I was so impressed by their homemade chips & salsa, margaritas, and chicken tortilla soup. I can't wait to come back and try more!

We ate out on the balcony area which was nice. The worst thing about this visit was our server. We waited about 10 minutes to even be addressed, then she same over without introducing herself or anything and asked for our order. We hadn't even been given menus yet. She stomped off to get the menus, without apologizing. In all we waited about 40 minutes for our food. The food was ok. Portions were small but filling. The beef was cold, but the chicken was hot somehow. After we ate, it was another 20 minutes before she came back to our table. She didn't come to check on us not once thought the entire meal. Never smiled, not even once. No thank you at the end of the meal or anything. Safe to say none of us left a tip. If we EVER come back, we'll ask for a different server for sure. read more

We have been avid customers of Las D for years. The servers have always been so kind as they waited on us. Tonight, we took our 2 small children to eat and celebrate that my husband was back in town from a work trip. As the boys grew restless, my husband went to the bar to ask for to go cups and boxes. Another waiter, that we found out was named Jose, followed my husband to the table and told us alcohol was not permitted to go. We agreed and proceeded to drink our drinks at the table. This entire time, Jose stared at our family with small kids from a few tables in front of us. My husband waited to pay the check so I stood up with my 1 and 3 year old and my diaper bag to take them outside to wait. Jose then darted to our table looked at me and said "where's the alcohol? I know you did not consume it." I was stunned that a waiter would speak to a customer in this way. He then picked up all the cups on the table to inspect what was in them. My 3 year old had to be told that he could not take his water to go because this man assumed we were breaking the policy on taking drinks to go. As frequent customers that look forward to a family meal outside our house, I am appalled that a waiter would not only reprimand a customer that did nothing wrong, but then inspect someone's items as if we are at TSA boarding a flight. We have always stood by Las D and chosen it for our family dinner out but I am greatly offended in how this waiter was chosen to treat paying customers and the manager brushed it off. When we asked for a manager and his name, his response was, "I'm the manager and I have tables to go wait on." We spoke with the actual manager to discover his full name, and will be speaking with higher management. read more

Was invited by some coworkers raving about this restaurant. The ambiance was nice and all. Ordered a Cuban Sandwich the sandwich wasn't even close to what it was supposed to be. Though it had the proper meat it had extras that it didn't not belong in the sandwich and left out to make it a Cuban sandwich. It had onions and tomatoes, it missed the pickles and mustard. Great food! We avoid the Park location just because it's usually jam packed with college kids. I have never had anything here that I didn't love. The fajitas are not like you get in most restaurants - and I assume it's because they are authentic! No need for sides like lettuce or sour cream to go with it! The guacamole is OUTSTANDING! I love the chicken burrito and the chorizo quesadilla. The tamales don't have sauce, but guess what? Don't need them. And the chips are the best in town (thankfully, I can get them at Kroger because they are my go-to chip!). read more

I ate here again with a group of 12 recently. The service was excellent; the servers seated us in a room in the back and were conscientious about making sure we had what we needed. The food was good, servers were quick with drink refills. The server even accommodated my vegetarianism by suggesting veggie enchiladas (which were not on the menu). They simply adapted the chicken enchiladas for my needs; this was greatly appreciated. Even though we had a large group, they rang us separate checks. Las D is what feels like the most popular Mexican restaurant that I hear about in midtown/east Memphis. There are a few different locations, but this review will be on the Quince location I called to make a reservation beforehand for like 15 people on a Saturday night. The person I spoke with on the phone was quick and made the reservations with no problem. The great thing about this location is that there is sooo much space! Even though there were tons of people there, it still felt like it wasn't very full. We were seated immediately, even without our whole party there, which was great! The food is cheap, and the service is really fast. I never have to wait long to get my food here. I had the steak and chicken taco. They were really yummy, but could have used a little more flavor in the meat in my opinion. My friend had fajitas and said it was amazing. The also have thick chips and spicy salsa that are really delicious. I never mind eating here, but it's not my fave Mexican food in Memphis. read more

My favorite guac in the city!! My husband used to hate guacamole when we first got together but this changed his mind. I like to spritz a little extra lime in there. Two years later and no better. Didn't wait long for a table in a bland looking room in the back. It took quite a while to get the guacamole and even longer for the cheese dip only to get half of what we ordered. Since the Cuban sandwich was bad last time I tried the Pastor and chorizo tacos. Every single thing on this menu is superb. I should know, I've been here 1000000 times. The staff is great! This location doesn't have the atmosphere and dimmed sound of the other one, but it's a great location for a quick lunch or dinner. So many good reviews and so many reviews from people I usually can count on. This place didn't live up to the billing at all. I would say it's probably one of the worst Mexican places I've been to. I had the all in one fajita. While it looked good, it had almost no taste. Sprinkles of small pieces of meat. Worst fajita I've ever had. My lady got the steak burrito with a side of rice. She loved the rice but the burrito was so so. The place was super packed so I thought for sure that was a good sign. I'm not sure why people like this place. Holy Guacamole, I love this place! I've been a fan of Las Delicias ever since they opened the location on Park at Getwell a few years ago. It's a little closer to my house than this one on Quince, but honestly - I like this new location better. The atmoshere is a bit nicer and it's definitely not as noisy. The acoustics are so bad at the Park location that you can't carry on a coversation when they get really busy, which is all the time. Of course mostly I'm so busy munching on those awesome made-in-house chips and guacamole that I don't care. But it is quieter at Quince and they have an awesome patio when the weather is nice enough to sit outside. My favorite items on the menu? Hummm.... Well for sure the enchiladas with mole (aye aye aye!), any of the awesome tortas and well, yes....their incredibly fresh and chunky guacamole! It's simiply the best in town. Their chips are unbelievable - thin, homemade, and served warm. Salsa is homemade, loaded with cilantro, thick, and not too spicy. I had the steak Alambre entry - fantastic. Mexican food seems to be a universally affordable option, but it usually doesn't bring the idea of a "date night" to mind. But in Memphis we are super lucky to have a REALLY good Mexican restaurant. Even better, the location closest to my house has taken over the space of a failed "nice" restaurant. So if you're looking for bright colors and sombreros on the wall this is not you place, but I love it! And they have an amazing Patio! April is a funky month in Memphis weather wise because sometimes it's nice and other times not so much. But last week the bf and I were lucky enough to find ourselves out on a nice night, and the patio had an open table, yay! The prices are amzing, $2 tacos, $9 nachos.Typically I get the steak nachols, delicious! And huge, seriously, I can never finish. If I don't get the nachos then I get 2 tacos and split an order of queso, sometimes 3 if I'm really hungry. We're not tequilla drinkers so we get sodas and never spend more than $30 with tax and tip. Yay. Did I mention they also don't play cheesy music? I love this place. Sdie note: It seriously annoys the bf that the menu has an Americanized vocabulary (steak nachos vs carne asida) but this Gringa apprecaites it. read more

I probably eat Mexican once a week... I have been to Las Delicias on Park, but never this one. We went with a group of 8 and were crammed around one table on the patio. The patio is great! It's big and the tables are a good distance apart. We started by ordering 2 pitchers of margaritas, cheese dip, and guacamole. The guacamole is by far the freshest, most amazing guac I have ever had. Its a chunkier version, so you get to see how fresh the avocado really is. I ordered a grilled chicken quesadilla and most everyone else ordered the all in one fajitas. My quesadilla was great, or maybe just the margaritas were strong? Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed everything about Las Delicias. For the boys, the servings were awfully small and most of them were still hungry, which is never a good thing. I picked up half a pitcher, the guacamole, an all in one, and my quesadilla under $30... I lived in Mexico City for quite a while, so when I moved to Memphis, I really wanted to find a place where I could find the real Mexican "Antojitos" which are nothing more that the typical tacos, tortas, enchiladas, etc. So, when one of my coworkers told me about "Las Delicias", I decided to give it a try. And indeed they do serve the real deal, the tacos, tortas, enchiladas, etc, are just like in Mexico with the authentic spices and flavor, and of course, practically every dish is delicious. And it is very cheap to have an abundant meal, however, don't expect the real high end Mexican cuisine, they don't serve that here, that would be too pricey for the regular customer here, only in other heavily Mexican populated cities you will find that kind of places, like LA, or Dallas or Houston, etc. One curious thing about this restaurant, is their famous "Guacamole", although it is also delicious, I would say that it is the only thing that is not Mexican on the menu. Nevertheless, I enjoy it too. And by the way, if you order, the "Gringa" tacos, they are called that way in Mexico too, so they are also authentic. And about the service, the staff is courteous and reasonably fast, unless the place is packed, and although they are 100% bilingual, it sure helps if you can talk to them in Spanish. read more

This is the real deal. You're looking for true Mexican food, you'll find it here. No Tex-Mex. This is the taste of Mexico City. Their one page menu more than satisfies. My business travel in Mexico has taken me far from the "tourist zones" and to eateries just like this. The tacos al pastor are off the hook. They're working to perfect a tamarind margarita, a treat you'll find at great joints in Mexico City (wonder where they got that idea). Ask for one. They need the practice. The only reason I am giving Las Delicias two stars is because the food was good, however the service was awful. As a young woman, I have never been so disrespected by a grown man in my life. Once seated at our table, we waited twenty minutes before receiving any attention from our server. When he finally approached, my two friends and I (all well over the age of 21) ordered margaritas. The waiter took our IDs and told us he had to ask the bar tender before serving us and then disappearing with our licenses. He came back one minute later to say "no sorry, he doesn't want to" which made no sense. When questioning him as to why the answer was no, he could not give me a true reason and then "went to ask the bar tender again." When he returned for the second time to deny us, he still could not give us a valid reason as to why he was denying us other than he thought the IDs were fake and "the bar tender said no." Genuinely confused, I decided to ask the bar tender myself what the problem was. When I went to the bartender, I ordered my margarita with my ID in hand he looked at it and began making my drink with no problem. I do not appreciate being disrespected but I will not stand being lied to. He did not ask the bar tender like he said he did, he simply just did not want to serve us for whatever reason. After returning to my table with my drink, our waiter came up to me and threatened to take it away? Excuse me? Then, my friend went to do the same thing at the bar, our waiter went up and whispered something to the bar tender, causing him not to serve my friend who again is of drinking age. I understand restaurants reserve the right to refuse serving alcohol to someone and I respect that, but all three of us had legal IDs, we were respectful and sober, and there was no reason not to serve us. There was obviously a personal issue at hand rather than someone trying to serve their customers. Not to mention he brought our queso out ten minutes after we ordered it with no chips. After this whole dispute, he barely came to our table and we were at the restaurant two hours. The restaurant is understaffed and maybe that's the root of their issues. I have always been a huge fan of this restaurant but I am sad to say I will not be returning. Overall a bad experience. read more

This is just a review of the Quince location. I am not sure what happened to this place. It was never amazing but the last few times I went have been terrible. Last night will be my last visit. My fiance was under the weather and wanted some soup so we swung by and ordered some soup, tacos, and fajitas. The food wasn't great but not terrible. It was the service and atmosphere that absolutely suck. We commented that every member of the staff is angry and unpleasant. They walked around loudly complaining about life in general and other employees the entire time we were there. There is no atmosphere at all. To add to the angry employees, there are no pictures on the wall, but there are picture hangers, and there was no music. I always choose to go to locally owned restaurants over chain but will not support this local restaurant again. I am sad to see a popular Memphis restaurant be ruined by rude and angry staff members. read more

I love Las Delicias, and I was thrilled to learn this location was opening close to my house. Unfortunately my experiences haven't been as good as at the Park Ave. location. On my last visit I walked in and noticed the restaurant smelled exactly like a school cafeteria. Not exactly a positive association. Then I was seated right next to the kitchen, even though there were other open tables nearby and only one server on the floor. Whoever wiped down the table prior to our arrival hadn't been very thorough, either. Whatever. This ain't fine dining, I'm here for the guac. Which, as always, was awesome. But I couldn't say the same for my torta. I've ordered the pork leg torta dozens of times at the Park Ave. location and it's been consistently wonderful. But this one was just not what I'm used to. The meat was cold and there wasn't enough of it to even cover the whole bun. Next time I'm craving Las Delicias I guess I'll just go out of my way to the Park Ave. location. read more

After reading many of the reviews for Las Delicias the wife and I were excited to give it a try. Entering the restaurant it didn't have the feel of a Mexican restaurant at all, more of a run down up-scale place. The patio looks awesome but the temp was pushing 100 outside and I don't like to sweat while I eat so we chose to eat inside. The menu was limited but had most of the Mexican fare we like. We decided to order several different tacos and a couple tamales as well as margaritas for the both of us. We both liked the salsa, very fresh. The chips were thick and hardy and we liked them as well. It wasn't long until the food arrived and it was all good. Not the best tacos in town but they were good. No where near the quantity or quality of Taqueria La Guadalupana's tacos out on Summer Ave. The tamales were fantastic however, nice heat and full of flavor. The margaritas were small for the price but were very tasty. Service was great. I'm sure we'll give it another try and when we do I'll be sure to update my review. read more

Come for the chips, stay for the atmosphere. It's an odd thing to take center stage at a Mexican place, but the chips are the legitimate star here. They're a bit softer than most tortilla chips, yet still have a nice satisfying crunch to them. The guacamole was more like an avocado ceviche. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's not exactly the right flavor and definitely not the right texture. You do get a decent amount that's probably your money's worth. Not so impressed with the queso dip. I shared a bunch of pastor tacos and they were...okay. There was some amount of flavor marinated into them, but they were curiously dry and lacked spitz. Perhaps a dollop of guac or pico de gallo or even just a dousing of cilantro would've helped. The Enchiladas Verdes were equally nondescript. Good, but also a bit pricey for what you got. And the sides were, curiously, beans and...more beans. Again, okay, but nothing too special. The service was efficient and courteous and it looked like they had a band playing on some nights. I've been to Las Delicias Quince location 4-5 times in the past month and EVERY single time the service is so pitiful that it really doesn't make up for the great food. Whether I've had dinner at the bar and been ignored while the bartender concentrated on to go orders, or been in the dining room, servers & staff are slow and nowhere to be found. Took my team there for lunch today and waited 20 minutes to get a drink order after I asked a server for service. Once is a coincidence, twice is bad, beyond that means the staff and management sucks. It's close to the house but I won't go back. Maybe just order out, that's seems to be the best way to get the bartender's attention anyway read more
