I have been going here for years and they lost me. Human decency needs to come into play at some point and they ruined it for me. I found my favorite spot for Mexican food! I have tried a few places in Memphis, but this place has been the best! I always start with their Cheese Dip, mixing in a small side of Pica de Gallo - yum! Been there, done it, didn't like it, will continue to explore other options. I had lunch 2:00 Monday afternoon. Upon entering,I immediately noticed that it was a nice place. Had a little trouble finding a hostess and wandered by the bar where I saw the health inspection. They earned a perfect 100. That deserves some respect and to find them at about one third capacity at this time is also promising. I noticed immediately that the restrooms are in front of the place. Very smart thinking. Easy to find. Although the dining room seems nice, something is missing. There was no music playing. There was not one scrap of Mexican decor on the walls. The tables are plain. It more resembles a dining room in a hospital or nursing home. There is no semblance of any character anywhere. Just sterile. The menu came which was a single side of a single page. No molcajete. No chimichangas. No chili rellano or poblano. No lunch specials. No combinations. Like the decor, the selections are just as lacking. Everything is a la carte. Rice and beans will set you back the price of a complete lunch special at a competitive diner. I couldn't even get a beef taco here! "Our restaurant does not have ground beef." Look here, I don't care how authentic you want to be, if you are in Memphis, then serve a proper taco. I ordered a chorizo taco given my limited options and a steak quesadilla. Chips and salsa came after I ordered which is not good. Chips are ok if you don't mind them at room temperature, and salsa is alright if you like it 34 degrees, and very mild with cilantro being the main flavor. The food came fairly quickly. There was no effort to warm the plates. As a matter of fact, the two items should have been combined on a single plate. The steak quesadilla was good but not great. Wasn't my first choice but it was fine. The chorizo taco is served on a tiny soft shell. I've had better chorizo from the grocery. Theirs was extremely dry and bland. I expect some red oil from the meat, but this meat had been robbed of any oil or flavor. Its probably just as well that they can't serve ground beef. As I mentioned, it is a la carte, so no rice, no beans, no guacamole. The price was not unreasonable, but there are so many better options in this city, that I see no reason to come back. Finally, my drink ran empty through the course of my meal and was never refilled. The server caught me off guard while I had a mouthful of food. " Everything alright?" I didn't have a chance to respond. The glasses are clear. He shouldn't need me to get his attention, or to ask for a refill. The food didn't quite satisfy me anyway, but I didn't want to order more.I was done. The check was brought while I had a mouthful and I was confused where to pay it since the only register I found was behind the bar, and the bar was unmanned. I left my payment on the table instead. As for management reading this, There is no need to apologize or offer me a special deal. I may be going against the grain, but I just didn't like it. Feel free to read my other reviews of your competitors and you may get a sense of how I've compared this visit to theirs. Couldn't have been happier with my lunch! Service was super quick and friendly for the most part. The host was super friendly, however our server seemed like he didn't want to be there. I've been a server before, and have had bad days so I can understand. We order an appetizer of guacamole, which is a must here!! Our local farmers market used to sell their guac, and we have been big fans, so figured we should probably check out the actual restaurant. The guac was great, as expected. Their chips are perfectly crisp and not too heavily seasoned. The salsa that comes with the chips is excellent as well! I honestly could have just filled up on chips, salsa, & guac! If you're going to visit Las Delicias, there's one thing you need to do as soon as you get there: get the guacamole. Seriously. Even if you think you don't like guacamole, you should order some. The guacamole is served with a spoon, which you'll need. This isn't a bowl full of mashed avocados that are easily scooped onto chips. The menu isn't lying when it says that the guacamole is made fresh to order. It was clear that after I ordered, someone in the kitchen cut an avocado into chunks just for me. After looking for a lunch menu (Las Delicias doesn't have any lunch-specific offerings), I ordered the chicken enchiladas verde. When the server set it down in front of me, I was sort of amazed. The dish was huge - there wasn't a part of the plate not covered in food or verde sauce. It also looked insanely fresh. Somewhere under that mound of lettuce, tomato, avocado and sour cream, there are three corn tortillas filled with chicken. While the food was absolutely gorgeous, the interior of the restaurant was a bit odd. The walls are bare, and fancy red upholstered chairs (like you'd find in a really nice home dining room) are pulled up to regular restaurant tables. This place is a hidden gem! The food is a step above your average Mexican restaurants. We beelined to the big pretty patio, which was kind of a mistake because we ended up being the only table out there and the busy server kind of took a long time to check in on us and bring us our check.. BUT- the margaritas were made using fresh squeezed limes and looked more like cute cocktails than your average margarita.. I liked that. The tacos were SO GOOD. The pineapple in them was such a great addition I never knew my tacos were missing. On POINT!!! The patio and food quality is really great here. I'll be back! read more

Yum! Came here for a much-needed late lunch with a co-worker. We were both craving some good Mexican food, and he checked that Las Delicias had many positive reviews (I roll with Yelp - he's a TripAdvisor guy). LD looks more like a nicer sit-down restaurant, with a nice-looking bar, and white linen tablecloths - not the typical, mom-and-pop type Mexican restaurants I frequent in almost every town. It also has a much more limited menu, but that should not deter anyone from trying LD. The prices are as reasonable as any mom-and-pop I've ever visited, and the food was very delicious. We both loved the warm, flaky tortilla chips, and the salsa it came with had a nice kick to it. We both ordered the chicken fajitas, and they came out quickly, fresh and sizzling and tasty. Needless to say, I was quite delighted to find the fajitas also had some chopped bacon sizzling away with them. Oddly enough, I've never had a chicken/bacon fajita, and it is magnificent. The fajitas are served with your choice of warmed flour or corn tortillas, the corn tortillas being a nice option that I don't typically find on the Mexican menu - usually it seems, I have to request the corn tortillas, and I have even been charged additional for them. Service was quick and friendly. I would definitely go back to LD the next time I am in that part of Memphis. Prices were reasonable too, for a huge portion of fajitas, beans and rice, was about $10. read more

When it comes to Mexican food, Las Delicias is probably some of the more authentic you'll find in the area, and for a reasonable price as well. This particular Las Delicias apparently used to be a more upscale restaurant and kept a lot of the ambiance. The restaurant is very clean and utilizes a lot of light colors in their décor. This particular Las Delicias also is less crowded than the other locations in the city, which is probably due to being in an area with far less traffic. The service is always friendly which is a huge bonus. This is one of the few places in town that serves horchata, which is one of my favorite drinks. Their chips are made in house and their salsa is also very tasty and is well balanced in its spiciness. Their tacos ($2) are very authentic; the tortillas are small as they should be and they use the meat of your choice, cilantro, onions, and pico de gallo (on the side). They have a taco called the "gringa" ($3) which comes with cheese on the taco if you choose to go American style. Their quesadillas ($4.50) are also very good; they are not conservative with the amount of cheese or meat they use in these. Their fajita nachos (approx $9) are exceptionally good and very filling. They are completely overloaded with meat and other toppings, so you will most likely need to use the complimentary chips that come with dining here to finish off your nachos. For two people, it should be rather easy to get out of here on a $20 - $25 tab. The ambiance is good, the food is great, and the service is friendly. The quaint patio is a great spot on a nice evening. We had a large group between kickball games so we took advantage of air conditioning this trip. Our waitress was in the weeds most of our visit. We ordered a pitcher of top shelf margaritas, asked for a specific tequila and was advised they didn't carry it. She started listing what they did offer and our requested tequila was available, she just didn't know the pronunciation. She was charismatic, but waters, drinks, ordering and food delivery was very slow. Onto the food. The guacamole is excellent here. It's made with nice, big chunks of avocado. Green mush is not appealing to me! I ordered the pastor taco and a pork tamale. The pork was moist and the chunk of pineapple in the taco was a nice surprise. The tamale was very dense. This is my standard order and, although I usually finish it, this was too much for me. It was delicious. Overall, this is a very nice spot for a few couples or a whole team. I would recommend sitting on the patio if the weather allows! The service and ambiance has always been better in the open air. One last note, credit card information was stolen here. My boyfriend lost his card, got the new one in that day and only used it at this business. False charged were noticed on his account two days later. Las Delicias is our new favorite Mexican joint in town. They offer the usual American inspired, Mexican fare. Their chips are homemade and offer a great texture. They're much thicker than the standard tortilla chips offered elsewhere. Their salsa is slightly spicy with a wonderful taste. I usually order the enchiladas with beans. Ordered guac it was a bowl of pico with 4 slices of avocado in it, I had to mash up and ask for a limes to make it even taste close to guac. Ordered tortilla soup that came out with a hunk/ball of cheese it that was stuck together and unable to pull apart. It had 1 generous slice of avocado in it, no lime or cilantro. People .... I didn't ask for chicken soup come on. The All In One was good and the salsa and chips no issues. Truly disappointed the quality of food this place is serving. Their chips are flaky and just right while their salsa is up there with the best in Memphis. Great value for money for the food you get. For me, at this moment, Las Delicias is up there with Guadalupana and Maciel's (and to a lesser extent Happy Mexican for their crunchy tacos and salsa) for the best Mexican in Memphis. Man, this place is great, and probably one of the best Mexican places in Memphis. The tortas at Las Delicias are amazing, and their tacos a burritos are usually on point. At one point in life, I was so addicted to this place that I pretty much became a regular. My favorites are the Cuban torta and the chorizo taco. The salsa is also one of the best I've tried.
