I love Mexican food...especially chips and salsa. For me a meal at a Mexican restaurant is not complete without the ubiquitous chips and salsa. Las Casuelas takes it one step further and includes a yummy hot bean dip. Mmmm Their super burrito is bigger than a person's head! It seriously extends the length of the plate! I kid you not. Went with the family on a Saturday night. Wait wasn't too bad, approx 30 min before we were seated. Waited it the bar area and had a few beers before our table was ready. The bar area was nice, completely secluded from the dining area. The bartender was very friendly and good at her job. The main dining room was very spacious and seems almost most of the tables are booths. We were helped by multiple people and the service was really good. The food came out super fast and drinks were constantly refilled. Overall it is a clean place with nice decor. Now the food.. My son and I both had the super burrito with carne asada and red sauce on top. The burrito wasn't bad but probably would not order again. Wasn't much flavor to it, very plain. Other meals on the table were asada tacos, asada quesadilla and a chicken chimichanga. I tried a little of everything, again with all of it, good not great. Finally for desert we had the deep fried ice cream. Don't waste your money with this one. Final thoughts.. We would eat there again, but would probably go there more for the bar and chips and salsa. read more

I have been here a ton of times and don't know why I haven't written a Yelp review for this place...to me this is a real hidden gem out here in Turlock, Ca. The chips and salsa they have ahead of time is so good and just the right amount of spicy. They also serve a bean dip as well but that is not my favorite...that's just a personal thing with refried beans because anyone I have been here with thinks it is really good. They have daily lunch specials which are a really good deal and they do not skimp on any portions. Also I must add they unlike a lot of other places don't gauge people on beer prices. $4.50 for a negro modelo is a great price and that's for their tall. I personally have not had a bad meal here and my personal favorites are the chili verde, carnitas and their street tacos are really good as well. Plus each meal is not complete without their homemade guacamole to start. Personally I think it is really hard now days to find really good Mexican food at a sit down restaurant. This place has it all great food, service, selection and location. If you are ever in Turlock or just driving through this well worth it. read more

The best Mexican restaurant in the area. 5 stars for food quality, service, and cleanliness. Better in the Valley may not be found. All tables are happily greeted with tasty chips, excellent salsa, and a bowl of refried beans. Drink orders taken immediately (which I really enjoy), and food is served very, very quickly. The food is good which is why we keep coming back. On the other hand the service really sucks. We waited over 20 minutes to be seated. After being seated our waiter brought out our chips and salsa but he didn't return back. Another person came to take our drink order. After we finished our chips we had to wave down another waiter to tell her we were ready to order this was about 15 minutes later. She called our waiter who came and took our order. We waited almost an hour from the time we walked in to the time we got our food. We never got refills on our drinks or asked if we needed anything else. On the positive side the food was delicious. If your starving I wouldn't recomend this place. If your looking for good customer service I wouldn't recommend this place. Just finished eating.Took them over 30 minutes to ask for our order and an hour for the food to come out. My baby's mac and cheese was partly stuck together and burnt yet the fries were cold. They didn't come around to give us refills or check on us in general. We had to ask multiple times for refills, spoons, and napkins. The one thing they made sure to state was the gratuity fee, and there is no issue with that in general but just because it's included in a large party (ours was 11) doesn't mean you shouldn't actually be attentive to the party. Also, just to state, they were actually not very busy and seemed to be sufficiently staffed. Maybe less time talking and laughing in the kitchen and more time actually doing their job would help. read more

I normally don't give out a bad review unless it's absolutely required. I understand that in these tough times of Covid we are unable to eat at the restaurant but when showing up the manner the waiter treated my wife and I with rudeness telling us the restaurant is closed and not offering the to go order option was a bad start. Also, the food was cold and my burrito ended up having what seemed to be a good size thin black bracelet inside of it which was disgusting. Halfway through my meal I noticed this long string coming out of my mouth as u pulled it was terrible! I am not sure if it was an accident or on purpose but the cooks have got to pay close attention to what they feed customers. Specially in times like ours with the Covid, what are we to think about sanitary practices in the restaurant? I would definitely not be going back and I truly hope this experience with the customer service and incident with the food does not happen to anyone else. Had a birthday dinner there last night! Got there an hour before our complete guest list was to arrive and was told 1/2 the party has to be there in order to be seated, I had called the day before and was not told this, I was told to come early get our seats and have it ready unless I wanted to wait, if it got busy, at first we were ready to leave, my sister said let me go talk to them and see what we can do. 3 more of my guest showed up so we had 1/2 our guest(7) and they sat us. We had great service and our fabulous server was quick on his feet and all his helpers kicked in and made sure we didn't have to wait for anything. First time at a Las Casuelas before and we will be coming back frequently now! Walked in and greeted by friendly hostess. Seated immediately on a Friday night at 530pm(it did get very busy after we left). Super kind waiter got us waters, chips/salsa, Bean Dip immediately. The server was very nice, answered questions we had about the menu and took our order. Then.... Without waiting forever our food came out!!! It was quick, hot, and DELICIOUS! Two words: HAPPY HOUR. Best drink on the menu was the 22 oz. angry orchard (a hard cider) for $3.50! That's ridiculous, we got two each while we waited for a table and our food (good idea or bad idea?). Unfortunately the bar was completely full the entire time we were waiting so we asked to be seated in the restaurant after closing our tabs. Food was okay. Our friend who brought us here said several of their menu items were top notch, so I decided to try the mole, a dish I haven't had before but always wanted to try. The parking lot is not huge but is adequate. Staff is extremely friendly and more than willing to answer all questions and give you extra time to peruse the menu. It's a pretty standard menu for a Mexican restaurant, nothing unique/unusual. The decor is modern Mexico and well kept. Tables and benches were clean. They kept my drink glass full and was very polite. Waitress checked on me several times to ensure my food and service were what I wanted and needed. As more guests arrived it did get rather loud but not a huge problem. There is a Cantina on site, it appeared to be well stocked. I don't come this way often so I cannot promise to return. read more

I am having a hard time posting this but I have to because this is the second time we have been here and both times the experience was not too pleasant. To make a long story short the first time the food was not that good but the server was great (It's a shame I don't remember his name.) Tonight 1/10/23 the food was good and the server was great but the process to get us in to be seated was horrible. This happened to us twice and it seems like the front end young ladies are overwhelmed or just do not want to be there. Even after we sat down it took a good 35 minutes and we had to flag someone down and pretty much be stern and ask for someone to take our order. Granted it was busy today but the last time it wasn't and we were still greeted with attitude by the front entrance employees. Owners if you see this you might wanna look at your process or talk to your managers. I have their names but I am not going to blast them on here. I will give credit to the nice young lady who saved the night though...thank you Sophia! I left much calmer after she got us our food fast. They never answer the phone and when I called twice, it rang and someone picked up and hung up immediately and on purpose because they didn't want to take an order over the phone. Disappoint is an understatement. Had a party of 8, on Sunday 8/28/2022 arrived at 6pm was told by the host it would be approx 25 mins. At one point another party asked how much longer, she pointed out that we were ahead of them and a few minutes later, they were seated ahead of us. So many party's behind us were seated before us, insane. I asked the host, how much longer my timer was already at 50 mins, and informed me they had no table for us and were waiting for tables to clear, I informed her that if tables had to be separate it would be totally fine. I would accommodate if that would make our wait any shorter, you could see two booths available thru the waiting area. So not sure, why they wouldn't ask, in the first place to accommodate our party. At 7pm we were finally seated in the two booths that were open the whole time we waited. The customer service all around was horrible, had to flag down our waiter @7:30 to ask if I could put in my order, couple meals came with tortillas and again had to ask waiter, half way thru our meal, for our tortillas. Horrible service. None of the workers were friendly, or even apologetic for the horrible wait. Unacceptable, waiter did inform us though, since it was a party of 8 the gratuity tip was included from the beginning. That's unfortunate, because they defiantly didn't deserve anything. Waiter never even brought our check, we had to walk up to the host to pay, while she even waved us goodbye, until we informed her we hadn't paid, she still called the waiter to come out with the check.
