Everyone was so attentive to detail and very sweet. The tacos were very good I would recommend their chorizo and egg.

My only issue with my visit was the service. Had the service been better I would have given more stars. We waited a long time, the check came and was covered in cheese sauce, the only reference to me getting another beer was when I was finished with my meal ...... For the price the food was very good. I wouldn't say it was excellent. I had enchiladas in a pablano crime sauce. The sauce was good but there really was no invitation of pablano being anywhere near the sauce. Not very attentive wait staff, the taste of the food reminds me of the cafeteria food in school when they would make enchiladas on Thursdays... good for school lunch, but not what I would describe as delicious. If I could give a zero-star review, I absolutely would. This is the worst dining experience I have ever had... To start with, three of our four meals were brought to the table incorrectly Two were sent back (and the third, my mother, bless her, refused to send back). One meal wound up not coming out until the other three of us had completed our meals. When we walked in, the not-busy restaurant seemed to go into a slight panic at four new customers arriving. The salsa presentation was disgusting; spilled over the side of the dish and partly on the table (the food was nothing pretty enough to photograph, and didn't taste good enough to warrant comment). We had four people at our table and spent over half an hour with no chips while waiting on meals to be replaced after they made their mistakes. It took asking for the new basket of chips to get them. The waitress was made aware we had restaurant.com gift certificates and she said that they would be fine. Restaurant.com itself said upon point of sale that the waitress would be able to validate the codes. The waitress informed the manager, as our ticket was very high, that we had intended on paying with $50 in gift certificates. The manager was rude, young, and started yelling how they had to confirm with the owner. She claimed that the restaurant.com certificates were not possibly real because they were not printed on computer paper. However, we know better; having successful used these certificates on a smart phone in the past. The manager also tried to claim that they did not have any gift certificates available at all (online or otherwise) despite the sign on the wall behind her, after about half an hour of arguing including a member of the family offering to go home and print a physical copy of the gift certificate for her (two members of my family live only about ten minutes away). At this point, the manager called the owner to show up, and the restaurant was nearly closed. When my family left me to sit inside, so that they may get some fresh air, while waiting for the owner to show up, I stayed with the check at the front. I could hear the manager mocking and bad mouthing my family while they were outside. She was making large exaggerated comments and body movements while walking between the dining room and the kitchen as if I wasn't there; I don't believe she noticed me. She was blatantly making fun of my family and joking at that point about having my family arrested for not wanting to pay and looking forward to laughing in our faces when 'we did pay'. When the owner arrived this manager blatantly lied about activating the codes for the gift cards from restaurant.com, and they all said because the certificates were not printed, they were not real. It was pointed out that the manager was clearly lying, but this was pointless, as the manager went off the handle about the whole situation. Ultimately, the owner did take some money off of the check-- but did not agree to actually honor the gift certificates, and asked my family to never return to the restaurant. We all agreed we would never bother at a place with such horrible customer service in the first place. We will be seeking full reimbursement from restaurant.com as the location refuses to honor their own gift certificates. Having multiple family members who have been in the restaurant and service industries for much of their lives, the service here was extremely poor, especially for the cost; which, was over $10 a plate, not including drinks, which were a bit above the cost of an area bar. Alternately, if you are craving Mexican/Tex-Mex-- I would recommend driving to Gruene (Adobe Verde, Cantina del Rio) or New Braunfels (Mamacita's)... and if you're not picky, Startz Cafe makes a decent burger (American; not often open), or trying Bare Bull BBQ (fabulous brisket) or Gennaro's Trattoria (Italian, very good) if you must stay on the lake for dinner. read more

Came with family of 4, 30 minutes before closing. I had chicken fajitas. They were cooked tender and juicy as were the veggies. The party ate all of their meals completely. Our server (recent HS graduate) was friendly and as we were new to the area, she spent time talking about the local area and places to visit. Great value. We are coming back again. read more

We visited this restaurant while on vacation as it was close to our lodge. We weren't too hopeful based on the appearance and the reviews. Our waitress was very attentive. The margaritas were pretty good. We were pleasantly surprised by the food. It was great. The Queso was very mild and smooth. Not spicy but good nonetheless. I had cheese enchilada (with Chile gravy) and a puffy taco and they were both good. My husband, son and daughter enjoyed their food as well. Amazing food and service. We came in right about closing time, our server Rachel was super sweet and willing to serve us anyway. I enjoyed a sponge Bob margarita while the cooks made us fajitas. Stopped on the way back from camping at Canyon Lake. It was very convenient. It was Sunday morning and hardly anyone was there. We all ordered coffee and it came out promptly. The server with the neato hat had excellent manners, was very patient with our ordering, and refilled our coffees right on time. I ordered the usual: bean and cheese on corn, side of papas, cilantro, and lime. Two of them came and were perfect and delicious and huge and I was so full! It looks like they have lots of seating as well as a margarita machine - will have to try it out next time! read more

I have never sat and ate at a table here, however my boyfriend and I order To-Go from here pretty often. I have had only ONE experience where we waited for a long time to even get noticed up at the front and then I was missing a taco from an order. Despite this, I want to mention that they were extremely busy that night. Every other time we've been, the customer service is great and the food is 100% correct and delicious! We always have to get some extra green salsa with our order- it's too good to pass up! Just important to keep in mind that there is a gratuity charge for To-Go orders. Excellent food. My husband had the burrito and said that it's the best that he's had in the hill country. My flautist were very good and not overcooked at all, and the charro beans were very tasty. "Just try it, you might like it." This was the most bewildering restaurant experience I have ever had. My friends and I were looking for a quick bite to eat while staying in town. The parking lot was full, so we figured this was a good spot to try! Man, we're we wrong. We should have left when we walked in the restaurant! Three waitresses looked at us but refused to volunteer to seat us. It took us several minutes to be spoken to, and several more to get a seat. We ordered quickly and the back room was still full of several large parties. The problems continued when our waitress helped everyone but us. We could see our food sitting in the kitchen window and could hear the "order up" bell ringing, but none of the other workers or the manager was willing to bring it to us. When it did come to our table, we got THE MOST BIZZAR ENCOUNTER I've ever experienced. My friend ordered shrimp fajitas.... they brought her shrimp stuffed jalapeños. The waitress admitted that they messed up the order and my friend even said that she would eat it... as long as she wasn't charged for something she didn't order. The waitress responded with "well, I can't just give it to you for free." So you're more willing to throw away food you messed up, rather than give it to a customer that didn't order it? We ate quickly, even though they messed up two more of our orders on a smaller scale. However, this crazy encounter continued! When the clock hit 9:30, the music in the kitchen was cranked and they started cleaning every table around us. There was a whole empty section of the restaurant they could have cleaned if they wanted to get a head start, but they chose to clean right next to us. The hostess and bus boy began splitting their tips right next to our table and they were almost sweeping under our feet. We finally had to get up to leave when they asked for our sugar/spice rack from our table. WE WERE STILL EATING! It was obvious that they were ready to close up and were pushing us out. They've guaranteed that we will never return and will continue to tell this twilight zone of a customer service story to anyone visiting the city in the future. read more

Bad service. Wrong food order at least 4 times. I liked the food so I kept giving it a shot even though my dad said he got food poisoning there. The first time we ate here, it was pretty good. Have been back several times and it seems to be getting worse each time. Took a long time to get our food, and they were not very busy. About the only thing that was really good was the salsa, which was spicy and had great flavor. I ordered puffy tacos, which are supposed to be just that, puffy and light. They were over-cooked to where they were hard and crunchy, and very greasy. My husband ordered a bowl of chili, which was over $5.00. It was a small bowl for the price, and tasted like carne guisada gravy, in fact he found a chunk of carne guisada in it, so it was far from a bowl of chili and tasted terrible. When he complained to the waitress about the chili, she just shrugged her shoulders and seemed to not really care. I also don't like the cheese they use. It is American, and not cheddar or colby, so it has that funky fake cheese taste. After looking them up online to write this review, I see a lot of people have gotten food poisoning here. That doesn't surprise me. They had a huge container of chips sitting out on the same cart as they had dirty dishes piled up underneath. Pretty bad, and we won't go back. read more

I don't understand the bad reviews. I almost didn't even try this place due to the reviews and from what I heard other locals say about the place. I would dare to call myself a connoisseur of Mexican food, and this place met my expectations. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but definitely worth a try. The service was good and friendly. I didn't have to wait long. If I wanted fast food, I would go to a fast food restaurant. I'd rather wait for fresh food than be served quick stale fast food. Also, it is not out of the ordinary to find a potato in your Mexican food. That does not mean it was half eaten. Unless I found teeth marks in it, I would not make the assumption that it was half eaten. The chips and salsa were outstanding, as well as the tortillas. Been here 3 or 4 times and the food is extremely average depending on when you show up. In the evening im sure its alot better but lunch usually has some elements of slacking to it. Well, it started out well, and I still like the chips and salsa. However, it seems like the are starting to skimp on ingredients. I ordered a Torta and had to send it back. That said, the service is usually very good (Sunday afternoon is always busy) and the place is clean and nicely decorated, which puts it way above most of the places around here, so I'll be back. I updated this to 4 stars as I find the chicken fajita plate to be consistently fabulous! Also, the chicken fajita nachos look amazing. Tons of chicken and none of that fake cheese.
