This authentic South Side staple has wonderful food at a fair price but what sets it apart is the wonderful wait staff and their willingness to put the customer first. When you walk in here you are not a stranger, you are family. I am a big migas critic, it was my favorite breakfast growing up and this is the only place in town that makes them like my grandma. Today was a disappointment. I go here quite often for lunch. This was my first day taking an order to go....I ordered 9 tacos. All my carne guisada had exactly 4 cubes in each with an excessive amount of cheese as if to compensate for the lack of meat, along with half of them being literally chewy rubber! My bean &cheese with bacon had only one tiny piece of bacon per taco! Not even a whole strip?!The only one taco that was satisfactory was the lengua. First things first -- the handmade corn tortillas will cause you to swoon. Delicious! Friends tell me the flour tortillas are also very good. Their food is all yummy and most affordable, especially the weekday lunch specials. The place itself is nothing fancy, but the staff is very accommodating. And this weekend, while I ate there on my lunch break, a couple of musicians came in and offered a lovely interlude. I REALLY like this place. Best tacos in town. I was in the area to play golf a Riverside and decided to have a bite to eat at this little gem and wow it was amazing. The lady working the corner is sooo on her game, she really professional, she's a neat freak and she keeps the place spotless. I like the place so much that 2 days later I drove the family back over to that side of town for breakfast and they liked it as much as I did. First time here and was not disappointed. The wife, myself along with some friends stopped in for breakfast after church and were quickly seated. Was referred here by a family member of mine. I was skeptical at first seeing as it was a small building with a lack luster look. Boy was I wrong. Came in with a group of fifteen people around 2. They could accomodate us. I just had a bean&cheese and two carnitas de peurco. The b&c was good. The carnitas came regular or "hot spicy," naturally I got both. The hot spicy had a good heat and flavor to it. However the carnitas were basically cubed porkchop. I didn't enjoy it. Was charged wrong. Ok no problem, WRONG! Waitress was rude snatched receipt out my hand. When asked for her name, said no, it was personal. When asked for owner/managers number she said NO. I told her I'm not going to sign until the error was corrected, she called the cook, who politely came out and apologized. She wrote in difference on the receipt and walked away saying she was busy.
