I ordered a mimosa what was brought to me was ok with a touch of champagne - I was told they were out of champagne so that would be the last one- bev mo is across the street- go buy some- poor management. I ordered the chiliquiles with eggs over easy - what was brought to me was eggs up- I said the eggs were to be over easy- he said the chef said those were over easy. Went to Las Casuelas for some dinner to enjoy and ordered a michelada to go with it. The hostess, can't remember her name, seemed like she dreaded working because as soon as she saw us come in (it was dead inside) she seemed annoyed that we interrupted her conversation with coworkers. We were seated right next to the men's bathroom despite there being 10+ open booths further from the bathroom and the hostess had a bit of an attitude. Food was okay. The michelada gets a 0.5/5 stars because it looked & tasted as if they just poured 99% Clamato in it and a pinch of beer. Trash. My girl and I were not able to enjoy our food after the first few bites because there was an incident in the men's bathroom where a customer had just thrown up. Employees went in to clean the mess but left the bathroom door wide open. The smell of puke, feces, & urine began to linger around us. That was bad enough, but then the employees began to gag and hurl very loudly to wear we heard everything! Me and my gf looked at each other in disgust and decided to just take our hardly touched food home. I never leave reviews let alone Yelp ones, but last night's experience was horrible. Too bad they were the one of the few restaurants open at the time. This restaurant doesn't even deserve the 1 star rating I'm giving it but Yelp doesn't allow 0 stars. When my husband first got there the hostess were more interested in looking a croc charms then paying attention to my husband standing there waiting to be helped. They told him hello welcome in and went right back to looking at croc charms. Then when our food came out mine and my husbands came out first cold (both dishes should have been hot) then we had to wait for our three kids food to come out. When the kids food finally came out it was so incredibly hot including the plates. The server put the plate In front of our daughter and didn't warm her it was scolding hot so she ended up burning her hands. Manger came over and told us that that server was his best server so he is shocked that happened. The manager ended up not charging us for the kids meals which is appreciated. But ultimately the experience was just so uncomfortable and food was not good so we won't be returning. We've been to the one in Manteca and it was amazing so we had really high hopes for this one. Used to come here on a regular basis and haven't been here I a while. The service and food used to be great, not anymore. Took our waitress 15 minutes to take our order, wasn't very busy. Others came in after us and were waited on right away. Ordered 2 enchiladas with grilled chicken and red sauce. I get charged for grilled chicken, but what I got was boiled chicken that wasn't shredded. The sauce was most definitely from a can, and a cheap one at that. The service was really bad due to one employee (Dulce Mari) everyone else was happy and with good service. But we ignored, after the first round of shots of Jameson we ordered another round and she said "we ran out" she had a very ugly attitude but we still ignored the bad service and continued to try having a good time. Then when we're half way through eating there was a hair that was in the food. There is a pic of it attached below. We called (Dulce Mari) the waitress and explained to her that there was a hair in the food. She said "so what you guys wanna do?" Like if this was a normal thing that happen at this restaurant. I asked to speak to a manager she then replied "I am the manager" we replied back with demanding to speak to another manager or another higher up. She refused and again she stated that she was the manager and to give the hair and that part of the food to her. I decided to give it anther try with a take out order. Disappointed again! On Wednesday they have albondigas which is a meatball soup. Each soup comes with rice, onions, jalapeños and half of an avacado to add to your soup plus tortillas. My order was missing all of the things I mentioned above. Consumers beware! They cook their food with "PIG LARD" - they use it to cook basically EVERYTHING on their menu! They use pig lard to cook their chips, the rice, beans, and even use pig lard to fry their food! I primarily eat a vegetarian & pescatarian diet (I don't eat beef, chicken, and pork) for health reasons! The only reason I found out was because I had ordered a shrimp dish and asked the waitress if they added bacon (some restaurants add bacon to shrimp dishes and forget to disclose it on the menu). She said no but, "wait we fry the shrimp in pig lard!" =( That's when she said all of the items above I mentioned is cooked with pig lard!! =( I had already ate the chips with the bean dip!! Just last night I visited this fine establishment with my daughter. The service and the meal were amazing but what happened after closing is why I'm writing this review. I was unaware that Las Casuelas closes at 9:00 p.m. On Monday nights and unfortunately (for me) it was approximately closing time when I exited the restaurant. As I made my way out of my parking spot I noticed my truck was making a rather unfamiliar sound. After closer examination of my tires I quickly realized that I had incurred a flat tire. After assessing the situation I called my road side assistance provider only to find out that I'd be waiting an hour or so. If this had happened during the day I wouldn't have been so apprehensive about my situation but unfortunately for me all the establishments within the vicinity had closed for the evening and I was stuck in a tucked away, somewhat desolate area. As I sat there awaiting my rescue Roberto the manager from Las Casuelas was headed home for the evening when he noticed my dilemma. He immediately offered to assist me; and that he did. It took a little bit of time and a whole lot of man power to change out the flat tire for the spare but I will forever be thankful for his willingness to lend a helping hand. I hope to one day be able to pay it forward and help my fellow man kind when it is within my power to do so. Thank you Roberto for going above and beyond the call of duty. read more
