Omg! Let me start off by saying....... Ugh. Ok, first time we came here ever. We were the only people in the place. I ordered green chili plate and BF got a combo plate with a burrito, enchilada and chili rellano. Food was just ok. The chili reminded me of a jar of 505 chili. So I ordered iced tea. It ended up being the fake canned ice tea. I tell waitress I want a Diet Coke instead. Ok. She brings me my Diet Coke. I go ahead and give her my credit card. I get the bill and she charged me for my iced tea and Diet Coke. Really? You get free refills there. Waitress says sorry but you switched to a different drink so I charge you. 2.75 a drink. So I payed 5.50 for a pop!!!!!! I'll never come back. The only good thing was the chips and salsa. I'm not happy at all. Las Potrancas has become one of our favorite spots. Service is friendly and fast. They always dote on our kids. Kids meals are $3.99 (cheap!). Even if they're busy, food comes out quickly. Margs are good- not too sweet- and the place is very clean. My faves are the Mazatlan burrito (with fish) and fiesta nachos. Hubs likes the Marlene combo. Chips and salsa are always fresh. Finally. Three times is a charm- or Trice as Nice is what I should say. This poor place off of 64th and Simms has tried twice to open a Mexican restaurant and they have failed miserable. So we were a little hesitate to go try "one more." We walked in and were amazed at the "over haul" and work put in, that the previous two owners were dithering to do. The space was open, clean and of course, the walls were packed with hanging gaudy Tijuana type souvenirs. (This is a true staple and technical measuring stick to judge all Mexican Restaurant fare by. Look it up). First, it was busy (another good sign.) Second, Happy Hour starts at 2(pm). Third, three words: A. Tequila. Locker. You buy a bottle of Tequila, they store it in their locker and it's there for you every time you come in. The fresh salsa has a nice kick, there's an actual extra spicy green chile offering, and great flavors. But, before I carry on too much...I'll go back and offer a follow up. Just know this, fresh food, happy servers, clean, incredibly affordable a la carte pricing and the largest tequila selection in Arvada (yeah, that other Tequila Capital). read more

Edited 6/24/18 My husband & I had become frequent patrons of the restaurant and had previously received wonderful service, good food & the Mariachi band was phenomenal! We'd been talking with friends how great this place was and finally were able to convince them to come out from Denver for dinner this week. I am embarrassed to have invited others to this establishment and be subjected to the way we were treated. Our waitress did not enter our orders correctly and we were overcharged for 3 margaritas - not a big deal, we requested they be removed from our tab when we reviewed the bill. The waitress and owner/manager would not have it. The owner was adamant that they never mess up and was unwilling to remove the items we did not order/receive/consume. Keep in mind the mistep was roughly $20 on a $180 tab for a large group of people. The lack of professionalism from the owner was incredible, and I've never experienced anything like it before. He would not give us an opportunity to discuss why/how the bill was incorrect, yet instead continued to say they never mess up orders and walked away shaking his hand in our faces. He then said," "don't pay then" or to "pay what you want and leave" and for us to leave & that they'd call the police and implied that we'd be arrested for contesting our service (aka walking on the bill he had instructed us not to pay). I'm at a loss how the owner of this establishment is able to act this way and maintain a business. It's a shame they've lost return customers over $20, when it could have been resolved so easily. Two visits after my brutal review from a year ago, and this place has improved, but still has some glaring weaknesses. The green chili is really good and hot, and the meats are always very good. They are no longer skimping on the booze in their margaritas, and the drink prices and sizes are online with most Mexican restaurants. For some reason the tortillas for the tacos are always super greasy, and they always fall apart as a result of this. ¡That kind of sucks donkey balls (pelotas de burros, y mierda)! The rice and beans are atrocious, worst I've had anywhere. This place is very hit or miss on just about everything, so you should probably have dinner here three-times a week, or else, you rotten bastards (bastardos podridos, y mierda). read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. It is so good. The food is always great. In the morning we have huveos, eggs beans rice smothered in green chili. It comes with a tortilla. It is so good. In the evening we have a Mazarin burrito with shrimp. This burrito is so big. It is filled with black beans vegetables like zucchini, peppers, onions, mushrooms and shrimp. My husband and I went here with the in laws since they claim this is their favorite Mexican joint. I give this place 4 stars because the food was good and the service was also very pleasant! I had the chile rellenos, not the best I've had but the green chile smothered on it was quiet good and spicy! Their salsa also has a nice kick! They also offer a wide variety of tequila, even bottle service, so if you want your own personal bottle on hand. Plus if they don't have it they will order it to ensure they do have it for you next time! I would return to this place! read more

I have been a regular customer and this is perhaps my favorite standard Mexican resturants. The menu is extensive. The shrimp dishes are great. You can get a real Margarita, served with a shaker, like a martini. Friends from Boston and California find this a must hit when they visit. Service has always been good. So we had grown to like this restaurant for margaritas and food. There is limited Mexican restaurants in Arvada. Tonight has changed this restaurant as a option for my family. We showed up at 8:35 pm to eat. The hostess seated us and then makes it a point to say they close at 9? WTF. What does that mean? Will they seat us at now 8:40 and kick us out at 9? I asked her that? She now has made us feel unwelcomed and unsure what we can order and not order at this point. Anyone knows that is a rude comment to make to a customer who you are seating. Don't do the service then. The service was rushed the whole time we were there. I ordered desert to finish and he said "we don't have that" we are closed. Well why did you seat me?? If you give my family a rushed, half offered menu, and and unwelcomed feeling the whole dinner, please rethink sitting people at 8:35. Make your last table to be sat by 7:30 to be done by 9! Do yourself a favor and avoid this place, my experience here was terrible. I came here with four people and our entire order came out wrong. The server brought items out we did not order and then billed us for them. We asked the manger to remove the items and he refused. Seriously what type of place does this? Salsa taste rotten, service is slow and careless, food has lost its great flavor. The carnitas was fat only. These chefs seem to be a bit careless.
