We met with friends on our visit to Late Harvest Kitchen, and I'd say the ambiance was very relaxing. The drinks were also very good. We started with the bone marrow fries which were very delicious. I also ordered the Pork Belly appetizer which included stir fry veggies. It's safe to say that that was my meal. It was flavorful, and filling. The prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes. The service was good, but not over the top. I believe that the service matched the ambiance. I'll definitely be returning. The fries alone are worth the visit. read more

Sticky Toffee pudding and chocolate mousse were both overly sweet and the mousse was really one flavor note. We'll return without desserts. What was great? Service, from front to back. The Mahi was delicious and the pork chop performed beyond expectations. The star of our show was the beef tar tar appetizer. It was brilliant! The fried deviled eggs sound fantastic but we were looking for a gluten free app so I'll try those another night. The bone marrow fries are a dish we fell in love with at North End Barbecue and have missed. Don't underestimate the cocktails. Tonight we dined for the first time at Late Harvest Kitchen. It's not a new place but we had just never been. It was amazing and I wished we hadn't waited so long to try it. They do change the menu frequently and tonight they had some special French items for Bastille Day. Everything is made in house. We started with some cocktails and split a wedge salad. The salad had some unique items on it like roasted pears and sweety drop peppers which were delicious. I need to see if I can find them at the store. They also gave us a bread basket with all homemade breads. Four different kinds. And house made butter. For entrees my husband had the pork chop which was huge! It was topped with baked beans and kraut and bacon marmalade which was amazing! I had the special beef bourguignon. The beef was so tender and sauce so good. We also got the potatoes Minneapolis which we didn't need! We both took half our entrees and most of the potatoes home. We knew we had to leave room for dessert. There was no question we were going to get the sticky toffee pudding. This dessert has been voted the best dessert in Indiana a few times and I would agree! It was huge but we finished it! They have a beautiful garden patio but it was too hot for us to sit out there so we hope to sit out there next time! I don't get the hype. The atmosphere is nice and the drinks are decent but the food is nothing special. Chicken schnitzel had no flavor and had some strange dry pebbles on top that made it even less appetizing. Ramp pasta was edible but had a strange mix of flavors that didn't really come together. Always a great meal at Late Harvest! We have been coming here since they opened and it is always consistent and delicious! We split a wedge salad, and the red fish entree (they bring it to you split which is my favorite) and the Minneapolis potatoes which are YUM. And my dad had the Brussels sprouts salad and the duck entree- both of which he said were delicious! Of course, had to end the night with their Sticky Toffee Pudding!! Loud restaurant. 35 minute wait for reservations (anniversary) and table (next to the loudest table of 8 one could ever imagine). Waited another 15 minutes for the overworked waiter to visit us and try to sell us on all the establishment's "incredible" appetizers. We suggested that it might make sense for us to first order drinks or wine. He disappeared. Back to take our dinner orders. Meanwhile I asked for bread. Eventually came, but dry and burnt, with a strange butter concoction and nothing else. The bread fell apart with any effort to share the butter. We split a salad, and although my wife thought is was ok, I couldn't eat it because the dressing was overpowered by the sloppy delivery. Next we split the steak and ffs. OMG - Applebee's does a better job, and the fries were wet and undercooked. Next the sticky dessert. Uh - it's just a black cake with cream and toffee. Nothing anybody would go out of their way to eat. Conclusion ? Nothing special, and by the way, hugely expensive! read more

I'm late to post about this awesome experience at Late Harvest Kitchen. We went to celebrate my birthday on Tuesday, the 23rd in 2022. We ordered three entrees and two appetizers for our group of three which turned out to be perfect. For the appetizers, we ordered the fried deviled eggs and shaved brussel sprouts. The eggs reminded us of scotch eggs but the flavors were more complex, definitely an A+. the brussel sprout salad was okay. a solid B. Our entrees were short ribs, salmon and fettucine. All three dishes were amazing and we shared each of them. Definite A+ again. The fettucine was homemade, the short ribs were lucious and the salmon was seared with a grape reduction confit that was also wonderful. We topped it off with their famous sticky toffee pudding (always A+, as good as any we ate in England) and lemon ice-box cake, recommended by our server. My my least favorite but the others liked it a lot. I'm getting hungry all over again, thinking about this meal! I think Late Harvest Kitchen is one of the best restaurants in the area of any price and seems to not be as well known as others that are inferior to it. Service is perfect largely because of the staff that is an adjunct to the actual servers. We were outside on the patio. While we were eating, another table became fully in the sun. Several of the staff came and moved the entire table, already set up, for these customers, to another shadier more comfortable location! I've never seen such a thing! The prices are a bit higher than we usually pay but every penny was well spent! And not at all out of line for finer dining. Highly recommended! read more

Bottom line - I was disappointed, but not in the food. I used Open Table and it asks for the reason for the reservation and one option was "anniversary" so I chose that on the dropdown menu and in the comments typed, "25th ANNIVERSARY!!!" Yes, with 3 exclamation points we're pretty excited to make it to that milestone celebration. Now for our 24th anniversary we went to Ocean Prime and they made a big deal out of 24 with a gushing server, champagne toast, and a free (shared) dessert with "Congratulations!" on the top. Friends who went to Late Harvest for their 24th last year had similar a experience so we were at least ready to be congratulated. We ordered drinks and food. Asked our server to take our photo for our 25th, which he gladly did, and said, "Nice!" That's all. Quite anticlimactic. No congrats from the manager. Nothing. Just another night out for dinner. I guess on to the food. For the appy we got the fried deviled eggs which were tasty and just enough to tie us over until the entrées. Ordered the Pork Chop, which was delicious and plentiful.... and we HAD to get the famous fries with marrow butter and jalapenos. That's our fave from North End. Also got the pumpkin swordfish (a type of fish, not pumpkin flavored) was unique and tasty on a bed of lightly pickled vegetables and beans. I dined here with a party of 7. The restaurant did fill up, but upon our arrival, it was us and 2 other tables. We were seated at a very cramped table. It was uncomfortable. Our server was very nice and had a warm presence. He was knowledgeable about all the items on the menu. The food was hit or miss. I would call it 70/30. Most of our items were good and some of our apps and entrees were overcooked. For the price point, I expected to eat something I would really enjoy. I felt full, but also that I had overpaid. Arrived around 730p last night (a Saturday evening) for dinner, myself plus 1. Not extremely busy, but enough of a crowd to make it not seem like we were eating in silence. The starters were the gnocchi and deviled eggs. The gnocchi itself was fantastic, the sweet crab a wonderful complement to the savory potatoes and sauce. Unfortunately this would be the first and last thing I enjoyed. The eggs were not bad, but there was nothing exceptional about them - the thousand island sauce seemed odd paired with eggs. Surprisingly bland. The potatoes I got as a side to my duck was essentially a big hashbrown patty, and the bacon had a revolting grease-at-the-bottom-of-the-pan flavor. Unfortunately, so did my duck. Their flavors felt like both were meant for Joey chestnut, not myself. My companion's chicken schnitzel, though not bad, was also lacking in flavor. Its cream sauce, while good at first, tasted more watery as I went into it and lacked any sort of gustatory strength to make it a worthwhile selection. The crowd had thinned out by the time we were finishing around 845p, so when the manager started blaring Dave Matthews over the speakers it was pretty surprising. The staff seemed disinterested, and our server only checked on us maybe a couple times over the course of an hour. The restaurant itself is in a gorgeous area, where the sunset and surrounding woods were a beautiful view from the windows. It's a shame the soundtrack and the service couldn't match this splendor. Overall, I feel like this was a very tepid attempt at fashionable, modern haute cuisine. If I could give a 1.75 / 5 I would, but I'll round up generously to a 2. 10/10. To begin, outstanding service from Chris. We started with the caviar pie. The toast points were perfectly crispy, yet also soft. We highly recommend. We also had some wonderful cocktails from the bar. My wife ordered the chicken schnitzel; it was perfectly fried and seasoned, the spaetzle was airy yet also crispy (perfect!), and the buerre blanc was incredible. Chris recommended an Austrian white wine pairing that was also spot on. I ordered the scallops dish. Words can't describe how good it was. LHK is seriously out-of-this-world good and features a menu that is updated every day. All of the food is incredibly fresh and puts an inventive spin on very classic Americana cuisine. Highly recommend starting off with one of their few Old Fashioneds - I'm partial to the "Wisconsin." The wine list also features some unique varietals that are worth trying. All the appetizers I've had are unbelievable, but I can't come to LHK without getting a slice of the heavenly caviar pie made of sieved hard boiled egg, a cream cheese-based blend, topped with various roe and served with capers, red onion, more egg, and parsley. Don't be shy and get the bread basket to accompany it as well. Flavor wise, it's reminiscent of elevated lox & bagels in the form of a refined vintage recipe. All of their entrees are killer and change often, although I believe the pork chop and the vegetable tagine are always on the menu. They usually feature a whole fish (e.g. bronzini) that changes in prep, such as "Thai-style" or served with a Worcestershire-butter sauce and baby shrimp - delicious. As for sides, potatoes Minneapolis is a fun one to share as it comes out as what is essentially a fully-loaded oversized hash brown. For dessert, don't leave without trying the sticky toffee pudding. Ever since Smith & Hawkins closed and Late Harvest moved in, it has been on my wish list to check out. How could anyone envision a swanky fancy restaurant in the foot print of a garden store? Then the reviews came and I had to try it. The food porn was insane. But none of my friends or family would go. I lay this out here so that you know my expectations were high and how much I wanted to love this experience. I finally had a friend want to go check it out during Devour Downtown. That means a prix fix meal for $35 a person. The first course was a choice of shaved Brussels sprouts salad (my friend's choice), onion dip and the Madeira glazed chicken live tart. I love liver pate so I opted for the tart. The flavors were fine but I thought the Madeira fought with the liver too much. My friend said the salad was good but dry. Before we could finish the 1st course the second course was being served. My friend opted for the house fettuccine with rock shrimp scampi sauce. She said the sauce was delicious and made her want to lick the bowl. But the portion was small with few shrimp. This could be a devour thing or the regular portion. We weren't sure. I got the chicken schnitzel. My portion was embarrassingly large by comparison. The chicken breast was butterflied and sautéed deliciously. The seasoning was great. The schnitzel was made from an everything bagel but lacked flavor and was dry. The white wine butter sauce must have been used for the chicken or absorbed by the schnitzel, because I didn't see or taste much of it. So good but not great. Last course was dessert: the sticky toffee was the better choice, and my friend loved it. I got the mousse which was tasty and perfect, unless being compared to the toffee pudding. we were both happy and full by the end. We went on a Tuesday night when a private business event was going on. The event made the dining room loud and hopefully the reason the courses timing was off coming out of the kitchen. The dessert course took a while, which was fine since we were catching up. All in all, we enjoyed our meal. For Devour Downtown, this is one the best I've had. For the expectations though, it lacked the luster I was expecting. If we had dined on the regular menu, for what we got, I would have been disappointed. Had a wonderful dinner at Late Harvest! The food was great and Josh, our server, provided wonderful service! We started with the Heirloom tomato and watermelon salad. Very fresh and yummy. I shared it with my husband-Josh thoughtfully divided it for us into 2 bowls. The crab cakes were delicious, not spicy,which I prefer! My Husband got the scollops and said they were great! We ended the evening with the sticky pudding, which came out warmed with whipped cream. It was a large serving, more than enough to share. Had a great day at LHK. Was really surprised by the food - WOW! We came in just to have a couple appetizers on their patio but sat there for hours eating more than we expected. Notables: The side of fries, tossed in a bone marrow butter is fantastic. Ask for some hot sauce or ketchup on the side. The salmon dumplings were exceptionally rich and flavorful. And if you want to finish your meal with a real treat, then go for the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Not sure if there was any alcohol in that pudding but it did make me giggle like I was a 8-yr old with a water balloon. It's a big portion though, and very decadent, so I'd recommend sharing it with a friend, a good friend. You probably won't want to share this with just anybody. read more

Their representation of tagine is a flavorless couscous layer with roasted veggies on top. It was reheated in a "tagine" (according to the server.) Very uninspiring. I had been meaning to try this place for quite awhile, but seemed to keep having cause to eat out at nicer places mostly on Sunday nights when Late Harvest is closed. So, when family was in town mid-week I knew this would be the perfect chance to finally go! We had the brandade that was mentioned by a few others as being a high point, and it was truly delicious! The fish and buttery brioche went together perfectly! We also had the pork belly small plate on the recommendation of our server and that was fabulous as well! For entrees, I had the halibut cheeks which were cooked perfectly, very flavorful and served with a very tasty combination of vegetables and a slightly sweet light sauce. Another family member had the fish of the day, which was deboned table side by the server, and a third family member had the pork schnitzel. Both enjoyed their entrees a great deal. Portion sizes do vary depending on the entree as others have mentioned, but the servers seem extremely knowledgeable about the menu, so any diners with questions about this could easily ask when deciding what to order if this is an issue. We had a side dish of the fried green tomatoes. They were cooked perfectly; tomatoes still firm, and the coating not greasy! Side dishes easily serve four, and we were glad we heeded our server's suggestion to just stick to one side. For dessert two of us split the sticky toffee pudding which was amazing! Buttery sweet goodness! We were glad we decided to share one; definitely large and rich enough to split! Our third person ordered the root beer float which is made with house made root beer that comes in a tiny bottle that is uncapped and poured over the ice cream at the table (how cute!!) Service was great, even with the place being full. Given how busy they were on a Wednesday, I'd say they mean it when they say reservations are recommended. We will definitely be back! read more

From start to finish, Late Harvest exceeded all my expectations. Our party of three had a $200 gift card to spend, which gave us the opportunity to try lots of menu items. We began with three delicious starters: the kale and apple salad (with tasty walnuts and a great cider vinaigrette), the wedge salad, and the fried oysters in a really flavorful sauce. Holy cow, those oysters were incredible, and came out bigger (and with more oysters) than I was expecting. The mains we tried were the chicken schnitzel and the scallops. For $32, I was expecting three scallops, but four really nicely sized scallops came out, with a generous amount of cauliflower purée and hazelnuts. The chicken schnitzel portions were also pretty big, and the chicken was breaded perfectly. Definitely recommend trying both of these options. We sampled all three sides as well. They very easily can be split between two or more people, especially the Potatoes Minneapolis. The bone marrow fries were very tasty, but my favorite were the roasted vegetables. I think the veggies are an ideal accompaniment to most of their entrees. Of course, when the waiter says "award-winning dessert", you have to try it! Their sticky toffee dessert was delicious... moist cake and warm toffee underneath, with a refreshing scoop of whipped cream. I clearly see why it won awards. The lemon raspberry dessert was also very tasty. The service was immaculate (thanks Nathan!) and I left extremely full and satisfied. This is a very nice restaurant. Stopped by for a pre Valentine's Day dinner on a Thursday because open table looked like it was all booked for the weekend. Started with the caviar pie. It is a pie slice of cream Cheese with maybe five different varieties of Fish eggs on top. Ok the side you have something like toasted bagel chips and traditional garnish (onion, egg, capers). I liked the ambiance of the restaurant and it looks like there's a cute patio outside with a fire. The staff is also very friendly. Other than the calamari appetizer, I didn't love the food I ordered. The Kale Cesar salad was average and the Skate Wing entree was underwhelming. I was quite disappointed with the toffee dessert. It was the only dessert option on the Devour Indy menu and I was hoping it would blow me away. I will say, the calamari was delicious. It was in a curry sauce and had some rice at the bottom.
