter I found an item that wasn't readily listed among the ice cream on this day. Because I hadn't eat my dinner and would like to cut calories or sugar where I can I found kona mocha chip ice cream that was sugar-free. Ah-ma-zing!!! We were so excited to find this Lappert's because it's our favorite place on Kauai and Maui. Of course we had to get our traditional Kona coffee in a waffle cone. What was even more exciting was we got to chat with the owner Michael, whose great-grandfather is the original owner Mr Lappert. He was so sweet. The line was long but went by really fast (so don't be intimidated by it). Flavors are TO-DIE-DELICIOUS as usual! The waffle cones are so fresh and good. Perfect touch with their ice cream. The flavors here, I don't even know how to describe how perfect they are. The Kona coffee isn't strong, isn't too sweet, it's refreshing and hits the spot every time.
