So disappointed today. I drove 45 minutes each way to get some carryout since we were craving for some good Filipino food. We remembered our Christmas Eve Dinner at Lasang Pinoy and how good it was. Today was the total opposite. I ordered Bistek, pork BBQ and sesame calamansi shrimp. The Bistek was more like overcooked beef Tapa. Bistek is supposed to be tender and juicy chunks of beef and lots of sauce to put on top of onions and rice. The amount of the beef Entree was literally about 3 spoonfuls. The pork BBQ was tiny little cubes of dry and overcooked pork. Filipino skewers are know to be long sticks of generous slices of meat. These 3 sticks of Bbq wasn't even enough to feed 1 person. The shrimp were tiny little salad shrimps battered and deep fried. The batter is much too thick. I guess I won't be coming back to try the other dishes that I have not tried. I finally got over to try this place--I met a girlfriend there for Sunday lunch. I don't know WHY I waited so long. It was really good. They brought out some little rice cakes called puto (brightly colored) as an appetizer. They were sweet and tasted like little cupcakes, almost. I had expected something savory, but they were tasty. My friend had been there before and knew what to order. She ordered Crispy red snapper, with sweet sour sauce instead of the mango salsa. It came out whole, with the crispy skin, rice, and the sweet sour sauce. It was very tasty and the meat just about fell off the bones. I ordered the Sotanghon Curry from the specials menu. It reminded me of Singapore rice noodles. It was a huge portion of well seasoned transparent noodles with ground beef, chicken, shrimp, and vegetables. We both shared the two dishes. There were enough noodles left that I brought a full container home. In view of the portion size, the prices are very reasonable. Both dishes were attractively presented. The young man who was our server, Ezekiel, was great--he checked in with us very often. I hope to plan to take my group of friends there for a happy hour. read more

It was okay. I am shocked to find a Filipino food spot in the mall which was so unexpected. We were pretty excited to try the place out! However, the food was just okay. We got the lumpia which were good but I have had better. The outside was crispy and fried perfectly. However, I would the say the filling was a tad bland. It was just a dense piece of meat and kept falling out of the outer layer. I liked the sauce that it came with. The hot sauce was nice and spicy with a touch of a tang. I liked the vinegar it came with too. The fried pork was good, but way too oily for me. However, I always feel like fried pork is too oily for me, so I'm not a great judge on that. My husband loves pork and he finished the whole thing happily. For our main we got the oxtail curry. It was nice and mild and I liked the fish paste that it came with so you can add some satliness to the dish. The oxtail was moist and cooked to a tender finish. The curry was milky and smooth. It didn't have a strong curry taste, so I appreciated the fish paste. For dessert was ordered the halo halo. It was good and tasted very traditional. I liked all the jellies in the dessert. The taro ice cream was the best part! Service was great and everyone there was so friendly and accommodating. All in all, a great spot to dine at when you are at the mall. Came to this place with my bf and some of his friends for his bday. The restaurant is nice but it doesn't really have a Filipino restaurant's vibe. We had a few dishes, everything was good the only thing I didn't like was the pancit. Is one of my favorites dishes and I was disappointed. It tasted kind of sour. we arrived after 3p our waitress mentioned that it was half price appetizer's till 7p if I'm not mistaken. Which was great, the pork belly is a pretty good appetizer. Went to Lasang Pinoy last night for dinner with friends in the area. Before we went, I read about the owners and where they were from in the Philippines. Most people who have tasted Filipino food in the past have had it from the particular island the person who cooked it and think that is how Filipino food is supposed to taste. Adobe is the national food but can be prepared in several different ways depending on where you are in the Philippine islands. Adobe can be marinated in vinegar and soy sauce or it can have coconut milk. Lasang Pinoy is the only fine dining in Maryland and when we went inside, the tables all had tablecloths and the restaurant is spacious. We were seated and greeted by our server, Quiza. It took me awhile to figure out that she owned the restaurant. She was attentive, funny, and answered all of my questions. We had complimentary puto (rice cakes) to start off and I have to say the puto was good! For our drinks we ordered, calamansi martinis (wasn't on the drink menu, but asked and they made it for us). We ordered the vegetarian lumpia, lumpia Shanghai, calamari for the appetizers. I learned that all of the sawsawan (dipping sauce) is all made from scratch. All of our appetizers were delicious. The calamari was perfectly cooked and the lumpia tasted like how my uncle, mom and dad, grandmother made it. It tasted like home. For our entree, we had the kare kare, shrimp pancit, and bistek. The kare kare and shrimp pancit were absolutely delicious. I have to say the shrimp pancit surprised me. It was perfect! I haven't had kare kare in awhile but tasted like his my dad makes it. I loved that there were bagoong and chili paste on the side. I've never had chili paste with kare kare so it's good I tried something different. For dessert, we had ube ice cream, turon, and halo-halo. Ube and halo halo are my favorite desserts. The turon was crispy and not overly sweet. I loved everything we ordered and will come back again. Before, you complain about the price point, remember you get what you pay for. I don't mind paying a lot of money for good, quality food and great service. My daughter took me here today for Mother's Day the food just okay comparing . The service not great to begin with the fact that it is Mother's Day there are only 2 severs plus I don't see any Filipino staff since it is a Filipino restaurant .As a Filipino person all restaurants here in Maryland that I have been has a Filipino workers and families working in the restaurant. Our family of 4 just had a delicious meal at Lansang Pinoy. We started with the lumpiang shanghai, and calamari. Our waiter brought us free Puto (mini rice cakes) to try. Light and a tad sweet almost like a delicate cornbread. I read a review stating the portions are small. I disagree, we all shared our appetizers and entrees, left full and had leftovers to take home. We enjoyed the shrimp pancit and Chicken inasal dishes and included the lechon kawali (crispy pork-belly). Wow, that was treat! Our waiter was very attentive and recommended several dishes. Just love this place. It's somewhat new on the restaurant scene and the only Filipino restaurant in the area. They just got their liquor license, so there's a full bar. When you compare your Mother's Filipino cooking to a restaurant, you better make sure you it's close. I had the Pork Pancit and Lumpia today for lunch. Just as good as the last time. The waitress was very friendly and came to check on me and chat. The food was so good, I ate too much too fast. Then I took a huge container home for dinner. The owner came over to thank me for coming in, he and his wife opened this place. Thanked me for coming and I told him about how close the pancit was to my mother's cooking. Restaurants when they are no go through a phase of adjusting, mistakes and corrections. Give this place a chance. If there is something that is wrong with your order or whatever it may be, talk to the owners or manager. Places where you can get a culinary taste of the Philippines are few and far between in Maryland. read more

We had a nice server wait on us, although I would say the servers do need more training as far as table etiquette and being knowledgeable to distinguish what each plate is used for. We had asked for small plates & were handed saucer plates. The place has the potential to make some adjustments and do things differently to become successful. This was generally a disappointing experience, but there is certainly potential if they make some changes to focus on what I think matters in a restaurant. Positive: The service was polite and helpful. The to-go cutlery and napkins were oddly high-quality. The beef BBQ Skewers were very good and familiar. The orchid on the adobo rice was pretty, though entirely unnecessary. Negatives: The portion sizes are very, very small. At every other Filipino restaurant in Maryland, you can get the same amount of food for about half the price. I counted and found the chicken adobo came out to about $2.50 for a chunk of meat, and $2.50 for a mound of rice. The quality of Lasang Pinoy's food also largely fell below the standards of other Filipino restaurants in the area. The lechon kawali was not crispy like it should be and wasn't served with any sauce. The adobo does not taste or look like adobo. read more

This new restaurant has a lot of promise with its simple design and lovely story of its origins. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. However, the ambience is a little confusing. The background music a mishmash of random techno and instrumental music completely disconnected from anything Filipino. The dishes we tried will take a lot of work to keep the Filipino or well-trained American palettes returning. It will likely do nothing to excite the curious eater to return to Filipino cuisine based on their experience here. One thing that will stand out is the lack of Filipinos dining here. That usually means the flavors are not authentic and the food overpriced. One of the cultural aspects of Filipino cuisine is the family style dining with bowls of main dishes to be shared aside rice. However, the Caldareta came on a plate with a scoop of rice. As far as flavors and dishes, the Caldareta was essentially tomato sauce and lacked any authentic Caldareta flavors. The meat was tender and veggies appropriately cooked but none of the flavors were incorporated into overall dish. The kinilaw, normally one of our favorites, was boring and a little strange. The froth added nothing and the massive chunks of white fish (unknown variety) bathed in a fairly bland vinegar with only hints of ginger and almost none of the bite of lady-finger peppers. The sinigang ng isda (sour soup with fish) had a piece of fried salmon laid atop a salty broth and baby potatoes. The emblematic sourness was there but lacked coordination with the normal accompanying flavors of sinigang. Finally, the turon (banana lumpia) contained unripe plantains that were stiff and lacked flavor. Not really sure what was drizzled on top, but it provided nothing to the flavor. Again, the customer service and cleanliness were fabulous. The addition of a few quality Filipino cooks, a Filipino ambiance, and authentic flavors will make this truly Lasang Pinoy. read more

We tried the house special ube cocktails which were beautiful and delicious. The lumpiang Shanghai appetizer (finger sized deepfried rolls with ground beef filling, served where pickled vegetables and two dipping sauces) was also terrific. The lumpiang had a good flavor. Then I got the lechón kawali it was a bit tough and not seasoned even though it is fried pork it needed salt. The pancit was really flavorful very good.Then I got the fried red snapper fried very well but again not seasoned. Maybe this is the way the food was suppose to be and the sauces that came with each dish was the seasoning but it needed salt to me. They don't carry salt so I could not add it myself. read more

Very excited that we finally have a Filipino restaurant in the Annapolis area! The place itself is very clean and has a nice vibe, although it does not quite have "fine dining" ambiance that is advertised. Music choice was confusing, mostly classical renditions of pop music - I would love to hear some of our classic OPM or Philippine folk music playing! Our server was very sweet and gave us complimentary puto. My family had the piniritong isda, caldereta, and sinigang na baka, and I had the chicken inasal. We all enjoyed our food, very flavorful, and generous portion sizes! The beef was very tender in the sinigang and caldereta. However, the rice was on the mushier side, and I think the inasal could have used a larger serving of atsara. For dessert, we ordered turon, which unfortunately had bananas that were quite unripe, and they also did not have any langka (jackfruit) inside - it could have also been a bit more caramelized. Would love to try the halo halo next time, though, I saw other patrons order it, and it looked delicious! We also noticed that the service was on the slower side. A bit odd given it was not busy when we went for Saturday dinner, so I might be worried about how long the service would take if it were crowded. Overall, great experience and great food - I am excited to see how they grow and improve over time! It is pricey, but I think with some improvements to service, ambience, food, etc., it will be worth the price. As Filipinos, it can be easy to nitpick the food since we are comparing it to our own families' homecooked meals, but I applaud Lasang Pinoy for giving non-Filipinos a wonderful introduction to Filipino cuisine - I know my non-Filipino and Filipino friends alike are going to love this place! read more

This review is based on my first visit to this restaurant. I was very excited to see that a Filipino restaurant opened in this mall as it's not common in the area. It's spacious and great for families, groups, and couples. We were quickly seated when we arrived. The waiter was friendly and informative. We decided to get lumpia, lechon kawali, beef kaldereta, and halo halo. We also ordered Guyabano smoothie and four seasons smoothie. We were given a free snack while we waited. It was puto (steamed rice cake). The food was delicious and every bit worth the trip. The food was every bit just as good as the ones I've eaten in NYC. I highly recommend coming here if you're looking for Filipino food in the area. The prices are a little above what you'd normally pay for but considering it is in a mall and they are trying to go for more of an upscale Filipino restaurant it is understandable as to why they have these prices. We have been anxiously waiting for the opening of Lasang Pinoy. It was well worth the wait!!! We plan on returning to try everything on the menu but this trip we had the Lechon with garlic fried rice and the chicken pansit. Of course we had to try the Halo Halo. The service was OUTSTANDING and it was nice to chat with the GM/owner throughout our meal. The food was well portioned and beautifully plated.
