I have frequented the 3rd street location for the last 6 months at least twice a week for something sweet in the evenings and food once a week during Covid. I always call ahead to place evening orders as they are always very busy. The last couple of times the phone rings endlessly but i keep trying. Last week i called to place order and response was "estamos muy ocupadas y no tengo tiempo" ("we are very busy and do not have time"). I decided to take the drive anyways. Once I approached the window i overhead a woman telling a young couple that they were very busy and would just have to wait a long while. The young lady turned so red, thanked her and left. With that said Las Palmitas is does not get to go without poor marks as well. Let's begin with the Parking. One way nod very little at that. With the La Palmitas vans taking up spots it's hard to fit. Sometimes it's way too hot inside to be serving fresh fruit. The ice cream often looks freezer burned. The lime drink always taste rancid. Las mulitas de steak are to die for. A soft thick hand made tortilla. Mexico style. They sell mangoneadas, fresh carrot juice, tamales de elote. Delicious. They always offer chile. I'm a mild kinda gal so I had to throw out the chile. I felt guilty and made a prayer before tho. This place has not been gentrified yet, and yet it's Gringo friendly. I, been a customer since 2019. Well lately this Ice Cream shop called Las Palmitas or what so ever they have BIG HELLA BAD CUSTOMERS SERVICES!!! They are NOT FRIENDLY, NOT WELCOMING, ALWAYS RUDE AF, AND most of the time they do the ORDER WRONG. Great spot! Can be a bit small but who cares about the location, I'm here to tell you about the food, not the Raspados or Nieves because everyone already knows these are the best in all Boyle heights. So far I had the wet burrito (green) if you're not that hungry don't get it, this baby is well packed with meat (not beans, rice) that's right meat! If I had to weight it it would probably hit a pound, size lets just say it's huge! Size matters in food and trust me this won't disappoint you. Baby comes drenched in the sauce of your choosing, with melted cheese on top, also comes with avocado and shredded lettuce (on the side of course) a must get. Damage for a burrito is about 7 bucks can't remember but it was cheap. The staff are a bit less joyful but that's because they are busy, which I don't mind just give me my food and we're all good. Last time I went I had the Sopes de asada and again they are amazing, these are quality sopes they are extremely hot but that's a sign that they just made them on the spot. It's literally a mountain of meat, lettuce, cheese, and get this sour cream that's right sour fucken cream! Yeah baby!!! First spot I know that adds sourc cream to a sope with me having to ask them or charging me extra for it. Yes , they also top it off with a tomato but I don't freaken care about it so I'm not going to mention it. (Well next time) honestly I eat 2 sopes from king taco but I can do just fine with 1 here since they are slightly bigger but packed with meat, and maybe a nieve after.
